Cassidy Joiner is focused on one thing, and one thing only—her growing horse training business. Her Dad gave her the family farm a few years back, and now she has the challenge of making it run. When a handsome stranger stomps in asking for help training a monstrous horse, she knows she has a huge challenge ahead of her. Both rider and horse are similar, and why she’s a professional at reading horses, she’s never been able to read a man. Until now. Samuel Kaid’s name precedes him. The Kaids own the biggest ranch in these parts, but he isn’t like his brothers. He speaks strangely, and clearly doesn’t understand much about people. When he asks her to train him to be more human, she knows she’s in over her head. No wonder she understands him. Sam shows her an animal side that her horse training only begins to prepare her for. Damaged monster. So why does she feel so safe around him?
Sam Kaid doesn’t know much about himself anymore. Most of his memories come from the last three years, when he was living in the woods and obeying the orders of a murderous alpha. He’s convinced that he will never fit into the legacy his brothers are building, because he’s not like them anymore. All he knows is fighting. When he takes a broken horse to a beautiful local horse trainer, Cassidy, he knows he’s stumbled onto someone important. She sees him. She gets him. She’s patient with his animal ways. And maybe, just maybe, his wolf will settle enough to actually keep her safe.
Don’t miss this thrilling final installment in T. S. Joyce’s Kaid Ranch Shifters series.
T.S. Joyce is devoted to bringing hot shifter romances to readers. Hungry alpha males are her calling card, and the wilder the men, the more she'll make them pour their hearts out. She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.
She lives in a tiny town, outside of a tiny city, and devotes her life to writing big stories. Foodie, bear whisperer, ninja, thief of tiny bottles of awesome smelling hotel shampoo, nap connoisseur, movie fanatic, and zombie slayer, and most of this bio is true.
Bear Shifters? Check Smoldering Alpha Hotness? Double Check Sexy Scenes? Fasten up your girdles, ladies and gents, it's gonna to be a wild ride.
I honestly didn't think I was going to like this one, didn't think Sam was going to be redeemable. But very quickly I was charmed by Sam, much like Cassidy was. Sure he had an odd manner, but if you looked at his actions you could see he was all about Cassidy from the start. It was a huge gamble when very early on he let her see his wolf, but even that worked and I think worked well. It seemed to give Cassidy what she needed to help him understand better. I loved that Sam made the rest of the "pack" met Cassidy for eating and how everyone treated everyone else. These guys are all odd, but they are all the same kind of odd, so it works well for them.
I’ve been waiting for Sam’s book and it’s finally here❣️Sam is struggling after being reunited with his brothers and he doesn’t feel like he fits in. He works hard but he has the feeling he’s a disappointment to his brothers.
When Wes buys him a horse that’s wild, Sam finds a woman to help him teach the horse some manners and by extension him too😍Cassidy knows there is something special about Sam and his horse, the minute he makes himself known to her🤩
So sad to see this series end, but I know T.S. Joyce has a new series in the pipeline and I’m excited to see what she comes up with next😢❤️
Great ending to the series. Glad Sam got to be happy. He went through so much. His brothers really kinda sucked and I got mad at how they treated him. Cas was great. Loved her much!
Setting: ?? Western US Contemporary Genre: Shifter romance
This is the 4th novella of four in the series. Sam Kaid spent the 3 years since his Turn as second/enforcer to Leif, the Alpha of the Wichita Pack and his Maker. He was brainwashed into being a killing machine. In the series, Leif had Turned all 3 of the Kaid brothers, but Hunter and Wes thought Sam had died. In the 3rd book, Summer gave Wes proof that Sam was alive and he went and rescued him by breaking through to him, past the mindless monster Leif had trained him to be. Now Sam lives on the Kaid Brothers’ Ranch, but he still struggles against the conditioning that left him more beast than human. He has little memory of his life from before the Turn, and he can’t seem to connect with his brothers or anyone else in the pack. In an effort to get Sam more engaged, Wes gives him a beast of a horse and tells him he has a month to “teach him manners”. Sam goes to Cassidy Joiner, a horse trainer, to ask her to train him to train the horse. She has a real talent for being able to read the animals brought to her, and she understands that this horse has a past that makes him afraid of interacting with humans. And she sees the same in Sam. So a story is about a woman helping a man connect with his horse, and the man and woman finding their own connection. Although there is a very short instance of violent action, this is mainly a character-driven story. The plot is a simple one, but still interesting. The characters are much like most of Joyce’s people, though I think Sam is a little more complex with what seems to be PTSD. Cassidy, on the other hand, is less well-developed than many of Joyce’s heroines. I guess they can’t all be on the level with Willa Madden (Gray back Bad Bear). Most of the humor in this work is based in the dialogue of insults and vulgarities. There is sex — I would classify this as erotic romance — but it is tastefully written, graphic without being raunchy. Overall, this novella is an excellent way to spend a couple of hours.
This one was...alright, but not my favorite of the series. It is a sweet ending to the Kaid brothers' saga, settling newly-reclaimed Sam into human life again with the help of Cassidy, an adorable horse lady. (I'm not sure what exactly to call her and what she does. She seems to do a little boarding but mostly riding and training lessons?) I really wish there had been more of this story, to give it room to breathe and grow. Fleshed out, I think it could have been my favorite of the bunch; I love a great redemption story.
-------- So why the problematic shelf?
Word choice of "g*pping"—spelled with "jip" in this book- a way that I always assumed it was spelled as well-and why I didn't realize the racist roots of the word until several years ago—instead of "cheated," "swindled," or "robbed," which are easily enough subbed in.
G*psy and words derived from it are racist to the Romani in Europe—there's even a term specifically for this, "antiziganism". A lot of Americans still do not seem to be aware of this, so it's worth pointing out so it can hopefully be replaced with vocabulary that works better. If you know better, you can do better.
Perfect book to conclude the series. I love how they all came together and through the ups and serious downs everything was worked out. I loved this series.
So, we finally get to the happy ending for the final Kaid brother. After everything they went through and everything that happened to Sam, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found him to be the easier of the brothers, he knows he is damaged, and finds just the perfect girl to understand him, and their story is not as hard as I thought it would be, they understood each other and got along better than anyone would have expected.
They did have their problems along the way, but were able to fix them. So sweet the both of them, and sweeter still their love story.
I love T.S. Joyce broken characters, but liked how easy these two fit. A good, refreshing story, perfect for a light reading with a happy ending.
I’ve never made it a secret that I have loved, enjoyed, and devoured every title by T. S. Joyce that I’ve gotten my hands on. Completely, utterly addicted to her numerous worlds. Still, in all of those stories, I don’t think I’ve felt the brokenness of a man so deeply or smiled so widely as he came out of his own darkness and into the light of those who loved him, especially his mate until I met Sam of the ‘Kaid Ranch Shifters‘ in the final story of this series, ‘Love Her Better‘.
Sam and Cassidy’s story is like an intricate dance being learned by new partners. Learning the steps, understanding each other’s natural movements, relaxing, beginning to trust, no longer watching their feet but gazing into each other’s eyes as they flow around the dance floor. It was a slow, steady progression of Sam going beyond believing that he was a monster created by the crazed alpha who had destroyed his family, turned his brothers but kept Sam as his enforcer to do his bidding. Just like his horse that Cassidy was teaching to trust again so did Sam need to learn to trust – others and himself. Watching Sam, Cassidy, one horse who would earn a new name, and one crazy, wild family comes together to show Sam just how valuable he was to each of them, seeing him learn to trust, to adapt his known personality and reclaim who Sam always had been.
To be frank, I believe that ‘Love Her Better‘ is going to be in my top five favorites by this author… and she has a lot of books and characters I absolutely love and adore. This is mostly a sexy, sizzling, romantic love story with a touch of conflict that I didn’t see coming from that direction. Looking back, I should have, but when you get lost in a world you aren’t always following clues right in front of your face, right? I enjoyed the part that all the Kaid brothers, blood and non-blood, and their mates played in bringing Sam back from the brink. But it was Cassidy’s love and acceptance that won my heart in this story. If you love a really good Shifter or Paranormal Romance then this is one series that should be on your reading list. I fell in love with the Kaids, and now comes the wait to see what the next series brings us.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Oh Sam. He was totally worth the wait. ****** Overall Rating: 4 Stars Kindle Unlimited: Yes Standalone: No Steam: 4 save a horse ride a cowboy flames Triggers: No ****** In book 3, we discovered Sam was alive and his brothers and Bryson were out to find him. What they found was not Sam....Sam had been turned into a killing machine. He had no real memories and only knew pain. Sam is broken and has so much blood on his hands, he feels he cannot be redeemed. Sam is not adjusting to Kaid Ranch. He fights with his brothers, he feels so trapped in the cabin that they built him, he sleeps in the woods. Bones, his wolf, has more control than Sam. One day Wes gets fed up with Sam and brings Sam a "present". A horse he bought at auction, affectionately named "Asshole". This horse is as broken and ornery as Sam. Sam decides he is going to need help breaking in Asshole. Here is where we meet Cassidy. The horse and Sam whisperer. She runs her horse ranch alone. She helps people by breaking their horses and teaching people how to ride. She has a gift. She can understand animals and why they lash out. Cassidy with her two braided pig tails and patience of a Saint may just be what Sam/Bones need to heal since Sam is more animal than man at the moment. I giggled, my heart ached, I was happy and sad. My emotions were all over the place. Hell, Asshole had me getting all misty eyed. However, in the end. Everything was perfect. Cassidy was strong, fearless, and full of heart. Sam was beautifully broken but wanted so badly to be "normal". The two together were fantastic. I got my happy ending for all those cowboys on the Kaid Ranch. I think this book was a wonderful ending to the series and I am a little sad to say goodbye to those Kaid shifters. I recommend this book and this series. Save a horse, ride a cowboy!
Samuel "Sam" Kaid aka Bones was lead to believe by the former Alpha of the Witchita Pack that he had noone in the world but him. Unknown to him that the man was a liar and a cheat, until one of his brothers, Wes (LIFT HER UP) tracked him down with the help of his mate and showed him the truth. Now he was back with his siblings, their mates, their adopted brother, Bryson and his mate (STEAL HER HEART).
But something was wrong, no matter how much his loved ones wanted him to try and get back on track. He and his wolf were having trouble re-adjusting to civil life. When all they've known for years was killing. Wes gave him a wild horse and he immediately connected with the animal. Cause he saw him as a kindred spirit, they both felt trapped and that scared them. So knew he needed help so he turned yo a horse trainer, Cassidy Joiner.
Cassidy "Cas" Joiner, a horse trainer who had one goal in mind to keep the family business her father handed over to her striving. She knew her life was about to change the moment one of the Kaid brothers walked into her office asking for her help.
Sam did something in return for Cas, the latter was touched by his gesture. As they spent more and more time together, they both found out some amazing and intriguing things about each other and his horse Chaos. He showed her his inner animal and she saw more than she'd expected. She saw a side of him that many yearned to see.
Cas met his people and they instantly loved her. She was his hope, the light in his darkness. Loved how she handled the Kaids pack, she had Sam's six, come what may. I really enjoyed the advice Bry gave Sam, that grizzly became a strong and essential part of the Kaids' lives. They were all family.
LOVE HER BETTER is the fourth installment in T. S. Joyce's KAID RANCH SHIFTERS series. What a fascinating, mind-blowing and engrossing way to end this captivating series. Marvelous job by T. S. Joyce. I'm looking forward to what comes next from her! 5++++
This is the fourth book in this series. They are better read in order. Sam Kaid died the night he was turned. He is the guy his brothers remember. They want him to be but he isn’t. He must find his way in his new life. Cassidy Joiner running the family farm. She is growing her horse training business. One day Sam shows up asking her to train his horse and to help him learn more manners. There is just something about him and makes Cassidy want to help him and his horse. Its going to take a lot of work, both him and his horse. She can read him in a way she normally can’t read other people. He and his horse have a lot in common. Something about her calms his wolf. He has something to focus on that includes his wolf. I felt for Sam he is stuck. He doesn’t really know how to exist is this new for him. Cassidy is just as intrigued about Sam and he is about her. This book has more feels than the others for me. I am sad to see this series come to an end but excited for T.S. Joyce’s next book. Congrats on another fantastic read.
This was a sweet installment to this series...it was extremely fast paced. I feel like these books are the equivalent of reading a movie. With a movie you get all the action, all the surface feelings but everything needs to happen in a two hour time frame so it’s all pretty rushed...these stories are the same. It’s a nice, easy, fun way to pass a couple hours and I have no complaints about that.
Is it believable that a woman would see a man turn into a werewolf and be like “well, okay then”....no. Not at all. But who cares? I didn’t really feel like reading six chapters of emotional turmoil as she worked through her fears. I have kids and a life and sometimes I just want to read a fun story.
So, if you’re looking for depth and a dramatic plot and lots of details...these aren’t the books for you. But if you can let reality go, and just want to basically read a movie these are perfect little reprieves from the boring routine of every day life.
Also I have to add TS Joyce writes some of the funniest dialogue I have ever read. And I read A LOT.
I enjoy T S Joyce’s Kaid Ranch shifter books. They’re not long or complex stories, but for all their brevity, they pack (hah!), a considerable emotional charge. I think this is my favourite of this series.
Sam’s story is gritty and intense, but mercifully low on unnecessary angst. Cassidy is a beguiling character; her talent for animals extending to damaged wolves. The pacing is well-handled - in a book which is under 200 pages, it never feels rushed.
Joyce’s writing is frequently very funny. The Kaid boys banter is profane and hilarious. And what horse woman wouldn’t melt into a puddle when Sam describes Cassidy, “If she were a horse, she’d go for the most money at auction.”
Also - props to T S Joyce for writing about horses as if she actually knows something about them.
If you like shifter books but you’re a bit tired of the more YA aspects of the genre, you might appreciate this series. Well worth reading.
I loved this book & the whole series. All of the books made me laugh stupid & I really hate that this was the last one. And I think the author has a thing for the number 1010. In the first book of this series, 1010 was the number on Bryce's auction paddle when he bought Maris's cows. And in the third book of the series, 1010 was the number of the hotel room Summer destroyed. I know it's odd that I noticed that. LOL But, it's probably because I read all the books in the Kaid Ranch Shifters series back to back in two days. I really enjoyed these books & I plan on working my way thru the rest of T.S. Joyce's books. I also would recommend this series to everyone. Hunky, protective, lovable, cowboy wolf & bear shifters who love hard with strong, kick-ass mates. What's not to love?
3 stars. This should be a 3.5 star read but I’m taking a half point off due to the lack of protection during sex. Tsk, tsk. The author should know better
That being said, this is a fine wrap up to the Kaid Brothers, the wolf shifting pack of ranchers. Sam Kaid is the last brother to get his story. Sam has recently returned to the family having spent the last three years being the killing enforcer to a rival wolf pack. He is damaged and sees little hope in ever regaining any sort of human emotion let alone connection. He is a damaged, lost soul. Along comes Cassidy, a local horse trainer, who seamlessly picks up the pieces of Sam and accepts both the man and the monster wolf living in Sam.
Folks, this is simply a comfort read. The writing is fine, the plot predictable but isn’t that exactly what we want sometimes? I know I do. Enjoy.
Oh me, oh my this one touched my heart. I laughed and cried reading Sam's and Cassidy story, and his brother as always is hilarious. Especially when Sam brought Cassidy to meet them, but I would of love to be a fly seeing their expressions. I just out laughing when Hunter and Wes asked if she was kidnapped, still can't stop laughing..lol. Well as the days goes by Sam started to really make progress, from sleeping inside more and more, and reconnecting with his bro and their mates. One big happy family and even chaos found true love in Trinity...loved it. So looking forward to it new series, although I am going to miss the Kaid's Ranch..hopefully we can revisit to see if they all have offspring..big fan as always Winzie19☺💞.
Books by this author are always short and easy to read, and they’re set in the shifter world.
Love Her Better is the final book in the Kaid Ranch series. This is Sam’s book.
In the last book, the Kaid brothers and Bryson discovered that Sam was still alive and brought him home. Sam is having a hard time adjusting and doesn’t remember much of his life before he was turned into “Bones”. When Wes gives Sam a wild horse to tame, he goes in search of help. Meeting Cassidy changes Sam. He begins to feel again and he begins to realize that Cassidy feels like home.
Cassidy was super sweet. She was alone for the most part and needed Sam as much as he needed her. The series ends in a good place with all the characters finding their happy endings.
3.5 Stars for Sam and Cassidy's story. This story left me unfulfilled. It needed more towards the end. There were things left unresolved for me about Bryson and the brothers acknowledging his role. Also, nothing resolved with her brother. If it's going to be in there, let us witness Sam and Cassidy 's brother. There were gender errors as well, which was distracting. I expected more from this author. I have read all of her series, but lately the spark of fulfilling the reader with a full, not partial plot is lacking. There was some humor, but not enough. She could have made this so much better during the last half, but it did not happen. Sad to see this series end this way.
Definitely a series that I will have to read again!
I don't give out 5*'s very often, but this is one author, in my opinion, that deserves it. The first time I read one of her book's I was hooked, now if whenever she has a new book out, its an automatic purchase. The characters in this series had a lot going on and you could understand the trauma and pain they went thru. I thought Hunter would be my favorite but now I'm torn between him and Sam. Wes well what you say about Wes, he wasn't kind, he definitely had some issues, to say the least. If you read any of this authors books make sure to read the series in order to get the full enjoyment. Well I'm off to read "The Battle of the Bulls'
This is a very interesting book I think there is more of our Alpha in this book more than I have seen in all of her other books there is an under line statement that I think that it defines what she knows how she really feels and she knows that when she needs help she turns for her pack which her true readers for the love and understanding that always her take what ever she needs at that and that is love and the faith we all have for her. Just like the the love and faith that Cassidy has for Sam her true mate. See if you can find the statement for yourself.
Another great book by T.S. Joyce, I enjoyed catching up with the other brothers (male leads from books #1-3), bu Sam and Cassidy stole the show.
Both were absolutely fantastic together and perfect for each other.
The scene where Cassidy meets the family, was hilarious, as were quite a lot of other instances in the book.
Sam reminded me of Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy. Not understanding social norms/ cues, not really knowing how to smile or express emotions or thoughts whether it be physically or through communication. I loved how Cassidy accepted him and how he love her... All of it was perfect and immensely enjoyable to read.
Great story about Sam the older brothers thought they lost to death years ago comes home. At least for awhile until Sam & asshole meet Cassidy the horse trainer and Sam trainer too. I loved this story of Sam who had a terrible experience after he was turned and made into a killing machine for another pack. Was so glad that someone helped Wes and Hunter find him but it wasn’t the old Sam that they knew. Cassidy had the patience to handle both horse and owner together. So glad that Sam, Cassidy, Wes, Hunter and Bryce and of course the mates had a happy ending together.
Sam was saved by his brothers, brought home and expected to adapt to regular life again. Problem is, it doesn’t work that way for a monster like him. Then came A$$hole, the horse his brother bought him. Angry, scared....dangerous, just like Sam! He brings the horse to Cassidy, she has done wonders with horses like Sams. She sees the scared, frightened and dangerous animals and knows how much they need each other. She makes Sams head quiet, slows down the noise so he can think clearly. Sam needs her and she makes him “feel”. This was a great story about two damaged souls and the woman who made them both “feel”. Check this story out today!
Sam Kaid doesn’t feel like himself anymore, not that he remembers when he did. Living on the family ranch with his brothers and their mates, Sam feels like he doesn’t fit; their years of different lifestyles makes reconnecting nearly impossible. But the gift of a stubborn horse sends Sam in search of lessons and directly in Cassidy Joiner’s path.
Cas has been eking out a living from the farm her father left her to share, not leaving much time for much else. Bonding over breakfasts, horse training and car repair, the more Sam’s with Cassidy the more Sam accepts himself. When Sam’s secret is out before they’re ready, Cass is around to help Sam cope with his past. Rating: 3.75stars
Really thought this was amazing and meaty until the wolf fight which fizzled to nothing very dramatic at all!! No monster fighting for his mate, no mate getting hurt and monster showing raw emotion.....nothing....... Sort of limped along after that scene! Wanted more and didn't get it. Am I expecting too much, I'm not sure. Some previous books have left me stopping and having to go back as I couldn't read on due to the intense scene..... I want that!!
As always T.S. Joyce delivered broken characters that are working on being the best them they can be while finding the strength to heal and fall for their mate.
The banter that T.S. delivers is always witty, entertaining and makes me giggle. Her characters are always so easy to connect with and even easier to love.
Sam hurt my heart all that he had been through and the progress he showed throughout this book broke my heart and healed it.
I can't wait for the release of T.S. Joyce's all new series!!
T.S. Joyce does it again! She never disappoints. Sam's story is such a great end to this series! The more broken the hero the deeper you fall in love with him and boy am I in love with Sam. Cassidy is perfect for him and a great addition to the crazy Kaid pack. I honestly didn't want this series to end but that's normal I never want to stop reading about any of her shifters. Thank you for another amazing story! I can't wait to see what you have next for us!
