One of Danny SAS team took a souvenir from a bombed-out mosque in Syria. The ornate 15th century box has deep religious meaning for the villagers. Stephen Taylor spent over twenty years wiring up homes and businesses with audio visual kit before the big 50 started looming and he finally sat down to write the book he’d always had rattling around in his head.
That book was Execution of Faith — a supercharged, no-nonsense thriller that hit the ground running and never looked back. Readers loved it so much he wrote a prequel, Vodka Over London Ice, which became the first in what is now the internationally bestselling Danny Pearson series.
Raised on a diet of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp, and Tom Wood’s Victor — with a healthy side serving of Die Hard, Daniel Craig’s Bond, and anything Guy Ritchie ever pointed a camera at — Stephen writes the kind of thrillers he wants to read: hard, fast, no filler, and with enough humour to keep you grinning between the gunfights.
The Danny Pearson series has found fans across the world who love action that doesn’t let up and a hero who’s as handy with a one-liner as he is with his fists. If you like your thrillers with the throttle wide open, you’re in the right place.
Brothers in arms pulling together to save one of them. Pawn shops, cat burglary, safes, and religion all combine to make these seem to be normal days for Danny Pearson.
It was a really short read. 70 odd pages. I haven't read any other Danny Pearson, so don't know how it was compared to the full novels. As for this one, the story is fairly simple. Danny's one of the army mates is kidnapped by Syrians. They need a box belonging to a 9th century prophet that one of Danny's friends had stolen in their operation. They move from one person to another in search of the box. What follows next is high paced high octane action sequences. A good entertainer if you aren't looking for something deeper and heavier.
I enjoyed the storyline, not as much as the first two short stories in this "series", but I still enjoyed it. It did introduce us to some possible additions to the Danny Pearson universe.
Who doesn't love a short story, for me as a reader as well as an author the ability to dip in and get a taste of a series is priceless. Have a read on the train on the way to work, or on the bus, or at the airport. I had a great time writing this short novel and I hope you enjoy reading it just as much.
So its goodbye for now and I hope to see you reading one of my full length Danny Pearson Thrillers soon
