Saw this recommended online and decided to check it out on a whim since it seemed right up my alley and I fell in love with the art and idea right away.
If suicide or body horror are triggering for you, I will say tread lightly as this manga contains graphic depictions on page and the girls transform by committing suicidal acts.
I enjoy the slight humorous tone to it and that's how I *personally* handle a sensitive and personal topic, but I can absolutely see how this could be extremely off-putting to a typical person.
I love how the author has just completely leaned into the ridiculousness of the entire premise unapologetically. Bedazzled noose the main magical girl uses to transform with? Check. Giving her the last name 'Aokigahara'? Check. Making a mechanic of the world that the heroines have to save the dead person within 4 hours, 44 minutes, and 44 seconds? Check. It's camp.
I very genuinely can't wait to see where this goes as it has all my favorite trimmings of a dark magical girl story. Hopefully, it will get a translated release sometime soon.
I saw this online. It's such a odd but great way of this author to approach this topic. The horror like art style but the cute and lovely aspects, it has the wholesome and the horrific. Personally to me it greatly shows how fear can work. Although the concept is odd sometimes but how even the bad have fears of their own and their own suffering then how the main characters always have their own fears and you saw they had bad coping ways, one wanted to kill themselves and another, an idol suffering from her own fears. Then although unhealthy aswell found an odd form of hope in a girl who through her grief decided to rather join the other, live for them. It was a lovely read.
Very deserving of a read although for those who don't like gore, not so much as it has a lot of gory aspects.
