Project Z

Rate this book
Thirteen ordinary Angelenos desperately seek to survive the horrors and destruction of a bloody zombie apocalypse and reluctantly embark on a quest to reach the safety of a bunker in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Zoe Beauchamp, a strong-willed woman, takes the helm and leads the group through a white-knuckle race through the zombie infestation, only to be shockingly confronted with the most exhilarating conundrum of her life in a mind-blowing living dead adventure with a Deja Vu-like twist.

As a result of a global infection, blood-craving zombies crawl from the cracks and crannies of crumbling cities, crippling the crew’s chances to complete their quest.

This is a zombie book about human survival in a post-apocalyptic world where the walking dead dispatch death and terror with impunity. The power of the human spirit illuminates the dark path of hell on earth and in the end emerges victorious only to face another zombie reality.

Born in the land of Vlad the Impaler, Edmond Geanta grew up and studied Cybernetics in Romania.

At twenty-four he emigrated to America and on 4th of July 1990 with only $23 in his pocket, Edmond landed in New York. Later that year, he somehow ended up in Detroit, Michigan. He is still wondering about that…

After years of consulting in project management and strategy, it dawned on him that project management was like constantly dodging zombies. Inspired, but mainly bored to death during the Covid shut down, he put his thoughts on paper and his first book, “Project Z” was launched in Ju

In his new series – “Blood Calls for Blood” Edmond takes the reader through a mind-numbing action ride. The series is peppered with love, humor, horror, but mainly the human spirit for hope and survival. But make no mistake, although vampires and zombies are the backdrop of his writing, the human element surfaces in every one of the pages of this thrilling saga.

On a personal level, I enjoy a glass of good scotch and love to travel around the world. My favorite places are San Sebastian in Basque country, and Blue Lagoon in Iceland. Saturday afternoons are usually spent at the local Barnes & Noble immersed in reading history and biographies while sipping a never-ending espresso.”

Zoe Beauchamp was just enjoying a lunch at work with her dad when the world flipped upside down. Zombies started attacking, and her company was responsible.

It’s suddenly imperative that she brings the small crew of workers still alive from LA to Fort Collins… and the only have a few days to get there in this apocalyptic world before the bunker will close indefinitely and leave them stranded in this zombie-infested world.

I enjoy zombie plots, so right from the start I knew I’d enjoy this book. From the second page, though, I realized that I’d never read a zombie book written for adults before. 😂 I was thrown off by the vivid descriptions of the rotting zombie flesh. Peeling that layer off, though, I really enjoyed the premise. I loved how Zoe stepped up to the plate and was more of a boss than Rick Grimes (yup) because she only grew stronger because of her challenges and she didn’t go crazy or lose her humanity and started killing the living. Also, my inner feminist LOVED that the hero in the book was a woman, rather than just another man with the women cowering in the background waiting to be saved.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The twist at the beginning of part two, then the twist at the end were perfect, setting this zombie novel apart from all the others.

If you can stomach decomposing corpses and groserías muy feas (in Spanish, mostly, but English too), this book is for you!

I recommend this book to who’s preference leans towards the unmistakable style of John Grisham or David Baldacci and their vocabulary includes every so often the 5 classic Ws (Who, What, ...) escorted by How, How Much and other doubts of preference. A journey with double twisted ending satisfies the craving for witty, picturesque and well-crafted sentences.

The characters present the opportunity to trigger revisiting some of the personal maps, discover new facts and possibly putting in a different shade your own “why?”. It could be, also, regarded as a different perspective on perceiving reality while tackling fundamentals of micro and macro happenings humanity is facing and will face in the near future.

For good reasons, I couldn’t dope out the meaning of the license plate “4T2Five” in spite of “four twenty” time hint but have enjoyed using google several times and for some unknown reasons made me think that AI might sometimes stand for Artificial Ignorance.

Unique Plot

I enjoyed this book and the characters as they navigated through a zombie apocalypse. The characters were interesting especially the leader Zoe. The plan to get from California to Fort Collins Colorado was full of danger, adventure, and extreme human drama. The twist at the end was a shock and thinking back there were some very subtle clues. It definitely made this book more enjoyable and I truly hope there is another book to follow.

Survival

A hot zombie apocalypse read that is a real page turner. If you like action and zombie fighting you won’t be disappointed. However I have one caveat. This read is sorely lacking in diversity. No African Americans in the group. Zombies? Yes but not in the group fighting to get across the country. As an African American I had an issue with that. Otherwise as I said before good exciting read.

Great twist, but oh, the typos!

This book needs serious editing. It seemed I was only a few words in, and I caught the first typo. That usually kills it for me. I hung in there, though, through all the stops & starts of reporting errors. I'm glad I did, because the story itself was good. The constant errors nearly ruined it for me, though, hence only 4 stars.

Good but confuing

I read the blood calls for.blood series first so this book I really enjoyed until he end. It doesn't make much sense. It was a well.written book but I am disappointed in how the book ends. If the end is to be believed them how can the blood calls for blood series be real. Sorry but I prefer the other books .

Riveting novel! Of course, as a zombie author myself, I enjoy the perspectives of other authors. This book grabbed my attention from the first chapter! The character development was intriguing and the story, while cliche as expected in zombie tropes, also captivated my attention. I'm glad I chose to read this novel as part of my 2023 Goodreads Reading Challenge.

Don't pass this one by!

For everyone who loves an apocalyptic zombie epic story this one's for you! Complex characters, non stop action complete with the appropriate smattering of gore and surprise after surprise for an epic conclusion... Until the next one!

A well earned five star review.

Edmond Geanta really has what it takes. Zoe and the crew are put through the wringer more than once in this book. I would love for it to become a series. The big plot twist threw me for a loop, but I loved it!

Read this after I read books 1-8 series. When I started this I wasn’t sure if it was the same zombie story line. Enjoyed the book but now I need more. Also I have so many questions…

The story was choppy and convoluted. The characters were flat. The action was non-existent.
