In the morning, Dr. Viktoria Thorsdottir begins her assignment at Amour Cosmetic Surgery, and in the afternoon, she’s wondering what the hell she’s doing there.

Viktoria’s temporary anesthesiologist’s position at Amour is perfectly situated on Long Island, NY, and near home where she’ll spend a rare month with her husband. However, both places are giving her the creeps.

>>> Do all of Amour’s procedures, such as facelifts, tummy tucks, and breast augmentation, turn their patients into Hollywood goddesses?

Dr. Thorsdottir discovers that the strip-mall beautification center runs like a well-oiled machine but, as the days go by, she is privy to what goes on behind-the-scenes. She now wonders if the center’s treatment of patients has anything to do with the “standard of care.” No longer guessing about the integrity of Amour’s business and surgical expertise, she ends up with a dead patient.

>>> This is Book Two in the Outlander Physician Series. The unpredictable saga of the physician from Iceland continues!

Barbara Ebel is an award-winning and USA Today Bestselling Author who sprinkles credible medicine into the background of her medical suspense novels. Since she is a physician and specialized in Anesthesiology, her operating room scenes shine. However, her vivid characters and plots take center stage.

She has penned three medical suspense series, and two separate medical novels. Definitely check out the New Book Release at the bottom.....

“Doctor Barbara’s” Dr. Annabel Tilson series includes six books (which can each stand alone), and is based on a female medical sleuth who promises exciting times on the wards as well as in her personal life. Two books in the series have won awards: Death Grip, the 4th book, won the 2018 NIEA award (National Indie Excellence Award), and Deadly Delusions won the 2017 Kindle Book Awards Semi-Finalist for thrillers.

Her first series, the Dr. Danny Tilson novels, takes place in Tennessee and is based on a neurosurgeon who has his hands full in the O.R. as well as in his personal life due to a female villainess, a favorite character of readers (who have a love-hate relationship with her). Dr. Danny’s third book, Collateral Circulation, was the 2015 National Indie Excellence Awards Finalist for Medical Thrillers. Operation Neurosurgeon, the first book in the series, was the top finalist for best-selling medical mystery books in 2012. (Best Selling Books' blog announced on PR Buzz Press Release Wire, Chicago, IL).

Dr. Ebel lives in a natural wildlife corridor in Tennessee with her husband and dogs. She maintains an active, non-clinical role in medicine, and loves to hear from readers.

In addition to her adult writing, she has illustrated and penned a children's book series called Chester the Chesapeake. The books developed during her philanthropic visits with her therapy dog, Chester. The dog books continue to inspire adults and children alike. (Chester the Chesapeake).

NEW BOOK RELEASE April 2024:

"BLUE, the Deaf Agility Dog," is a heartwarming story about BLUE, who is a deaf, rescued dog owned and trained by the author.

Loved it!

What a wonderful book to read while sheltering inside! I cannot wait for the next one! I loved the characters and wish the book was longer! I hope she continues her adventures in Iceland.

quite an expose of some medical practices

There were so many sweet and bittersweet moments in this book as the protagonist, an anesthesiologist, discovers fraudulent practices in a plastic surgery clinic on Long Island. It was painful to watch her gradual realization of the sort of medical practice she was assigned to for a month. And it was a shocker, too see how easily people could be duped, putting their life savings and their lives unknowingly on the line.

Another great story

Dr Viktoria takes a temp position in a local plastic surgery clinic and discovers horrific issues . In meantime, her marijuana addicted husband, instead of quitting, gets worse . So sad.
A couple of typos , not as bad as the previous book , which was also a terrific medical sleuth story .

Corruption in the O.R and Wretched Results

I'm always interested in medical books . Wretched Results was an easy read. I couldn't put the book down. The medical terms were easy to understand and
the storyline was wonderful. I'd recommend this book and Barbara's 1st book Corruption in the O.R.

Another great read by this author!

Barbara does it again! Believable characters and interesting medical facts too. Hopefully, events like this don't really happen, but they probably do. I sure hope there is another book after this one.

Can't believe there are only 2 books in this series. What happen to Viktoria? What about Iceland? Does Jeff go to see her. ? Do they ever see each other?? Love the series, just didn't want to end the way it did.

A myth dispelled

After reading two of dr ebels novels I found the subject of anasesiology fascinating. I never realized how complex their work actually is and how broad their knowledge must be.

Well crafted book. As an Allied healthcare professional who works in plastics, I found this book description of the specialist area totally on point. Thank you Barbara. Next 🙏 please please continue Victoria and Jeff’s story .

really interesting

I’ve been reading the Outlander doctor & Dr. Danny Tilson novels for a few months now. Medical thrillers are what draws me to Dr. Barbara Ebel’s novels. I’m a huge fan, & I can’t wait for future novels!

beware of ultimate beauty

Is it worth it to Die to be perfect? U r perfect don’t risk it all. Ask the patients that thought it was worth everything. Ask Joan Rivers if it was worth it.

So good

Love this author who is new for me. I love medical stories being in the field. Well written, factual, interesting writing. Fiction writing based on actual truth in the medical field, really any field today where greedy power hungry individuals roam.

Good Reading

Would be nice to see a book 3, where Victoria and her mom and Millie land in Ice Land, and than Jeff comes out to purpose better intentions. Like marriage. But read both books, and enjoyed them both.

Outstanding

Good wills out over evil....just have to be patient and wait for the system to win. It will when good people are at the helm.

Not enough mystery

More focus needed on the mystery and less on personal life of characters. More medical details would have made it more interesting

2nd in the Outlander Physician series, believable scenarios, doctors greed, putting patience in danger for their profit. Interesting how a doctor can be so cruel.
