I have received an ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Susan Dern is missing so it’s Jane’s job to find out who did it. Until the FBI come and take over the case. Will that stop Jane from wanting to investigate? I don’t think so!
Superhero movies are not silly, Jane! xD They are really good!
I hope Jane is right about this being her second chance. Wild Cove is good for her.
Is Jack her consultant now? I kind of like it! Reminds me of Rick from Castle.
Sheriff Williams is still around even if he’s not in this story. Of course he is. Why are the FBI working with him?! Not right at all!
Who knew such a small town like Wild Cove could have lots of drama. Not that I’m complaining. I do love this series!
I was so wrong about who the kidnapper was! What a twist! Didn’t expect it one bit!
My Grandad has Dementia but luckily he’s in an aged care centre.
Another great story from a wonderful writer! It had me hooked from start to finish! It’s definitely something I would read again.

It's the second book in the series and follows sheriff Jane how she's investigate the missing of Susan Dern. Susan is kidnapped just a few feet in front of her house. Since it is no business for Susan to not speak up, the parents call Jane to say she is missing. With almost the entire neighborhood, they search everything until they see traces in the snow of a struggle. The city is worried. People start seeing things that aren't there at night and even accuse each other of being involved. Parents are terrified of leaving their children everywhere alone. Suspicion is something terrible. Then suddenly the FBI comes to the door and takes over the whole thing. Together with Jack, Pastor Callaghan and Deputy Morris, Jane forms a conspiracy to investigate the case of Susan from her old farmhouse. This short mystery has a great plot and I enjoyed it to the end. It's swirling with action, emotions, twists and turns.
The eponymous victim, 16 year old Susan Dern, is abducted just metres from her home, as she makes her accustomed short walk from her boyfriend's home one evening. The alarm is soon raised and her father Larry, concerned neighbors and local, newly-appointed Sheriff Jane Scott, are soon out looking for signs of the young woman in the post-Christmas snow.
A shocking, but sad truth reveals the answer, after Sheriff Jane, her boyfriend Jack, her Deputy and the local Pastor form an investigation team of their own, following the takeover of Susan Dern's case by the FBI. Why is Jane on a window-ledge? How is Henry Wright involved?
A cleverly disguised villain and an unexpected reason for more than one abduction, makes Laura Greene's Susan Dern is Missing, a fascinating suspense-thriller you won't want to miss!
This is the first though I have read the prequel to this one. Jane is the sheriff and Susan Dern a 16 yr old is missing. She walked home from her boyfriend's house at night during a snowstorm and is now missing. Where could she be and what has happened. Jane then has the FBI storm in and say they are taking the case with no help from Jane or her staff. Well Jane can't do nothing so she has her boyfriend, her deputy and the minister help her find who is doing this and where is the girl. Good one!
I searched for this book and it took a while to find it on Amazon Unlimited because the prequel was very interesting and read well. But this book reads like the Cliff Notes version of a really good murder mystery. I don’t know if it was the changing perspective from first person to third with out cause, or the outlined read of the book. I really hope the next one is written better because I like the stories so far but the writing needs work.
5.0 out of 5 stars Twisty thriller! Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2020
This short read is very well done. I really like the main characters and the secondary ones flesh out the story. There were plenty of twists to this short story. I look forward to reading where this series goes. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
AN EASILY READ SHORT STORY THAT HAS ALL THE DARK AND DANGEROUS ELEMENTS WE LOVE IN LAURA'S BOOKS. A SAVVY AUTHOR, SHE CAN WRITE AN INTENSE WORK IN VERY FEW WORDS. RECOMMENDED. AN ARC BOOK, THIS IS M HONEST FREELY GIVEN REVIEW.
A quick read that has Jane Scott on another weird case. As usual, what you think is going on is not the case. The action is quick and there is more as another installment will be ready to read.
I think murder at wild cove was a stronger story and better written. I definitely enjoyed the plot of this one and want to see it blossom into something bigger and overarching through the next stories.
