Kaylee Rose is a mother, sports fan, and contemporary romance author looking to stretch her creative muscles and explore other genres as well.
Inspired by her husband's career in law enforcement, and her passion for the written word, Kaylee began to pen her novels as an escape from the rigors of everyday life. She admits teaching herself the craft of writing has been a tough, but wonderful journey, and is just the creative outlet that she needs. Writing time is her time, and she protects the hard-won moments fiercely.
Kaylee’s series The Weight of the Badge was written after she attended required law enforcement classes with her husband. The seminars focused on the stress a first responder faces daily, how it affects their lives both on and off the job, and the continually growing number of law enforcement suicides. With her books and her experience married to a law enforcement officer, Kaylee found herself armed with the perfect platform to use her voice and subtly spread the statistics others may not know. Kaylee Rose is passionate about sharing sexy stories with an important message mixed in.
Kaylee’s husband is her biggest supporter, believing in her even when she can not, and writing love stories comes naturally to her after falling in love with him at first sight.
A wonderfully sweet, romantic and realistic love story of two kind loving people haunted by tragedy. Both Lance (a Sheriff's Deputy) & Kellie (aunt & guardian of her 3 yr old niece, Rory) have encountered deep & tragic loss of those they loved & cared for deeply. in an effort to find hope, love & faith beyond the dark losses they come together for one blissful night. But the next day reality rears it's frightening head, driving the normally calm thoughtful Lance to flee everything & everyone without a word . . . .
I found this to be beautifully & touchingly written. Tragedy & hope deftly expressed & detailed, making this reader CARE about Lance, Kellie & Rory, as well as Lance & Kellie's potential for love & a future together. It held my interest, there were no parts I skipped/skimmed or wanted to. I needed to know & understand what was motivating Lance & Kellie & the peeks into their thoughts were appreciated, enlightening & made their actions & reactions plausible & realistic. A joy to read a story where the characters are genuinely caring & kind AND mature. And, I found Lance's perspective as an officer fascinating & admirable. Again, a beautifully written, loving yet deeply emotional (I teared up during Lance's ceremony speech) tale of two emotionally hurting people trying to find love & a future.
Kaylee has wowed me again with book 2 in The Weight Of The Badge series. The story flowed on perfectly from book 1, pulling me right back into the struggles and heart aches that both Kellie and Lance are dealing with as this story evolves. I was choked up especially with the Graduation scene, I loved that Kaylee added this part to the story, it was a beautiful sentiment. ANDDDDD that ending OMG!!!!!! my heart rate sky rocketed... I'm dying for book 3 more so now. LOVED IT.......
It's been quite a wait to find out what became of Kellie and Lance, but I wasn't disappointed at all.
I won't spoil what happens but it isn't plain sailing for the pair and yes, part 2 does end on a BIG cliffhanger, which means we get to learn more about these two in part 3 (Hurry up, please!).
It's a great story, human, relatable and much better than what is churned out in the romance genre these days.
Book two in The Weight of the Badge series rejoins Lance Malloy, a sheriff deputy processing his partner's death, and Kellie Bryant a young woman raising her 3-year-old niece after her sister's death. In her signature authentically warm, and approachable voice the author Kaylee Rose pilots us through the rough waters of grief, new love, parenting, and life in the family of blue.
A sexy romance, that is so much more than just a romance. Forever Blue tackles the real, sometimes heartbreaking, often unexpected issues facing law enforcement officers and their families in a deeply authentic and sometimes irreverent way, that as a member of the family of blue I found endearing, amusing, and real!
This story has it all, sexy policemen, competent strong women, lovable families, cute kids, crazy ex-girlfriends, steamy romance, ice cream, and purple unicorns!
It will leave you begging for the next installment in the series!!!
I have looked forward to the continuation of Kellie and Lance's story and this doesn't disappoint, in fact, it takes the story up a notch to real-life territory. Yes, there are matters of the heart and trauma to deal with, but throw in a pain in the arse ex-girlfriend and a shocking cliffhanger, this has me itching for book 3 now. A well-written follow-up with believability.
Another emotional story from beginning to end. I lost my best friend in high school to suicide I didn't understand why and I still don't to this day. I can only imagine what our police officers go through day in and day out and what their families go though as well. Definitely know that feeling of one more chapter on my Kindle especially on weekends when I am up reading til 1 am. I really liked how Lance talked about his childhood memories with his dad that brought back similar memories my family was heavily in to scouting as well. I really thought Patricia had finally taken the hint she was not welcome but in the end I wanted to reach into my Kindle and choke the life out of her hey I still do. I really need to find out how Lance and Kellie's story plays out and to bring Rory home safely. I still believe that they have a chance at love and a happily ever after.
Great second book to this series. Kept me turning the pages until there were no more.
Strong story line, which captivates and pulls you into the story leaving you wanting the next book, while satisfied with the ending for this story. A solid 5 stars.
Ok so I may have made the mistake of jumping in on Book Two – but I totally loved Lance and Kellie and will be rushing back to read Family of Blue. Lance sees his forever in Kellie, and thinks he’s found someone that can handle his job as well, until he starts to question everything and walk away. Kellie although she sees her happily ever after with Lance, with the help of some friends she starts to wonder if she’s seeing the real reason Lance walked away. Although there are some pieces of the puzzle put right in front of you, you can’t work them out till the end, when Kellie and Lance realise the biggest threat is closer than they think. Will they get their happily ever after- that’s hard to say without putting in some spoilers. I will be interested to see if any of the other characters are getting their own story.
I don’t even know where to start. Forever Blue is a very gritty look at the life of a cop through the lens of a new relationship and instant family - with all the ups and downs associated with dating in a world of shift work, danger, and loss.
Rose masterfully writes a sexy love story that makes you both laugh and cry. I fell even more deeply in love with the characters in this second book of the series and found myself entranced in their world.
Be ready with tissues and at least one glass of wine for this one-click read!
The emotive themes continue to flow throughout book 2 in The Weight of The Badge series, with the characters working through their issues, which as in Family of Blue are relatable to all walks of life. Rory continues to be an absolute delight. The cliffhanger was a BIG jaw dropper and left me wanting book 3 asap!!!
I want to say so much about this book but don't want to spoil it aside from saying it was well written and gripping. L & K's journey is true to life and what happens in new relationships when outside forces come into play. This does end with a whopper of a cliffhanger which might annoy some, but it leaves me excited for book 3.
I really enjoyed the way this book flows. It feels like a real life love story could actually play out. The characters are so good together and the banter just makes it so much fun to read. Can’t wait for the next one.?
The author has given us an emotional and well written story that brings together Lance and Kellie from the first book.
Lance is dealing with some demons and Kellie is trying to raise her deceased sister’s little girl the best she can. Are they able to be what the other needs?
Throw in a psychopathic ex-girlfriend and who knows!
Oh my goodness! This book hit me square in the feels. I really love Lance and Kellie. The devotion that they both have to little Rory is perfection. I love the story, the flow, being in this world and getting to know more and more about them. The book is full of different emotions and left me hurting. I'll be waiting for the next book in this series.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The life of a Police Officer is one most cannot comprehend. They have the same emotional feelings, struggles, as everyone, then throw into how society treats them, and what they deal with daily on the job and it truly can be a burden on them. They need breaks, for mental health, well being, probably more than most, then throw in a family situation, you have that emotional side, feelings. This story will truly tear at your ❤️ heart.
"Does the universe push two people together, or is it simply a chance meeting? Are we solely responsible for our future, with destiny only a figment of our imagination?"
If you haven't read book 1, Family of Blue, I'm not going to try not spoil anything for you here.
Let's just say that these two are amazing together. They've recovered from the first rounds of hard times, never faltering in their love for one another. Things seem to be going great, even with the adjustment of being in "Blue Love" as I call it - missed dinners, late nights, etc. But, once again, tragedy strikes, threatening to put a wedge between them, and change both of their lives forever.
I could not put this down. Had it not been for having to work, I'm sure I would have finished it in one sitting. Don't tell my boss, but I did have my kindle propped up on my desk so I could steal a few pages here and there, and I'm not sure how much of that Zoom meeting I actually paid attention to, but, oh well.
The ending of this one had me gasping, then yelling "Nooooooooo!" Now, I really need the next book stat!!
This is an amazing series! You don't want to miss out!! If you haven't read Book 1, I urge you to do it right now!! If you have read book 1, then don't stop now!! Grab this one!!
Now they are together but so much to overcome getting use to Lance cop hours. Not being there. She something she will have to .I knew who did her car . That woman is nuts and now what she did oh boy. And Kelli taking it out on Lance could change everything with them her blaming Lance .I personally who no way let a 3 year old alone. No matter where they are at .
This book is full of so much excitement, mystery and one adventure after another. The author does a great job of putting you into each adventure. You will enjoy being pulled into the story.
Book 2 in the series is just as amazing as the first. Kaylee Rose doesn’t disappoint with the follow up to Family of Blue. We get to know Kellie and Lance even more. There hopes, dreams, and fears. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I highly recommend this book.
Really Another Cliffhanger? Worse Yet the next book is not done yet!
It's a good thing I have fallen in love with this series or I would be throwing my Kindle against a wall right now! I hate waiting for a sequence to a novel! Depending on how long it takes for the next book to be released and how many books I have read in between, I might have to read a series all over again before I remember where I left off. Yet, many of my favorite authors use this technique and it does keep me eager to read the next book. This is especially true of Kaylee Rose's The Weight of the Badge series! I have already pre-ordered book 3 of this series, without a second thought. This series is that good! Forever Blue, book 2 in this law enforcement romance, picks up where Family of Blue left off. The topic of suicide amongst law enforcement and It's effect on those who are left to pick up the pieces of their life is handled masterfully by Kaylee Rose. She has woven a wonderful story around a rather dark topic. Kaylee, though, writes hope and really does make you believe that love can conquer all. With her empathy for the men ,and women, who protect us from crime and her skilled storytelling, what could be a dull, clinical expose, becomes a witty tale of love and laughter in the face of danger. Kaylee Ross's characters are so well-developed you easily imagine them as real as your community Sherrif's department. Though I have yet to meet anyone as sexy as Lance in my local law enforcement, I hold out hope that they are out there! And you can't help but admire the quiet strength of the female heroine, Kellie. Kaylee's vivid descriptions of her characters and their lives kept me mesmerized for hours! I again finished this book in one long sitting, easily ignoring the dishes and dust bunnies gathering in my house! Good thing I am retired, plenty of time to get the house cleaned! There are some steamy sex scenes, but I love how Kaylee Rose balances the lovemaking with the rest of the story. Sex seems to fit seamlessly into the plot. It just belongs in the tale at just that moment, enhancing the story rather than becoming the whole of the novel. Finally, the suspense in this novel is perfect. It sets up the story arc, providing that feeling of being on a rollercoaster ride. There are highs and lows, mixed with enough twists, that leads to the climax and keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. I remember reading the final sentence and thinking, "I should have seen that coming!" I can only hope that Kaylee is busy writing Out of the Blue, book 3 of The Weight of the Badge series, because I can't wait to see what happens next.
Forever Blue is book two of The Weight of the Badge series and continues the journey and struggles of both Kellie and Lance. As they try to get past one set of bad times, tragedy strikes once again. A page turning and emotional read that captivated me from the first page until the last. Highly recommend!!
I loved this from the beginning. This an amazing series and Forever Blue will pull you in and you want to keep reading until the end. Lance and Kellie’s chemistry is off the charts. You will be on the edge of your seat wanting to see what happens? Kaylee Rose gives us a captivating, exciting, emotional story that you will love and want more of. A must must read
Wow. Trish send relentless. She's got psycho tendencies and she will not stop until Lance is back with her. Putting a wedge between Lance and Kellie is a start, even if it's in the means of little Rory. Being in a relationship with a cop is one thing, but to know that your life can be flipped upside down in a blink of an eye is another. Not sure how it will turn out, but I hope someone has a happy ending
I will say Kaylee Rose has really done an excellent job in keeping you on the edge of your seat and turning pages. The connection between Lance and Kellie is out of sight and then you add in Patricia the ex-girlfriend and her feeling for Lance you have an explosion of emotions. This book does end with a cliffhanger and we will wait patiently for book 3. Enjoy
I normally don't like cliff hangers, but this book is so well written that I HAVE to keep reading!! Patricia/Trish continues to cause trouble with her obsession over Lance. Then she crosses the line and does the unforgivable, she ......! You have to read the book to find out what!! 😁
The first two book were amazing but waiting until January 2022 for the third book is not my idea of a fun read. I usually do not read a series where it in comes in 3 different books. I loved the story but had I of known the third was not ready to read I would not of read any. I will forget about the third one con next year. No happy about the way the books were stretched out. Sorry but nope not for me. I loved them really did but...................
Such a great story. I LOVE how so many real life situations are weaved throughout these stories. It helps when you can relate to the characters. Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, but I am looking forward to finishing up this chapter.
