(A Silver Reckoning is a stand-alone short story with the insta-love of fated mates. The start of this story was part of Stormy Glenn’s Summer ManLove Fantasies 2020 but has been expanded.)
Silver Page is a twenty-one year old vampire and business owner. He lives an honest quiet life as a mechanic but that’s all about to change. You see, every paranormal must take a test when they turn twenty-one. No one knows why or what it’s for only that it’s the law. If rumors are to be believed those who’ve scored a 95 or higher always disappear never to be heard from again. When Silver scores a 99 after guessing at the answers it’s his turn to vanish.
Raven Vaneyer is the future king of all paranormals. When the current king attempted to have him killed as a baby, Raven’s parents whisked him away to raise him in secret in the hopes that one day he’d take his place on the throne and save them all. With King Nefar’s paranoia and corruption growing by the day, Raven must confront him and take the throne that should be his. Only, before he can he has to find his fated Consort.
With a blood moon on the horizon, the time for Raven to battle Nefar is close at hand. The question is, will he do it with a Consort by his side or will he miss his chance?

The story sets in an alternate world where I can see a good world building development there. For a story so short, the author did an amazing squeezing everything in. But that's a double edge sword because everything felt so rushed out.I want more of Raven and Silver. This totally magnifies my love hate relationship with short novels. The plot was so good but it was rushed and concise. fated mates.. actions.. battles.. all in one but brief.
Rating: 3 stars I liked the premise of this story better than I did the execution. I think the story suffered because things just happened to0 fast and came to0 easy. I didn’t feel like the MCs really had to work at anything and final battle was way to anticlimactic. All in all, the story was just okay.
This is the most far fetched and unbelievable story I have ever read.
DNF.
30% in and I was gaping at it. There was no chemistry. The characters didn't know each other. It was utterly unrealistic and stupid. So stupid that I can't even remember the characters names. Or appearance or anything at all. Even though I just read this a minute ago.
The world building was amazing. The king of the paranormals is marked at birth and a consort is born to balance the king. Unfortunately, the last kings have ignored or did not wait for their consorts, making them unstable. The present king has ordered killed anyone born with the mark. Raven, though was hidden and now the time has come for him to take the throne.
Silver Page takes a test at 21 as required. He has his own business and leads a quiet life. He scores 99 and the come for him, only to be rescued by Raven's people.
There is so much to this story but some of it felt rushed to me. Silver changes so fast and with no problems. I did enjoy reading it and would read more set in this world.
Silver is a vampire but never mentioned he drinks blood. After all the praises about King Nefar's power, I thought it will be epic batttle between Raven and Silver against King Nefar but in reality, he's too easy to be defeated. The story is not exciting and thrilling like my initial thought, just so so.

I enjoyed the mating between Raven and Silver. The world building was quite unique and the characters were very fascinating. I always love my happy endings and this book did not disappoint. Nicely done.
So... this wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't great either. It was super fast-paced and the climax fell short. I also usually love terms of endearment, but theirs repeated over and over again on every.single.page.
It was a good story. I just didn't like the whole power thing about it. They being soooo powerful that no one was even a match and they could actually do anything and had all that magic.
