Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother.
She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her.
She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.
On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!
A New Beginning Emily Taylor is being forced into an arranged marriage with elderly Marquis of Smithton by her father Viscount Chesterton. Her only hope of avoiding the marriage is for Viscount Havisham to agree to elope with her, afterall they have danced on several occasions. Unfortunately for Emily Havisham is too honourable & won’t poach a betrothed lady. Now two years later Emily is a wealthy widow & arrives back in London where she's approached by Miss Bavidge & her friends requesting her aid in finding husbands & so the Spinsters Guild is formed. I thoroughly enjoyed this start of a new series, I felt for Emily as the picture drawn of a young girl marrying a much older man was very well described. I loved that Emily returned to London much stronger & determined to live life as she wanted. Lord Havisham whilst wanting to court Emily was too honourable to do anything to help her but now she’s back he wants to start again. I loved that Emily made him almost grovel & didn’t fall into his waiting arms. Strong characters & a well written well paced story meant I read this novella in a sitting & I'm looking forward to reading how the Guild develops & how Emily & Havisham's relationship develops. This is very much a teaser of a series starter & there is much to be resolved in later books to.
The Disgraced Bride Miss Emma Bavidge’s father’s disgrace has ruined her reputation and left her struggling in society. Her one hope is Lady Emily Smithton, who leads ‘The Spinsters Guild’ and has promised to help. When questioned, however, Emma cannot pretend that she is immune to the charms of one gentleman in particular. Viscount Nathaniel Morton cannot help but feel sorry for Emma. One thing is for certain – he cannot allow her to know the truth about the part he played in bringing about her father’s fall from grace, not even if he begins to find his heart yearning for no one but her! A well written enjoyable read. The pace was good & the characters had depth. I wished Emma had had a different Christian name as at the beginning I kept confusing Emma & Emily. I would have also liked an epilogue & to have learned what happened to the villain unless we find out in subsequent books!
A Gentleman’s Revenge Sarah Crosby is staying with distant relatives & acting as chaperone to Sophia Marks. Sarah visits Lady Smithton’s house with her friend Emma Bavidge & Lady Smithton agrees to help Sarah find a husband. Daniel Viscount Ruddington is on a mission, to catch the eye of Miss Marks, he’s so eager to get to her that he bumps into another young lady, Sarah. Whilst helping her to her feet he discovers her relationship to his quarry. Sarah introduces Daniel & Sophia, Daniel secures two dances with Sophia & is shamed by Lady Smithton into also asking Sarah for two dances but he does not appear for the second dance. Daniel & Sarah bump into each other again at a modiste's shop & he fails to remember her. Another well written book which flowed well & I read it in a sitting. The characters have depth. I liked put upon Sarah from the start & wanted her to find someone who loved her. I also liked how she gained confidence throughout the book. I thoroughly disliked Daniel at the beginning, standing someone up for a dance – black mark. Failing to remember Sarah - larger black mark. I did wonder if he'd be able to redeem himself once his motives were revealed to find out if he did then you'll have to read this lovely book
A Foolish Wager Lady Amelia Ferguson was a tomboy & when she was twelve fell from a tree & broke her leg which has left her with a limp, even though she is the daughter of the late Earl of Stockbridge, London society does not regard her as of any importance because of her limp. She hopes that Lady Smithton can help her in finding a kind, gentle, and accepting gentleman for a husband. Lord Oliver Montague is a gentleman with both fortune and influence. Blackmailed into a wager by Lord Davidson he must take or lose his reputation in the ton, he is forced to court Lady Amelia and try to win the bet of making Lady Amelia fall in love with him and state those words aloud. This book is the fourth in the series & this time not everything goes according to Lady Smithson’s plan. I liked Oliver & how he fell for Amelia but he’d dug himself into a hole with the bet & his way out showed how he really felt. I hated the members of the ton who belittled & were down right nasty to Amelia & warmed even more to Oliver when he defended her. I liked how Amelia grew in confidence when she realised some people saw her not her limp. Another delightful story, which I read in a sitting & I look forward to Lady Smithson realising what is in front of her nose
A lord Undone Lady Beatrice Thornton is surrounded by gossip. Her drunken father has made it known that there is some question over the legitimacy of her birth and now she can barely lift her head in society. Desperate for aid, she is more than grateful for the assistance of Lady Emily Smithton, who promises that she will help her find a husband. Whilst seeking solace in a bookshop one afternoon, Beatrice is astonished to discover a mysterious note slipped in between the pages of a book. She can't resist taking the note even though she knows she shouldn't. Frederick, Earl of Greaves, is a stickler for propriety. It is all the more irritating to him that he has had to step into an unscrupulous situation in order to rescue his brother. What makes matters worse is that the last note has somehow gone missing and that, somehow, a young lady has become entwined in it too! The final book in the series, it could be read on its own but to fully appreciate it & Lady Smithton I’d recommend reading from the beginning. Poor Beatrice having to live with her drunken, gambling indiscreet father she deserved better, I really liked her & how she grew in confidence. Oh Frederick he was so pernickety but he also became far more caring as the story unfolded. A well written story that flowed well. The stars of the book & the series are Lady Smithton & Lord Havisham especially Havisham who I've loved throughout the series. I read the books individually when they were first published & I’m so gla they've been put together in a boxset as the stories do flow one after another
A NEW BEGINNING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ In the beginning of the book it kind of dripped the plot of the story a little at a time. It wasn't until a little over half way of the book that it really became interesting. I must say that it made up for the prior part. I loved reading about how in two years that the timid, afraid, bullied debutante Miss Emily Taylor became the courageous and direct speaking person she longed to be. She was now the widowed Lady Smithton. Part of the story covers her relationship with Viscount Havisham. He rejected her prior to her wedding Lord Smithton and has regretted it since. He lays his heart bare to her asking for forgiveness. In the meantime, her evil father is spreading rumors of her and her dead husband that are not true. For nefarious reasons he wants her under his roof again. The best part of the book begins with a surprising twist to the story. It is Emily's acquaintance with four young ladies in need of social aid. They are in awe of her and find the way she handles herself in society regardless of the rumors is admirable. When I got to the end, I said "OH NO" I have to wait for the next book to find out what will happen next. I really believe this series will only get better and better. THE DISGRACED BRIDE: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oh my goodness.... now that I have finished the book I have a headache. The tension of the last half of the book grew and grew to such proportions that when it finally blew up, I ended up with the release of a headache. I love this series "The Spinsters Guild". This is the second book and it is as fabulous as the first book "A New Beginning". Rose Pearson really knows how to get to the heart of the matter. Her wonderful characters are flawlessly realistic and that goes for the antagonist too. He was such a two-faced vile person set on revenge for being called out for his inappropriate behavior that caused a young lady's future to be blackened by disgrace. The hero’s original intent was to keep the incident as quiet as possible but the antagonist was a trusted friend of the hero and the hero confided in him. Only to have the antagonist break his word to his supposed friend and then bandied the incident all over London. The hero cut off the friendship never realizing what a phony person he was. Then everything backlashed onto the hero when faced with the heroine's confrontation for seeking the truth. After everything the H/h went through getting to know each other and falling in love. Because the hero's delay in speaking the truth he was spurned by the heroine because her thoughts by then were poisoned by the antagonist. What a mess. Luckily, they were surrounded by caring and trusting friends and all was resolved by the end. Thank goodness! I don't think I could have taken any more drama. An excellent story that I highly recommend. I look forward to book three of the series. A FOOLISH WAGER: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ What is that ole saying, what a web we weave when we practice to deceive. Or something like that. This is story is based on that ole saying. An innocent young lady with a limp, an infamous rake, a blackmailer. The rake is Lord Oliver, Earl of Montague. He had an illicit affair with a married woman, Lady Thornhill. If her husband were to find out the consequences would be devastating for him. He would be shunned from all polite society among other consequences. The blackmailer, Lord Davidson, was in desperate need of money and thought the easiest way to get it was to win a bet placed in White's bet book. Davidson set his sights on Oliver. He knew of his indiscretion with Lady Thornhill and threatened to reveal it to her husband. Davidson told him he had to win the love of a young lady who was mocked and treated with disdain and then walk away breaking her heart. Oliver did not want to do that but he also did not want to suffer at the hands of a powerful lord like Thornhill. He took the bet. His target to his shock was Lady Amelia. She is the daughter of the late Earl of Stockbridge and the niece of the current Earl, her uncle. Amelia broke her leg as a child and it left her with a limp. Her father was a mean man and never much cared for her. That continued throughout her life when her father was alive and now it continued with her uncle. Despite that she had a gentle heart, good morals, she was caring and kind. She is a beautiful young lady and would have been considered a diamond of the first water if it had not been for her limp. The ton was cruel and mocked her to her face. They had no compulsion in shaming her and treating her like she did not belong and letting her know she was not wanted. How she had the strength to live through that I do not know. She is stronger of character that she believes herself to be. I admire her character. For she lived each day full of misery, physical pain from her leg, an uncaring uncle and no hope for a suitor to marry her. Her companion and chaperone put Amelia in touch with Lady Smithton. If you have been reading the "Spinster's Guild" series you will remember she put it together to help young ladies who feel like outcasts from society but desperately needed help and guidance to navigate the ton successfully and perhaps find true love. Amelia was encouraged and over time let Lady Smithton assist her. Everything in Amelia's life was looking up until she met Oliver. She found him kind, attentive and attractive. But with his reputation she was warned by all to stay away and be wary of him. A very stimulating and poignant story of greed, self-preservation and the desire to be love. An excellent story and I do recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A delightful collection. I had the pleasure of reading each of these books when they first came out and enjoyed each one so much. The books all have a common theme of spinsters looking for love but in this one there is one lady who willing to help them find happiness. Below is just some of what I wrote about each book I hope you check out the collection they are really good books. I did receive free copies of these books and voluntarily chose to review them. A New Beginning: The story is really good forced into an arranged marriage with elderly Marquis of Smithton it take two years for Emily to get her freedom back. Lord Havisham who had always wanted Lady Emily now seek her out when she returns to ton, but it may not be as easy as he thinks. Miss Bavidge and her friends request Emily aid in finding husbands and so is the beginning of the Spinsters Guild. The Disgraced Bride: Okay, I am going to say it Lord Morton is kind of a milk toast character but then Emma is kind of surrounded by selfish and clueless jerks. Emma is not having an easy time traversing society and there are some people who will make it even harder. Emma does come up with a plan and you will enjoy reading about it. A Gentleman’s Revenge: When a wrong has been committed but no honorable action taken what is a gentleman to do is revenge really the answer. That is the question answered in this story. Anger drove this character, but in the end, love is what brought him peace and love is what has given her hope. It was a really good story and not till the end is there an ending a reader would like. A Foolish Wager: This was truly a lovely story about a rake who meets his match in a charming young woman. Amelia is just the right character to save Oliver and the change in him was grand. Oliver was a product of the Ton and live up to his reputation yet this season was finding it not as satisfying. I so wanted to see Amelia get a happy-ever-after. A Lord Undone: I really enjoyed this one Beatrice’s father is beyond horrible the pain he caused her was just mean. Thank God for Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham with their help she found her strength to just be herself. Now Frederick our other main character not only has a relationship with Beatrice to come to terms with but also another very pressing problem. This tale with a bit of mystery, a man finding out there is more to life than what he thought, and strong friends will make your day.

Five books full of adventure. Each tells a story about five women who are not new to the ton, they are what the people would call spinsters. They all join forces with a widower who isn’t that old but she helps these women to find suitable matches.
I have read each book and I have to say I truly enjoyed reading them. They each can be a standalone or wonderfully read together. Being in a box set is splendid. You won’t be disappointed with this collection.
My disclaimer... I was given a copy of each book for my honest review. Any book or novels I leave reviews on are not dependent on the book/novel review author’s opinion. No one influenced my voluntary review for any of the books or novels I read, they are my own opinions.
"The Spinster's Guild" boxset by Rose Pearson I did read all 5 of these stories. They are all sweet clean Regency Romance stories. I enjoyed my time within each story. I snipped what I thought were important phrases from each of my reviews of the individual stories. if you love clean sweet romance A clean Regency Romance with a lot of suspense. a fun light read is a clean, sweet, joy to read, Regency romance light suspense/mystery I do hope that you enjoy these stories as much as I did. Happy Reading ! !
What a delightful box set this is! The common thread in the set is Lady Emily Smithton. She is hope for girls who are close to becoming spinsters. There are mishaps and accidents, suspense and plot twists, but then happily ever afters. A wonderful set of stories from a fantastic storyteller! Highly recommend! I read each of these books as an advance copy from the author and I voluntarily wrote an honest review for them. All opinions are strictly my own.
This series has women who find their own strength (yes, some take longer than others), give forgiveness, find true friendships, and yes some not so true. They learn lessons almost daily both from their pasts and their new daily lives. My favorite of all was the last book A Lord Undone, Lady Smithton and Lord Havisham will always be in my heart. This series is one I will read over again and again,
Wonderful book! Five stories of betrayal, togetherness, strength, and eventual love. First set the stage of a woman wronged, but after being a widow with strength she will help four ladies that are slighted thru they did nothing wrong, but their families are at fault.
Four griping stories with more than a little romance and intrigue. I highly recommend this set and know you'll find the time you spend getting to know the rich, wonderful characters that share Lady Smithton and Lord Haversham's assistance in finding themselves and their true loves, truly delightful!
This box set features one of my favourite tropes, the spinster and Rose Pearson has given it a delightful spin. I particularly liked the character of Amelia in A Foolish Wager - her disability and how she was treated because of it pulled at my heartstrings. For anyone who enjoys charming happily ever after historical stories, this set is sure to please.
This box set had everything romance, mystery and happy endings. Delighted by the humor, intrigue and overall interest. As we know love wins out in the end and each tale was full of great characters. It's the journey along the way that keeps you turning pages and wanting more.
This is a wonderful collection! I’ve read each book individually and loved them all but I really love having them all together! It’s a great way to read one after the other and not having to search for the next book ! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
All four stories are different and the same up to a point. The first story is about a woman that saved four others. The last story even has a bit of mystery. All are light entertainment.
I have read all the books in this series and enjoyed them. Entertaining regency romances where young ladies find the loves of their lives by overcoming problems.
I have read each of these books as they released and my reviews are on Goodreads under each individual book. This is probably my favorite series by Rose Pearson. The Lady that is central to each book is Emily Smithton and she creates a story as she guides each lady to her HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed each book and the special couple that was created for each story. Each book is a stand alone with at least one Lady that does appear in each one. These are all sweet, clean Regency Romance with touches of mystery or intrigue, but the reader is guaranteed a HEA in each book. I would recommend this great buy on this captivating set. VICKI FROM WYOMING
A wonderful inspiring Regency romance boxed set. Very nice to read the complete story of these 5 couples, each imperfect in some way. Well written. HEA.
