…happy holiday reading!
Ghost the Halls - Jane Hinchey Gingerdead House - Nancy Warren Merry Little Mystic Murder - Patti Larsen The Hollyday Spirit - Beth Prenctice Christmissing in Westerham - Dionne Lister Cookies, Curses and Christmas Corpses - Kelly Ethan Magic & Mayhem at Mistletoe Manor - Maggie Mundy Coffee, Carols & Curses - Christine Bernard A Killer Christmas List - Polly Holmes Jingle Bells Cracker Spells - Susanne Becker
Gingerdead House by Nancy Warren is a holiday novella in the author's Great Witches Baking Show Series.
Poppy is in Bath competing in a charity Gingerbread Baking Competition. All the proceeds benefit charity. The author's description of Bath is so detailed I felt as if I was right there on the streets of the Christmas Market.
The competition is a bit fierce even though it is for charity. It is the biggest event of the year and bragging rights are at stake. For Poppy, she is just trying to bake her little heart off and raise money and give some publicity to the Baking Show. There are some secrets from last year's show.
There is a murder and Poppy tries to stay out of it, but Poppy and her intuition are pulled in.
It was really fun to see Benedict Champney show up in Bath "looking" for a gift for his mother. Yes, the future Earl of Frome came to visit Poppy and I loved their scenes and what I hope is a blooming relationship in future books. Add in Gateau, Poppy's cat familiar and a stray dog that helps someone, this novella is EVERYTHING I love about Nancy Warren's writing.
I really enjoy Gina, Poppy's best friend and the close relationship they have kept after all the years.
The mystery was so well written and even though it was in a novella I felt like it had the punch of a full length novel.
This can be read as a stand alone story, but you will LOVE all the books in this series starting with The Great Witches Baking Show.
Review for The Hollyday Spirit by Beth Prentice. The story of Daisy the poor soul who is trapped in the in between continues. This is a heart warming novella with all of the congeniality and warmth that Beth does so well. Reminiscent of the Westport Mysteries, the characters are a collection of lovable quirky souls and she leaves you wanting to read more of the Ghost Detectives. Loved it ❤
When her friend, Trixie, loses THE most important list in history-The Christmas List, graduate witch, Evelyn, is happy to help. Solving a murder, however, wasn’t on the cards. All the evidence points to Trixie, so there’s only one thing to do. Use her magic and make sure she saves not only her friend but finds the list so they can save Christmas too.
This candy-filled goodness of a story shows the strength of friendship, and an unexpected take on a few of the secrets surrounding Christmas. A Killer Christmas List is a novella featuring characters from Ms Holmes’ brand new series, The Melting Pot Café Series. It’s a delightful, feel-good tale with a little danger thrown in.
I read Jane Hinchey's book Ghost the Halls which is part of her great Ghost Detective Mystery series. If you haven't read any of this series you really should, but you will be able to enjoy this story either way. Audrey and her boyfriend are spending the Christmas holidays with her family at their lake house. She is looking forward to lazy days and gag gifts. What she gets is another ghost. Henry is a family friend who loves dressing up as Santa and putting up extravagant Christmas decorations. When his ghost joins her in the family room one morning she sadly heads out into the snow, still wearing her PJs, to locate his body. Her detective boyfriend Kade soon joins her and, after determining that the local sheriff is not accustomed to solving murders, the two set out to discover who would want to shoot Santa. They are joined by two ghosts, one cat, and Audrey's entire family. Someone is going to need a lot of hot toddies.
I was given an advanced copy of this story by the author. My review is voluntary. (I now own this book.)
Oh my gosh! Ghost the Halls is AMAZING!! The mystery is so very good, you can't guess who is the culprit. The storyline is soooo good, and the ending made me cry!! This is one of the best in the series yet. You absolutely must read this story. I would give 100 stars if I could!!
This is another fantastic story in this series it is fun, heartwarming and a page turner. I loved being back in Dandelion Ponds with Daisy, such a fun and lovable person who is caught between our world and the spirit world and Charlie what a guy, what a hero he is and him and Daisy make a fabulous investigating couple, if you haven’t met them yet, then you should and have lots of fun along the way.
It is Christmas time and Daisy and Charlie are investigating a murder, and the main suspect is Santa and with so many around at this time of the year it is not going to be easy. There are a few twists and turns in this one, which kept me guessing and on my toes as the story moved along.
Beth Prentice has penned another magical story with characters that are spirits and are the most lovable people, this is an easy and quick read that is sure to make any reader smile, and it certainly did me there are some very heartwarming bits in this one and lots of laughs. I do look forward to more in this series, The Ghost Detectives are sure to help solve a lot of mysteries.
Daisy and Charlie are getting closer all the time but with Daisy being a part spirit it is difficult but I am sure they are going to work this all out and have so much fun along the way, I loved this one from start to finish and can’t highly recommend this one.
Thank you MS Prentice for my copy to read and I do look forward to the other stories in this anthology.
A fun episode in the very unusual "life" or "coma life" of Daisy Montgomery from Dandelion Ponds. When her friend is suddenly dead and it happened right after she saw "Santa" stuff his heavy sack into the lake, Daisy suspects the worst. She convinces Charlie (a rare living individual that can see and hear her) to investigate. A host of delightful characters join them-both living and non-living. What happens is an unusual but fruitful murder investigation. I thought this was a delightful story, great characters, funny parts, creative thinking, and just simply a fun read!
This review is for Ghost the Halls, a novella in the Christmas Crackers anthology. It contains the characters from the Ghost Detective series by Jane Hinchey.
Audrey, Galloway, Thor, and her family go to the family vacation home for the holidays. Even on vacation, murder creeps in and they all get involved in the investigation.
The ending was so sweet. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens between Audrey and Galloway and with Ben.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I read "Ghost the Halls" by Jane Hinchey and I loved it! I am a huge fan of this series and I think this novella is a great addition not to be missed. Audrey is so cute-clumsy you can't help but love her - her sleuthing is fun to read about. There is a great cast of characters in this series as well - ghostly bestie Ben and the boyfriend detective really add to the storyline. Fans of the series will not want to miss this one in particular because there is a special moment that solidified the series going forward for me! Looking forward to reading more of the stories in the anthology.
Jane Hinchey's story: Ghost the Halls was OUTSTANDING! I have fallen in love with this series and this book had me laughing and on my toes, but good Goddess, the ending had me so over the top happy that tears were leaking from my eyes. This author and this series have me wrapped around their little fingers, so I will continue to come back for more along with shouting their praise for all to hear.
I've only read the book Ghost The Halls" in this box 📦set, it has a good storyline. The story is entertaining and the interaction and chemistry between the characters is wonderful. I can't wait for more from the author Jane Hinchey. I received her book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Ghost the Halls by Jane Hinchey, was a great read, keeps you guessing who did the deed. I can't wait for the next full length story, to see what is going to happen to Ben and how things are going with Detective Cowboy Hotpants.
I loved reading this collection of cozy mysteries. They all are so entertaining. I loved reading "Ghost the Halls" by Author Jane Hinchey. Love reading about the character of Audrey and her family and friends. And Thor the cat...
Kelly Ethan has created a magical town full of mystery and mayhem called Point Muse. There is always some sort of chaos and you can bet that Elspeth is at the center of it all! It's Christmas, and the all-you-can-eat Christmas Cookie Feast is right around the corner. Unfortunately, members of BAG (Baking Addicts Guild) are dropping like flies and Lila has to figure out who the killer is so she can get Heart's Delight Bakery back to herself. With her two sleuthing cousins, Xandie and Holly, she sets out to capture the cookie monster and return Point Muse to normal...whatever that is!
Didn’t like the blasphemy, nor did I like that the first story was just a bit too cutesy. Honestly couldn’t be bothered reading any more based on what I read of the first story. A great thumbs down from me.👎🏿
Absolutely love this story ! Audrey is with her family at the lake cabin for Christmas, and of course a ghost from a dearly departed neighbor shows up. Angie and her family work together to solve the mystery along with her best friend Ben, who is a ghost. Her boyfriend Captain Cowboy Hotpants also helps along the way.
Kelly Ethan brought another fun experience with the Harrow family in Cookies, Curses, and Christmas Corpses Elspeth always brings her indomitable spirit to the forefront Such an enjoyable read
This is a review for Ghost the Halls. I loved this book. The mystery, relationships and the paranormal all are winners for me. Audrey and Kade are great together, add Ben and Thor, you have a great story. Bottom line is that I Love this Series. I recommend this as a great read. Happy Reading!!!
My review is for Susanne Becker's Jingle Bells Cracker Spells. Such a cute cozy mystery to debut for this author. Aunt Meg is great, along with Holly and Tinz. Christy Fair is an interesting character who learned many things about her family history upon her mothers passing. Nothing like finding out you are descended from a line of witches. Add in a murder mystery needing solved and detective Liam and more interesting characters weaved into the story, it make for a series that i'm looking forward to continuing.
My second review is for Ghost the Halls by Jane Hinchey. Another cute story in this series. Audrey is off to solve another murder mystery while spending Christmas with her family. With the help of the ghosts she converses with, you'll be drown into another cute adventure to find the murderer and solve the mystery.
This contains 10 stories. 1- Henry is killed and our girl investigates but finds more than she bargained for. 2-gingerbread houses and murderous intent for cheaters. 3-Phoebe is in trouble, someone has cursed her and her family, homeless people are going missing and she's on the path to investigating the disappearances. 4-Daisy isn't dead or alive she's in a coma and when a neighbour is killed she decides to investigate with her team of misfits, some alive others dead. 5-Lily and Angelica are on the case of Santa being missing but they get more than they bargained for, especially a topless elf picture. Witches if Westerham book. 6-cookies are murder,a place on the cookie club is at stake, but who has murderous intent, it's not who you 1st suspect. 7-It's the 1920s and there is a murder in the village. New villager Penny inherits her great grandmother's house and she's a witch, she solves the murder and makes new friends in the process, not to mention helping souls pass over. 8-Ezra isn't sure about himself,he's a liner and a writer and when Tony gets murdered it falls on him to solve the crime, but all us not what it seems and is Earth really home? 9-Truxie is head elf if the year and when the naughty and nice list is stolen and the 2nd place elf us found dead in Saltwater cove, her witchy friends Evelyn and Harriet, help her solve the mystery of the list and the murder. 10-Holly Deer,Twinkle Tinsel, Ginger Breadman, Bonnie Bon, Candy Kane,Billy Bauble and Christy Fair alongside the local police and Auntie Meg solve the crime if the murdered man. This is a great read and each book takes about 1-2hrs to read which is doable with a cuppa and cookies.
Ghost the Halls is part of the Ghost Detective series, but can be read as a stand alone. Audrey and her 'hot' detective boyfriend Kade are spending Christmas with Audrey's family at their lake cabin, along with her ghost bestfriend Ben and her cat Thor. But as tends to happen to Audrey, she comes across a ghost and has herself a mystery to solve. There is no way Audrey is going to leave this up to the local cop. I loved reading about all the local residents and how Audrey and Kade, with help from Ben, solve the mystery. A great Christmas coxy mystery. I can't wait to read the rest of the stories in the collection!
I have read one story of "Ghost the Halls" by Jane Hinchey of this Christmas short stories collection. This is a nice way to celebrate the holidays this year. Audrey, Ben and her sassy feline, Thor is back for a Christmas celebration in Willow Lake along with her large family and her current flame, Detective Galloway. Audrey and her family had planned to spend a quiet Christmas in Willow Lake this year. During a walk out to the lake, she and Kade discovered a body at the lake, it is her neighbor, Henry Peterson! Ben is on hand as well to help out with the investigation with our favorite detectives. Can they solve this case before Santa can check his list twice for the naughty and nice for the Christmas celebrations?
This is a novella that can be a standalone story for an introduction to this outstanding paranormal series. I LOVE this fast paced story that is well-written with a cast of quirky characters. I love the family dynamics of the Fitzgerald family and the hot romantic relationship of Kade and Audrey. They are so likable and the character development of Audrey is coming along very nicely. This is a nice addition to the story that provided enough details to keep this reader happy throughout the whole time.
Ms. Hinchey did a great job on Ben's history as a police officer that Kade was privy to during his days on the force. Audrey is known to be a bit clumsy and this story shows the actions of her misadventures instead of her telling the reader about her clumsiness in great detail, and the actions are limited in this adventure which is a very nice touch for this reader. The author is a master novella storyteller and it is brilliantly displayed in this story!
I have enjoyed this paranormal series very much. I love this very entertaining novella that provides a very nice positive break from all the trauma drama of 2020. This is an excellent introductory story to the new reader to get to know the Firefly Bay citizens. I was given an ARC for an honest review.

My review is for Ghost the Halls by Jane Hinchey and Jingle Bells Cracker Spells by Susanne Becker.
Ghost The Halls by Jane Hinchey- 4 stars Yet another fun Cozy from Jane Hinchey in her Ghost detective series with Audrey, Ben and Kade. This time Audrey and Kade (and by default Ben) are spending Christmas with Audrey's family when a family friend, Henry, the local Santa turns up dead. As always accident prone Audrey creates the laughs as she and Kade work to solve the mystery of who killed him, while Henry tries to come to terms with being dead, and Ben tries to help him deal with the experience.
Jingle Bells Cracker Spells by Susanne Becker - 3 stars I understand that Jingle Bells is Susanne's first published book and as an author in this genre she certainly shows promise. Personally I found the characters names in the tale a little too corny which for me took away from my enjoyment, however leaving that to one side, the story itself was overall well put together with many potential "villains" and an interesting and relatively unexpected ending. There was one loose end that I felt wasn't satisfactorily dealt with (the old lady in the phone booth) and her reaction to Christy. Overall, a fun Cozy Christmas Mystery and an enjoyable read and I look forward to watching Becker's writing style grow.
I've read two stories from this anthology so far, but they've given me high hopes for the rest of the stories. I will try and remember to update my review once I read the rest. For now, I will review the two I have read.
~ Ghost The Halls by Jane Hinchey ~ This story was a great continuation of the Ghost Detective series. It has the same humor. The mystery keeps you guessing who was the culprit was. The reason for them doing the crime is definitely unique. This time Audrey's family gets to help figure things out, which is interesting. The pacing is consistent with the other books in the series. As an added plus, it doesn't read like a novella. It reads like a regular book, which is awesome :)
~ Jingle Bells Cracker Spells by Susanne Becker ~ This is the first book I've read by this author. It's supposed to be the second book in the series. I fully intend to read whatever other books are in the series. The characters are entertaining and fun, with very unique names. The pacing is nice. Christy, the main character, is likeable. The mystery part would have been more interesting if there were more suspects than there were, but it was still enjoyable. You can feel the festive nature of Celebration Cove. You'll definitely want to visit there again :)
If you’ve been following this series, you do not want to miss this book. It’s a great mystery with some delightful surprises. The Fitzgerald family, including Audrey with Captain Cowboy Hot Pants (Kade Galloway) in tow, is at the lake house to celebrate Christmas. When their neighbor, Henry, turns up dead, and the local sheriff isn’t up to dealing with the investigation on his own, Audrey and Galloway offer to help find the culprit. In fact, the entire Fitzgerald family gets involved.
The book is filled with humor, sadness, and romance. Trust me when I say that you won’t want to miss the romance. Then there’s ghostly Ben; he’s got a pretty impressive surprise of his own.
I love, love, loved this book, and I’m looking forward to the next in this series. While this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, you’ll probably get more enjoyment out of it if you’ve been following the series. It’s definitely a do-not-miss book.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. While I thank her for her generosity, it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
This is a great holiday cozy collection with plenty of new-to-me authors to discover! I'm already a fan of Jane Hinchey's "Ghost Detective" series, so Ghost The Halls is a five-star delight. Gingerdead House made a fine four-star intro to the "Great Witches Baking Show" series. Merry Little Mystic Murder is the real five-star revelation for me: a bit darker for a cozy mystery, imaginative world-building, and a genuinely likeable family (such a refreshing change)! I'm definitely reading more from author Patti Larsen! Hollyday Spirits introduced me to Daisy Montgomery; now I've got to find out what's going on in Dandelion Ponds and how the intriguing prologue relates to Daisy's current circumstances... The "Paranormal Investigation Bureau" series should be enjoyable; the characters I dislike are specific to this story, and I like the interaction between Lily and Angelica. Kelly Ethan's Point Muse world doesn't rise above two stars for me; a little snark is tolerable, but when the entire family is obnoxious and/or overly dramatic I'm done. The rest of the stories are a bit more successful, and overall this collection is a fun diversion.
This is for 2 books in the anthology. I loved them both and have no doubt that all of the books are equally as awesome! You can't go wrong with this amazing collection of books by fantastic authors! Enjoy!
Cookies, Curses and Christmas Corpses by Kelly Ethan:
Wow! The things people will do to be part of a baking club! Some people are just plain crazy!!! And all the people wanting to belong to BAG - Baking Addicts Guild - have a bit of crazy in them for sure! A rollicking whodunit that keeps the reader guessing! Love the quirky antics and misadventures that the Harrow clan always manage to get themselves involved in. Great read!
Ghost The Halls by Jane Hinchey:
Strange things are happening on the lake! A holiday visit with family goes terribly wrong. The entire family joins together to solve this mystery. A great storyline that flows smoothly with lots of twists and turns. A wonderful paranormal cozy mystery!
