Keegan Miles is back, and this time, he's ready to topple the USSR.
The Soviet Union may have split up at the end of the 20th century, but in Keegan's timeline, it's still very much alive. Keegan is tasked by Spero to assassinate Victor Clawson - the ruthless dictator that is responsible for keeping Soviet Russia and the United States locked into a Cold War well until the year 2020. Will he be able to do it?
But Keegan won't be traveling alone. Little does he know, there's another time-jumping agency that is determined to keep history the way that it is, and will try to stop Keegan from altering the past. There's a twist on every page as Keegan learns more about Spero and the world he never knew existed.
Soviet Shutdown takes all the elements you love from the first Keegan Miles story and turns the dial to create a non-stop thrill ride through time.
When we change one thing life can be different, sometimes the shift can be momentous. This is one great change in how life can rearrange itself. The life we change may be our own.
The story was a fun trip through time. The angle of correcting the timeline to how we know history in real life is an interesting idea. The lowered rating is due to the errors found throughout the book; the grammatical and punctuation errors, while not egregious, were enough to temporarily disrupt the immersion.
Great series if you like non-romance time travel stories. The hero is a like able character. While each book could be a stand alone, there is an underlying story line that appears will span across the series. Looking forward to future releases
Liked the premise of tweaking history. Now the question is how far can you go? Is there a point when time pushes back? Looking forward to the next one. Oh, on killing Hitler how about getting him accepted to the Vienna Art School.
Better and LONGER than the previous one, which suits me better (I prefer long stories (400-1000 pages, usually). Read it in two shots (had to sleep the previous night). If it wasn't for that, I would have read it the same day, as it is a real page turner!
Some terribly violent parts I skipped over did not seem necessary. Some of Keegan's thoughts and actions did not align with his portrayal as an intelligent person. I do already own the next book in the series, so I guess I'll keep going with it.
A former marine is assigned a mission to eliminate a problem to save millions of lives. In the story he discovers that all is not as he was told. I give it a GP-13 rating. Onto the next challenge.
I feel that many of these stories could combined together.
