Deadly Sins #4

Orgoglio - Fighting Pride

Rate this book

4 #BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN STARS

FIGHTING PRIDE: Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ Cole & Tatum

In the ‘Prologue’ we saw how much these two had sacrificed to make something of themselves as a unit until a devastating circumstance sees it all falling down around their ears. Plans where Tatum put going to art school on hold and a scholarship that was offered was swiftly turned down, and Cole became a college dropout and quit MMA fighting altogether. But one night changed everything in a heartbeat.

Now ‘FIVE YEARS LATER’ it seems like they are living the lives they had planned, separately. Tatum is a renowned artist and Cole is in the MMA circuit.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic The story of my life can be found in my tattoos.
Happiness, sadness, hopes, accomplishments, all of it right here like a priceless canvas.

Tatum is back in town after being away for five years, so much has changed but so much more is just the same, that deep rooted feeling she had for Cole slowly ebbs away in the background during their first encounter, many things left unsaid all come out in the open, all the old hurt that was buried so deep within resurfaces and leaves them questioning everything they assumed about their chosen paths in the past.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I'm a broken mirror-one that dropped and shattered into pieces. Over the years I've begun the painstakingly slow process of gluing myself back together, but the triumphs haven't come without blood dripping splinters and slices. - Tatum

Will they overcome their devastating break up and resolve things and move on as friends or will they give themselves a second chance at love?

This book will take you on such a heartfelt journey of forgiveness, reacquainted love and moving forward in the most profound way. This will pull on your heartstrings.

The reason being why I rated this 4 stars and not 5 is solely for the beginning I wanted/needed to feel their pain, I wanted my heart to break, and maybe shed a few tears but it jumped 5 years I think if it had’ve gone into the devastating loss more I would’ve rated this highly.

4,5 stelline

Fighting Pride is a second chance romance that will leave you feeling like an emotion wreck. I have to say this is the first time while reading a Jennifer Miller story, that I've cried too many times to count. I swear my heart was breaking for these two characters.

Cole and Tatum experienced something so traumatic in their young lives that neither could get past the hurt. Cole did the only thing he could think of that would ensure the love of his life would keep on living. He sacrificed his education, free will, and his happiness, but most importantly he gave up on her. But he never forgot her. How could he? She was it for him. But he was satisfied to live out his life broken if it meant she thrived, that she was happy.

But little did he know that even though she moved on, she never got over him. He broke her, but she didn't let it keep her from loving him. She hid it well, but her love remained intact for 5 long years. A chance encounter has them coming face-to-face and the pull they feel toward each other is unstoppable. And they quickly find their way back into each other's arms and hearts.

But Cole has a huge secret. One that could possibly destroy them a second time. To find out what happens you have to read this amazing story. It's a definite must read for 2017.

My heart! Jennifer Miller has ripped my freaking heart out!

Cole and Tatum have the kind of love everyone talks about, you know the kind where you would give up anything for the other person to be happy, even if that means giving up the one thing that you love most in the world. Cole, is the guy every girl dreams and wish they had. He wears his heart on his sleeve. And Tatum, just when she thinks she has life going where it should be, it comes up to smack her in the face to let her know she belongs with another. Did I mention my heart? All the feels! This book will have you in your feelings and crying. I really enjoyed the characters and their connection even the side characters. I was warned that once I read Fighting Pride that I would want to read the previous books as well although its a stand alone, so freaking true! I need to know more, I need to see what the others have been through, I just dont know if my heart can handle it lol Jennifer Miller is an amazing writer, I have read a couple of her books now and am in NEED to devour the Deadly Sins series!

This is my favorite of the series so far. The beginning is heartbreaking and I was pretty sure I knew where it was going ...and I was right but when all was said and done there was still a twist I didn't see coming.

We've all wanted to know why Cole put up with Jerry and we find out why with this book. When he comes face to face with his past his future changes without warning. I loved this book and was able to imagine the Hope paintings. I'm a sucker for second chances and this story ticked all my personal boxes - especially the epilogue!

Second chance story with depressing background and HEA.

It was a good story but something is still bugging me and I can't point my finger on it. They had an horibble experience but they get thru . So many lies, wrong decisions and living in denial was not wasted, they found eachother again with no blames and sorrow in their hearts.

IT’S THE END OF LIFE AS I KNEW IT, BEFORE I READ FIGHTING PRIDE!! MY HEART WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!! ❤

Where to start????? Looking down at my keyboard, I’m finding I’m at a loss for words. Not because I didn’t like this story, but because I loved it so much. I’m trying to think of just the right words to accurately describe my love for the book and give it the review it so rightly deserves. I knew from the very beginning that Fighting Pride was different from most books and I was right.

I’m not giving spoilers in my review or at least I’ll try not to. It would be unfair for me to do so. I want you to experience what I did. You’ll thank me later for it… You’ll understand what I’m talking about just as soon as you finish reading the prologue and then turn the very last page of the book.

Tatum and Cole are so in love with each other. They are about to be blessed with a wonderful gift. Unfortunately, that gift is ripped from away them and they suffer an unimaginable loss. One so profound that it overcomes them with such grief that neither are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Life simply stops for them. When it doesn’t appear that Tatum even has the will to begin life again, Cole makes a difficult decision that will tear them apart. A decision, that for Tatum, is the worst kind of betrayal at the very worst time of her life. She is completely shattered and heartbroken.

I must admit, was angry at what Cole did but nothing is as it seems. Turns out, Cole sacrifices everything that is important to him. Sacrifices that are necessary for Tatum to be able to refocus her attention and begin the painful journey that in the end, will hopefully allow her to heal. Cole never regrets his decision but suffered alone with his own disabling grief. So much so that he just runs on autopilot.

Fast forward 5 years. Tatum’s life has changed so much. Her work brings her and her new man, Blaine, back to her hometown and it’s there that she must face Cole and her own demons and mixed feelings towards him. The scene at the cemetery was gut wrenching, so powerful that I didn’t think I would ever stop my “ugly cries”. I love it when that happens.

Can both Cole and Tatum come together and put their shattered past behind them? If life were only that simple. What happens when certain secrets are discovered? Will they be able find the courage and healing they both need to move forward into the future without pain, together? Or will those secrets destroy them all over again?

These two broken souls rediscover what is really important. Love, faith in each other and ultimately, HOPE!!! Hope for acceptance, Hope for healing and Hope for a happy life filled with faith, friendship, family. There was not an emotion that was not covered in this book. So much pain, loss, grief. But “Hope” was always right there.

I adored all the cast of characters. Well, everyone with the exception of Jerry and that’s all I’m saying….. My favorite supporting character was Ryder, although, all of his friends are so wonderful. I’ve not read the other books in the series but I will now that that I know they exist.

There have been only a few books that left me “breathless” afterwards. Not only did this book leave me breathless, but I felt like author Jennifer Miller, wrote in High Definition and took me inside the story and kept me right there with the characters until the very end… That’s a rarity in my opinion and I thank her for that.

Do yourselves a huge favor and buy this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy but because I just loved it so much I purchased my own copy.

Fighting Pride is a beautiful addition to the Deadly Sins Series by Jennifer Miller. It can be read as a stand-alone but I hope you don't because I feel you would be missing out on the amazing back stories of the other secondary characters within this book. I definitely recommend you read them all.
This story is about Cole who is a HOT MMA fighter (as is indicated by the awesome book cover – sigh) and Tatum (his former girlfriend). This is set five years after their breakup where the couple meet again. This couple had suffered a great heartbreaking loss which is ultimately what led to the ending of their relationship. This author takes you on a beautiful experience that is deep and full of heart-wrenching emotions. Her powerful use of descriptive and detailed writing sets the stage that allows you to enter into the amazing world of this story as well as experience the deep feelings of the characters. You also become aware as you continue to read there is an underlying mystery of what led to one the character’s choices which draws you more into the story. I don't want to give any spoilers but there is a couple of storyline surprises which threw me. Cole and Tatum have a spiciness to their relationship that is thilling and steamy (wink wink) and this tale is that and more, as you experienced the intense journey of this couple. Another endearing element of this story is revisiting the world of the other characters from the other Deadly Sins books. You get to reminisce on their stories and also feel the ‘band of brother’ type friendship within the MMA club that Cole is a part of. I can only say great things about this book and know that you will get as drawn into this story as I did. Happy Reading.

Jennifer Miller became one of my favorite writers when I read Pretty Little Lies and she just keeps getting better.

Fighting Pride I a definite must read. Tatum and Cole had a tragedy in their young adult lIves that ended their relationship...jump ahead five years and they meet again. From the very beginning I was holding my breath waiting for them to connect. You can feel the love and spark between the two right from the first time they see each other after five long years. There is anger and hurt on both sides that you will be hoping this couple can overcome. You will be rooting for them from the first line of the book. There will be a shocking realization for Cole that you won't see coming and it just makes the story so much better. So grab some tissue because you will cry tears of sadness and happiness and you will laugh a little too. One things for sure, you won't be able to put this book down so find a quiet place and get reading.

Jennifer Miller did it again.

4.5

description

Cole and Tatum have a love so profound there are love songs about it. Unfortunately when life is going amazing it has to throw in some curve balls. It just so happens that those curve balls are the size of texas. Now it's been 5 years since he has seen her, 5 years since they lost everything, 5 years since he sold his soul and broke her heart. 5 long years of loneliness so bad it's almost crippling. He knows he is suppose to stay away from her but he has to see if the one sacrifice is worth it. Now that she is back is Cole willing to sacrifice everything all over again?

Let me start by saying that all the books in the Deadly Sins series are stand alones but and this is a huge BUT they are all amazing so go read them. Now that i got my bossyness out of the way let's get one with the author, Jennifer Miller. She is from my home state just a freeway away. Which i fangirl screamed when i found out. This series is also placed in my home. I loved reading about the places in the book and thinking “hey i know where that is”. Now the covers, WOW, they are amazing.
Now Cole that man is hauntingly beautiful. He has some crazy demons that he needs to work out. Yes, at times i could strangle that man and there were others that i could see why Tatum fell in love with him. What he did he did as a sacrifice. I may not agree with it but i understand why. Now Tatum she is a contradiction, she moves back to her hometown not sure if she wants to see Cole, but let's be honest deep down there is apart of her that has always loved him. I get her moving on with Blaine but some part of her has to know that Cole is it for her.
This book made me ugly cry, laugh, want to throw my kindle, and just fall in love with these sexy men. There are some intense scenes in this book that still have me reeling. Even after i have read it a couple of times. I look forward to many more by the amazing Jennifer Miller.

Love this series, this author takes us on another emotional roller-coaster ride with her characters that I just adore!!! I don't mind 2nd chance love stories but its certainly not my first choice but in saying that I've got to admit this one was well done.
Cole and Tatum go through such a terrible loss and make decision that probably are not the best but at the time seem like the right thing to do.
Cole is a sweetheart and sacrifices quite a lot to help Tatum through it and I do struggle a bit with Tatum's initial response to that due to her anger etc but thankfully she thinks things through and realises why Cole did what he did.
It was great to get some answers about Jerry and Cole's relationship and a little surprise as well. I did feel a bit disappointed in how Jerry was "dealt" with in the end, he didn't seem to have any consequences befitting his actions??!!?? Not sure if more will come of it in other books???
Love all the "brothers" and their partners and I soak up any snippets of how things are progressing with the ones we have read about and who may be next to get his book!!!
Overall an amazing book I found hard to put down, eagerly awaiting the next instalment!!

Jennifer Miller is still writing compelling stories and memorable characters with this 4th book in her Deadly Sins series. We’ve been waiting almost a full year since the last release in this series, and Ms. Miller did not disappoint. I plowed through this story in one night, and went on an emotional roller coaster with these characters….it was an amazing ride!

Fighting Pride is the story of Cole & Tatum. Fans of the series have been wondering about Cole from the previous books, and why he allows himself to be so poorly treated by his MMA trainer, Jerry.

The book begins with a glimpse into a tragic past between Cole and Tatum. The way that Ms. Miller told this part of the story had the details and feelings unfolding in a way that had you experiencing the heartache and loss WITH this couple.
“To no longer be a shadow of myself but to somehow stand in the light again.”

Jump ahead 5 years and the reader is left to figure out how Cole and Tatum came to be at this point in their lives, and why they aren’t together when they so clearly never wanted to be apart.

“Even after all this time, some part of me connects the essence of coming home to be defined as simply being in his presence.”

We are given a couple who have to find their way back to each other. It’s a story of loss, secrets, redemption, friendship, and sacrifice. Secrets were revealed with some unexpected twists that BLEW MY MIND! This story was a little different from the others in the series, but I think it is truly Ms. Miller’s writing at her absolute best! I even bought copies of this book for 5 friends on release day because it NEEDS to be read. Don’t hesitate to one-click. This book will truly break your heart, then put it back together again.

Fighting Pride is a standalone book in The Deadly Sins series by Jennifer Miller. It is a second chance romance, with a touch of sexy time.

I'm not one to pick up standalone books in series because it seems they always fall short, and I'm left feeling like I'm missing something... not this time though. Jennifer has made sure to make me feel all the feels. I laughed, I smiled, I cried (way more times than I cared to admit). I cheered our couple on, and marveled at the way the author was able to convey so many different emotions in the face of tragedy.

Fighting Pride follows Tatum and Cole. They are young, and in love, determined to make a future for themselves. Cole is an aspiring MMA fighter, while his girl Tatum focuses on her schooling and career as an artist.

Tragedy strikes and the couple is just going through the motions trying to make the best out of each and every day. The outcome is that Tatum and Cole split up, him giving her the space he feels she needs to cope, and also to pursue her dreams.

Chance has it that years later, Tatum ends up back in her hometown. She knows she runs the risk of bumping into Cole, but she's not going to actively look for him either ... until she catches his eyes in the crowd at her gallery showing.

How are things going to be between our lovely couple when fate brings them back together? Can Cole open up and give Tatum the emotion she needs to see from him? Will Tatum give up the hustle and bustle of big city life, or walk away from her hometown once again? I guess you'll have to read to find out ;)

I received a copy of this book for a voluntary honest review.

Magnificent, gut-wrenching, brilliant. These are the words I would use to describe 'Fighting Pride'. I have never read a book by Jennifer Miller before. Now I am going to one-click her entire back catalog. This book was part of a series yet could be read as a standalone. The main characters Cole and Tatum were so realistic, it was absolutely amazing. They are faced with a situation from the start that made my emotions soar from high to low in an instant. I can not believe how well Jennifer Miller can write a truly gripping story like this and not hit best seller on release day! You need to buy this book now. I am in love with 'Fighting Pride' and now I am going to go back to read the previous books to catch up on this amazing series.

I have come to love this series, and my heart just broke for Cole and Tatum. After a profound loss and watching the life slowly leaving Tatum,Cole made a deal with the devil and pushed Tatum to leave. You can see were the storyline is going but it doesn't overall spell it out for you. Cole sacrifaced so much for Tatum that my heart just ached for him to get his second chance. Tatum has overcome so much but until she settled things with Cole it would never truly be healed for her. After spending time with Cole she realizes that everything she thought about Cole wan't truly the way it was. I was so happy to see them work through their issues and the ending was just terrific.

Amazing

I have to say that this is my favourite from this series, it has gotten better and better with each book. A few chapters in I was a blubbering mess. The emotion portrayed is exceptional and it is beautifully written. I loved it so much and I hope there will be more from boys.

Starting with the prologue, I was hooked. This 4.5 star story had my undivided attention from the first word written to the last one.

Tatum and Cole have a past that neither have been able to move on from. 5 years later, they get a second chance. The only problem is they have secrets and unresolved issues. Nothing is what it seems. Can they get a second chance to work through all the secrets?

As soon has I read the prologue I knew right away that I would love this story. The author was able to keep me intrigued until the end with some major twists. This story can be sad at times but the characters had great connection that made the sadness bearable. This is the fourth book in the Deadly Sins Series. It could be read as a standalone but I prefer to read books in a series in order if possible. It makes the experience much more enjoyable in my opinion.

Told in a dual POV with a kick ass HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

Fighting Pride is book 4 of the series but can be read as a standalone without confusion.
I haven't read the others in the series so this is my first time meeting Cole and Tatum.

Cole and Tatum suffer a loss that leaves them broken and unable to cope. Decisions are made leading to their break up and a rough time for them both. The story continues 5 years after the break up. Will they survive?
This book is heart wrenching from the beginning. Bring on the tissues!

OMG, heartache!!! You are going to need your tissues before you even get to the first chapter of this book.

Fighting Pride is a little different from the other Deadly Sins Books but, wow, it's amazing.

Cole has been so broken for so long will he ever find himself & happiness again.

Love this series by Jennifer Miller, it just keeps getting better & better.

Fighting Pride was just beautiful. You could actually feel the love between Cole and Tatum. Their chemistry was off the charts. I have loved every one of the books in the Deadly Sins series, but Fighting Pride took hold of my heart and didn't let go! I cried tears of sorrow in the beginning, but tears of joy at the end. Jennifer Miller knows how to reach in and pull out all of your emotions, especially with this one. It was just a beautifully written story with amazing characters. Especially those men! Whew boy, did they make me hot. I can't wait to see what else she has coming with the other guys, but I know it'll be worth the wait!!
