Hellfire Riders MC #1-3

The Hellfire Riders: Saxon & Jenny

Rate this book
He’s the one man I can never have, but the only one I crave…

Saxon Gray has reason to hate me. He spent five years in prison after saving me from a brutal violation at the hands of a rival motorcycle club – and he paid for that rescue with his freedom. I’ve never been able to settle the debt I owe him…until now.

The menace of that old rivalry is flaring up again, and as president of the Hellfire Riders, Saxon is the one man who can keep me safe. But I want more than his protection. I want his heart.

Kati’s Note: The Hellfire Riders series was originally conceived as a series of novellas for readers who want heat, emotion, and a happy ending, but who don’t have the time to read a full-length book. Saxon and Jenny are featured in three novellas: Wanting It All, Taking It All, and Having It All, which are collected in this edition and includes this couple’s complete romance.

Kati Wilde is a tight-lipped, loose-hipped woman of indeterminate age and low breeding. Born into a very large family, she now has a very small family (no laws were broken in this transition), and she writes romantic fiction to assuage her darker urge to write Transformers erotica. She lives in Oregon, so most of you are safely far enough away, and has two old cats.

Kati writes the Hellfire Riders MC romance series and will be publishing her first New Adult novel, Going Nowhere Fast, with Berkley later this year.

About Our Series:

The Motorcycle Clubs series is for romance readers who want all the heat and emotion, but who don’t have all of the time. At this time, we are only publishing novellas — our intention is to provide readers with short (yet satisfying) MC romances. Sometimes we might continue one couple’s story over several novellas, but each individual novella will have a satisfying romantic resolution. Because they are short, we focus the stories on the eroticism and romance, and will be building the MC worlds as each series progresses.

Fuck it. 5 Holy Upgrade Stars.

Original Review:

4-ish Stars

I really enjoyed this little 3-book-novella-whatever-you-wanna-call-it bundle of fun...

description

...but there was something that kept me from loving it hard, aka enough to rate it 5 stars...

...and I'm not exactly sure at the moment what that something was...

description

But anyhangover...

I'm not really in a reviewing mood...and like I said above, I had too many margaritas last night can't really put my finger on why I didn't love this...so here are just a few points...

1) Saxon

HOTTTTTT.

AS.

FUCK.

description

2) Saxon's Possessiveness of Jenny

description

Me likey.

3) The Whole "First Lady Clause" Thing...

description

Oh, believe me, I will.

description

For those who haven't read this, and don't know what this supposed "First Lady Clause" is...lemme 'splain.

Meaning, *Spoilers, Bitches*

So, apparently, once upon a time, in a motorcycle gang club far, far away...or really, Jenny's Dad's old Club...the MC Prez at that time had a hard on for the same chick as Jenny's Dad.

In the end, however, the MC Prez "won" said not-Jenny's-mother-chick from Jenny's Dad and decided to create a clause where the "claimed" Old Lady of the MC Prez had to be "accepted" by the entire club.

Now, in reality, homie just wanted to fuck the chick in front of Jenny's Dad, because #Winner.

But he sold it as the chick having to prove that she was truly dedicated to the Prez and their club as a whole.

description

And she had to prove this SEXUALLY, of course.

description

Meaning that she had to fuck the MC Prez.

In front of the whole club.

description

Oh and THEY can all jump in and fuck her too, if they so choose.

Because, you know - #Loyalty&Acceptance

description

Now, they made up a reason why Saxon just HAD to adhere to this dumb as fuck rule...

Something about him having allowed a chick in the club by insisting they adhere to the "we allow all vets" rule so now he HAS to adhere to THIS rule too or risk appearing to not be a man of his word or some other such nonsense.

description

Yeah....except...

description

Regardless, this stupid clause sitch culminated in them having what I like to call a:

P. R. E. T. T. Y.

H. O. T.

S. C. E. N. E.

...which I am sure was the whole fucking point of such shenanigans.

And so for that reason....

description

Some clarification for my Safety Gangers:

Now my FAVORITE THING about this book/series?

4) A Badass MC Club that was actually BADASS

SOOOOOOOOO many MC books SAY they are tough and badass...but never actually DO anything badass.

We expect this:

description

But we get this:

description

And/or dumb shit happens, e.g., constant kidnappings - looking at you Kristen Ashley, in what is supposed to be a tough group in a fortified environment.

description

Well not so here, my friends.

We had some serious ass kicking and violence present.

And that end scene that got all "military" action?

description

For once, a badass MC Club with some former military badasses, doing SOMETHING BADASS.

So refreshing.
So necessary.
So LOVE.

4 Big Bad Fucking Wolf Stars ⭐

Hot Hot Hot!

~Second Read of this awesome series, because once isn't enough!~

These are my kind of MC Romances. Light on the club business, a predominant focus on the couple and plenty of steam to fog up your kindle...

“So fucking hot,” he growls against my lips. “You and me, Jenny. We’re gonna burn up together.”

In the first instalment of the Hellfire Riders Series we meet Saxon and Jenny. These two share a history that sent Saxon to prison. One moment in time where he saved a young Jenny from serious harm by a rival MC. Although they’ve crossed paths over the years following Saxon’s release, they’ve kept each other at a friendly distance.

When Jenny is left vulnerable and unprotected, two MC Clubs will unite with Saxon as their president. But his terms are, the entire package which includes Jenny. His woman to stand at his side to reign.

“Oh, fuck, Jenny. I meant to be sweet. But I’m not.”
Maybe not. But this is the sweetest pleasure I’ve ever known. Fiercely, I pull him close again. “This is exactly what I need.” Someone rough. Someone to sand away all of the painful edges.

Okay to be fair this will be the smuttiest MC romance you'll probably read. But hey, I’m just here for the guilty pleasure of it all. I make no apologies!!

Spoilers

I was actually really liking this story until the end of the second book which just caused everything to crash and burn with the whole First Lady Claus thing which is pretty disgusting. Here we have the heroine who is supposed to screw the hero in front of the Club naked, without his help at all, and let them touch her and do whatever they want pretty much. Even after what had happened in the past after the Club really hurt one of the first old ladies, and yet this was still a thing? The whole scene was super uncomfortable, not sexy in any way. She didn't want to do it and wasn't aroused at all, so the hero easily offered up one of the other members to help her become aroused to be able to F him, some of who will be the heros for the next books, but instead they got a female member to do it (who is the heroine in the next book) because she was more comfortable with her.

And how all the members who watched were all so connected to each other and woven into the plot, and how the hero didn't mind them watching, or even protest too much about it, ya not a hero in my eyes. He let her do it, knowing how super uncomfortable she was about it, even talking about it, when he should have protected her, especially after her past. The only reason he didn't want to do it was because of Jenny who could hardly even touch someone else. I hate how fine he was with it, and how fine he was with the members and the female member after. That whole scene was so forced and gross. I don't know if it was the author's intentions to make the book sexier with it, but I wasn't down with it at all. Especially with "possessive" heros being so fine with sharing their heroines, and even more so because the heroine really didn't want to do it AND is a victim of sexual assault, and the hero knowing that should have put a stop to it somehow right away, he shouldn't even have considered if she would be able to do it or not.

So anyways, after that whole scene, the hero just became weak in my eyes, and i just couldn't fully believe in their relationship anymore. And any scenes around the rest of the members was just awk after the whole part, especially knowing that some of them will get their own books. So ya, I ended up skimming the rest before DNFing. Really disappointing how that whole scene ruined Saxon and Jenny for me.

DNF at 66%. I love Kati Wilde’s books but I hate MC books. They call women “pussy” and deal with casual murder and violence. There’s meaningless, gratuitous sex and lots of sharing.

I had to stop when the partners are forced to have public sex. Yes, they are willing to do it because it will save the club from breaking up, but that’s just a non physical way to bypass true consent. And they are welcoming someone into their twosome to help Jenny get aroused because she’s too tense and self conscious about having sex in public.

There are so many gross things in this book and as much as I love the relationship, I hate the world.

This is not for me.

I really enjoyed book one of the series, but then there were elements of squik and I just couldn' finish book 2-3. The thought of forcing someone who's been sexually assaulted, into a situation they'd be uncomfortable with just grossed me out. Even if the events didn't unfold, even talking about it just made me feel off. So, didn't finish book 2-3.

When Saxon and Jenny first met, he was defending her from an attack. He spent years in prison because he saved her and he didn't regret one moment of it. While he served his time, Jenny was free to live her life, pining for the man who stepped in when no one else did.

Years later, the danger is back and only Saxon can give Jenny the protection she needs. And finally, the stars aligned because they both reveal their true affection for one another and it was really sweet. I loved how this big, tough biker was such a softy for the woman he loved. I really liked how the author imbued this hero with the qualities of a very honorable man and the heroine with the perfect features to complement her other half.

This story was a bit scary, but full of heart, heat and hope. I love when Amazon gives me a recommendation that is just right for me. I'm new to this author, but after reading this story, I'll definitely be back for more.

This was interesting. The only thing that was missing for me was its length was too short. I say that not because was was written needed development, but what wasn't needed to be written. There is a lot of 'past' stuff that shapes the future that is just told to us, but I didn't feel like it was descriptive enough. Our past determines the course and choices we may have to make in the future ... It is a critically serious chain of events. I wish I has a better vision of Jenny and Saxon from 'before' BUT seriously .... THIS box set is ON FIRE! READ AND YOU SHALL FIND OUT!

BEST LINE: "My cum. My woman." ~ Saxon

BEST SAXON SCENE: Favorite 'Saxon' scene: They're watching her walk away. But not looking at her ass, I realize. She's got four words embroidered down the back of her dress ~ Property of Saxon Gray ~ Jesus Christ. She's going to f*n break me.

BEST JENNY SCENE: Favorite Jenny scene: His voice is heavy with sleep. "You figured it out? "Yeah," I whisper. "It says you love me." [ ............. ] "You have no idea how much, Jenny."

The whole "Old Lady Clause" bothered me. Saxon should have protected her from that emotional pain. Despite my dislike, the scene was hot, and Zoomie/Lily was awesome for helping out. I was still upset that she had to go through that...especially with an audience.

Saxon and Jenny's love was seriously smokin though. I really loved their character growth, their communication, and how deeply they cared about each other.
"So fucking hot," he growls against my lips, " You and me Jenny. We're gonna burn up together."
This was a MC story with HEART.

I enjoyed this a lot! I had just finished Going Nowhere Fast and wanted to delve into the MC side of things. I loved the determination of Saxon and the independence of Jenny. I am going to read the entire series after this one because it was so good. I love Kati Wilde!

I had to do some hard thinking about this one, because overall I enjoyed the read quite a bit. BUT. There are is a point in this story that cut my rating down from where it would have been otherwise. More on that after the more positive stuff.

Kati Wilde is always easy to inhale with hot OTT alphas and steamy scenes. She's a go-to for me when I want something to read but to not have to think too hard about it. I especially love her shifter stories and her barbarian books are fun to read as well.

This one, though?

I like that the heroine is just a bit older—30—intelligent, driven, and running a business she built from the ground up. Her torch for Saxon is pretty cute, even if I felt the reach of her trauma over a decade later was perhaps overdoing it a bit. She went off to college and is pretty well off, and while raised by bikers, she isn't one. Again, she's really intelligent, plans ahead, and seems to do a lot of research. But. Jenny never went to therapy and worked through some of this and learned how to function without becoming a panicked and sobbing wreck around all men who might touch her?

But it leaves her perfectly single with no romance prospects for the only man she does feel safe around, Saxon.

It's hard not to like Saxon. He's also ambitious, focused, driven, protective, and he's spent the 9 years since he got out of prison trying to figure out how he can finally have Jenny, his motivation for everything. Rival Clubs, yadda yadda. Seems like this is something that could have been cleared up pretty quickly with a conversation or two with Jenny first and then with Red and saved a lot of angst. But...story. This is a romance and he's an alpha character so things have to be done in a dramatic way even if there are several options that would work better. I get it. So. I shrugged and went with it. Until the dreaded First Lady Clause.

Yes, a bunch of other reviews have ragged on this. I'm about to do it too.

So due to the last president's being the world's biggest douche-yacht, Saxon's Club has some stupid shit in their Constitution (or whatever they called it), including this disgusting clause that was created by the founder to try and hurt Jenny's father, Red.

So the Thing that knocked down my rating? What really set me off and made me want to chuck my Kindle into the wall? Saxon has been the President for 5 years, the entire time working on making himself respectable and worthy of Jenny. He could have changed this clause AT LITERALLY ANY TIME leading up to finally getting a shot with her, knowing full well it was there and it would be expected—especially after the kerfuffle of admitting a single woman (the founder's own daughter who he would never have patched) in and how his Club melted down over that and became super anal about literal readings and adherence to these rules. Before Saxon was with Jenny, no one would have raised a fuss or batted an eye. They all would have agreed it's a gross rule and chucked it out. But he didn't even bother. I just. WHY?

All of this just to force in a scene. Which the scene itself was hot, but would have been so much more so without all of the ICK surrounding it. Without that grossness, this is easily a 4 star read, but I cut a star out from it for dragging this out when it didn't have to be a thing. Especially in a Club that claims to put the safety and well-being of women above most else.

It was really difficult to have any positive feelings towards the MC after that. They truly were dicks about the whole thing and went on to be even worse as they debated enforcing the Clause or not. I really wanted Jenny, Anna, and Lily to decide they were done with men and ride off into the sunset together and maybe open their own bar and start a Club.

So I liked this collection, but that second novella just didn't need to happen and tanked it for me.

I recently discovered Kati Wilde and have been loving her stories. I was wondering if/when I would come across something she's written that I didn't like, and, welp, here it is. The first novella in the trilogy was just okay. The second was not even okay and creeped me out with that First Lady Clause crap. It's not cool that she was forced into something she didn't want to do in order to save a relationship (and even if it seemed like it was her choice, she didn't want it, she felt like she had to do it, and nobody gave her a legitimate out. That, to me, is not a group of guys I want to read more about). The third novella was a little better, but by then I was just over it and ready to be done with this group of people who go on and on about protecting women, but then inflict something like that on a woman (who is know to have survived a traumatic assault) on some grossly misguided principle. Ick.

A hot, sexy, fun erotic MC novella trilogy featuring club President Saxon Gray and rival club daughter Jenny Erickson. I really enjoyed these two characters and their relationship. The MC brothers and the politics. The writing was engaging. I enjoyed losing myself in this MC for the day.

Kati Wilde knows how to write some good romance and spice. This story is no different. I loved how devoted Saxon was to Jenny. Jenny was a bit annoying at times. But it was still a good story overall. I think the First Lady Clause was unnecessary. Not sure I would continue the series because I don't care for MC romances.

Lots of hotness and dirty talking for sure. Definite MC life involved. The only big problem I had is that the big issues were brushed away easily, there was little drama that way though. Again lots of sex times!

Good: Saxon and Jenny = good pairing

Bad: Not memorable

There are so many motorcycle books out there that you really need to do something pretty awesome to get my attention. I read this because of fellow goodreads reviewer said that Hellfire Riders MC, Volume 4-6 was good. Now I realize this isn't 4-6 but I don't start at the end of a series, especially if the series is only 2 books. (1-3 is the equivalent of 1 shortish book.)

I read it for the backstory which I do not regret since it sets up Lily and Jack perfectly. I am in the middle of Lily and Jack's story and they have my full attention!

Back to Saxon and Jenny, they are sweet. The pining for 9 years thing and the other hidden gems that I won't spoil, I was cheering when they got together. I have to say that some of the sex scenes felt forced, as if Kati Wilde was told that there had to be a certain amount of sex scenes for a motorcycle book, but whatever, I still read it.

3 stars because I probably won't remember this in a few months.

This series!!!!!.....I absolutely loved loved loved this series! This has been the best MC series I have read in a lllllooooooonnnnngggggg time!!!
MC books are one of my faves and my go to's. So when I read a great one it makes me super happy!
This was a first time author for me and I can't hardly wait to read more from her.
This series has it all. Romance, hot alphas, extremely hot sex, blood, gore fighting, revenge....all of it. It was a phenomenal story, I couldn't put it down!
Saxon is on the top of my hot alpha list! I want him. I want to have sex with him. I want him to protect me. I want to look at him everyday. Jenny is one lucky bitch! But...she deserves it, so I guess I will share Saxon with her for now! Lol

4 Stars Series

Absolutely loved this series and Saxon, holy hell, that man was seriously HOT. Why not 4.5 or even 5 if I "loved" it well, there was a minor and I say very minor issue for me with the "Old Lady" clause thing. For me, uhhhhh, that just didn't "fit" in with Saxon and Jenny and ow they felt about each other, I felt it was just an odd fit to their story. It was hot, I do admit BUT for me.....hmmmmm the jury is still out.

I thought the writing, the storyline, the characters were all great! I cannot wait for more of the stories, especially Anna's story!!!!!!!

The first book I really enjoyed and I was enjoying the second book until that damn First Lady Clause. I really hoped they would bypass it but when they didn't and the h requested another woman come in to help her get hot I was done. That scene was made infinitely worse because it was detailed and her best friends brother, his best friend (who had a thing for the h's best friend), and the hero from the next books (the OW who came in and went down on the heroine is the heroine for the next book...) were all in the room watching it all.

Ok

Really fast read for me. I didn't get mad about the public s3x scene that other reviewers did. I did think it was a stupid clause but honestly the H was gonna walk instead of having her do it. I didn't think she was forced, it was her idea. She chose when and then even picked the brothern or sister in this case that helped her.
