From bestselling author, Dr. Rebecca Sharp, comes an emotional, second-chance standalone romance in the Carmel Cove series.

It took only a matter of moments to turn Cambria Mariano into a survivor.
Moving back home, a ghost of her former self, Cammie hoped family and a familiar routine would help her find a new normal.
But months and miles couldn’t erase the trauma that had befallen her.

Something needed to change. Cammie knows she needs to fight for a stronger version of herself before she loses everything. Unfortunately, the only way to hone that fight has a name: Bennett Covington, her new martial arts instructor and the golden boy whose heart she broke.

Benny has always had his eye on the shy baker’s daughter. Though the spark between them burns hotter than ever, he sees Cammie’s heart is even more guarded. But Benny is a patient man; He’ll give her time to trust herself—and him.

As Cammie’s confidence returns, so do the demons from her past. To stop the crimes in town, she’ll have to speak up against those who will do anything to keep her silent. And when she does, she’ll risk not only her new life but her second chance at love.

Rebecca Sharp always loved a good love story. Let's face it, when you include a romance novel on your 8th grade summer reading list just to see if the teacher would notice (she didn't!), she was bound to give writing one of her own a go. There's really no corner of romance that she doesn't (or wouldn't) enjoy writing, except maybe aliens, much to her husband's dismay, so her large catalog features a little something for everyone. However, her love of shows like NCIS and Criminal Minds makes her favorite stories to write the ones with some kind of suspense and crime solving.

When she's not writing, she's at her office treating patients, and somewhere between those two things, you'll find her wandering the globe with her husband always searching for their next adventure.

This was an emotional read for me, normally I finish a book this size in a day or two this one took a little longer because I had to put it down several times to compose myself and then it has taken another two days for me to be able to write my review. What does that tell you, it tells you that this book will grip you right from the very beginning and not let you go even after you finish it.

I have read each book in this series and had glimpses of Cammie here and there, from those glimpses I knew exactly what had happened to her. I have learned that it's easy for people that suffered from any type of abuse to see others that have suffered a similar abuse, you may not know the details but your gut will tell you that you're right in your belief. The author warns in the book description that "This novel contains references to subjects that may be sensitive to some readers" so I would heed that warning if you have triggers.

Cammie and Benny were high school sweethearts and broke up when he left for college, but now that Cammie is back in town after completing her Massage Therapy Schooling he plans on making her his forever girl, just like he wanted the first time they were together.

Benny is now my "Book Boyfriend" and it will be hard to knock him out of that spot. Once you read this story you will know why. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Steamy Contemporary Romances or Second Chance at Love Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

You are going to need tissues for this story, of that I am certain! This series just seems to be getting better and better, and Cammie and Bennett’s story is one that must not be missed.

Those tissues I mentioned, I think you’ll need to have them to hand throughout this book. I shed tears of sadness and anger, and also tears of joy. I can’t imagine any reader not experiencing all the emotions that this story brought out in me, and I have to thank the author not only for penning this incredible story with such compassion, care and understanding, but also for giving us Cammie and Benny who I couldn’t help but hand over my heart to.

Cammie’s story maybe hard to read at times but it is hugely inspirational, and the messages that the author sends the reader via Cammie and her support will stay with me for a long, long time to come. Cammie’s strength, determination, incredible personality and the care she shows others are just some of the qualities that cemented my admiration for this amazing young lady. Her journey throughout this book was one that I was invested in. I wanted her dreams to be materialised, no matter if circumstances changed the path she thought she would follow, but more important to me - I wanted her to be completely happy. She has incredible family and friends and the love of a man who is willing to stand with her no matter what.

My word ladies, Benny is perfect in every way! What an incredible person he is. His patience and understanding are what makes him perfect for Cammie. You’ll swoon multiple times throughout this story I can assure you. Everyone should have their own Benny by their side.

It feels like I now have a greater understanding about healing after trauma. We’ve heard throughout the series the stories of some of the ladies who reside at Blooms, but this book for me, seems to have accentuated how people may heal. Cammie’s support highlighted this perfectly, and you’ll understand what I mean by this when you read this story.

Befallen is a powerful story - one that I highly recommend to you to read. Cammie and Benny’s love story had me gripped from the first chapter until the very end. It is truly inspirational.

An emotional read that had me crying from the start! I love Sharps ability to pull the emotions out of me. No one brings the realness of life like she does! Befallen hit me deep in my soul and it was what I needed!

Cam and Bennett’s story was a tough story I won’t lie but it was tough because it was real! What Cambria has faced in life is beyond anything I anticipated! Her struggles really hit me hard but I loved the journey Sharp took her on and the healing she found! Bennett was her rock and he never once tried to over shadow her. He just wanted to be by her side!

I love Carmel Cove and all the beautiful people in it! This town is amazing and I can’t wait to read the next installment even if it is the final book! The healing I have found in this town and the amazing characters is what everyone needs and deserves!

This book is so much MORE. Yes it is a beautiful love story but it is also about finding yourself after abuse. This author does what she does best. She weaves her words poetically with insight.

I am struggling to put into words how this read touched my heart and at the same time had me wanting to give out a battle cry to champion our heroine. Cammie’s journey is filled with such inspiration I want to cry. It not only touched me but I now have a different perspective on the steps to healing from assault.

Benny, Benny, Benny... you are AMAZING! Your unwavering interest and patience is more than impressive. Holy hotness, you know how to turn up the heat. Fanning myself. Best of all is your ability to listen. Cammie is lucky you hear and empower her even though you struggled letting go of your rage. Eek.

Love this story, love this series. Jumping up and down excited for the next one. Happy Reading Everyone in what I feel is a beautiful five star telling.

P.S. (whispers) Ms. Sharp please tell me Amy gets her own story some day. Survivor/Redemption storylines are my Kryptonite. Wink.

Beautiful, heartrending read. Adored Benny!

"Wanting him was something both impossible to deny and impossible to desire."

Cambria Mariano suffered a horrific trauma that she's still not really come to terms with. Living back at Carmel Cove with her mother is familiar and safe. However, it also means that she ends up back in Bennett Covington's orbit, and he wants her to make good on their promise at a second chance together. No matter how she might want that with the boy she's never forgotten, she's not the same girl who left the town a few years earlier.

"It might take years, but Cambria Mariano would learn I'd always been the boy who knew exactly what I wanted. And that included her. My forever girl."

Bennett Covington came back to Carmel Cove to establish a business and, with hope in his heart, to rekindle those little flames of a promise of a life together with the beautiful, sweet girl who let him go. Unfortunately, he's got his work cut out for him as she doesn't seem to want to try at a second chance with him. Nonetheless, he's not a quitter and when she seems to be more interested than she says she is, he's determined to fight for his forever girl.

"Trust me when I tell you that I want you. Every last piece. Sharp or broken. Every last inch. I want it all. I've waited for it all."

Gaaah! Bennett Covington is a hella dreamy guy! I loved his patience, his abiding heart, his intentions and his filthy mouth. He was so sweet yet so alpha. He made me swoon hard! Cammie was a survivor. She was so much stronger than she gave herself credit for. I loved her determination to overcome her fears and, towards the end, she was pretty damn badass!! I loved her courage and her absolute trust in Benny. These two were meant to be together. Two such beautiful souls thoroughly deserved each other. Fabulous read!

Another thought provoking & emotional read by the talented Rebecca. She never fails to make me feel all the feels while reading her books. Especially the Carmel Cove series. I highlight Larry’s words in each book I see them because it’s such a profound saying & I love it that much. Back to my thoughts on this book.

Who knew the youngest Covington Benny had the power to make me swoon so much?! My god. From his deliciously dirty sexy talk, to his intentions & forever girl statements he had me swooning from page one. I loved him & I loved how much he loved Cammie.

Rebecca always writes such strong, empowering female characters & Cammie was no different. She had been through something no one should go through but she worked through it, she worked to overcome her fears, & pushed herself to become the strong woman she knew she could be. That ending had me screaming hell yeah, because it was everything I wanted it to be & more.

Another wonderful, & enjoyable read in the Carmel Cove series & I’m already looking forward to coming back for the next book in both the Covington Security series & Carmel Cove series.

I'm not sure any review I do will do this book justice, it was absolutely incredible, this series gets better and better.

I couldn't put it down, first the dedication at the front was amazing and definitely hits you, I was nearly crying and I'd not even started the book yet.
It's so much more than just a love story, its about becoming strong again after abuse, that no matter what, you are worthy and strong, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

"Start where you are. Use what you can. Do what you can. "

The characters and chemistry was absolutely everything.
This book took me on a wild ride, my emotions were all over the place, the way that rebecca wrote about such a sensitive subject was awe inspiring.

This story will stay with me for a long time.

At the risk of sounding like a cracked record... I love visiting Carmel Cove and all the people who live there.
These stories are so much more than just romance.... they celebrate the strength and bond of female friendship and how amazing the support of the right people in your life can make you feel.

Bennett is absolutely perfect for the lovely Cammie and their story is built on love and trust. Benny has always been very clear of what his intentions are toward her and nothing will get in the way of him claiming and treasuring her heart.

With the protection of the Covington Security crew and the family at Blooms you can’t help but be totally captivated by this series and I am already looking forward to setting aside time for the next one!

Cammie and Benny were AMAZING.
Once again, Rebecca has delivered a stellar read, which will tug on your heartstrings.
The struggles in this book are not light, they run deep and have left scars. There ARE triggers, it’s not a light and easy read. It is raw, it is gritty, and it is rough.
But, the biggest takeaway message (for me) was that YOU ARE WORTH IT.

What can you expect from this absorbing read?
- Second chance / friends to lovers
- small town vibe
- angsty & emotional reading
- survivors, warriors, strong women looking out for each other.

This book comes with a trigger warning and rightly so. Cambria Mariano was at the end of her massage therapy training when she was assaulted by the son of the owner. Frozen in fear, she didn’t fight back and didn’t report the assault. When she returns to Carmel Cove, she chooses to work with her mother in their bakery. She’s closed off, hesitant, and skittish. When Bennett Covington tries to revive their relationship, he is surprised at her reaction because they did agree to give a relationship another go when they both found themselves back in Carmel Cove.

This book is more than the feelings of helplessness and worthlessness after an assault. It was about finding a way to overcome the fear, a journey from saying, “me too,” to “no more.” It was about trusting yourself again enough to let other people back in and learning how to be strong. I had a feeling from the previous books that Cammie went through something traumatic. But her support system was strong and her will to fight was stronger. This book by far is the most emotional and a testament to the talent of the author in writing about difficult topics that affect many people while giving us a happy ending that is befitting Cammie and Benny.

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

A tough start to this book (trigger warming) dealt with sensitively and leading to a most beautiful HEA with a heart warming romance in the middle. A stand-alone but part of a larger series (and cross over series also) this absolutely can be read on its own but you will want to read the other books if you haven’t already

The author skilfully deals with a traumatic subject, weaving into the slow burn romance elements of survival, strength and recovery as well as giving Cambria such a fantastic support network of friends and of course Bennett. He was utterly perfect for her and their relationship development is written wonderfully.

I enjoyed the underlying storyline but felt it was more touched upon briefly at points and wasn’t really a main plot in this book and so couldn’t really work out why the trafficking element was there.
The ending surprised me, didn’t see that coming at all and I loved the epilogue

Definitely one to read

Cammie & Benny were together through high school he knows she's his forever.
Cammie didn't want to hold Benny back so made a decision for them both.
Unfortunately the dreams for her career came to a stop.
I loved this story the transition in Cammie from start to finish was truly inspirational. I enjoyed how Benny treated her as his forever and his whole world.
Fantastic series.

Befallen is the fourth book in this author’s Carmel Cove series. It’s a small town, second chance, friends-to-lovers story. Each book is written as a stand-alone title. I’m a series junkie, so I usually recommend reading each book in order because you get the whole picture of who’s who and what’s what. But it isn’t necessary to read them all prior to reading Befallen. I will tell you that at this point, I’m fully invested in this entire series. I’ve been with these characters since book one, and I plan to stick with them to see how it all plays out. But for the first time since I started reading the Carmel Cove series, stepping into this book felt like coming home. With that in mind, here are my thoughts on this new release from Dr. Rebecca Sharp. I ended my review of book three, Besotted, with this line: Hold on to your hats (and your hearts), people. This ride is going to get even crazier! And boy has it!

This book was by far my favorite of the entire series. I knew Cammie’s story was a traumatic one. But it just kept tearing up my heart in the first part of the book. I’m pretty sure it was left in nothing but shreds for about ¾ of the story. However, I will say that I thought the author did an excellent job of keeping it honest, authentic, and powerful yet tactful at the same time. And when she finally hit that point, the one where a victim just decides no more, she came up swinging. The history Benny and Cammie shared went a long way in helping her heal. She knew he was a genuinely good guy and would be nothing but supportive. And she knew she could trust him unequivocally. While there were so many parts that made me cry and were challenging to read, I want to stress that I feel like Dr. Rebecca Sharp did a fantastic job of walking that fine line of keeping it real with the emotions but tactful and inspiring. And I’m looking forward to seeing how the underlying suspense plays out as the series continues and eventually wraps up.

There have been times since I first started reading this author’s works that I felt torn. Some books I’ve loved and some, not so much. But with the last two Carmel Cove books and now the spin-off, Covington Security books, she’s ultimately won me over. This is why I usually give new-to-me authors several chances unless I can’t finish the first book of theirs I read. Just like we grow from experience in life and our careers, authors do the same for the most part if they love their craft. And I’ve seen a lot of growth in her writing along the way. As I said, she’s won me over entirely at this point.

NICUnurse’s Rating: I give Befallen by Dr. Rebecca Sharp 5 out of 5 stars!

Cammie is inspiring. I love how this story gave me a realistic and honest look at what it means to be violated by someone else and the courage it takes to face the trauma and move forward. Cammie and Benny found their one in high school but they each had different dreams when they graduated so they broke up to allow each other the ability to pursue those dreams without any strings. What Cammie never expects is to have her dream shattered in the worst way possible. As she works to rebuild her confidence and spirit, she moves back home to help her mother at the bakery. Benny’s dream has him buying the local pub to bring new life to a classic restaurant. The one thing missing is having Cammie in his life, the girl, now woman, that captured his heart. Cammie believes Benny deserves someone that isn’t broken but having him be the teacher at the self-defense class she takes, creates a situation that neither can ignore. The biggest hurdle will be whether Cammie can find her inner warrior and open herself up to Benny’s love. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Dr. Rebecca Sharp gives you a story of healing and fate. Bennett and Cambria were high school sweethearts that are destined to be together, but life doesn't always turn out the way we expect. Cambria experiences something that no person should ever experience and she is quite a bit broken because of this. She has moved home to Carmel Cove to hid and heal. Although, she isn't moving forward. Benny moved back home to Carmel Cove and started his career. He has been waiting for the moment to make Cambria his again. This story follows her healing path, her growth, and her ability to take charge of the things that happened to her and help others who have experienced similar things. This story takes you and breaks you, but then puts you back together as you heal with Cambria. Benny was truly a force to be reckoned with once he makes the choice that he isn't waiting any longer. There is an amazing cast of characters in this series and I love getting the chance to catch back up with them all.

Oh Wow What an another incredible story from Rebecca Sharp.
This series just gets better and each story just seems to exceed the next..I am positive they are getting more emotional.
Cammie and Benny's romance held me captivated from start to finish,it is very powerful, moving and emotional.
I was so intoxicated trapped in Carmel cove as I watched perfectly this story play out in my mind. Cammie has been through so much which left her unguarded and I admired her strength and resolve.
Oh Benny he made me swoon,he is such a protector and I loved his patience and the way he helped Cammie find her confidence.
Rebecca Sharp always creates such complex, real, and strong characters that inspire you and connect with you.
Befallen is a wonderful book with a story that will have you gripped and stimulated throughout stirring up your emotions and leaving an impact you will not forget.

Wow. So profoundly moving

I loved this story! I actually read Aces book first. So to go back and get the baby covingtons book was totally worth it. Bennett is the epitome of swoon. He is honest, protective and still has the alpha bad ass protective and possible edge all his brother have. And he only has eyes for Cammie. Always has always will. Watching him help her to break her walls down and learn to trust not only herself but others was beautiful. Not going to lie this book does have triggers. And was painful to picture the horrific things cammie endured. But she was a survivor and learned to fight back. I had a feeling where the book was going. Just the slight smarmy way villain reacted to hearing her name during Bennetts meeting made me connect the dots. This book was everything. Inspirational, hot, steamy, and absolutely addictive. Can’t wait for dexs book.

Dr Rebecca Sharp did an amazing job with the fourth installment to the Carmel Cove series. Befallen is one of the best in the series. I was hooked from the start until the end.

Cambria Mariano, known as Cammie, has had the worst experience in her life and now she has to find a way to live with it. Moving back home, she thought that she will forget everything and it will just go away. She started to participate in some activities to help her get over the bad experience and then she saw her old school lover again (she broke his heart), but she is not the same girl anymore.

Bennett Covington, known as Benny, has always had his heart set on Cammie. Circumstances was the cause of her decisions to break his heart. He has noted that Cammie has changed a lot since the last time he saw her. He is determined to help her heal.

I loved the story of Cammie and Benny. It was an emotional journey.

We do not always have to fight our battles alone. We sometimes need the help of others.

Befallen can be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend that you read the series form the start. It will make the story even more clear.

It is a MUST READ.

Want an amazing read that will tear your heart out? Read this incredible book! Cammy and Bennett’s second chance Romance cannot be any sweeter or tougher to read. Cammies backstory is incredibly detailed, difficult, and gut wrenching. But in the end she prove them all wrong and in the meantime her love with Bennett grow stronger and stronger. They are just a magical couple and this is probably my favorite read from this author.

Sharp gave a powerful story of survival, healing, strength, with an unrelenting urge to speak out against the wrongs committed.

While Befallen centers around Benny and Cammie, Cammie's story is the powerhouse of this book, in my opinion. Her strength and determination shines through with each page. Her growth through something so devastating is an inspiration for all who have befallen to her circumstances.

A phenomenal read, with a truly uplifting message!

From the first page this book had me hooked! I immediately needed to know what came next! Cammie & Benny are just so absolutely perfect together. This is a story of second chances and overcoming pasts. It was emotional and it was a roller coaster watching these two find their way back to each other. I was so happy that Cammie was able to overcome her past and didn't let a chance at happiness with Benny pass her by. I loved going back to Carmel Cove again! Can't wait what's next!

PERFECTION.

I could NOT put this book down. It's no secret that I'm a Sharpie, but Befallen is, hands down, my favorite Sharp book to date.

Benny is the perfect ooey, gooey, squishy, sweet cinnamon roll hero of my dreams with a protective streak a mile wide, and Cammie is an intricately balanced mix of vulnerability and badassery.

Their story is emotional, heart-pounding, intriguing, swoony, and oh-so-satisfying.

What an emotional read that felt very real and tugs on one's heartstrings. From the moment you started turning the pages you felt like crying so much pain and heartache for Cammie when it should have been a happy time in her life not full of pain and sorrow.

Cammie's pain is real and so are her struggles but, she is stronger than she thinks, and she is making her way back from the depths of he-- little by little she was a little warrior that we loved seeing blossom throughout the story.

Bennett was a sweetheart, that man was patient and kind and loving as well as being committed. We loved how he was with Cammie he treated her time and time again like she was his one and only and forever girl from the moment they started over but, in reality, never stopped being his forever girl in his mind.

Overall we enjoyed Cambria and Bennett's story as it felt real, and it was about healing and forgiveness and about second chances also about heartache and pain and about growth and living your life in the present not the past. We are loving the Carmel Cove series as the series takes place in a small Town that is about closeness and love that is full of amazing characters that were past and present. We love the fact that these women have strong men to love them and vice versa. Each of the female characters like Cambria have suffered unthinkable things but, from that madness, they have created bonds of friendship & love with some amazing women that will last the test of time. The ending had a twist we did not see coming which always is a plus in our books and as they say karma works in mysterious ways. The author did an amazing job making you feel Cambria's pain along with all the different emotions we went through to get to her happy place once again, and we could not be effected by it all. Well done!
