Well written and a fun read. However, the whole book is a sales pitch on Fixed Indexed Annuities. For what it is, I actually enjoyed reading it. But the title is a little misleading - the title should have been “Why you should buy a Fixed Indexed Annuity”.
Even though I am no close to retiring, this is a great educational read to prepare you a better for retirement. This book breaks down like this. How people lose money and a suggested strategy on how to prevent it. This book is a informative nugget in the educational bank of preparing for retirement.
The only guaranteed gains that I found in this book were the initial commission (i.e. surrender charge) to the broker that sells the product to the client, and the slice given to the insurance company that created the offered FIA.
Really good information that reiterated information learned in a Retirement planning class. All about the truth and usefulness of a Fixed Index Annuity.
Lots of good information. BUT as Kelly says, "Do you own research!" Every ones situation is different and only a professional can help you through the maze.
At the time this book came out it was not being offered for sale. It was offered as a free gift for those that were willing to discuss working with Patrick Kelly and his financial planning group. I was training for my financial planning education at the time and was just interested to see what he had to say about annuities. The book was not as interesting or informative as the previous two books, but it was still well written and easy to understand.
Easy read. Clear ideas, clear writing. He kept saying he wasn't out to teach all the nuances but for someone willing to buy a book I think it warrants a little more backend information on the topic he presents.
