Is Shilo still in danger and will she be his when all is said and done.
Love this author she just keeps getting better and better in my opinion. Highly recommended read. 4.5*
I liked this book. The story was well written and flowed beautifully. The characters were well defined within the story and they had such great chemistry. I loved the ending. If you like the works of this wonderful author, then this book is a must-read.
I’ve been submerged in a reading challenge so I’m just now getting around to reviewing these books. This one was particularly amazing. I loved that he compared her to art work constantly. I also love how supportive he was of her dreams. Letting her decide what she wanted to do in life. The chemistry was amazing with these two. Absolutely perfect.
Slate O’Conner finished his patrol and noticed how the city was trying to clean itself up. The graffiti was being painted over with clean white paint, and a little organic produce store had opened up. Small steps, but definite signs of trying to make things better. He heads for the old mom and pop bakery which had fed him for 20 years but has been sold now and become Rockin’ Rolls. But looking in the glass case, the clever cookies and decorated pastries look pretty good! While Slate is waiting in line, a guy obviously high on something, loses control because he had to wait and throws a chair through the glass case. Before the guy can move, Slate has him cuffed and under control. Shilo was impressed at his speed and restraint of his obvious power in handling the guy. Another cop car arrived to take the man away, and Slate sat down to ask Shilo if she was hurt. Then he drove her home.
The following day, Slate picked her up and took her to the Art Institute, having learned of her love of painting in their discussion of the bakery cookies and pastries she decorated. He knew Shilo took care of others she loved and never put herself first. That was about to change. He wanted to cover her face with kisses and keep her safe for the rest of her life. She compared his beautiful green eyes to the green grass after it rains, wishing she had anything but “plain old brown” eyes. He lifted her chin and instead described her eyes as sienna-colored or rich coffee with warm, coppery flecks that heat up when she gets nervous, and a lovely honey glow when she gets excited. She melts and he kisses her. And she just might be falling a little in love . . .
This was such a well written story that gently brought the reader along on a sensual journey of falling in love. The way Slate could see her in terms that resonated with her just kept reinforcing how she felt about him. And he already was completely obsessed with her and ready to meet her every need in life. Would their dream relationship turn into a HEA? Or were there bumps in the road that would have to be dealt with? Grab your copy and see if their love was meant to be.
Cop's Obsession is the seventh book in the Protecting Her Heart series and is fast-paced, OTT, fun and enjoyable. it is the story about Officer Slate O'Conner, a forty year old officer who has been patrolling the southside of Chicago for almost twenty years, and twenty-five year old Shilo Bryne. After every shift Slate stops for coffee and something to eat at the same corner bakery, Ed's Donuts, owned by Ed and Harriet. Recently the sold it to retire to Ft. Lauderdale. Now it has been renamed to Rockin' Rolls and other things have changed also. One of the best changes happens to be the beautiful young woman behind the counter who takes Slate's breath away when he first sees her. Shilo has just started working at Rockin' Rolls. She lives on the Southside, and since her parents died has raised her younger sisters with the youngest finally going off to college at NYU. Shilo now needs to figure out what she wants to do but in the meantime she has bills and rent to pay. But she really has the soul of an artist. She has used her job at RR to have some artistic fun with the various confectionery creations she has been painting. When Slate stops in for his usual there is an incident and he ends up taking down a man. After it is all done she drives Shilo home. The next morning as she is leaving her place to go to work, when the sun is just coming up, she finds Slate waiting for her outside. He is taking her off for a day that is "just for her". He wants to protect and make her happy, giving her everything she could ever want. Quickly these two become attached and have a lot of fun and satisfaction. I liked this fast-paced and entertaining story. It was a good story-line with sweet and likeable characters.
This is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating because it is sweet, sassy and very romantic. Slate is ready to not like the new bakery that replaced the one he ate breakfast at for twenty years. So all the pink this and that is off putting. Then he sees the goodies in the display and bam he may have a new favorite spot. But that is not all that catches his attention the voice of a angel sweeps across the room only to interrupted by the sounds of breaking glass. Now being a cop for the last twenty years not much effects him personally but when his angel is in danger he takes that tweeker down with a flourish. Shilo the first day on the job was going so well she was able to use her artistic talents on the goodie in the bakery only for a chair to be flung into the display case. Geez this town. Holy smokes that vouce so authoritative and sexy at the same time. After raising her sister Shilo is about to take for herself. Slate and Shilos romance is sweet and sultry. Quick and Easy. Loving and protective. Read how gunshots speed up the process.

Another fine read from Regina! Slate and Shilo were so cute together! Also I love the name Shilo! I was waiting for them to know each other lol I’ve read more than a few of her books already and I’m use to the characters being linked or having prior knowledge at least on one side of the coin. Throughout the whole introduction scene inside of the shop I was waiting for the spark of recognition to hit And when I noticed it didn’t I felt like a dork! She got me good! I kinda wished we would have met the sister in this book though. Shilo was my type of girl 100% although she was quite the horn dog lol and Slate and all his “baby girls” had me laughing so hard. For some reason that phrase tickles me. This book was excellent. I’d love to see full length novels from Regina. Those wonderful woman can write her butt off. She can definitely drop this book into the win column with the rest of her amazing stories. 5⭐️ From me. Keep it up sister. I adore you.

Slate, 40, has been a Chicago cop for 20 years when he enters a new bakery after his shift. He ends up rescuing the girl behind the counter from a raging drug user. Shilo, 25, had recently come to work there to use her artistic skills decorating pastries. After taking charge of the situation Slate drove Shilo home and learned that she now lived alone in a not so great neighborhood after raising her younger sister and sending her off to college recently. Shilo now has the freedom to do what she wants and she feels comfortable and safe with Slate and he felt an immediate attraction to her. Could Slate and Shilo find love and happiness together?
I give this story 4.5 stars. It was a cute instalove story that was well written. The characters were described well and it was fun reading the 2 epilogues.

Slate O'Connor came to Rockin Roll to get his breakfast. Instead he ended up protecting the new employee of the new owners of the business from a crazy person threatening & damaging the bakery. That meeting of Shiloh was the best thing for this cop of two decades. When he met the 25 yr. old who put her dreams of being an artist into her donuts because she had to raise her sister when her parents died. Living in a bad neighborhood & dealing with her sister being in trouble as a teenager hasn't left much for Shiloh to think about her own desires, wants and dreams. Just take care of her family. That changed when the worst day of her life came with the protection from Officer O'Connor. Slade didn't think Shiloh wouldn't be interested in a man twice her age. But boy was he wrong. She wanted a man to protect, love, adore & let her go. She never thought a man would want her to have have her dreams fulfilled. Read the sexy short.
Slate stops into his favorite coffee spot after his night shift. It's got a new owner and he's not sure he's going to like the new place. Coffee smells great, the donuts, pastries and cookies look awesome. After waiting in line he finally meets the artist in charge of all the goodies. Shiloh is behind the counter ready to wait on the officer when all hell breaks loose. A druggy busts the whole place up. Slate grabs Shiloh and tells her boss goodbye and takes her home. They are so cute together. The compliment each other and the steam they have together is really hot. Great short story to read when you just want something fast. Plus I love Regina Wade's stories. Wow! Slate is one alpha cop that will do anything to keep his Shilo safe. Shilo has never put herself first but with the help of her obsessed cop, she will always come first. Slate and Shilo are instantly attracted to each other and there connection/chemistry to smoking hot. I have never read a book by Regina Wade before this one, but I will definitely be reading more. She has a way of writing a story that draws you into the world that she creates and her characters are simply delightful and you can't help but cheer for their happily ever after. Slate and Shilo's story is one of going on with your life not realizing that you are about to find your soul mate and sure that it's not going to happen anyway. This story has everything that you could want in a book; comedy, drama, action and hot romance. You really don't want to miss this one!

Shilo is a temporary pastry art. Well, artist. She is one of the new employees at the under new management donut shop. Slate is the officer who comes in every morning at the end of his shift. New customers come to purchase the edible art. Slate was enthralled by the artist. After an aggressive outburst in the shop, Slate made everyone safe, got help for the junkie and related Shilo all in one fell swoop. The adventure began with that and ended without a cliffhanger. Two characters made together. Nice story.

Slate and Shilo are such fun! Slate is a dedicated cop, loyal and protective. All that kicks into high gear the moment he spies Shilo working in a bakery he frequents. Shilo is hard working, feisty, creative, and bowled over when the hot cop she just noticed in line saves her from a hyped up customer. And that's all it takes for these two to make an instant connection. Heat and chemistry and laughter and finding your soulmate, this book has it all! A great quick read!

I liked this story a lot. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. I would totally keep Slate. He was super sweet and protective. Shilo was awesome. Her boss was a major jerk and I'm sure that he didn't appreciate all the art stuff that she did around the shop. Slate and Shilo were so sweet together. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book.

When Slade comes into the bakery to find it's new creations he's shocked. But when a hyped up dude gets hostile and freaks endangering the cute girl behind the counter, he jumps into action. They hit it off. The sparks fly. Great HEA for then.

Sweet, curvy young woman working in a doughnut shop meets hot, older cop - yes, she went there - when a creep goes bonkers during her shift. Shiloh is shaken and Slate comforts her. It is easy since he fell head over heels for her as soon as he saw her. I really enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Wade does a good job with the May/December romances without making them seem creepy. I am looking forward to the next book.

Fast paced storyline with Slate to the rescue of Shilo in more ways than one. Liked the connection between the characters the humor is light and not overly dramatic. Nice how they were both looking for something in their lives when they have a chance to discover they just may be that answer.
