He's reckless. She's hiding behind a lie. They seem destined to be, but could easily crash and burn.
Dylan
I'm notoriously reckless, and as a New York City fireman, that could prove fatal, but I didn't care. After one such risky rescue where I'd barely escaped a burning building, the last thing I'd expected to do was reunite a beautiful woman with her kitten. But that's what I'd done, and we'd had this instant connection that both intrigued and terrified me.
Around Autumn, I feel alive for the first time in over a decade. If I want to learn how to love again though, I'll have to let go of my past, and that is much easier said than done.
Autumn
I was still licking my wounds from my previous relationship when Dylan Hogan crashed into my life, doing things to my heart (and my body) that I'd never thought possible. He makes me feel like the person I've always wanted to be, though I fear he’ll run if he discovers the truth.
I have to let him go before my past destroys us both, but I don't want to extinguish our fire. What he doesn’t know can’t hurt him, right?
Dylan might be the savior that Autumn never knew she needed, but first she’ll have to save him from himself.
Find out if love conquers all in this sexy romance with a twist that'll take your breath away!
If you like alpha males with soft centers who love hard and make love harder, then the Burning for the Bravest series featuring New York City firefighters is for you!
This is book one in the steamy Burning for the Bravest series featuring New York City firemen.
Kaye Kennedy is the author of contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels featuring everyday heroes who love hard and make love harder. If you like steamy and soulful reads that will break your heart and put it back together again, then her stories are for you. In her books, you can always expect a happily ever after that kisses and tells.
She earned her degree in English Literature and taught college composition & literature classes before switching gears entirely and becoming an entrepreneur, starting multiple businesses. While originally from New York, Kaye now lives on the Florida coast with her rescue mutt, Zeus, whose begging to be put in a book has finally paid off (Read: Burning for Secrets). When she isn’t writing, she’s out paddling on the water, indulging in a beach read, feeding her wanderlust, or checking out a craft brewery.
I LOVED this. There were so many times I wished I could hug both Autumn and Dylan. There was spice , a hot fireman and the overall story was so good. This book had me feeling all the emotions.
I loved the characters in this book. Our hero, Dylan Hogan, has an alpha personality but with a sensitive side. Autumn, our heroine, is described best by Dylan "Sweetheart, you are a strong, brave, bad ass woman". I love books that include heroines that are strong and hold their own again their alpha counterparts. Being with Dylan throughout the book, you can see Autumn's confidence grow. And Dylan saving the kitten in the beginning - SWOON!
The chemistry between these 2 characters is on fire. The heat between them is undeniable.
This debut book by Kaye Kennedy was difficult to put down - I was pulled into the story from page 1. I quickly got wrapped-up in their story. The other side characters are entertaining and add to the story. All of the Hogan brothers have very different personalities and I can't wait to read each of their books.
I will end this with one of my favorite quotes from the book:
"I refused to live in fear of the end, but rather chose to live for every moment"
I often shy away from stories about heroes in uniform because they often go to extremes either the hero is way way flawed or a complete hero. Kaye Kennedy is one of the few authors I've read who gets it right. Dylan is flawed, he's a hero, but he's also a man in loved. She manages to weave all three of these aspects beautifully. Autumn is a woman that can take charge and be feisty, sexy, and awesome if only she can shed her past preconceived notions of herself. Both Dylan and Autumn bring out the best in each other which really makes the love story beautiful to read. Due to Kate's experience with firefighting the parts of the book written about fires come across real, frightening, intense without reading like action movie scenes. It really made the book so much better as did Dylan's relationship with his family and fellow firemen. There was a nice mix of really hot sexual interaction with sweet getting to know you moments between Autumn and Dylan. These are very real, very believable characters that you will find yourself very much caring about by the end of the book.
Triggers: Grief over lost loved one, serious illness, very intense fire scenes.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book has SO much potential. Really. I mean that
But then insta love happened 😩 I love you after knowing each other for a week? After one day? Also Dylan clearly needed some kind of therapy to deal with his “hero complex” that he had for years and it Magically went away? And why oh why Jenna had to be the one who’s lung Autumn got 🤦🏻♀️ Also there’re whole relationship in this book was about a month???
And I’m definitely not okay with Autumn not going to the doctor after the fire. Like that was just stupid.
Love this. A hot, sexy alpha firefighter and a feisty beautiful woman. They both have baggage that needs to be unpacked and put away. They have an attraction for each other. They are hot for each other. So much excitement, emotions, heartwarming situations and much more.Well written and highly recommended. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This was such an amazing story between Autumn and Dylan. Dylan was the firefighter that showed up to her apartment on that brutal night. She didn't need saving as she was able to make it out okay. He did save her cat Lilly and the boy she was babysitting.
The sparks immediately flew for them. As they progressed in their relationship they both had to release the past from their grips that they held onto so tightly.
This story was eloquently told. The emotions they each portrayed was wonderfully written.
I'm so excited to dive into book two. I'm so happy to have found this new author by an Instagram post of her other book in this series. I however wanted to start at book one. And one of my favorite topics hot firemen!
It was all too insta-lovey for me and I really did not care for Dylan as a love interest. Autumn was sweet enough but lacked some personality.
I did like the aspect of her being chronically ill and especially how traumatic that can be for a young woman but that's about it.
Also her ex keeps showing up and I was not here for that, like gimme your current romance! Forget him!
Dylan's character arc is pretty typical for a firefighter story and I do get his hero complex to some extent but then it just got too much for me — there's wanting to be a hero and just being straight up suicidal and while that was acknowledged by other characters in the book, I felt Dylan still didn't quite realize it in the end.
It may have been the audiobook I listened to but especially towards the end, Dylan and Autumn's relationship seemed to become so aggressive and ugh, hated that.

OH MY FLIPPING LIFE!!!! ok so scarp all the other books that i've said are my favourite - have you done it? Good because this book has captured my heart and im still wondering how im still fricking breathing! So when I started reading this book, I knew for sure that it was going to be good. Ok, but I didn't know it was literally gonna have me bawling out my eyes and making my heart physically stop. I did not go to bed without reading the whole book in one sitting because i just couldn't to that to myself and my heart. This story is phenomenal and like no other book i've read. It came to life and it grabbed my heart and it squeezed it so hard I cried and my mouth was on the floor (when your done reading this you can help me pick it up thanks ;)) Anyway Dylan and Autumn what the hell can i say other then go right now and read it!!!!!! Literally I don't know how you cannot! So there are quite a few moments that I loved and I have to include it in this review.
Spoilers begin: (If you've not read the book, stop here, read the book and come back;))
So when Dylan and Autumn had their first fight after dylan confessed he loved autumn and after the fight she had with her parents, when autumn went all the way to dylans firehouse and got his address and went to his house, that bit had me crying and i just couldn't help myself the make out session that they had was incredible you could feel the emotion and the raw feelings that were going on in your hand (while your holding the kindle/or book) and when they were both crying after the intimate session it was just so surreal but at the same it was real also i know it was breathtaking and very dangerous, but my heart was racing when dylan got stuck in the warehouse after the fire and the victim he tried saving died to the hospital! I gasped so loud my throat still hurts. also towards the ending, i loved. when autumn started having trouble breathing and kyle found her and called dylan i literally thought she was gonna die and not make it but she did and just when i thought that ok the books ending im at 90% so far ok it should be all good, a massive punchline is thrown in and there i go again - there's a waterfall in my house now after all the crying i flipping did - my heart was literally in my throat when we found out that it was jenna who was autumn lung donor, there was nothing more sweeter in the world that i've read other than that moment. my heart still hasn't recovered from the summersaults it keeps doing and my mind is just so dazzled i don't know how im wiring this review but i'm not sure if you can't tell but this is my sincere thoughts on this book and i really wish you try read this book and feel the connection that i experienced with it too. Thank you for reading Happy reading Enjoy xx
I’m really sorry because I don’t want to be a total asshole to the author and to everyone who liked this book, but this was really bad.
In the very first chapter we meet Autumn as she wakes up to an apartment full of smoke. She was babysitting an 8 year old son of a neighbor. She can’t breathe or see and she panics and leaves the burning apartment without the child in search of fresh air. She goes down several flights of stairs to get air before planning to go back for the child. While hanging out in the stairwell, she sees firemen on their way up and in passing shouts at them to go get the boy assuming they would hear her. She gets no confirmation that they heard her, but she decides it’s their job to randomly find people in a huge ass building on fire without any guidance. She decides to exit the building. She gets outside and into an ambulance to get some oxygen (all while the child remains an afterthought and she apparently thinks he will be able to breath through the smoke?) and takes her sweet time (several minutes by her count) to notify emergency personnel about the boy still being in the building?! Who the fuck left this woman in charge of their kid?! I am enraged reading this because if you’re in charge of my kid you either save my child or die trying. I am aghast at the sheer stupidity of this MC and cannot believe this is how this book started.
She then calls the mother to notify her of the situation. Upon learning her child is still in the burning building, the mom is understandably upset and screams in despair. Autumn is suddenly very sorry to have left the boy behind and apologizes by saying she tried to get him out. Bitch, you ran into a chair and decided it was too big of an obstacle to overcome to save the kid’s life and then you hightailed it to the door. You did not try. You didn’t even make it a couple of steps in the boy’s direction. Don’t lie.
I read a little more to see if this story somehow improved but it really did not. The writing was super cheesy and cringy. The guy had isntalove googoo eyes after seeing her for the first time and she’s already bewitched him body and soul.
Then, she apparently has literally nowhere else to go except for her ex boyfriends place.
I’m done. Made it 15% of the way in and that was more than enough.
This is my second Kaye Kennedy I have read and you can tell that this was her first book and the amount of growth she had from her newest series that I previously started. I liked Autumn and Dylan; just one date and two weeks knowing each other was a bit out of left field for me. Instant love is hit or miss for me and this one was kind of a miss. There was also a bit of unnecessary drama at the climax, I almost wished she had picked one or the other and not both. The little twist at the end had me bumping it up in ratings though because I didn’t even think about the possibility and I found it really sweet. I will be continuing the series only because I know how much I enjoy her newer books.
The intimate scenes were awkward and mechanical and the dialogue was frequently stilted. The banter fell flat and the main characters seemed too cardboard. There was also a scene that portrayed the heroine saying something like “I can’t believe he’s with me because he’s so hot” HARD EYE ROLL
AND… INSTA LOVE when they’ve barely had a real conversation!!! Can we just call it what it is? INSTALUST

Wow this book immediately draws in the reader. This a romance novel that hits home. I read this book in a few days and did not want to put it down. All the elements one loves to read in a book is there. Great characters and a good amount of steam.
This is the first book in the Burning for the Bravest Series featuring New York City firemen. If you like alpha males with soft centers who love hard and make love harder, then this series is for you!
Here's a preview of Dylan and Autumn's love story:
As I locked the door, I heard the jingle of Lily’s collar behind me and when I turned back around, she was rubbing herself against Dylan’s legs. “It is seriously impressive how affectionate she is with you.” He bent down and patted her head. "Well, I hope she doesn’t get jealous of her mama.” I crossed my arms, an involuntary smile across my face. "Oh, yeah?” I asked. "Why would she be jealous?” In the next instant, Dylan crossed the apartment and wrapped me in his arms, lifting me off the ground. “Because of this,” he uttered before pressing his lips to mine. His lips were slightly cold from having been outside, but his mouth was soothingly warm. He pulled my bottom lip between his, and I traced his top lip with my tongue, tasting him. When he put me back on the ground and pulled away, I tossed my head back and groaned. “Sorry,” he said, his hands finding my hips. "I just couldn’t wait to do that again. It’s all I’ve been able to think about since last night.” “Me, too,” I admitted. I held my eyes closed for a beat, breathing him in. When I opened them, I looked straight into his and saw a tenderness there that made me feel...loved? No way, it was too soon for that. Cared for, maybe? I didn’t know, but whatever it was, I liked it. His hands caressed my hips, and I saw his gaze dip down to my breasts for a fleeting moment. I liked being desired by him. I moved my hands up, softly rubbing my palms over his chest, which was warm and hard under my touch. “Feel free to do that anytime you want.” I bit my lip. That man’s ability to turn my desire up to a stratospheric level in just an instant was seriously impressive. “Don’t say that,” he teased. "Or we’ll never get anything else done today.” “An entire day in your arms doesn’t sound so bad to me."
Dylan is a fire-fighter that takes unnecessary risks due to the fact that when he was younger he lost 2 people he loved and suffered from survivors guilt. Autumn has survived through a tough childhood of illness and even a lung transplant. Dylan meets Autumn when her apartment burns, and he knows that she is special, but after that night he didn't know how to find her as he only had her first name. Fate stepped in and they just happened to be getting take away from the same place one night. A brilliantly written story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed.
Burning for More is Kaye Kennedy's first novel in her Burning for the Bravest series; a series that follows a group of firefighter brothers (by blood and by bond) and the women they fall in love with. I came across Kaye's books when she did a live reading of a chapter from each of the first two books in this series. At the time, Burning for More was free on Amazon and Burning for This, only 0.99 cents.
This is Dylan Hogan and Autumn Bianchi's story. Dylan is the second oldest brother in the Hogan family and, while on a call, he runs into Autumn and there's an instant spark between the two.
This was a great story! Aside from a few moments where I wanted to shake them both for being so stubborn, I thought Dylan and Autumn's love story was very fun and refreshing. None of the conflict really lasted long (which I appreciated) because it allowed to story to move and not drag. I loved how they both supported each other and yet gave each other tough love when they needed it.
I absolutely loved the Hogan family and can't wait to read more about them in future books! I did spend most of the book disliking Kyle but also being intrigued by him and wanting to know his story. I also loved Dylan's mates at the firehouse (especially Frisco and Jace.) I think out of all the secondary characters, I liked Jace the most! I liked the camaraderie he had with Dylan and I loved how he made sure Autumn was okay at the hospital when everyone else was arguing over Dylan.
This is book one in the Burning for the Bravest series. Oh man, this book has all the feels. It was so good! I immediately went out and purchased the next book in the series and book three has been pre-ordered. This book is well written with a great story that had me turning the pages. I didn’t want to put it down. I love a book that pull at my heartstrings and keeps me engaged.
Dylan and Autumn meet when the apartment complex that Autumn lives in has a fire. Autumn wakes up and the place is engulfed in smoke. She can’t get to Eli, her neighbors’ son, whom she’s watching while his mom is at work. Dylan is the firefighter that ends up saving Eli and Autumns kitten. They meet again later when they happen to both be pickup up takeout from the same place. They start seeing each other and finally go out on a date but they both have secrets. Secrets they both need to share for the relationship to be successful.

Hearts set on fire: This book was extremely well written and it captured and held my attention throughout. I appreciated the accuracy and authenticity of the fire fighting scenes and the author's personal experience was clearly evident. Autumn is sweet yet feisty and I appreciated all that she had overcome. Firefighter Dylan is a protective alpha male however he also has a fair amount of guilt and is initially cautious yet soon his attraction to Autumn can't be denied. You could really feel their chemistry and I liked how they worked through their issues. I also thought there was just the right amount of angst and plenty of romance to balance it all out. There was a depth to the story such as with Autumn's medical issues and the drama surrounding some of the fires, however it never became too heavy. Overall a great book and I can't wait to read more about these firefighter brothers! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I believe this may be a debut story and if it is then Kaye Kennedy definitely hit it out of the park and going to be a author well worth watching in the future. Her characters weren't one dimensional at all which can happen with so many "Hero" type stories but in Dylan we had a man that by profession was a hero but he was also flawed and very human in the way he reacted to things and Autumn was just a kick arse woman that you would seriously want to be your friend.
Autumn is hiding a secret she has no self confidence in her self after been in a destructive relationship but she fakes it till she makes it and many don't see the hurt person underneath. Dylan is fighting his own ghosts they make him reckless and that could be fatal when he is a firefighter The moment these two meet the attraction is hot and instant but will they destroy one another or will they actually give one another strength to be the person that they deserve to be You will have to read to see
Autumn meets Dylan, a firefighter, who saves her cat and the kid she's babysitting when she panics when she smells the smoke and runs out of the building. Autumn has a severe medical condition that affects her breathing, so that was the first thing she thought of.
Dylan lost his Father when he was just 16 years old and his high school sweetheart when he was only 18, both events changed him and how he approaches fires. He takes unnecessary risks to save fire victims, endangering himself in the process. That is until he meets Autumn; or so he thought.
The bond these 2 share is unlike anything for a new couple. But when Dylan finds out the truth about Autum's medical condition, will he stand by her or walk away like others have? And will he stop being the hero who disregards orders and goes after victims when it's a danger to himself?
I loved this book. The story has all the feels (you will need tissue for some parts). The characters were well developed, realistic and relatable.
Autumn Bianchi has had a traumatic past - surviving cancer, having a lung transplant and being dumped by her long time boyfriend. There is a fire in her apartment building and she meets firefighter Dylan Hogan. Dylan takes unnecessary risks to combat his survivor guilt. They have an immediate attraction when they meet. Both have a lot of baggage that derails their relationship several times before they get their HEA. Highly recommend. Look forward to the rest of the books in this series.

“without thinking, i took a deep breath and whipped off my helmet then heaved the mask over my head. i shoved it onto the boy’s face and willed him to breathe. i jerked my hood up to cover my nose and mouth and threw my helmet back on.” close enough…welcome back matt casey !
BIG fan of firefighter romances where the characters actually are firefighters (and a lil reckless hehe) !!!!!
but not a fan of the rescue crush. and i actually can’t stand the whole ‘the person i loved had their organs donated and you have their organ’ plot-twist with romance like it’s not soulmate-y it’s just weird to me. also her ex was wayyy to involved her in life like ever heard of boundaries bro?
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. A fire brings two people together that are perfect for each other. Autumn and Dylan have a great love story to tell. Dylan is a risk taking firefighter who tries to overcome his past. Autumn is a survivor who has been burned and does not trust easily. The attraction between them is there if they can overcome their own demons. This was such a well written story. It was hard to put down when I needed to. The characters drew you in and made you feel their emotions. I look forward to the next in the series

I almost DNF around 60%. I got so fed up with Autumn's attitude. I mean, seriously, she says she's sick of people saying she's fragile but she doesn't take care of herself for a second. Yes you have issues, but aren't you suppose to be smart about it??
It got better when her secret was out, but not that much. Dylan had is own issues that pissed me off a little.
The epilogue was cute. And I liked Jace, but not enough to read is book. Which I believe is the 4th one, I read the premise and I don't feel it.
And seriously, I saw from a mile long the connection with Autumn and Dylan's past. It's always the same thing... be original
