Caitlin had stolen a piece of my heart all those months ago, but I was pretty sure that right here, in this moment, she stole the rest.

4.5 stars!

I've been waiting for sweet Matteo's story ever since we first met him in PRINCE OF HEARTS and learned that he was the more sensitive of the three Marchetti cousins. After rereading Matteo and Caitlin's prequel story ANGEL OF TEARS, I dove right into this novel, ready to be consumed by Caitlin and Matteo's story of redemption and forgiveness.

Even though we've met Caitlin before, we don't really know much about her at the beginning of the novel as she keeps her past shrouded in darkness and remorse. And while I understand why Lianne wrote her story like this, I have to admit that knowing little to nothing about Caitlin kept me from fully connecting with her as a main character. I could empathize with her current situation of wanting to get away from DiMarco, but like Matteo, I found myself extremely frustrated when she would continually pull him close only to immediately push him away because of her past...which we didn't fully understand until the last few chapters.

Nevertheless, I loved seeing how happy and in love Nicco and Ari and Enzo and Nora are, especially Enzo! I also felt like this was more of Nicco's story as we get to see so much growth from him as he finally takes his place as Head of Dominion. I've loved reading Nicco, Enzo, and Matteo's stories and watching them find happiness, and I really hope that this isn't the last we see of our Verona family as I've come to love these characters so much! ♡

My Matteo, willing to burn the world down to save those he loves...

Savior of Regrest is book #4 of the Verona Legacy series by L.A. Cotton. It is a stand alone story told from both points of view and ends with a happy ending for the couple. Genres: New Adult Tropes: Mafia Romance. Maturity content: sex | violence | rape | murder

I'll start by saying that mafia romance is not my fav trope mainly because I don’t believe there’s such thing as a mafia criminal with morals or a code of ethics. But that’s my belief and regardless, I have read several mafia romance book which I've loved, so my belief has no impact on my rating for this book.

I decided to read Savoir of Regrets because I really liked L.A.’s writing style, I enjoyed Nicco and Arianne’s star crossed lovers story as well as Enzo and Nora’s romance, and I was emotionally invested in Matt’s happy ending.

It was insta-lust and love for Matteo and Caitlin. He knew it and acknowledged it from the very start and when fate put her in his path once again he fought tooth and nail, his family and even Cait herself to have a chance at happiness together.

I totally loved him for that. I loved that he saw her inner beauty and never even thought to hold her dark, horror ridden past against her, though she did it herself. Her self worth definitely needed mending and Matt and his friends and family were just the people to help her.

If you’re a NA mafia romance fan, this a great story for you. Even though it can be read as a standalone, it’s better enjoyed if read in the series order due to the appearance of all the secondary characters from past books that help Matt and Cait in their journey.

Been waiting on these two’s book for what feels like forever! The wait was worth it! ⁣

Matteo was so much more than I could have asked for. So incredibly sweet. I just loved him even more. And felt so much for him. His pain was so real and relatable.⁣

And Caitlin! Goodness this girl’s journey was so painful and sad. Which made the end of this story so sweet. She deserved an happy ending and she got it. ⁣

Matteo showed her what it was like to always have someone in your corner, willing to go the extra mile for her and protect her at all costs! These two were so perfect for each other!⁣

And just the continuous love, devotion all these characters have for each other is so beautiful to read. I am going to miss them so so much. I really hope Lianne will come back to this series in the future and give us more. I really want Alessia and Arabella to get their own books and I really want Arabella’s to be a bodyguard to lover romance 🙈 All the fingers crossed.⁣

Audiobook book read. Saviour of Regrets was freaking awesome I loved how it came together and Matteo was a swoon worthy male lead.

Caitlin is living with the devil looming over her. When her boyfriend takes things too far a friend gives her a lifeline. She finds herself in the company of the one man that gave her hope.

Can Caitlin escape her past and can Matteo be the Saviour of her regrets?

What a heart wrenching and emotional finale to this fantastic series! Matteo's much anticipated love story is emotional, heart wrenching, angsty, and beautiful- nothing that I expected yet everything I was hoping for and more. From the first page to the last, Savior of Regrets consumed me heart and soul- I want to live in this Verona world forever!

After the prequel I wasn't sure how this was going to pan out, as it really was different to how the rest of the series was. I shouldn't of worried though, as in this book we were back to the mafia goodness that is a constant throughout the rest of the series.
Once I started I couldn't look away and there were twists you won't see coming until it's too late.
Will they manage to get themselves out of more than one sticky situation?
Read on to find out.
Sad to say goodbye to this series and hope it's not the last that we see of the characters.

I entered this book not reading any previous in the Verona Legacy. I for the most part enjoyed it.
Matteo, Gosh I just loved him. He is loyal, protective and sexy as hell. Caitlin, to start with I really liked her. Somewhere along the way I got frustrated with her character. That doesn't mean I didn't like her at all its just Matteo was just sooooo sweet!
I loved the storyline and it did have me gripped. Savior Of Regrets is definitely well written and if you love Mafia Romance I would Recommend reading this book.

Savior of Regrets is the 4th book in the Verona Legacy series by L A. Cotton. There is also an Angel of Tears short story that is about one night Caitlin and Matteo spent together, taking place months before Savior of Regrets begins. It is a standalone, but I believe it would be better enjoyed after reading the series, in order. This was my first book in this series that I read and while I had no problem following along, the couples from the previous books play major roles and it made me feel a little disconnected.

When Caitlin wakes up in the hospital bruised and broken, Matteo, the boy she’s never forgotten is waiting for her to wake up. It would almost feel like fate, except for the fact that she knows her past could get him killed if she ever let him get close enough. Matteo has been unable to get his one night with Caitlin out of his mind and when he and his cousin are the ones that find her all broken he’s not going to throw away a chance for happiness - even if she seems determined to keep space between them.

This was a cute story that was well written and had a little bit of suspense thrown in. Matteo is a more sensitive soul and he’s definitely all in with Caitlin, whether she wants him to be or not. He sees his best friends and cousins in their new relationships and wants to find a forever person for himself. He knows that’s Caitlin, he just needs to convince HER. Caitlin is a girl that’s never had it easy. All she knows is heartbreak and loneliness and doesn’t dare to even hope a future with Matteo is possible without her past ruining it, just like it has every time. I kind of wish we had been told what her secret was a little earlier in the story, just because her pushing Matteo away continuously (after seeking comfort with him), make it a little more difficult to empathize with her without knowing the reason. With that said, I enjoyed it over all and will continue to enjoy L A Cotton’s fabulously angsty reads!

Possible triggers as heroine is abused by other man at the start.
Hero and heroine had a ONS some time ago but heroine wouldn't leave contact details.
There is more to her history but that is kept a secret.
I found it a bit frustrating.
Heroine pushes away and refuses to talk about anything personal.
HEA.
Secondary characters from previous books in series.

A hard won love story where monsters are slain, secrets are uncovered, and a story that reminds us how important family can be.

Matteo is a family man, raised to respect women, protect his sister, and wants a true love like his parents have sustained and like his cousins have recently found. Matteo wears his heart upon his sleeve and his bleeding heart gives him high marks as a great book boyfriend. I absolutely adore his sweetness mixed with his protective nature, loyal and true, he is the perfect fit for a woman like Caitlyn. I wanted to wrap Matteo in huge hugs throughout the entire book as this story is emotional. From start to finish Savior of Regrets is a brilliant love story filled with secrets, lots of character cameos (which I loved), and so many emotional moments.

There were lots of times I wanted to kick Caitlyn in the pants. She is a character that I felt for, her situation is horrible and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, but she is stubborn to a fault. She holds that stubbornness instead of opening up and it isn't until her monster comes to play that things makes sense...so needless to say, Caitlyn has secrets. Dark secrets that she'd rather leave in the past, but unfortunately the past comes calling.

Matteo met Caitlyn about eight months ago and they shared an unforgettable night together. When fate landed Cait in Matt's path once again he wasn't about to let her slip through his fingers again and promised that he would do anything to gain her trust and make her stay, but more than anything he wanted her to stay of her own choosing and choose him because she felt the same about him.

To Matteo there is nothing more important than family, but the group dynamic is beginning to change between the cousins. Nicco is taking on more as a leader with his father's health failing. Enzo's darkness is still there, but his edges have smoothed out thanks to Nora and where does that leave Matt with his best friends, his cousins, his blood brothers moving forward and he always feels like a fifth wheel among them? Gah...I wanted to reach through the book and hug him so hard.

While you could read this book as a standalone, it would be better enjoyed reading the series in order, if nothing else I would at least recommend reading the prequel, Angel of Tears, (which is currently free) to understand the strong connection between Matt and Cait and the one night they share together.

Another heartfelt read coming out of the Verona Legacy series.

What I like about this series is how each cousin is so different from each other with unique personalities. I also enjoy that their love stories and each couple's dynamic is as unique as they are. Each book has its own tone and pace which keeps the series fresh. And I especially love the interconnection between all the books and getting to see everyone again in every book.

Matteo is just the sweetest, nicest guy in the family. More so than any of his cousins he has the gentlest heart. But until his book, I was never able to get the greatest pulse on him from the earlier books. His personality is not larger than life like Enzo nor is he as charismatic at Nicco. But he is just all heart in his earnest love and pursuit of Caitlin, and his book is a reflection of that. I love that he never wavered, followed his heart and got his girl.

Overall this book has some dark elements but it's not really a dark book. There was some dramatic tension and suspense, not a ton of it though, and Caitlin's backstory wasn't nearly as dark or depraved as she made it out to be. It was a bit anticlimactic actually. But while there's danger in all the books, these are love stories that are very focused on the couple's relationship development and less about the Mafia world building in my opinion.

Matteo and Caitlin's story wraps up the Verona Legacy series (for now?) Say it ain't so! I was hoping to get the girl cousins' stories. Maybe there is a spinoff in the works?! In any case I really enjoyed these cast of characters and I am thankful to this series for giving me one of my all-time favorite book couples in Nicco and Arianne!

I received an ARC and I am leaving a review voluntarily. Opinions are my own.

I have absolutely no regrets regarding reading this story. Savior of Regrets has closed this incredible series perfectly. I had high expectations before I even opened this book at the first page, and I was not disappointed at all.

I found this story to be quite dissimilar to the others in the series, but that makes sense due to Matteo having a different personality to Nicco and Enzo. This story didn’t need the darkness the other books have, and there was still plenty to remind us that this is Marchetti mafia, plus Caitlin’s storyline brought those hard to read scenes which touched me to the point of tears. There are many angsty moments, and the twists in the storyline kept me turning the pages. In fact, I found I was unable to put my kindle down a times!

I can’t deny that I adore Matt and Cait. I was rooting for them from the moment they met and I highly recommend that you read their FREE prequel Angel of Tears before this book. Their journey is emotional, intense and makes compulsive reading. I absolutely loved being back in the company of Nic & Ari and Enzo & Nora too. All the characters added to the story brilliantly, and I enjoyed witnessing how they coped with the situations that they faced, especially Nicco.

This is a series that mafia romance readers will devour. I have loved each and every story. I can’t deny feeling gutted to read in the author’s notes that Savior of Regrets will, at the moment, be the final book in the series. I will always have hope that L.A. Cotton will write Alessia and Arabella’s stories one day. Until then, there will always be rereads.

"It’s not your job to fix her, Matteo. It’s your job to care enough to help her fix herself."

I liked the pace, the plot, and overall story development. I've been waiting for Matteo's book ever since Angel of Tears was released back in 2020, so it's safe to say that I was anxiously awaiting the actual book and I'm pleased with its outcome.

This book had all the elements that I have always admired from this author, a bit dark and haunting, but at the same time, passionate and angsty. Highly recommend this series and ALL of L.A. Cotton's stories.

PS: with all being said, I NEED (desperately so) Alessia (I need major drama here!) and Arabella's books, I won't take no as an answer.... It would be too cruel to not have their stories written.

Hope you like my review, remember reading and enjoying stories it's in the eye of the beholder. Be kind.

I'm so glad that I could come back into Verona Legacy world! I was waiting impatiently for Matteo's story, so, I thought, that, I'm ready for this book, but.... welll... I was not!!!!

Savior of Regrets is phenomenal and probably the most emotional story in this series. LA Coton has done it again - once, I thought, that she can't squeeze my heart more... she's doing it with double force!

Cait and Matteo kept me on toes until the last page. Their love story wasn't full of hearts and roses, but I prefer that author created their story in a little more raw way, than previous books in Verona Legacy Series.

I adore Cait for her strength, compassion - when You'll know her dramatic story, You will realize how amazing her character is. Matteo melted my heart long time ago, and after reading his pov, I adore him even more!

All the ups and downs in Savior Of Regrets crushed my heart into milion pieces just to heal it, few moments later , also the plot twist!!!!!! THE BIGGEST SUPRISE EVER!!!! It was mind blowing and I cannot wait when You'll read this book, to discover all the secrets hidden in the next Verona Legacy book.

Must Read Title!

That one night meant everything to them both, and whilst he was happy to search for her, and secretly hope he ran into her again, she tried her best to put him to the back of her mind.

Now their paths cross again.

Will they still feel the same, or has that ship well and truly sailed..?

I knew this story was going to be good, after reading the prequel "Angel of tears" and oh boy, I was so right!

Matteo isn't your typical Mafioso character. He's a lover not a fighter, a charmer not a shooter, and I loved him all the more for his unique and simply adorable personality.

Caitlin is an interesting character. She's not had an easy life and it's quite sad that she can only really rely on herself. I wanted more for her, I really did.

Together they are quite the storm. The chemistry is amazing, and the angst is simply divine.

I've loved all the Verona legacy books, and this is no exception to that. They break you down, to raise you higher and that's what I love in a book.

L.A Cotton has more than brought her A game to this series, that's for sure!

I have loved Matteo throughout this series of stories. I was so hoping he would find himself a really lovely girl.
He always came across as happy go lucky, caring and fun loving.
After a chance meeting, followed by an amazing night with Cait, Matteo has longed to find her and show her how great they could be together.
Little did he know that when he did finally find her it would be in such terrifying circumstances.

I have to be honest and say that for the middle section of this book I wanted to shake Caitlin so hard!!! Poor Matt was trying so hard to prove himself and she just didn’t give an inch.... while I completely understood all her reasons and appreciated her reluctance I was still shouting at my kindle!!
The last section of the story was action packed and had me completely hooked....
This is a great addition to the Verona legacy, with deep family values, learning to trust and also accepting that you are loved for yourself and not what benefit you can bring to the other person.

Matteo wears his heart on his sleeve that is for sure!! I love his big heart & how he’s so sweet to his sister & cousin. Also he’s fiercely protective of the ones he loves which only makes me like him more. I will say I wasn’t a huge fan of Caitlin. I mean I could in no way imagine everything she’s gone through & I can see how trusting a man would be beyond difficult. Maybe it’s because I had 5 books to fall for Matteo & I’m protective of him haha! But I was happy he finally got his happily ever after! He more than deserved it.

I was surprised but also not surprised by the plot twist. I had a gut feeling. I also loved that ending! I do want more of the happy endings for all three couples just because I love them & won’t ever get enough. Nicco & Ari will always be my favourite, Enzo will always be the biggest surprise & Matteo will always be the sweetest. I hope we get Bella & Alessia’s books too because I have a feeling these two will raise hell!

I love, love, LOVE that Matteo got his HEA! That sweet man deserved it! And I'm so excited that it was with Caitlin. Though I'll be honest and say there were quite a few times that Caitlin made me mad. I know that poor girl had damaged baggage up the wazoo. But still, I didn’t like the cold shoulder she kept giving Matt. He just wanted to love her.

I need to give a special shout out to Bella. That girl knew how to bring sunshine into a storm!

I loved how there was angst in this story but at the same time not so much that it overtook the romance. It seemed like the perfect combination. Just enough to keep me on my toes but not enough to lose my romantic heart.

Matteo and Caitlin were wonderful! But I've also glad we got to see the other two couples again. I will SO miss this world and the Marchetti family!

I am such a huge fan of this series and this author, and have waited for this story for awhile. There had always been hints of Matteo and his dream girl, the one who got away, in the rest of this series, but still I was prepared. I didn’t understand just how emotional this book would be… they literally bled through the pages as I watched Matteo pine for Caitlyn, while she did everything she could to protect herself and him by keeping her distance and her secrets. And we all know how those secrets come back to bite you!

This book is fantastic, and I loved getting a chance to catch up with Nicco and Arianne (one of my favorite couples ever), and Enzo and Nora, even the little sisters! If you haven’t read this series- start it now, with tissues nearby, and get ready for this book! It is without a doubt a must read!!

I have been dying for Matteo’s story from the glimpse we got of him throughout the series and in his novella, I knew he would steal my heart. Matteo is loyal, protective, funny, just all-around perfection. He wants to always keep his family safe especially his younger sister who he loves dearly. Matteo has a heart of gold would do anything for anyone, yet he will kill for those he cares for in an instant. I was pulling for him to find his happily ever after because he deserved it so much. In this book though I found myself not liking Caitlin as much as I had originally thought I would. She has been through a lot and deserves to stand on her own, yet when it came to stand up for herself should only would do that with Matteo and took out so much on him. I get being upset or traumatized but he didn’t deserve the back and forth and anger she slung his way. I was happy to see all the other characters and catching up with him but ultimately in the end I felt Matteo deserved better. There are a lot of twists, ups, downs that kept me glued to it and I hope Alessia and Bella get a story because they are lovable and feisty.

From the beginning, I knew there was something about Caitlin that was going to hurt. It was something she kept to herself, buried deep.
Matteo on the other hand, has been a favorite of mine throughout the series. He was the joker, the light-hearted one of the three. Maybe that's why his hurts affected me more. I found myself aching for what he was going through, hoping against hope that it would all work out.
And of course, it wouldn't be the same without all the girls that drive them all insane and keep them grounded at the same time. The sense of family is at the very core of them. The family came first, always.
It felt like coming full circle with the three boys, seeing them evolve from the first book to the men and the world that they grow into. I'm sad to be saying goodbye to the Verona Legacy Series, but I can't wait to see what comes next from this author.

(4 stars)

This is the fourth book in the series and the action just keeps coming! Ever since they had one night, Matteo can't keep Caitlin off his mind. He even went back and looked for her, but of course never found her. Through a series of events Caitlin actually ends up back in Matteo's life, not in a good way but he will take it. Problem is, Caitlin is not really excited to see Matteo, the danger is real and her first instinct is to run. Will Matteo prove that she is safe with him? Will Caitlin give them a chance to explore the feelings they both have, or will she run the first chance she gets?

Another really good addition to a series filled with danger, violence, and some steamy naughty moments. I love that we are still getting to "see" the other characters and that we are kind of seeing their HEA play out as the series goes on. I give this 4 stars.

One night was all Caitlin O'Connell gave to Matteo Bellatoni, but what an impression they both left on one another. They both think of that one night and hoped for something more. But, Caitlin O'Connell is holding secrets of her past, can her secrets destroy her future? have created with Matteo. But,, anyways Caitlin prior to meeting Matt and Zander DiMarco she had a troubled past that she kept as a secret. She wanting a normal loving family, with friends. Someone to count on, Anyways, fate had it where Caitlin was to meet Matteo Bellatoni and was shown what a good guy is. But, to keep Zander from finding out she gave herself 1 night and cut off ties. But, circumstances changed for the worst leading Caitlin and Matteo back together. Can they let this 2nd chance encounter be brushed to the side? Caitlin needs help and will she accept the Marchetti family help? Loved he build up of these two characters and the mystery and little suspense. But, the ending, I think I seen to many godfather ovies and it ddidn't seem to believable. Just saying.

This is book 4 in the Verona Legacy series. It’s Matteo’s story, and I was waiting for his story since I read the first book. And the wait was so worth it!
I so enjoyed Cait and Matteo’s story. I totally wanted to jump in the book and give both of them a big long hug. Just wrapping them in my arms. Both have their own shadows / regrets / problems / past - which they need to come to terms with. In their own way and time. Caitlin had a big issue with getting help from anyone else and Matteo just couldn’t stand by and not help.
I’d love to read more from this mafia romance series!

If you like mafia romance, dark romance, than this is the series for you! If you have never read anything in this genre before, than please start with this series, as it’s not too dark and a perfect series to get into it!!

I have been waiting forever for this….Matteo’s story started as a short story in an anthology ahead of the rest of the Verona Legacy series and since then I’ve been obsessed with what will become of these two. I.Was.not.disappointed!! Matteo isn’t like his cousins he’s gentler more ready to talk than take action until Caitlin walks back into his life and he’s suddenly got everything to fight for and a darkness he is ready to unleash until he gets his girl. He lost her once and he won’t let her go again. Did fate pull them back together or are their circumstances to much to overcome. With explosive chemistry and an undeniable connection can Caitlin continue to fight the inevitable and can Matteo win over her heart and make her his…..this story was everything I had hoped and more and it’s sad to see this series end I loved our mafioso bad boys.

LA cotton is back with the 4th and final book in the “Verona Legacy” series. I have read and loved every single release in this phenomenal series, and “Saviour Of Regrets” was everything I anticipated and more..

I absolutely adored Matt and Cait their story was gut wrenching but highly addictive. You will find it hard to put this piece of art down until you have finished the very last page. This addition to the series is full of twists and turns, it’s extremely intense and gives you all the feels. I do recommend you read the prequel before diving in “Angel of Tears” is free. I loved catching up with all the other characters in this series and I can’t recommend it enough.

Make sure you grab your copy now. You won’t “regret” it.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I was a little skeptical about Matteo book before I read it. I knew Matteo was not Nicco or Enzo he's a lover not fighter. Matteo heart though is made of gold. Which made me love him. He's so protective of the family and Cait that you can't help but fall for him. I wasn't a fan of Cait for about half though the book. That changed now though. She's a good person but she has a long qayyyo go. And after everything she's been through you can't blame her. I really hope that Tristan and Allsia get a book. Now I'm really hoping that Dominic will be getting his own book. Nicco and Ari will always remain my favorite though.

This is the deepest and most emotional story in the Verona Legacy series and I really enjoyed it a whole lot. I was so excited to finally get Matteo's story and my goodness it did not disappoint. Cait and Matteo both kept me guessing which way their story was going to go and I was on the edge of my seat and I really honestly didn't see that twist coming. This might also be the darkest book in this series so search out triggers if you need them. I'm kinda say to say goodbye to the Verona crew, but I will never forget them. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

This mafia series has been an absolute treat to devour. Nicco and Enzo have found the women that have captured their hearts and now we get Nicco's cousin Matteo Marchetti's story. He is the the one that brings the laughs and is more a lover than a fighter. He spent one amazing night with a stranger 8 months ago and has never forgotten her. Now fate has intervened and dropped her back into his life in the most unexpected way.

Caitlin never expected to see Matteo again, however when she ends up under his family's protection she is forced to confront her past. I loved these two together, she needed a rock after all her past terrible experiences with men and Matteo was the perfect knight in shining armour, if only she could let go of her past baggage to see how good things could be if she gave him a chance. Another awesome addition to this series.

Ahhhh I've been waiting for this story since reading the prequel in the Love in Lockdown Anthology, and after watching Matteo pine for Cait throughout the pages of the previous books in the series I was so excited for him to get his HEA, and Lianne did not disappoint!

The secrets and lies are thick in this book, we always knew Cait was trying to shield herself and Matteo from her past, but I had no idea it was going to be so sinister!

The twists and fast pace in this book kept me hooked from page one!

Matteo is the charming, fun loving guy we've come to know and love, but his determination to fight for Cait in this book showed us a completely different side of him, and man did it suit him 🥵

I really hope this isn't the last we see of this world, I'm so invested in these characters and I never want to leave 😭
