I am a quirky writer from the US who dabbles in dark, paranormal and contemporary romance. My stories aren't always typical, but contain a little something for everyone.

***Safety details at the bottom***

I like the writing, but it is a bit slow moving. Also, based on the blurb, it isn't really what I expected to read, but I'm definitely interested for what else is to come in the next book. Hopefully less ow drama please 😅🤞, and maybe some softer moments from the hero since he is a bit of a douche, although I understand him at times, but we'll see.

Safety:

Virgin h / manwhore H

21 yr old h / ? H

Cheating- maybe? (Look to ow drama)

No condom despite his past with women 😬

Slight om drama
-heroine lets hero believe she has a bf
-heroine hangs out with om who likes her, and makes hero jealous on purpose in some parts, such as eating with him across the street from hero's work place

Ow drama
-hero is jealous that heroine supposedly has a bf so he throws multiple ow in her face which didn't necessarily make me mad, more so annoyed, because he did it to make her jealous and she was omitting the fact that she didn't have a bf. So most of the ow drama is to make heroine mad and jealous pretty much
- hero lets ow straddle him and he makes out with her in front of heroine for a short time, this is after him and the heroine kiss and he fingers her. I think him and heroine kiss shortly after 😬
-hero takes ow to her place of work, after him and heroine sleep together
-hero throws details about him and ow in heroines face such as her being a good fck and such
-heroine's friend tries to sleep with hero but he turns her down both times, altho hes still a hoe and checks her out in front of the heroine too
-although hero throws ow's in her face, I don't think he's actually slept with any ow since meeting heroine, or done anything sexual with any of them besides the kissing and straddling in the one scene

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: MOTH.

GENRE: DARK ROMANCE.
AUTHOR: LANA SKY.
TYPE: BOOK#1 OF DRAGON TRIAD DUET.
POV: SINGLE PERSPECTIVE
MY RATING: 5 STARS.

There is no book by Lana Sky which doesn't deserve a full on 5 stars...There is just something about her books which soothes all my cravings for a dark Romance.

MOTH is a dark Romance..book#1 of a duet focusing on local thug Raze and a timid, emotionally impaired girl Hannah.
This was a sizzling hot read...which it isn't what it looks like...both of the protagonist have gaping wounds from the past which ceases to hurt. All there is left to see of they can heal each other or will give more pain to themselves.

The character always have a way to portray a unique quality to them which is so hard to find in other books. This was such a raw, emotional read with a storyline so enchanting that it made this book unputdownable.

2,5*

Me and Lana have a hit or miss thing going on! She has a tendency of making her's h weak, distressed, lost in the world, that get's on my nerve a lot! They all have in their core the resilience to survive all that "damage" but its hard for me to focus.

This was a half miss. Anna is trying to escape an obsessive control freak brother, we need almost 90% of the book to understand how deep that obsession goes... The character has a lot of layers but that fact that she doesn't really try to escape him annoys me! if she can ask her father for 10k to buy a designer bag she can ask for 20k and escape the brother. She just settles but then comes the twist...

Meeting the H was her rebellion against her brother, she basically use him to get her emotion lose! The H is under the impression that a friend of the brother that checks on her is her boyfriend and she lets him believe that and has sex with H several times! The H also kisses other girl to make her jealous!
The H mother was abused by his father so he "feels" for her. The H was meh, not really bad or ruthless nor good!

Random things:
- Like that the H called her Bunny and did a lot of rabbit remarks!
- The "best friend" was entitle and nothing to the story!
- i will maybe finish this duet but only when i have nothing else to read!

This book left me so pissed off because IT HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL, DAMN IT! This book could have been a solid 5 stars! I feel so disappointed and cheated and just ugh! Frustrated! Possible spoilers ahead.

THE GOOD!
+ Concept & Characters:
The overall concept of the story was amazing; Rafe being some thug and Hannah being this numb, emotionless woman who constantly threw him off his feet because he just didn't know what to expect with her. I liked that she challenged him despite her emotionless and scardy nature; I liked that she kept him on his toes and defied everything he was used to. You don't read about that very often and I really appreciated it. I also liked the symbolism: that Rafe was this taunting dragon while Hannah was a flighty rabbit. I think this described them beautifully and quite accurately. I also liked their dynamic. The chemistry was there between them, you could tell that they wanted each other but they kept teasing, kept pushing each other's buttons and when they finally snapped, it was EXPLOSIVE. I think the sex scenes between them were also appropriate for their characters and the story. You could genuinely feel Rafe's anger, possession and lust, and you could feel Hannah's need to "feel" something.

THE BAD!
- Plot & Ending:
Literally the most action we saw (not talking about sex) was when Bran hits her and she runs to Rafe for protection. The book ends shortly after that. So many things are left unanswered and unclear. What exactly happened to Lexi? Who was in the wrong, Hannah or Bran? What's the cause of Bran's obsession with Hannah? SO MANY THINGS ARE LEFT UNANSWERED! Literally, by the end of the book you're left thinking: what the hell did I just read? What was the point of this book? Seriously, what was the point?! I feel like I wasted my time reading this book for nothing because now that I reflect on it, the story dragged. A lot. It STARTED great, the MIDDLE was also great, but the final chapter or two? What was the point? What happened? The ending was rushed and honestly unsatisfying.

- Writing Style:
This is my first time reading from Lana Sky, and while I think her writing is beautiful, it was also vague, repetitive and hard to read at times. I needed to reread some paragraphs a few times to actually understand what was happening. Some things didn't need to be there because they were repeating what was previously said. Other things simply hindered the progress of the story.

Overall, while it was a good story to read, I don't think I would read the next book. To me, the book just feels incomplete. Two starts for the concept (idea) and characters.

Lana Sky brings readers another story fueled by deception, tension, and control. A sizzling story that makes us craving the next book as soon as we put this one down.

Moth started as a re-edit of an early story of Sky's Dragonfly, but soon became a much different, much DARKER story.

Hannah and Rafe have a fire that burns between them, drawing then to each other like a mlth to a flame. The flames between them burn hot as they find their lives increasingly entangled. With delicious NSFW moments Lana Sky delivers the steam.

Hannah finds herself torn between Rafe, a higher up in the triad, and her manipulate brother Brenden, a police officer. Both Hannah and Rafe clearly have past they don't want to face, but it seems that will be coming to a head very shortly.

My need to read Flame, the follow up to Moth is overwhelming, with a perfect cliffhanger that leaves me dying for more. Curious to see what comes next in the intriguing world of Hannah and Rafe.

Amount of sex 3.5 / 5
How explicit are the sex scenes 4 / 5
Story 5 / 5
Overall: 5 / 5

Moth is the first book in the Dragon Triad Duet written by author Lana Sky. This was the first book that I’ve read by the author, and it will definitely not be my last! The storyline is so captivating that I was absolutely hooked from the very first page. Even though this is true, it was the characters that really captured me.

Moth is a dark romance, and it tells the story of Hannah and Rafe. Hannah wants to break free of the mental cage that she’s been subjected to. So she moves to a small, rundown apartment in the hopes that she can live a little more. While heading out to a club with her friend Mara, Hannah meets Rafe. She’s fascinated by him, but she’s also scared. Rafe is a strong alpha male that shows a rough exterior. Although, as the story continues, we start to see that he’s much more than what he shows the world.

This story was so captivating, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! That last chapter, I almost died, so be prepared for quite the cliffhanger! Now the second book, Flame, can’t come soon enough!

Hannah and Rafe are such complex, dynamic characters. I devoured this introduction to the pair. The scorching build between them. Their interactions with the others. Their reactions to one another.
A well built plot with enough turns to keep me on my toes. Sky has herself a new fan. I am absolutely counting down to the next book.

Like a Moth is drawn to the flame
Hannah is drawn to Rafe no matter what and this dark romance is their beginning of a story that is weaved with triads and dark world that is addicting.
It’s questionable but Sky writes a convincing story between these two as their lives tangled in this seedy story.
Hannah is young and should be impressionable given her age. Yet from the get go there is a sense that Hannah is loose cannon.
She is numb to the core, carrying around a piece of her past that leaves hints but doesn’t explains her actions.

She wanders through her day like a lost sheep, looking to find a connection and feel something.
Until Rafe enters the picture and shocks her with word that will change the core of existence by giving her a pet name Bunny.
Such an innocent name but the connotation that that Rafe is giving to the world will send chills down anyone’s back .

Rafe is ready to play any way .

For a woman that is numbed by the world around her , Hannah is drawn explicitly to Rafe even though there is a history of monsters in her life. She should be running away but Hannah had enough and we soon discover there is different types of monsters lurking around. Hints are dropped of the dangers that lurk but there is still the illusion that everything is fine.

What next who knows given how this played out in the end. Sky had me hooked from start to finish and can’t wait to read more of this world

This is the first book in the Dragon Triad Duet, and the story of Rafe, and Hannah. I thought this book was really well developed, the characters have great chemistry, and I was captivated the entire book. Hannah has such a damaged history, and Rafe seems to see right into the soul of her, their story was raw, gritty, emotional, intense, dark, twisted, and suspenseful. This is a definite must read, and I can't wait for book two.

I picked up this book not knowing what I was getting into. And man, was I on a ride! The story was unique enough to hold my interest diving into some dark themes which was detailed enough to keep your interest but not too much to know where the story was going.
I have never read this author before but now I need book 2 in my life so she must have done something right! Haha

Sweet holy hell

What trickery is this? To say that this book had me riveted would be an understatement. From the first page, the mastery that is this author came alive. When people describe books as magic, I think that it is for writing like this. This author is masterful when it comes to using words to illicit feelings. It was mesmerizing, and I, like the little fly, was caught in her web.

Suspenseful, full of mystery, chemistry galore, and strong characters made this one of my favorites from this author. Highly recommended.

New Adult, Dark Romance, Suspense, Enemies-to-Lovers, , Multicultural & Interracial

First Person, female-POV

This is book #1 of the Dragon Triad Duet. It does end in a cliffhanger.

Contains issues and situations some may find triggering.

Wow!!! This was definitely one of the best books that I've read this year. So, don't expect a very coherent review, because I'm still in shock. Feeling it all!!!

I don't usually give 5 stars to first part of duets or series, because the plot is not complete, I usually ended feeling like I'm missing something. I mean, I am missing a lot here, but I have to coherent with my feelings also, because at the end of the day, reading can be a huge cathartic experience, and this book was AMAZING!!!!

INEVITABLE LOVE!!!

33.5/35 STARS –  5 STARS (between 33.5 stars and 35 stars)

Addictiveness: 5 Character: 5 Cover: 5 Freshness: 5 Plot: 5 Romance: 5 Writing Style: 5

Action 4/5 Angst 5/5 Darkness 5/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of dark, twisted romance!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 5/5 This book hooked me from the beginning, and it kept me at the edge of my seat. I've missed lunch with my family because I didn't feel like I could let go of the book. As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Very complex characters with amazing background stories and great evolution during the book.

Hannah was an awesome heroine. That girl was so relatable and she felt so true. She was very strong and it was really unexpected. At the beginning I felt like I would dislike her, because maybe she would be a weak character. But her growth throughout the story was incredible.

There is only one choice left-live that pretty, fragile lie and craft the walls of your own ignorant little cage around you.

Like a moth dancing on the edges of a flame.

by Hannah

Rafe was AMAZING! Yeah, I know. I've a complete weakness for the jerks. :) It has to be true, because I always ended up falling in love with them. He loved to pretend he didn't care, and I laughed a lot with it. It had a bit of immaturity his reactions and they were cute. He really reminded me so much of my youngest son, so I felt he was also really easy to connect.

Secondary characters they were all really in the background, but they all felt relevant to the story and to the main characters reactions.

Villain/antagonists one very clear villain a few antagonists that added to the subplots.

They were easy (ok, maybe not that easy) to love, to connect and understand!!!

Cover: art 5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, subtitle 2/5, background 5/5 buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one was perfection!!! Really, this art was amazing, and it added to the story, it didn't feel generic at all. The colors and the font, everything! I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Freshness: 5/5 ONE-OF-A-KIND! Really everything about this plot was weird, creepy and it worked so well. Crazy, but it felt like an out-of-this-world concept and I can't wait for more. As fresh as water during summer in the middle of the desert!!!

Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5  Amazing opening with an incredible ending even though with a cliffhanger. Superb plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Great setting, a few really good subplots with unexpected twists. Highest level of enjoyment!

This story was intense, creepy and it kept me uneasy the entire time. I never knew what to expect next. If felt so complicated, but the author cohesive writing made it all make sense.

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4.5/5, steam 4/5  Some would say not very romantic :). I love a twisted, angsty, dark love story. It was intense, shocking and hot as hell. The smut had wonderfully descriptive scenes and the main couple was explosive together. There is such a tiny line between love and hate and the authors explored it well here. It felt like unavoidable love!!!

Writing Style: 5/5 I think this was my first book from the author and I'm already feeling like, how I have been missing out, because I'm certain this is not a one-hit wonder, but the type of writing that I must read everything. Creative plot, relatable characters, explosive romance, original concept, everything with a clean, cohesive writing. Work of a wordsmith!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don't really believe in perfection...

I really missed the male POV. I caught myself many times wanting to know what Rafe was thinking at a specific moment.

I understand the need of cliffhangers, it doesn't mean that I have to like them. :)

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like dark romance; you MUST read this because is EXCEPTIONAL!!!

In a word.... frustrating. The back and forth, push and pull between Hannah and Rafe is exhausting and over written. The entire book is a cat and mouse game. She is clearly a very scared, insecure girl and Rafe adds to that with his harsh treatment towards her. Its almost like he is trying to make her stronger; make her stand up for herself, but she is beyond the point of broken. You just want to shake her and scream on her behalf. I dont know. Im interested to see how it plays out, but im not sure how badly i need to know to have to read another book with the same dynamic between these two. 3*bunny*stars!

Wow! What more can you say about Hannah and Rafe. I love the way Hannah fins herself through standing up to Rafe. How she finds what he hides, and he finds what she thought she had hidden so well. Lana Sky never disappoints with her characters. This story is full of great characters, pain, a tortured hero, growth, a strong heroine, suspense, mystery, and Love. Can't wait for the conclusion of the Duet!

Moth by Lana Sky is the First book in the Dragon Triad Duet Book series. This starts the story of Rafe and Hannah. Rafe is a dark mafia, alpha anti-hero who everyone seems to be afraid of. Hannah is the complete opposite of him. Hannah is a sheltered women because of her overbearing brother but Hannah has broken free to live on her own. When Hannah goes out with her friends, she happens to meet Rafe. Both are attracted to the other. Rafe is notices that there is something different abut Hannah and that makes him want to test / tease her. This was a page turning read for me which does end setting us up for the next installment.

Lana Sky takes you on psychological twists that include dark romance aspects that keep you 100% locked into her books! Moth is the PRIME example of this, there is a mysterious aspect that lingers in the book that has a reader thinking that they are missing something, but not being able to full pinpoint where it is. Gah, I was hooked!

Moth is the first in the Dragon Triad Duet and features Hannah and Rafe. These two are VERY different people, Hannah is a little confusing because you cannot figure her out, but you aren't supposed to. She is not even able to figure herself out! Enter in Rafe and these two create some interesting fireworks!

All in all, an excellent introduction to a dark romance duet! There is chemistry, mystery, a dark and gritty story and prepare yourself for the cliffy at the end! I give this book 4.5 outta 5 stars and I cannot wait for the next book.

PS: Thank you to Lana Sky for an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

3.5 stars.

Before picking this up I had no idea that it was about the Chinese mafia. I didn't know that a triad is a Chinese transnational organized crime syndicate. In hindsight, the dragon symbolism on the cover should've clued me in, but there are so few books on the Asian mafia that it just didn't occur to me. I've read countless mafia books with the Italians, the Russians, the Mexicans, but never about the Chinese.

To say that I was intrigued when I found out would be an understatement.

The first chapter in and my eyebrow was already raised in interest when I realized one of the characters was Asian. The last name Chan gave it away, but shoutout to Lana Sky for not giving her a stereotypical Chinese first name. Her name is Mara, which is absolutely beautiful.

That same eyebrow raised even higher when I realized that the thugs from the blurb could very likely be Asian too. More Chinese last names were dropped: Zheng, Wei. Plus the description of their hair color, black.

And then we're given the name of the H, who also happens to be the leader of this entourage.

Rafe.

Hot fucking damn.

I don't know what's with me and that name, but anything along the lines of Raphael, Raffe, Rafe, etc is just so fucking hot. It has to be from all those angel books. Namely Angelfall.

Anyways.

As if the name itself isn't hot enough, Rafe is described as being inked with shades of reds, indigo, and black. Goodfuckingbye I am deceased. Then I proceeded to study the book cover in detail and my soul left my body for a second time.

Just so there's no confusion, Rafe is HOT.

By now, my expectations are sky fucking high.

The first interaction between our girl Hannah and Rafe had dark, sizzling potential written all over it.

.
.
.

Well, maybe it's because I placed my expectations a little too high, but Moth ended up falling a bit flat for me.

I am obsessed with Lana Sky's Crescendo and I was hoping for something that at least loosely resembles Danny and Dante's level of love? Trust? Passion? Whatever you may call it. I wanted that depth and intensity.

Hannah and Rafe played too many games, whether intentional or not, for me to enjoy the story. I hate OW/OM drama, and even though it was really nothing major, it was still used as a way to create angst and frustration.

I don't mind if they refuse to admit their feelings out loud, but I needed to see that unity and loyalty through their actions. Unfortunately for me, their relationship was spotty at best.

I don't think I'll continue with the second book in this duet... but then again it is about the triad, so maybe I will. Regardless, respect to Lana Sky for doing a damn good job portraying the Asian characters in this book. Not once did I raise my eyebrows at any stereotypical bullshit.

I can't deny that this story had a captivating aspect. Right away you know something is definitely wrong about the heroine (Hannah) but you are not quite sure about the truth of her situation. She isn't overly confident and instantly you can tell that she is running from something or someone. She hasn't experienced life as much as other girls her age and is quiet and repressed. The story keeps you guessing and never reveals the true reason Hannah is running. There are some hints and snippets from her past and later, we know the person/thing that she is evading but we don't get the entirety of the story.

However, Rafe is the mysterious gang banger and local Triad enforcer. He begins to shake things up in Hannah's life and their mutual attraction is evident. There is a constant push and pull to their relationship and by no means is their relationship conventional. Hannah is drawn to Rafe even though she knows she shouldn't be so attracted to him but he sparks something inside her she has had hidden inside herself for so long that she thrives on his interactions. Rafe is more hard core and is both feared and respected amongst the locals in his community. He showcases the bad boy persona but as Hannah gets closer to him she sees that he isn't what everyone made him out to be, a monster because she has seen what a monster really looks like and that isn't Rafe.

The mystery and suspense in the story's plot is what had me so engrossed by the book. There is a connection between Rafe and Hannah's story but the book ends in a cliffhanger before the puzzle pieces can be filled completely by the characters. The romance is tied in really nicely into the plot and I loved the whole jealously element between Rafe and Hannah. They clearly were attracted to one another but were constantly trying to convince themselves that they could end things and sever ties with each other but that proved futile since they were always doing things to make the other jealous. This ultimately lead to them even more attracted to the each other since they couldn't bare seeing the other with someone else.

"He's like a flame licking at the thin wick linked to my control. One taste of his fire, and I can't slow the blaze."

"I'm a moth again, fluttering to cloth to a blazing flame, only to be shocked when it burns. The pain feels different from the cold, numbed state that it's used to flying in. One taste of something new and it can't get enough, no matter how reckless the act becomes. "

Twisty and Suspenseful Perfection
Lana Sky has penned yet another addictive read in Moth, the first of her Dragon Triad duet. This Romantic Suspense has a deliciously dark and sexy as f*** anti-hero in the form of Rafe, a Triad enforcer and broken bookish Hannah, the heroine, who hides from the world. When their paths cross, something starts to give in both of them, their lives becoming ever more entwined despite their differences: Rafe seeks to torment Hannah and Hannah finds herself drawn to him despite the danger he represents. I found the title of the book perfect, conjuring up the image of the proverbial moth circling the flame, knowing that it may get hurt but powerless to resist the attraction.

This author certainly knows how to create male and female leads that make the reader feel on a truly visceral level and once again I quickly became emotionally involved with them as they get to know each other and slowly their complex layers are revealed. Often it is the small quirky details she reveals about her characters that reveal much, whilst at the same time raising so many questions.

I loved how secrets abound in this read – there was so much I wanted to know about Hannah’s past in particular and enjoyed how the author revealed her history as the story unfolded. Rafe too is far more than the thug he initially appears to be and I am looking forward to finding out more about him in the next instalment. The scenes between them and the accompanying banter are steamy and passionate, with red hot sex scenes. Rafe is a man who does not do relationships and Hannah is in for a rough ride, although despite or because of this, her character grows in confidence.

There are a number of plot threads involving other characters, not least the monster that overshadows Hannah and all that she is and this made for a nail-biting read. This monster and the danger inherent in Rafe’s world gradually come to the fore, which give the story depth and at the same time propel the couple’s relationship forward.

The book ends on a cliff hanger and book two cannot come soon enough! Please note, a copy of this book was given to me by the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not all monsters lurk in closets or under beds. “We all have demons inside, waiting to emerge when least expected”. Some monsters are scarier than others.

She’s running from her past, but it followed her to college. Now she wants to be on her own but can’t seem to escape her brother no matter what she does. She moved into her own apartment only to have him set up surveillance on her and check in on her daily. Her escape from under Branden’s watchful eye has not gone as planned. Will Hannah ever have the chance to be on her own and live her life on her own terms? With him out of town for an impromptu vacation, she spreads her wings a bit to live her life, but things aren’t exactly as she expected them to be.

He is living a life he really doesn’t want but has no choice in the matter. His uncle took him and gave him a future, and he owes him for that. The only problem is that he doesn’t really want to do what his uncle expects of him. If he doesn’t though, it could mean that he has no future or life at all. When he meets the little rabbit in his bar, he is intrigued by her and her response to him. Rafe can’t seem to get away from her or get her out of his mind. Rafe may lead a life of crime, but his real passion is in his studio. He’s not what he seems.

I enjoyed this book and the characters. Rafe and Hannah are both trying to live the life they want but can’t seem to catch a break and find that life. They are both under the watchful eye of family members and are drawn to each other inexplicably. Hannah has a huge secret and Rafe has only stumbled upon part of it by helping her get away from Branden’s abuse. This story is full of action, secrets suspense and dangerous people. The characters have so much more to them and the discovery of the real person is so interesting to me. I had a hard time putting the book down. I give this story a 4.5-star review and cannot wait for more of the story and getting the answers I need. If you like dangerous men that have a soft side, curious women, organized crime, and suspenseful stories, you will love this book.

I love it when I come across complex and destructive characters.

Now when I say destructive, I don't always mean that they're self-destructive. But you can take that however you would like to.

Hannah is a reserved, quiet young woman. She's trying to find some form of freedom from her family ties and the hold her dear brother has over her. Moving out of her family home and into a more dangerous city has given her a small taste of the freedom she was longing for. But she struggles to feel. To feel anything other than numb to everything around her. Everyone. All of her experiences have driven her to this point and the question is... will she succumb?

Rafe is part of the Dragon Triad. Essentially gangsters in this shady little city. But there's a different side to him that he doesn't show anyone. A dark side that taunts and uses what it wants. But also something divinely dark and beautiful. When he meets Hannah, he immediately sees their similarities and can't help but toy with her.

But their attraction to one another could be incredibly explosive. Dangerous. Nothing either of them will walk away from without damage.

So many secrets and dark paths intertwine these characters to one another. The introduction you receive to these characters in Moth will sate your appetite for so much more darkness. You will want to linger in the shadows and watch their toxic explosion. Nothing will prepare you for the seedy hell you're about to walk into.

This was the first book I've read from Lana Sky and I've already purchased another one to read while I anxiously wait for Book 2 - Flame - to arrive.

Reading this story reminded me again why I am so incredibly drawn to the darker side of romance novels and the dark paths you have to walk inside the twisted minds of characters to see the rapt beauty that awaits inside. A fantastically dark read that I will have to enjoy again and again.

𝑰’𝒎 𝒂 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝒇𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆, 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒔.

I'm going to make this review brief and short.
Why you ask? First, it is a duet so I don't want to divulge too much. Second, this book saved me. After so many books I've read and didn't connect with, finally this one came.

𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎’𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓.

The plot was excellent and one I haven't read yet. Yes it's a dark mafia style read but I haven't had the chance to read one about the Chinese Triad. And the characters were different and intriguing. The plot revolves around our characters but the background story which brought our characters to meet is the one leading this book. And enjoyed it so much.

𝑯𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈. 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒚… 𝑨 𝒇𝒐𝒙 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒃𝒊𝒕.

The leading characters are well written and most of the time cryptic so it made me want to read more and discover more.

The H is hot, cynical and fit the h so that it's amazing to see how he reads her so well.
The h is weird, quirky and her background story was not revealed fully, which made me need the second one just to understand what happened to her.
Their connection and sexual tension is off the charts.

“𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒎𝒆. “𝑰’𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆, 𝒃𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒚 𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒃𝒊𝒕.”

There were some things I didn't like, but they didn't hinder my reading that much. For example the fact that the h acted a bit weak in facing some situations (I wanted her to fight damn-it). And the H did some things which I didn't understand fully but...

This book is a 4 stars read and I liked it so much!
𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒆𝒔𝒕, 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒏.

I need the second one to complete their
story.

Lana Sky, Lana Sky what type of twisted world have you written for us?  Moth was a surprising story that I was not expecting!  A little perplexing at first, the untold backstory had me wondering what in the world was going on, but it just added to the mystery of the story that was being told.  The main female character is a complex creature and I just didn’t know who the real woman was. Even at the end of the book I still didn’t know which of her characteristics were truly her and which ones she was just putting on to protect herself with.  Rafe is an arrogant a-hole but I sensed deep down he might have a heart of gold, but it is still hard to tell.  Overall, the book is incredible and just left me dumbfounded, gob smacked, and in awe of Ms. Sky’s writing abilities.  I am looking forward to book 2, Flame (because really can you have a moth without a flame?) to see where it all goes.  5-glowing stars for Moth by Lana Sky.

Hannah Dewitt just wants something for herself, her own sense of freedom.  Hannah though, is never truly alone even when she is finally able to move out and live on her own, she is always being watched and always being “taken” care of.  When Hannah gets the chance for just a little extra time to herself, she jumps at it, but as luck would have it, her chance brings her face to face with danger.  The kind of danger that could cost her more than just her freedom, maybe even her life.  Rafe Shen is one of the leaders of the Triad and for some reason can’t let the little “rabbit” escape his mind.  Soon enough the rabbit is all the dragon can think about and there is more at stake than even Rafe knows.  Rafe’s dragon draws Hannah like a Moth to a flame and only time will tell who will get burned.

What the french toast!?!?! Like FREAKING YES!!!! I literally started reading this at bedtime (around 10ish PM) and stayed up until 3AM to finish it! I couldn't stop reading and who cares that I was a hagard mess for the fam the next day? It was COMPLETELY worth it! This book...I don't even know where to start, it was that flippin good! I don't want to spoil it for anyone either so I want to keep my squealing to a minimum...so let's see...

Hannah is amazing! I'm so used to reading flaky chicks that are a bit predictable (yeah..it sucks but it comes with my fave genres so I get over it..mostly) but she is definitely NOT a flaky woman and actually has a good brain which she uses for the most part (SHOCKER)! At first I was like super confused because I wasn't sure what the heck was going in certain aspects..but it started to become more clear as I read. However I am still not 100% on what happened or is going to happen. I need the next book PRONTO!!!

Rafe....OMG...RAFE!!!!!!!!! He is a freaking wet dream of a man! Like seriously where the heck can I find someone like him???!!! Oh wait...I'm totally married, very happily....but still, he is going to be in my fantasies for the unforeseeable future. God he is such an A-Hole, but in the best and naughty way. Can't wait to read more of him, YUM!

All the other characters and the storyline/plot is pretty good too, it doesn't feel too rushed or just thrown together. It's just fantastic and Lana Sky did an amazing job! This is the first book I have read by her, but it won't be the last!
Read the book!!!!

Okay, this story was all consuming and gripping. It takes on some intense issues but I think that's what gives its edge and intensity. Hannah has crafted a coping mechanism to protect herself but once she meets Rafe that method no longer works. He sparks something in her and rather than walking around numb, she feels everything. Something she's tried to avoid for years. Rafe is great character even when he acts like a cold and indifferent thug. Just like Hannah, he keeps his real self hidden away. He tries to scare Hannah to some extent but Hannah has already met a worse monster. And unfortunately Hannah has been controlled and manipulated for far too long. The depths of the manipulation is shocking. I feel for her. Despite Hannah's conciliatory nature, she is stronger than she realises. She just needed it to come out or more accurately have someone help her bring out her inner strength. I think this is Rafe's role in her life. But more than that, the two of them spark something in each other, something neither of them expected.

There are some subtle hints and clues alluding to things happening in the background and I have formed a few of my own theories. Primarily that they revolve around one person. A person with everything to lose. The ending leaves us with more questions and shows the depths of Hannah's cage. It also cements my theories but I could be wrong. I am eagerly awaiting the next book to discover what awaits Hannah and Rafe. I hope that she gets stronger still and finds the freedom she deserves.

"𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒍."

I don't know what to feel right now. The book ends with a cliffhanger and I'm stunned.

Hannah is in the dark side of her mind, feeling nothing but numbness. She lives on autopilot, wanting to become a writer, scared of her brother and indesicive of wanting to feel or remain numb.
Rafe is a scary, sexy, anti-hero jerk who controls businesses, a bit like a gangster leader.

The story is a but creepy but suiting and addicting. Once you start reading you can't let go, but once it ends you realise that you haven't been given much information. You're still in the dark with no idea how the story will continue, how the plot will twist.
Hannah meets Rafe and feels safe despite the dangerous aura around him, like a rabbit entering the lion's den wishing to return unharmed.
Rafe acts like he doesn't care, but he truly does. When he recognises something in Hannah that he feels too, he tries to torment Hannah to make her feel some emotion- anger, sadness, anything.
Hannah and Rafe are drawn to each other but they won't admit it. "A moth drawn towards the light", only here we cannot determine who's the moth and who's the light. Maybe both of them are each other's light in their darkness, maybe not.
Their attraction towards each other is explosive, both emotionally and sexually.

A fantastic dark romance book that I would readily read anytime again!
I cannot wait for the next book "Flame" to release soon enough!!

Moth is a thrilling dark romance revolving around two individuals that are drawn to each other in a bleak environment that is filled with violence and questionable morals.

When we are first introduced to Hannah, we gather that a tragic past event has shaped how she lives her present day life and interactions with others. The one disturbing relationship she has is with her brother Branden. He is relentless in keeping tabs on her whereabouts, causing her extreme stress to do the right thing by him. She is an adult but he does not want to treat her as one, it’s like a parent/child relationship. She wants to live her own life but when it comes to life experiences, she is lacking.

Enter Rafe. When Hannah’s friend Mara drags her to a nightclub one night she attracts his attention. He is known as a dangerous criminal in the community causing people to live in fear. Rafe is drawn to Hannah, baffled by her very obvious lack of fear or emotion. One of the ways he loves to provoke her is by making numerous references to her being a bunny:

“I want to play, little bunny.”

Her emotions are on edge, especially when her association with Rafe causes her overprotective brother to go to scary extremes to keep her protected. When certain things transpire between the siblings you wonder if Rafe is a much safer choice than her family when it comes to her well being. Can’t wait for book 2 to uncover more of Hannah’s past, the role her brother Branden played in those tragic events, and how Rafe can shape her future.

Wow... this release has been highly anticipated for me, for at least a couple of years. I've been following LS's writing for years and initially read one of the first versions of this when it was known as "Dragonfly" on wattpad, and I think that's around the point when I realized there was something truly special about the way LS wrote. I find that when I attempt to find similar books in the dark romance genre they more often than not end up being trash? However, in comparison, LS's writing through the interweaving of plot, characterization, and setting is just top-notch. As someone who is both very picky and dabbles in a bit of writing myself, it makes me so happy. Damnit.

Reading Moth was an absolute joy ride for me, the writing is no different in this novel than any of her others, enrapturing, beautiful, raw. I loved it.

Moth provides a fascinating exploration into the issues of abuse and its psychological impacts, crime, and corruption as well as concepts of identity. This is all done through the exploration of Hannah's psyche and her relationships with her brother Branden and Rafe.

Not to mention the electrifying chemistry between Hannah and Rafe–AHHHHHHHHH. It is just so good. On top of that, I have to mention that LS is just so great at showing and not telling. All around fantastic.

Can't wait for second book in the duet.

I highly recommend reading Moth and basically anything LS has ever written. Not reading this would be a mistake.
