The Forsaken #3

Harboring Harlow

Rate this book
I am one of the Forsaken.

I never thought it would be like this.

Growing up in the Harvest House, I knew what my life would be like… taken to a foreign planet and mated to an alien Klan. That didn’t sound so bad, until I got here. It’s so much worse than I could ever have imagined.

When a desperate Klan murders another in their quest for a mate, they win me and imprison me in their home. Treated worse than vermin, my life is meaningless and I begin to lose hope...

Will I ever find mates that will take care of me or will I forever remain a captive in the hands of this corrupted Klan?

My name is Harlow, and I’m being harboured.

*Harboring Harlow is book three in The Forsaken series, this book can be read as a stand-alone as can any of the others. This book has mature content intended for 18+ with explicit and violent scenes. Harboring Harlow is a reverse harem, dark alien sci-fi romance*

Great read!

This is my second ever alien romance novel, and first alien RH. I have to say I really enjoyed! It didn’t take long to understand their few words spoken in their alien language but I do wish there was a quick “dictionary” in the front of the book because there were a few words I didn’t know what they stood for so I just guessed. The writing style was excellent and I think I only noticed two grammatical errors throughout the whole book. The authors did a great job at tugging at your emotions. The book starts with our human FMC being held captive by her “mates”. There are several triggers as she is continuously tortured until eventually escaping and meeting other aliens who take her in. This book is about dealing with the demons and darkness in your past and learning to live again. There were a couple of times I felt the book drag a little and ended up skim reading, hence the deduction of 1 star, but overall I really enjoyed the book and now I plan on reading the other two in the series that came out before this one. They can be read as standalones but the females are all connected to the others.

Update: if you read the series in order, the first book has a list of what the alien words mean!

Ok read

Good read, but so far, this is my least favorite book of the series. I’m sure you’ve read this in just about every other review, but harboring Harlow really is so much different than the 1st 2 books. I very much enjoyed the darkness of this read and found myself crying over takkar and loving how well written his instability was, but overall, I had to make myself finish this one. This book just didn’t flow as well as the 1st 2. Had I started with this one, I probably would have found it more enjoyable, but I found myself questioning the timeline of things too much; for instance, the guys have been living in the forest for only so many years, yet they didn’t understand the traditions but according to the 1st 2 books these traditions had been in place much longer than the guys’stunt in isolation.. I just don’t enjoy when a series starts messing up on timelines and it happened here a few times with different things, so it really threw off my reading flow.

Yes, this can be read as a stand-alone.

Dark but good

Definitely darker than the last books, I cringed a little here and there, but I loved it and found the love interests to be more endearing than others. I love all the books in the series and I can’t wait for the next ones.

Oh man. This book started off making me ache with sadness and it didn't stop for a while. My heart filled with grief at just the prologue then when I started reading how Harlow basically woke up and had a COMPLETELY different life than Carmen or Shiloh right from the get go, I just couldn't make myself smile for the longest time. She was treated HORRIBLY. OMG. They degraded her so badly. I wanted her to hurry and find her Klan. I kept going to the chapters to see how many I had left until one of her mated had a chapter. I almost couldnt take anymore. I was getting so HEATED. They all needed was to find each other.
And then, they finally did.
I INSTANTLY fell in love with Sev and Dev.
Sev just wanted to love Harlow and finally have his mate and be normal. Dev. My poor tormented Dev. He didnt think he deserved a mate. So he tortured himself. It was so hard to watch. This story was brutal. I was literally at my wits end when Sev mated with her and Dev had his heart broken. YALL BROKE MY HEART FOR DEV. LET THAT BOY GET SOME HAPPY TOO. But y'all luckily redeemed yourselves. Shewwwww.
Oh my god. These stories get better and better. I am smiling talking about introducing Harlow 'meeting' Takkar in her dreams. Omg. Then when the twins found out. PRICELESS!!!!! Then when she rescued him...omg my eyes. I cried. I cried for Bakkar too wtf. Stupid period. And when he finally noticed they were his elons. Wahhhh. My heart was racing!!!!! This book was so good!!! The best!!!
Then FINALLY. FINALLY Dev got to mate with Harlow. And it was magical and hot and exactly how I pictured Dev to be. Unrelenting.
Takkar with Harlow was so addicting. Their bond was stronger than ANY that I have seen out of ALL the members of every Klan. And when they finally mated.
W
O
W
That was intense. I actually squirmed TWICE. HOLY MOLY.
Klan Rakkab was such a heartwarming story and I love each and every one. I cannot even believe that I have LOVED and ADORED every klan like this. Every one is different and special in their own way and I am GIDDY to read Tatiana's story. Also, is Harlow preggo? LOL

So vekking good!

So a couple of fair warnings:
Harlow’s story is darker than Carmen’s or Shiloh’s so if you’ve read those 2 and think this might be the same it’s not. If you have any triggers then please don’t read this book.
Also, I’m going do you a solid and advise you keep tissues handy.

Please don’t let the warnings keep you from reading the book. If you can handle it I promise it’s worth every second. This story is definitely dark and poor Harlow’s story starts with the worst kind of luck. Honestly I bawled my eyes out for her and raged on her behalf but Harlow is a Harvest girl and you just can’t keep them down for long. Harlow manages to save herself from her bad situation and ends up finding herself in a cave in the wild with 2 aliens so better maybe? Well you have to read on to see…Sev & Dev have suffered their own trauma and have lived in isolation as self-inflicted punishment, so when Harlow washes up in their life to say they are surprised is an understatement. But here is where Harlow and her mates beautiful story begins. The story of survivors who find and save each other, who bring you back from your nightmares, give you space when needed and are simply there. It’s a story about learning to trust again and realizing that love isn’t exclusive to good, whole people. That love can help fix some of the broken pieces and that it can be your light in the darkness. I know I’m waxing poetic here but I wish I could put into words just how beautiful and wonderful this story was to me. There are lots of great moments throughout the story and it’s so hard not to fall in love with Sev, Dev, Harlow and even Takkar. There are heart wrenching moments, moments of pride, rage, so many aww scenes, hot & steamy scenes, laugh out loud moments and by the end you’re just full of happy tears.

I enjoyed the book immensely. It wasn’t quite what I expected – it was even better. I fell in love with Harlow and her aliens and I hope you all pick this book and give yourself the same opportunity.

Harbouring Harlow – The Forsaken Book 3 – Savage/Knight

This is the third instalment of the dark sci-fi series The Forsaken and we learn more about Harlow – A Harvest girl from Earth who has been prepped from birth to become a mate to an alien Klan.

Harlow’s story is fraught with danger. We learn from the prologue that the Totiv Klan to ultimately become entwined with our FMC were a ‘special unit’ in the war with the Yarek’s. During their ‘tour of duty’ certain events ensued causing their unit to become fractured, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

Decades after our prologue, we start chapter one with Harlow herself, a somewhat shy and emotionally naïve young human female who is taken hostage by an unscrupulous Klan that brutalise her physically, mentally and emotionally. She escapes but is a broken shell of the female she was destined to be had she been treated respectfully and allowed to flourish.

This story is less sexy and more relationship building, not just between the FMC and her intended bond mates, but between the Klan members themselves, who must reunite after decades of self-isolation and torture. That is not to say there are no steamy sex scenes in this book. There are quite a few, but they play a secondary role to the storytelling.

Overall, this was quite a good read and I enjoyed this story arc of the series.

The usual 18+ warnings for sex scenes and blood and gore. Five stars!

Where do I even begin?!

This book here had my heart beating fast numerous times. When Harlow was scared, I felt her fear. I felt her pain. When she was happy, I felt elated. She's such a strong person who's loving and caring. I would like to see this Forsaken series brought onto the screen. Although I'm apprehensive on the detailed looks of all the Klans. I just want an actual image of a green phallus 😳🙊🙈. My imagination could only picture so much... So... If there's ANY chance the Forsaken series is adapted on TV or even into a movie, PLEASE let me be one of the first ones to know! Not to rush amazing works of art, when will the next book come out? It seems like Tatiana's story is next. Or maybe it's Daisy's story that's next 🤔. I have the feeling that her [Daisy] is mated to the kings 😉. Now IF that is accurate, will they have to follow tradition and participate in the Vultana? They supposedly make the rules, so it wouldn't be surprising if they made an exception for themselves. I've leaned to those conclusions since everything about Daisy is hush hush...

So we've had purple aliens, red aliens and now green aliens. I think gold could be next [Daisy]. I also think Tatiana's Klan could be orange. Nothing against brown, but after the yucky klam gryme, that color seems unlikely and unfavorable. IJS.

Lastly, will ANY of the Harvest Girls conceive?

This book absolutely broke my heart, it made me laugh and it made me cry, it was filled with so much heartache, pain, love and laughter.
This was by far my favourite in the series!
I can’t wait for Daisy and Tatiana books.

My heart broke for Takkar and Bakkar, I cried so much , I felt the emotions pouring off the page. (poor Takkar having to spend 50 years watching his dead twin decay into bones. It felt like that was more torture than what the Yarek did to him physically).
I just wanted to reach into the pages and hug them all.

On a side note I really want to pull Kitty out the pages and have a pet just like him haha.

This has to be one of favourite books now, the story is was so so good, I highly highly recommend this book and both authors, this is a must read book for sure but don’t forget to bring the tissues.

Omg I can’t believe it ended like that 😩 now I’m super anxious waiting for the next book haha. Wow what a cliffhanger.

This book was a darker theme compared to Shilohs and Carmens stories. There is something to love with each of these women, and their stories are unique and the characters all different. I think this is so rare and I’m in awe that Katie and Loxley manage it.

Reading what she went through was tough, but her ability to heal was incredible.

I am so sad I that she’ll never have Bakkar in her life, but her connections with her three elons are so powerful and gave her exactly what she needed.

I anticipate that Tatianas story will also be a dark one, but I’m hopeful and excited at the prospect that the doctors will be her mates.

Daisy is definitely holed up with the kings. I do not like them at all so far, but we will see what happens. At least they also have to do the vultana (mentioned in Stealing Shiloh).

This is the 3rd in the series that these two authors have written together and I found it quite enjoyable. This book had a bit of a different feel to it, it had a darker, more deeper emotional feel to it. Harlow has had an extremely difficult time and I felt that the authors expressed that quite well when it came to the overall relationship Harlow has when she finally meets her Klan (that isn't quite a Klan). She isn't the only one within her group that is feeling broken and damaged and I liked how they all learned to lean on each other and build a relationship with each other. I enjoyed the characters and their journey, while faced with terrible odds, they grew as individuals, rebuilding inner strength ,learning to trust, and also as a group . With twists and turns, angst and steam, this was a great read I enjoy this series and I am curious to see who the next story will be about!

Holy crap what a roller coaster!! That ride was crazy, and amazing, wild, and healing all rolled into one. I loved Harlows journey, the beginning was rough to read and a lot of pain and sadness but it was amazing watching Sev and Dev help heal her and in turn she healed them and helped restore there broken and scarred family. This Klan has such fight and determination, it was amazing to read. These stories are great because it sums up each girls journey and meeting her Klan, but they are also all connected as Harvest Sisters and seeing them fighting for each other is a powerful view of family love!! I can't wait for Tatiana and Daisy stories!!!

Good but.....

Good book BUT for a RH I was expecting some multiplayers in the bedroom. Plus it took awhule before any sex was even introduced. I understand based on Harlow's trauma they needed to build a relationship where she feels safe but after the first 2 books I was expecting a little more. And I was a little put out by the fact it was a "private moment" for them to have sex and they didn't want to do it in front of everyone but once they get to their new home Takkar and Harlow have no issue doing it where everyone can see and are cheering for them....um, same thing guys....same thing....

Harboring Harlow

This book definitely does not disappoint.  This story is darker than the first two in the series, couple parts made me sniffle a little.  Can't decide now which is my favorite in the series they're all so good. It has a dark and steamy element but in just the right way. Once I started reading it was so fast-paced and intriguing I was hoping we could not put the book down. To go from such trauma and then work through it all and have a happy ending is awesome. Definitely recommend reading.

If you have

If you have read the first 2 books in this serie forget everything you think you can expect in this book, because you would be wrong.

The start of this one alone will break you. Thats the only spoiler I'll be giving you, you will need tissues and a lot of them. When the worst is over, the story is only getting started, you will fall in love with Harlow and her aliens who are just as she is only bigger and hotter.

Loxley and Katie outdid themselves on this one and can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the next installment

Math doesn't work.

Since I started reading this series I've wondered , when they battle to the death for the forsaken female , how is it that through the years of having these competitions that they haven't run out of warriors ? It seems like they have the events at least a couple times a year resulting in alot of warriors getting slaughtered . Shouldn't they be running out of good warriors to protect the planet ? Anyways ...great book , keeps you very interested . Read it. You'll like it !

Emotional Fun!

I am not sure if we will ever get the last two books of the Harvest sisters. Harlow's story is an emotional rollercoaster due to her captivity. It isnt just a hard journey for her, but one for her future mates and their past tramas. This is a story where four become one and figure out how to heal because of their past. I am curious to see if another it's written and I hope it is. These two authors together built a fantastic world. I would love to see the doctors and kings story...because I have a feeling that is where the remaining two belong.

Third book in the forsaken series

What to say? Wow what an emotional ride, totally totally different to the previous books. I was crying at several parts of this story. The varying degrees of trauma the whole klan goes through is just intense and you feel every emotion. So brilliantly written as ever Katie and Loxley are literally speaking a dream team of writers. Now desperately waiting for the next book

I loved this series and this one is my favorite. It different from the other ether two in that it is darker, but the characters are very different as well. These characters have been through so much trauma and heartache and have managed to save themselves. They deserve so much happiness but aren’t in the right headspace to accept that. They are so strong and it’s wonderful to see them slowly come together and take care of each other. This is an incredible and heartbreaking/heart filling story. A must read.

Another darkly sweet tale. What I really loved about Harboring Harlow is wholeheartedly Harlow. She’s much different from the two Harvest Sisters we have already gotten to know. She’s shy, reserved, and sweet. Harlow’s story begins significantly darker than the other two and had my heart aching not only for her but also her klan. Their stories are deep and dark as they all battle with themselves while trying to find each other. Takkar and Bakkar had me tore up! So sad and sweet, I was crying big fat tears of love.

Eh...

This was pretty dark. Going by the reviews I figured once I got passed the abuse. It would lighten up. Kinda? Last two chapters I was cringing and trying not to vomit. Only reason this story got 3 stars was the happy ending was an end and the authors don't magically disappear the victims abuse. Not gonna lie. Probably won't be reading any more of this series.

This is the 3rd book of this series and I loved it. These 2 authors by themselves are amazing. Put them together and they are phenomenal. This is another must read book. Little darker then the first 2 so little warning. But overall it’s soo good and I want to read more!!! Highly recommend reading this series.

Heartaches Galore!

Trauma victims have such a hard fight. They never really get back to "normal". Harlow and her mates face trauma that no one should have to face. But though they fight the darkness daily, they also know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Not for the faint hearted.

Amazing

I have loved this series from the very beginning. This book is different in that it’s heartbreaking whilst still being full of growth and love. It’s truly a joy to read. It continues adding to the storyline whilst setting up for the next. As always I can’t wait for the next book to see where this will go.

This one was a rollercoaster of emotions and love. I loved the dynamics between Harlow and her mates and how they came together, each having to overcome their internal demons and abuse, but healing with each other in order to have a life they deserve full of love.
