Rate this book
Polarized Love begins with a fun, romantic encounter on the shores of Rottnest Island. An American Navy chaplain meets a feisty Australian journalist investigating the Quokka mystery.

Why are the rare marsupials dying on the Island? Will the handsome American, Lachlan Peters, help Bethany Michaels with her cause or distract her from her mission?

Beth has served her family and father’s church faithfully, and now it’s her turn to leave the nest and spread her wings. But does her dad push her into the arms of the right man to launch his daughter into her God-given destiny?

When an American sailor, Nick DeHann, arrives on the shores of the West Coast of Australia, Beth is swept away with the promise of high aspirations. As the rushed relationship unfolds, Beth finds herself torn between following someone else’s dream or settling for the comfort of home and all she’s ever known.

Lachlan Peters returns to San Diego from his time in the Navy and tries to gain his footing in a life that has passed him by. Will Lachlan realize what he’s missing out on before Beth commits to another man?

Chock-full of romantic comedy, fast-paced action, and inspirational romance, Polarized Love offers a life lesson you won’t soon forget.

It's not every day you get to throw up on a Navy chaplain.
That one moment changes Beth life, even if she doesn't realize it at the time. She and Lachlan are such a cute couple, but their time together is cut short when Lachlan has to return to duty. Watching their relationship through that amusing beginning has the slow-burn romance of timeless love. While Nick sweeps Beth off her feet and leaves her head spinning, Lachlan is the anchor through the storm. A beautiful love story and a great reminder that God believes in second chances, even when we're afraid to believe in them for ourselves.
And you can't forget the Quokkas! Lisa Renee's Australian adventure will have you wishing you could pack your bags and head across the water on your own wild Australian adventure.
A tale of second chances, sweeping romance, and learning to follow God's path, Polarized Love will take you on a romantic adventure that you must not miss.

Umm, those Navy men in uniform are hard to resist!

My title's very misleading, but since I'm very proud of my husband, who was in the US Navy, I couldn't resist.

Beth is a godly woman who loves where she is and what she does. After losing her mother, she helped her busy minister father raise her siblings, and acted as the assistant pastor, much as her mother had. Now that its just she and her dad at home, she realizes that while focusing on everyone else's lives, hers seems to be passing her by. She doesn't regret filling the shoes placed in her path, but the dream of becoming a wife and mother has become distant.

You'll love the story of Bethany, her commitment to so many, and her rather rough love life. I've really enjoyed the well written, godly young woman's story and think you will, too.

The romance between Beth and Lachlan had twists and turns from the very beginning. The plot took several directions I didn't expect. Bravo, Lisa Renee! You kept me guessing until I was beginning to wonder if things would turn out right. And it did!

Full of witty dialogue that keeps the pages turning, the story also has great spiritual depth and tackles hard questions. A wonderful love story that goes deep!

I'm looking forward to Lisa's next read!

I enjoyed this story, and the look at Fremantle and Rottnest Island. I found the development of relationship alarmingly quick. Of course for one relationship that fed into the story. The other, though I thought was a bit quick and didn’t ring true.
Readers should be prepared to enter the world of evangelical church life-something I’m familiar with, but dare say some readers might find it foreign.

Australian Love

When Beth first met Lachlan she was sick all over his shoes. She knew she should avoid American sailors but couldn't resist his kindness. When two years passed without much contact Beth fell for another spiritual seeming sailor. Had she made a mistake following him to America?

I enjoyed this story set in Australia, a place I would love to visit someday! As a reporter, Bethany has a passion to find the cause of the diminishing number of Quokka’s and meets Navy Chaplain Lachlan Peters on the way to the Rottnest Island. A friendship bond forms, but romance is put on hold since Lachlan signed up for two more years of service in the military. He doesn't want to give false hope of a future relationship to Bethany. As much as it breaks both of their hearts, I thought that was a smart move on his part.

I really admire his sense of duty to his career and strong moral values to Bethany. In my mind, everything he says and does is for the good of them both. He's the epiphany of 1 Corinthians 13, or the love chapter. A true gentleman through and through even when he struggles with his humanity. It's not easy to not give in to temptation or do the right thing to honor a beautiful woman such as her. I love the respect he shows.

Bethany was a strong female character. She's all gun-ho for a cause that's near and dear to her heart. Finding why the Quokka—Australian kangaroos—are dying at a rapid rate is her passion in life. I also admire her strong spirit and faith; she's definitely no wilting flower in the story. I like how she stood up for herself at times!

I enjoyed watching this whole story unfold. Lisa Renee also touched on mental issues such as PTSD & Bipolar disorder in the book. Lachlan is a certified counselor in both areas and was a greatly helped many soldiers who deal with this daily. He was full of compassion & understanding, which made him a wonderful Chaplain. I like how the author dealt with these gently, and with enough detail to understand what someone would go through. She brought realism to the story for me.

God is the very center in this book! The author shows how each character naturally lives out His leading in their everyday life with both actions and words. This is what Christian fiction should be in my mind! I read not only for the enjoyment of a story, but more importantly, for the spiritual impact it will have. I like seeing how characters deal with different situations because it helps me in my own walk with God. Lisa Renee delivers in plenty of spades. I so appreciate when an author does this, it keeps me coming back for more! This one is for contemporary readers who also enjoy stories set in a foreign country and plenty of God in the pages.

This contemporary romance will take you across the world and back – elicit laughter, tears, and every emotion in between. It’s a beautiful story of love, faith, and trust.

I fell in love with Lachlan. He was swoony, warm, handsome, heartachingly friendly. I just couldn’t get enough. The fall-in-love-fast story line immediately captured me. I knew, obviously, with the speed in which they were falling, that something was going to keep them apart. What I didn’t expect, was how much my heart would break. How much my emotions would be tested. How much I wanted to throw the book down because I couldn’t stand the thought of them not being together.

This story demonstrates that life sometimes throws you unexpected curve balls. And if we’re not happy with where we are in life, we might just jump on the wrong train going in the wrong direction and miss our destiny completely. I was hooked by the straight-forward, yet sometimes goofy personalities, and the worlds-apart love story.

Renee paints a heartbreaking story with tact, grace, and a unique voice and style. I haven’t read a book that forced so many different emotions through me in a long time.

If you like inspirational romance, this one is a winner. I highly recommend this book!

5 Things from Polarized Love by Lisa Renee
1) When her mom died, Beth stepped into the role of mom for her family and pastor's wife for her church.
2) U.S. Navy chaplain, Lachlan, stops in Australia for the weekend and connects with Beth on a deep level. But with two years left in his commitment with the navy, their relationship can't go anywhere.
3) Quokkas. An adorable Australian marsupial on the brink of extinction.
4)Nick is also in the US Navy and has grand plans of witnessing in Jerusalem
5)He shook his head. He could scold her, but no point taming the Australian Female specimen. They were in a class of their own. Fiesty when they wanted to be.

An epic Australian adventure that is fun and flirty but also deals with serious parts of life such as finding yourself and mental health.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for an honest review.
This book begins on a ferry with Bethany Michaels getting seasick on Lachlan Peters, a U.S. Navy Chaplain who is offering to help. His ship is docked in Fremantle, Australia. There is immediate chemistry between them. However, both are Christians. Since Lachlan has two more years in the navy and will be stationed in America they decide to email each other. Misunderstandings and hurt feelings ensue and some poor choices are made.
This is a beautiful Christian love story showing that when we as imperfect people follow God’s plan we have the life He meant us to have. I was also impressed how Lisa Renee used Lachlan’s background to show how important mental health is to our spiritual health and to create a healthy church. I would definitely recommend this book!

Stick with it, it’s good

Reporter Bethany and Navy chaplain Lachlan meet when she throws up on him. Not the best first impression to make. There’s an attraction but Lachlan has just signed up for another two years and he doesn’t thinks it’s right to have Bethany wait for him, so he puts emotional distance between them.

Bethany feels the distance so she goes on with her life. When she meets Nicholas, she thinks she may have met the man that the Lords has for her. After a whirlwind romance, he proposes. With her father’s blessing Bethany says yes. But there’s something Nicholas hasn’t told her and things spiral out of control. Now Bethany is alone in a strange land – but there is one other person she knows, Lachlan. What can the Lord have in store for them?

Bethany and Lachlan met in an unconventional manner, but an attraction developed quickly between them. However, Lachlan had recently re-upped for two more years in the Navy. They agreed to correspond by email, but that isn’t at all like spending time in each other’s company. I really liked these two mature Christians. They were so realistic and very likable. I enjoyed the bumps in the road of true love and the unexpected things that happened. This book has no sexual situations or bad language. Although the main characters are Christians, the book is not preachy. I highly recommend this book to all those who enjoy clean romances.

A joy to read!

This is the second Lisa Renee book I've read, and I loved it! The story was engaging from the turbulent opening scene right through to the end.

I liked Beth although I got upset with her at times. My hubby heard me exclaim, 'What are you doing, woman?' several times (funnily, his name is Winston!) but was satisfied I was fine, ha ha.

I loved Lachlan from the first moment he graced the pages. Swoony and respectable. I love me a faith-filled man. 😍

The Nick situation challenged me. I won't go into any details for spoilers sake, but he conflicted my heart at times.

A wonderful read! Bravo!

NB I received an ARC of this novel.

My first reaction when I met one of the men was No!!! It is important to know what God has called us to do and not to get burned out doing every "good" thing that comes along. In the same way, it is important for a girl to marry the right guy, even though both of her choices are Christians. Bipolar is something I don't know much about, so I have learned some new things in the process. Very well done!!!

Not enough quokkas! Otherwise, I really liked this book. It's the third book in a series, but it's a stand-alone novel. I haven't read the other two books (yet) and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book one bit, nor did it confuse me with references to things occurring in the first two books. I enjoyed this book so much that I'm now reading the first in the series, "More Than A Second Chance." I received a free ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Polarized Love is an enjoyable read with relatable characters, and an unexpected twist. I loved the intricate interweaving of the characters' lives and the tension the author builds throughout the story. Beth and Lachlan's development in maturity and growth in faith through their experiences inspire the reader with hope that all things work together for the good of those who love Christ. I received an advance copy of this book, and this review is my sincere opinion about this book.

Polarized Love is a great book to read, about something that seems like an impossible love. Two people are very attracted to each other but it is wise to start a relationship. A lot is happening in this book, doubt, distance even another fiancé. But God has a wonderful plan for these two people, a great serving future together. A nice christian book.

Can Captain chaplain Lachlan and Beth meet in Rottnest Island and fall in love in one day? But he can’t stay in Australia due to his work. Then Beth meets Nick and she thinks they are in love and she will follow him to the States to become his wife and spread the word of GoD. Is really Beth’s future with Nick even if she still longs for Lachlan?
