Hearts of Wonderland #1

Alice and the Realm of Monsters

Rate this book
It began with a tarot reading gone awry and an innocent---okay, not so innocent---Halloween party.

The Knight of Cups, the Knight of Swords, the Knight of Wands, the Knight of Pentacles...
Allie was warned they would come for her.

She didn't listen.

And then there was the Moon. That goddess-cursed Moon card destroyed her life---although the visions of the goddess didn't help---and she's still trying to pick up the pieces. Now she has a cat that isn't a cat but IS kind of an a-hole, and four men that she can't control herself around.
Seriously...
Can. Not.

Allie only went along with the madness the reading foretold to get answers about her past.
She thought she was ready to know.

She was wrong.

Darkness has fallen in Wonderland.
There are whispers of a mysterious queen, wielding unmatched power, and of a prophesied witch with the power to set things right.
Allie's knights want to help her find her hidden magic, but first, they all have to survive the assassins the queen has sent for her.
Only one thing is clear... her life is forever changed.

There is no going back.

Thrust into a world of monsters, magic, and mayhem, Allie has to find her way to this Demon Wonderland with the help of her loyal, arrogant, annoying, and PAINFULLY sexy knights. They've been more of a distraction than anything thus far, but she's hoping that changes, because the Cheshire says once we get to their home realm, the picnic of being hunted by supernatural assassins is over.

"This is not kiddie hour, Miss Alice. It’s not a fairytale. There are no second chances and no do-overs. You’re playing for keeps, and every decision is final. Especially your last.”

To set their world right, Allie will have to face more than the queen's assassins.
She'll have to face the Queen of Death and Broken Hearts herself.
She'll have to face the Jabberwock.
And somehow...

She'll have to win.

OMG Amazing

I loved this book, it pulled me in and didn't let go. Allie is a snarky, strong independent FMC, I love how she pushes back when it comes to someone telling her what to do. Her mate's, hat can I say but Dayuum!! They are so smexy and I love Bunny Ears! Really looking forward to reading the next book!

If you are looking for a new series to start, then you need to read this book. I was excited to see that this book is out. So we have Alice aka Allie who is special or very powerfully gifted. Unfortunately she does not know the extent of her gifts. She likes to keep to her herself with very few people in her life. Her life changes in one night. There is mystery, sexy men, magic, and a whole lot more. It gets crazy and hectic. The question is who is Alice and what is she really? What is her purpose and why does she need to be protected. We do get answers as we read along to a few questions but there is still a huge mystery. I cannot wait to see how this series will play out. You will also notice characters from the demon series in this so it is going to get interesting to say the least.

This is a magnificent start to the Hearts of Wonderland series. I absolutely loved this book. Allie is an amazing FMC and the guys are mouthwatering. I love the roles that the characters from the prequel are playing in this book, especially Rab! I do have to admit though, of Allie’s guys, Reed is my favorite. This book is seriously so good that I didn’t want it to end. A Must Read for sure! I cannot wait for the next book!

Oh, well

I could not get into this book. There is a lot of heavy drinking and odd decision-making early on without quite enough world building and character development. I read upward of 700 books a year and it’s always disappointing when a book doesn’t deliver on what seems like a solid premise.

Dnf 56%. This was fine, but I'm feeling impatient for a book that will suck me in and not let go, and this wasn't it for me. The only concrete complaint I have is that everything with the harem is feeling very insta, and there's no real getting to know each other happening, so I'm not really invested.
