I awoke amidst chaos. With no memory or name and no one to trust. I held the key that could bring down a cartel kingpin. If only I could remember. I realized I was a known target to El Segador. “The Reaper.” The Mexican cartel’s deadliest hitman. He toyed with me and bided his time to kill me. But amnesia and an assassin weren’t the end of my problems. I was pregnant. Two men claimed to be the father. And as I started to remember, I questioned the type of men I had let into my body. One of them had an agenda. Despite the other’s current overprotectiveness and caring, my fractured memories revealed a contemptuous asshole. To save myself and my unborn child, I needed to put my faith in one of them. But which one?
Victoria Paige writes smart, edgy, seductive romance.
Her heroes are badass alpha males and her smart, strong-willed heroines can hold their own against a bossy hero. Her books are sexually explicit and may contain dark themes, morally ambiguous choices, and disturbing situations as she injects realism into her stories and gives them her own twist.
Victoria lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and playful German Shepherd Dog, Loki.

I have to say I’m a bit surprised.
As a reader, I tend to get a little cocky…possessive…a little ‘know it all’ about my favourite authors. You think you know all their little tricks. Feel conceited that you’ve read all their books and “know” them. Well, it turns out that Victoria Paige still manages to stump me from time to time.
I started Saving Grace excited to be reading another stimulating (both physically and mentally) story that I was sure would have a strong and determined heroine, meeting her match in an alpha hero. Sure I got it…after a wee while. At first, I was sitting there thinking…*Ummm…is this really Victoria Paige? Am I supposed to fall for this douchewaffle? Is this chick really bed-hopping?* Now, I know that Ms Paige likes to give us original characters each time she writes, but THIS DIFFERENT??? Hmmm…I’ll watch these guys through squinty eyes and see how it all plays out…
Well, I should have stuck with my gut extinct because of course Ms Paige delivered the goods. Sure, we had to climb some obstacles and see a few smack-downs to get to a stage where I was relaxing into the story. I may have wanted to knock a few heads together and put a few characters in the naughty corner, but finally, they knuckled down to save the world.
Saving Grace is packed with murder, mystery and mayhem. Misty Groves is back in the spotlight after biker wars mixed in with drug cartels/gangs/mafia, DEA, CIA and FBI agents all are scrambling. The Reaper has a hit list of people he’s aiming for and no one feels safe. Luckily, the residents of this town know how to protect themselves and look out for each other. Some of the people on the assassin's list are good and some are very, very bad. The problem is NOBODY knows what The Reaper looks like, so you can never see him coming.
While I do enjoy Victoria Paige’s characters and storylines, they are a wee bit OTT. Alpha douchewaffle (who comes good…ish), has a dirty mouth and while I appreciate it once or twice, I thought it seemed a little too much EVERY time he thought or acted on his lust. Things played out a little too systematically that it felt like a checklist was marked off every time there was a fight, growly sex session or baddie who does a very bad thing. It just felt a little predictable at times. Don't get me wrong, I love all of those things, but it was A LOT to take in in one story.
Saving Grace was an adventure from start to finish. While it did take me a little while to warm up to the characters, by the end, I understood and liked them. It was a very, very steamy read that definitely gets the heart pumping. You can almost see when their feelings start to change from lust to love. Misty Grove is full of interesting characters and I can’t wait to see some more stories for the townspeople.
If you enjoy reading about growly, possessive and bossy heroes, falling for their smart, strong and independent heroine’s, Saving Grace may be perfect for you.

Wow, I loved this one so much! I will admit I was worried when I first read the description because it sounded like it would be a bit love triangle-ish. But fret not, it was absolutely perfect with only ONE to die for alpha H.
This is the second book in the Misty Grove series and we see a lot of the previous characters including the 'enhanced' siblings. Grace is a DEA agent who is working on a big case in Misty Grove, she bumps into Matt a lot and eventually their sexual chemistry is too much for them to avoid. Matt our main character was a total asshole in the beginning, I wanted to strangle him for how he treated Grace. He was afraid of his feelings and pushed her away. Grace definitely made him work for it when he realized his mistake which was great.
I loved Matt after he realized his asshole-ish ways needed to end. He was extremely possessive, determined and obsessed with Grace. He was also very jealous particularly with another charater who was interested in Grace...
"You have not seen obsession like mine. If it scares you, it's too fucking late. You're fucking mine."
A great read! Definitely recommend!
ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review!
There's no denying that Victoria Paige can write a damn good romantic suspense book, and Saving Grace is that and done so well. It kept me guessing, took twists and turns I didn't see coming, had a hot, bossy, possessive alpha arsehole that owned his arseholedness (is that even a word??) and a strong, feisty heroine with nary a TSTL move in sight. Add to that the small town feel with side characters that fit so well into the stories and amnesia, one of my favourite tropes, and it makes for a fabulous read.
Matt is an arsehole, no denying it and he owns it and I loved him regardless because there was a good reason for the way he acted. I absolutely love to see a hard head on his knees for his girl ... oh yeah!
This is the 2nd book in the Misty Grove series. (I highly recommend book 1 Fighting Chance). It's been a while, but there's enough background that I was able to refresh my memory. This is a new H & h, that were supporting characters in book one. The POV is first person Grace, then alternates 3rd person Matt. It was done rather seamlessly- I had to go back & check! I usually mention POV in my reviews since it may matter to some readers. I don't usually get too hung up on what POV- 1st or 3rd-if it's done well.
This story takes place in a small town: Misty Grove, GA. The story opens up with Grace-a DEA agent on a case. She's hurt & loses her memory. After I was well into the story, I realized that the story, plot and characters reminded me of a TV show that I watched when I was a kid. Mission Impossible. Well, I guess a little. The opening scene with Grace, reminded me of the M.I. TV theme song & show opening. We just need a lit fuse & the beat of the theme song.
Back to Matt & Grace. They have a past. Matt has his ah ha moment-just as Grace has amnesia. It doesn't help them get a new start. It also doesn't help that Matt is a major asshole. To just about everyone. He seems to get a pass. Matt can't help it. He's just like that. He has his reasons. Except Grace. She calls him out on it. At 31% Matt at his finest: "No, she has to get used to my stupid f-ing mouth saying stupid f-ing things". Grace: "You'll allow it, " I expressed inanely because I was still reeling from his declaration that I should get over it. I was feeling more justified about labeling him Mr Asshole".
I do admit that I really like an asshole H that reforms and grows up by the end of the book. Matt really doesn't stop shooting off his mouth. He does make known to all- that Grace is "mine mine mine". Trouble is, she has at least 2 men that are after her :A biker dude named Troy; and a villain whose identity is unknown until almost the end. The villain is called El Segador- The Reaper.
Grace is very likable. She's focused on getting the bad guy(s) and is clever enough to not fall for the obvious. She is also rather unlucky. She does have several "up close" dealings with the bad guys. Is it ISIS? Drug cartel(s)? The mob? The most worrisome for her- and Matt- The Reaper is fixated on Grace! Grace is described as curvy, beautiful with bright green "gypsy eyes" (Matt's nickname for her). Matt's features aren't as detailed as Grace's. He's tall and athletic- of course. He does work out. There's finally a book that has an explanation for a hero's great body. I did have a little slow part in the middle, but I never stopped feeling like I was kept in suspense. The last 25% picked up the pace quite a bit. The ending was not rushed at all. Really great epilogue. Fantastic HEA. Thanks to Matt and Grace & Matt's siblings for making us all feel safe again. I enjoy this author's writing & this series is enjoyable. It's a loose spin-off from her Guardian's series. Thanks to the author for this ARC. I read a lot of Rom-Com, but I love getting back to Rom-Suspense.
I think Victoria Paige is an amazing author, she smashes it almost everytime with her action filled plots and the beautiful chemistry between her characters, sadly it always comes with an over zealous amount of Other woman/women(OW) and Other Man/Men(OM)drama which takes away from me fully enjoying the book. This book was interesting as it had an amnesiac woman stuck between two alpha men who both claim to have had relations with her, I went in dreading thinking it was a love triangle, but trust me it's not, from the get-go you get a clear picture of the H and the h and that the third character plays a very small part in the love term of the book. I think this could have been a 4 or 5 stars book if it didn't follow the author's usual MO which is a manwhore hero and the usual dose of OW drama(which was comparatively less imo, than her other books but still bothersome). Also the hero was a total ass and a total sexist most of the time, I wanted to slap him so many times, you wouldn't believe. What I did like was the way this book is written, I love VP's way of writing and I am just a sucker of her plots.
Safety gang- Safe with exception also triggers:
I think this might be one of my longest safety spoilers and this is all for you guys, hopefully this can help you.
4.25+ RATING- I stayed up way too late last night reading this book so I'm going to keep this brief.
If you haven't read the first book in the series, go back and read that now. While technically this could work as a stand-alone I don't recommend it. I actually wish I would have gone back and re-read the first book before starting this one. There's a lot that happens in book one and it really sets the framework for this town and the people who live there.
If you did read book one, you can expect a similar read. Good writing, a suspense story line with teeth, and a whole lot of sexiness. For those that like alpha assholes: JACKPOT! Lol. I actually wasn't sure the hero was going to get my seal of approval but I shouldn't have worried at all. When this guy falls, he falls hard. I love a slightly obsessed hero and by the end of the book I was loving this one.
I don't want to give anything away but will say the author didn't hold back when it came to the ending. She definitely didn't fade to black on anything and it made for an exciting read.
Before reading the next book in the series I definitely want to go back and at least skim through book one. There's a lot of potential story lines to come with this bunch of characters and I want to make sure I don't miss anything a long the way!
4.5 stars Sometimes love is a rocky road, but I do relish that particular flavor. I enjoy the intense action and mysteries in Victoria Paige’s plots. You are never quite sure where the story is going or which characters are the bad guys. I always appreciate a good amnesia story too. It adds some tension and emotional impact to the main couple’s love story.
Matt and Grace have a contentious relationship from a past government mission. Matt blamed Grace when things went really bad for him and yet he remains very attracted to her. When she appears again in his town on a job for the DEA, he continues to be an ass even though he tries to seduce her. He won’t listen to her explanation that she was not to blame for his capture and torment on their last mission. After a one night stand, Matt says some really nasty things because he is confused about wanting a woman he thinks betrayed him. Grace foolishly let a mutual attraction lead to hooking up with Matt. Matt panics when he starts to feel something for Grace, spouts his ugly words, and walks out the next morning. Wounded, but not defeated, Grace lets him know she has moved on and Matt is not the only fish in the sea.
While on her current mission, Grace is hurt during a terrorist attack at an Atlanta airport. She has amnesia and can’t remember who she is, her mission, or any of the people trying to help her. Even after Matt realizes that Grace was not responsible for his capture and torture, he still has mixed feelings about committing to her. His history of violence and past disappointments influence much of his confusion. Once Grace is missing and hurt, Matt jumps at the chance to find her and keep her at his side. Grace doesn’t know who to trust when not only Matt, but Troy, another man who was helping on the mission, tries to claim her. On top of that, she is pregnant and doesn’t have a clue whether she was really with both guys or who the baby’s father is.
This dilemma could have been a disaster, but I was confident that the writer would use this plot device to bring out Matt’s better nature and build trust between him and Grace. Having some doubt was character-building for Matt after the way he had treated Grace. He struggles with his deeper feelings for her, but definitely wants to protect her and the baby whether it’s his or not. As Grace's memory comes back in pieces, she learns to trust and rely on Matt. Once Matt realizes Grace is the one for him, he is in all the way and vows to help stop the enemies that are after them.
Matt was a very difficult character to like for the first third of this story. He shoots himself in the foot time and again in his treatment of Grace. But Grace’s spirited and perceptive character in handling her problems and the suspense twists kept me reading. Grace is a good combination of strength, intelligence, and at times vulnerability. She is not a pushover concerning Matt’s bad behavior and demands compromises when he makes unreasonable demands. As she grows close to him again, she gets to know his vulnerabilities and how to handle his anger when he needs control in dangerous situations. I felt that there was a good give and take when Grace needed space or Matt’s comfort and protection.
As the story unfolds, Matt’s realization of his true feelings turned him into the kind of alpha I appreciate with possessive and protective feelings. His willingness to make things right while helping Grace to work through her amnesia won me over. They work together to go after the drug lords that want the information she has on informants and to face the dangerous serial killer obsessed with Grace. Matt’s devotion to Grace deepened my appreciation for how their relationship grew over time. The hot love scenes added the kind of spice I like as well. Sometimes you have to wade through some swampy water to reach the sweet oasis. This story was worth the rocky trip in the beginning that led to a satisfying ending. :) I received an ARC for an honest review.
Dnf after he called her sloppy seconds, a few hours later she is sat in the diner with the new man, Zero storms in pulls her away to the diner office and is bonking her on the desk. Pathetic spineless heroine.
An interesting read. To be honest, I don’t care much about this type of hero anymore. That’s why I drop Alexa Riley’s and the similar type in my reading list this couple of years.
However this heroine is a strong and kickass heroine too, and she give as good as she has got and the hero have to take notice, a lot of notice for what she wants! Lol.
Also, this is not a simple erotica book, the story is very good.
Full disclosure: I am a HUGE fan of Victoria Paige's work and requested an ARC in return for honest review (mostly for selfish reasons as I couldn't wait to read the follow up to "Fighting Chance" the first Misty Grove novel) Despite big expectations this book did NOT disappoint. I have read it twice in the past week (once, quickly - I was gagging to know the story!) and a second time more slowly to better understand the plot, character motivations, back story etc etc. Victoria's books are incredibly well written - fantastic dialogue, great banter and interaction between the characters, well researched plot, palpable chemistry between the H&H. Be prepared - I found Matt hard to like at first, this is the joy of VP's novels...her characters are REAL and sometimes make mistakes. Their motivations and actions become clear and make sense the more that you know them. I loved Matt and Grace's story - yes, he made mistakes but when the chips were down he was THERE for her 100%. Love an alpha sexy dirty talking male. The epilogue was sublime. Having some much loved characters from earlier book was a huge plus (Cassie, Trent, the Admiral) although I will say VP was such a tease mentioning Viktor (from the Guardians series - also brilliant!) but then not having him make an appearance. Overall, this is a 5 star novel. I read ALOT of fiction (long commute, a lot of travel downtime) and VP's writing is some of the best around (other faves: CM Owens / K Bromberg / Jessica Gadziala) Can not WAIT for Colt and Kate's story!!!
I don't know why but I didn't warm up to the couple. They just seemed so angry all the time especially Matt. They had a one night stand and he cruelly pushes her away. I hate the phrase sloppy seconds anyway and his use of it just pissed me off. Then she goes off with another man because he hurt her. Then their is the explosion and she is injured. She has amnesia but whike in the hospital she finds out she's pregnant. But who's the Father? She doesn't know because she doesn't remember if she slept with both of them. Troy, the OM says they did. Matt hates it but he's still claiming her and the baby. He knows he messed up and while he doesn't like it, he accepts it and promises to make her forget the other guy. Its so crazy and not something I like but he was mean to her so who am I to judge. And then he goes home with one of his 'bed buddies' and the h is truly pissed off. So at that point I was pretty sure she didn't sleep with both of them and after the way he claimed her, I didn't think he'd cheat either. But you have to read it to find out for sure. It was worth the read. There is again lots of action, and no lack of bad guys in this book too. They are everywhere. It is just a little exhausting trying to remember all these characters. And who's bad or who's good or where did that guy come from. But it is good. And the hero is totally alpha and so protective of her. I liked that part the most. Even when he was a jerk, you knew he cared for her. She wasn't going anywhere. Lol. And the epilogue was pretty good too. Books with those get a definite star from me. Now on to the next one... Tomorrow. These books are keeping me up at night.
I am pointing myself as an official groupie of Victoria Paige because I love her writing. I have read all of her work and loved every single one of them. I can not wait for more because I know they are going to blow my mind. Saving Grace is a perfect installment to Misty Grove. It is a story of Matt and Grace, but I was hoping that it might be Kate and Colt, because I am dying to read their story. Matt one second I am loving him and next I want to scream at him. He is the perfect alpha with no mouth filter which get him in a lot of trouble. Grace was perfect for him because she refuses to take any crap from him. My favorite part was that the amnesia did not last the whole story but was resolved pretty early. I can’t wait to reread this again. I loved AGS mention in the book and I need more books in that series. That was a subtle hint that I want more books in AGS. Finger crossed that the next book is Colt and Kate.

Saving Grace is the much awaited book in Misty Grove series. I am a huge fan of Victoria Paige's books. Saving Grace is the story of ex CIA agent Matt and the sexy DEA agent Grace where they overcome challenges to fall in love. The hero is an alpha male ,very possessive and a bit of an ass hole :P Heroine is a feisty lady who suffers from amnesia due to trauma in the first half of book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend for fans of Kristen Ashley, Maya Banks, etc. Has an HEA and no cheating!
A thrilling, passionate, danger-filled, suspenseful read…
This is the second book in the Misty Grove series that can be read as a stand-alone.
We go back to the town of Misty Grove, Georgia, the place where ex-assassins and their like reside for another thrilling story. I do love it when the opening scenes of a book are so intriguing and action filled that from that moment forward my attention is enrapt around the unfolding storyline, this I’ve come to count on from a Victoria Paige book and this one did not disappoint me.
Matthew Foster is an enhanced soldier past his prime yet still quite deadly. He’s always lusted after the gorgeous sexy DEA agent who was his handler on a mission years ago. He also hated her for a long time, believing her actions led to his capture and torture. Years passed before he learned the truth. Now that she’s in his town for an undercover assignment he’ll sate the intense sexual attraction between them and get her out of his system once and for all but once turns out not to be enough and the combative relationship they have sends her into the arms of another which he can’t abide. Before he’s able to rectify the situation she’s caught in a terrorist explosion.
One night with the incredibly sexy man she’s wanted for years that was more satisfying than any DEA Agent Grace Levinson’s ever known turned into a disastrous morning after when she merely suggested they spend the weekend together. You’d think she was asking for a serious commitment instead of just continuing their sexual enjoyment. What did she expect of the arrogant man who’s been a thorn in her side for years? He refused all contact when she tried to tell him she didn’t betray him, she regretted his capture and wanted to explain what happened as she saw it. Seeing him after their memorable night of passion set off her temper with his typical abhorrent behavior and she flaunted another man in his face. She’s happy that she’s leaving town but fate though, has other plans for the both of them.
The protagonists act like enemies with combustible magnetism and stubborn dynamics, the extreme lust/hate relationship keeps things exciting and captivates the reader. Both give as good as they get making the banter quite enjoyable, the sparring repartee is downright fiery. You know they have to figure things out but how will it play out is the question. Beneath all the push and pull there are deep emotions growing that neither expected and they are unsure how to deal with. From the book’s blurb we are told that there’s an obsessive assassin, amnesia and a pregnancy with the sire to be determined to heighten the interpersonal mix and threaten more than their own lives. What more could a romantic suspense lover want? I loved this read and look forward to more in this series. The fast moving action and suspense storyline had me transfixed, constantly wondering how it would end and gasping at the twists thrown in. As a result of the amnesia we’re given flashbacks as Grace’s memories return, her quandary is so understandable. Who do you trust when you don’t remember but what you do is conflicting? Perhaps the one who fights to be by your side no matter how difficult he can be.
An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.
I loved this novel! It grabbed me from the first page and just would not let go until the final page. I loved the story. I love the way this author writes dialogue and banter. Sooo good! I can't wait to see what this author will write next but I know I will want to read it.
Grace and Matt. This is a well written book. The story is told partly in flashbacks as Grace has lost her memory and we see glimpses of the past as she recalls certain memories. This is very well done. The story is fast paced and quite exciting but I have to say I really disliked Matt. Matt and Grace work together on a mission but he ends up in trouble (no details not to spoil too much) and he blames Grace. You can understand why he does this as some information is classified as he does not understand all that went on BUT Grace isn't to blame and when things get cleared up he is still not nice to her. I was a bit confused about how he felt about her, at times he said the old 'mine' and other times he pushed her away. I disliked that about him, I prefer it when the heroes know what they want and go for it. I don't like the hot and cold story-lines. Once he does decide he's all in and although he still has Alpha, OTT behaviour issues he does genuinely care for her. That said the book is well written, an interesting plot, lots of extra characters for more books.
I hadn't planned on starting this today and I certainly didn't think I'd finish it in one day either. I'm trying to pack for a trip! lol In all honesty, VP's books often go over my head. I am not espionage. I am love and life stories. I don't know a lot about clandestine organizations and governmental agencies. That's not to say, I don't like having that as part of my story. It's just for myself, less is more. Unlike a lot of readers who love to be part of that world and keep up just fine, I tend to get lost.
So that brings us to Saving Grace. I truly enjoyed this book. This one was a perfect amount of intrigue and excitement for me. I was invested from start to finish. I loved Matt and Grace, how they interacted and their love story. One thing I am guaranteed with every VP book, growly alphas and strong female leads. This time was no different. Hands down the best VP book I've read to date.
This was my first Victoria Paige book and wow what an awesome book to start with! Feisty heroine and a possessive alpha hero who is a bit of an asshole - My kind of book! Now I'm going to go on a Victoria Paige binge read I think 😁
Wow! This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! It was like a rollercoaster I couldn't get off of. I love the banter between Matt and Grace in the beginning of the book and cried with what Grace was put through. I need to find the first book now and then re-read this one! This was my first book that I've read by Victoria Paige, I will definitely be looking forward to reading more of her books!!
Grace Levinson is a feisty DEA agent who has had a complicated "relationship" with Matt Foster. Yet when Matt says some cruel things to her she finds herself in the arms of Troy deLamar, the leader of Flaming Bricks MC.
Matt Foster has had feelings for Grace for a long time but unfortunately when he speaks the wrong thing comes out every time. He knows he wants her but has trouble admitting the truth.
When there is an explosion at the Atlanta airport when Grace is there, she ends up drugged and kidnapped. Who is after Grace and can Matt get her back? When Grace suffers from amnesia will Matt keep her or will he be forced to let Troy take care of her?
This is another exciting book in the series!
I really liked Grace and I did understand why she had enough of Matt's behavior to decide that she was done with him. I wasn't too sure what her intentions were with Troy but I was curious to find out if it was attraction or her job.
Matt was such a jerk but at the same time I knew he legitimately had feelings for her and I wasn't too sure how much of his past caused his inability to communicate with Grace the way he wanted to. I did love how protective Matt was over Grace.
The explosion definitely threw everything for a curve ball and then the amnesia and I was excited to see how everything went down and I definitely wasn't disappointed with everything!
There were so many ties with the previous book in certain ways and I loved the mystery surrounding El Segador and who he was really working for. The stuff with the cartel was intriguing and I loved the action it created.
I was worried about Grace's safety especially when certain things happened. I was surprised about what happened with Kyra and her attack on Grace.
There were so many surprises with how things went down and it was full of action!
The end was awesome and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Saving Grace is a book filled with plots and twists. Once I got into the book it was hard to put it down.
Matt is obsessed with Grace and will do anything in his power to protect her. Once he finds out she is pregnant with his child he is over the moon and decides to make her his. Poor Matt looses his mind when Grace is kidnapped and fears that she could be dead and he is not there to save her. But as love has it Grace is found and saved by the love crazed Matt.
I loved the book and will try to read more of Victoria Paiges book. Just sorry I did not get to read the fist book in this series. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a new author.
Even though I really liked the first book in Victoria Paige’s Misty Grove series, I don’t remember it very well. For most books, I remember a “feeling” I had while reading the book or very general plot points. Unless a book super crazy good, character names, specifics of a paranormal world or the dark moment elude me. Most of the time while reading a series that is all fine and dandy. I struggled with Saving Grace though. For most of the book, I felt like I was just unceremoniously dropped back into a world that was a bit hazy. Even before Grace has amnesia, I couldn’t find my footing. Almost all of the memory inducing world-building, backstory and characters of Misty Grove reappeared eventually in Saving Grace, but they popped up at strange points in time and in an odd order. I struggle with books in a series that infodump to get readers back on track, but this felt like the opposite extreme. For that reason alone, I’m going to say this book isn’t a stand-alone and should not be read without rereading Fighting Chance or at least checking in on the Goodreads page for it.
The plot and hero of his books also gave me some trouble. Paige can write a romantic suspense with the best of them, but I wasn’t in love with Matt and that made the plot painful slow at times. Matt was 100% an alphahole and although Grace mellowed him at times, his arrogance didn’t keep me entertained.
There was lots of good stuff in Saving Grace too though! Accidental pregnancy is one of my very favorite tropes so I was totally on board with that aspect of this plot. As well, I love that this book really embraced the bad*ss heroine. Grace doubts herself momentarily while having amnesia but then she’s up and running again kicking butt and taking names. As well, Grace and Matt certainly had some sexy scenes together (and the sex was plentiful).
Even though most of this book wasn’t my cup of tea, I still like the general idea behind the Misty Grove series. The town and the characters have enormous potential; Grace and Matt just weren’t for me. 3 stars for Saving Grace by Victoria Paige.
A copy of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This review was originally published at Straight Shooin' Book Reviews.
The plot was great i always enjoy victoria's side plots whether it's mafia or the soldier ones if i can rate it based on that alone it'd be 5/5 Grace was amazing as always i love her fmc , grace was the epitome of a strong fmc again if i can rate the book solely on her it's be 5/5
Matt unfortunately fell short , he has way too much anger issues and 0 regard to other people's feelings , he says alot of hurtful crap and expects everyone especially grace to just take it , if i was having a baby with a man so prone to violence and hurtung others i'd be running the other way not marrying him but ig it was needed for the sake of the plot. And the fact that he had 0 character developpement makes it even worst, he was still yelling at grace and forcing her to obey him up untill she was kidnapped
He was saying he wanted more from grace and not wanting her to talk to troy on her own because he was jealous , but had no problem driving his ex hook up who know is obsessed with him home, hypocrisy and double standards at its finest
Honestly Grace should have picked troy he's charming and smart
Extra-alpha Matt Foster, info seeking alpha biker Troy deLamar, DEA honcho Elliot Holden and notoriously, legendary go-to Mexican cartel hitman, the Reaper’ all want amnesia victim DEA agent Grace Levinson. Though commitment-phobe Matt’s the only one that doesn’t want what’s lost in Grace’s brain, his lack of mouth filter makes him verbally abusive, sending her to Troy who enjoys poking Matt and could factor in why he wants Grace. Meanwhile, her boss Elliot seems anxious to get Grace on his turf and she’s become more than a job to the Reaper.
Matt realizes his anger at Grace was misplaced and Grace fumbles figuring out her life, especially her sexual mores after finding out she’s pregnant. To my taste, this outing doesn’t do well as a stand-alone. Reasons for Matt’s a-holeness are given but they don’t translate well without the details of what that means for this series, leaving the reader floundering (or recalling) for almost half the read. So not a good look for the leads. Rating: 3.5stars
I liked how this book brought in Grace who has dealt with the enhanced soldiers in the past and has even been attracted to Matthew but he always ends up being a douche bag to her and after they finally hook up he walks out on her. Little does he know she then goes to hang out with guy he hates and has had previous dealings with during their missions then leaves town before he can work out himself and tell her how he really feels. Next thing Grace is caught up in an explosion and has amnesia, she doesn't know what happened nor who to trust and while trying to piece things together she has to alpha males vying for her to be with them. This leads us on a great read of cat n mouse, double crossing, trust issues a roller coaster of emotions and hormones to try and work out what happened and who the Reaper is and if they can get to him before it is too late.
This book is so action packed! It kept my attention from beginning to end. I liked how we got both Povs even though I'm not normally big on characters talking in 3rd person but it worked with Matt. We learn so much from him. Matt is demanding, take charge and very protective of Grace. He just tells her what to do and she gets so mad at her. These two are seriously perfect for each other! Grace is killer! She is head strong, feisty and knows exactly what to do. She knows she has a psycho wanting her and will do whatever necessary to protect herself. She has 2 overprotective guys who are doing the same thing. I gotta say I loved how they made each other jealous and fight over Grace. This book was great and I can't wait to read Colt and Kate's story next!
