This book is the FULL VERSION of the BLOOD trilogy and a dark erotic thriller.

I loved a book it is different from what I have read before.
Did I like this book: Yes?
Did I love this book: Yes?
This book will pull you in and keep you turning the pages till the very last page it keeps you on the edge of your seat wonder if and how it is going to all end.
The story is of Charlotte when her parents died her life changed forever. Everything she does there is a reason why she does it. We get to be inside the mind of s serial killer and she is trying rid the world of all the bad people...

Then we have Matthew the detective. He believes the same person is committing all the murders. He does not know whom yet but is slowly putting pieces of the puzzle together he does not suspect Charlotte. At the same time, Matthew is dealing with demons of his own from his past. Some very hot scenes between Matt and Charlotte. I liked both these characters.

What will happen when these two meet for the first time?
The story is told from both Charlottes and Matthews POV we get the full story of how and why Charlotte does what she does. Will Matt figure out who the serial killer is and what will happen when he does find out it is the women he is in love with? Only time will tell. This book is well written. I really cannot say much more than this as I do not want to spoil it for others but give this book a try it is well worth it.

I can't wait for more. even though this one can be read as a standalone.

For the past ten years, Charlotte O’Callaghan processed the death of her parents in her own way, by becoming a vigilante serial killer. An heiress and gallerist, Charlotte managed to keep her side activities secret, but when Detective Matthew Craig enters her life, she wants more and it all changes.

“He holds the same look I have when looking at myself in the morning. He is like me. That’s the realization that wipes my mind clean.”

The story begins with Charlotte’s perspective allowing for development to create empathy for her loss and the need to keep her secret hidden. Interestingly, Matt brings his own pain and it molded him into being a cop and seeking justice. Together, Charlotte and Matt have instant chemistry and this creates complications and tension in the plot.

“My rules are simple. Never break or change the rules.”

Due to dual POVs within chapters, these quick shifts add to the buildup of whether Charlotte is going to be discovered. Having the female protagonist as a serial killer is unique and I was curious to see what Charlotte’s choices would be. As for Matt, I liked him as well, but I was equally mad at him at times. The relationship between Charlotte and Anderson is heartfelt and my favorite element.

Blood is a dark thriller about avenging loss and second chances. This would appeal to those seeking an investigative with romance.

Oh wow!!! I am usually not the sentimental type but I am not going to lie....

I cried.

Even though I knew how it was going to end early on. Blame my twisted mind. I still cried. Because I got THAT close to these characters. Because I didn't want it to be true. Because I couldn't see another way out either. Because I didn't want the book to end. Because I am impatient and don't want to wait for the other two parts of the trilogy.

You can probably tell I got completely sucked in to the story. Everything made sense. It all flowed seamlessly together. It was outstanding.

And on top of all of that, it was seriously hot!! The tension and attraction between Matthew and Charlotte is off the charts. No pussyfooting about and they find the tender in the rough. I love it. I want more. Five stars? Done. Recommend? FUCK YEAH!

This book kept me right on the edge, swiping the pages furiously, long into the night. I did not want to put this book down! The plot was suspenseful, twisty, taut with sexual tension, cleverly-chilling and simply enthralling. The characters were complex, multi-faceted, sexy, full of depth and written so vividly, that they easily came to life and seemed to step off of the pages.

I enjoyed this book SO much that I audibly wailed, "Noooooo!", when I swiped the last page, and there was no more left to read. I can hardly wait for the next one in the series to be available!

Blood must be the best work of D.S. Wrights so far.

This concluded novel is perfectly balances the thriller, romance, and erotic scenes, composing a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You'll be worrying your mind how these star-crossed lovers could or should end up with a happy ending, and whether justice or vengance is the right path.
The conclusion isn't really coming from the left field and is forseeable if you are reading the story attentively. Still, it strikes your heart.

D.S. Wrights has outdone herself with this one.

Matt and Charlotte's story is full of tragedy but also contains lust and hope.
The detective and the serial killer make an odd couple, the opposite in extremes. The book keeps the reader riveted until the last page.
DS Wrights writing is elegant and flows beautifully. She writes about love, loss, and heart ache with a wonderful use of words and uses her characters flaws and idiosyncrasies to the extreme.
I highly recommend this book!

I love dark thrillers! This one keeps you at the edge of your seat. Blood is the perfect title for this book because it describes so much with the killer. Charlotte is a rich normal teenager until tragic happens and then she’s barley living until her sixteen birthday party where her life changes even more. Matthew is a detective and is determined to find the serial killer who no one wants to believe is out there. Charlottes and Mathews worlds collide. Is it fate that there brought together? Oh this book is so intense.. Is it bad I was actually routing for the killer? I can’t wait to read the next book! 5/5 stars

"The peace of knowing that the ones who've ruined their lives are dead."
"It must be a blood curse."
Detective Matthew Craig has taken it upon himself to find the serial killer, even though others in his department don't believe the killer exists. He is thorough and persistent. A lead brings him to Charlotte O'Callaghan's gallery, and to an overwhelming attraction to the cursed princess.

Charlotte has suffered in her short life, losing both her parents in a mysterious crash. She is meticulous and artistic. She is protective and craves to protect those who can not protect themselves.

The chemistry is off the charts, Matt and Charlotte are... you need to read this book to discover their relationship and how it all turns out.

Loved this book so much, it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through, such a unique story and so cleverly written. A story of heartbreak, loss, regrets, and sweet sweet revenge.

Charlotte's parents died when she was a teenager and it has had a major impact on her life. This lady is on a mission, she has a reason for everything and everything has it's reason. We get to be inside Charlotte head as we take this sometimes sad, brutal journey with her. At first I was cheering her on and then I thought damn, what a tragic shame - I really felt for her. I liked Charlotte a lot and this lady had some serious balls and issues to sort.
Enter Matthew Craig a detective looking into a series of brutal murders; all different but Matt has this feeling that they are all being committed by the same person, he thinks a serial killer is on loose and he means to get to the bottom of these gruesome acts before the next murder happens.

When Charlotte and Matt first meet at her gallery there is an instant connection between them, a sexual tension you could feel glowing from the page and this only intensified as the story progressed. I loved Matt as well, so dedicated to finding the killer and so attracted to Charlotte with some seriously steamy moments between them.

Honestly this book was amazing. Full of angst, blood and gore, twist and turns and yet there in the background there was a sadness, a desperation and love.
I can't recommend this book enough, an awesome read !!!!

Charlotte is a brilliant serial killer who only kills those who deserve it. After losing her parents, her father’s best friend and bodyguard, Anderson, becomes her guardian and mentor.
Anderson teaches her everything he knows and now twice a year Charlotte quenches her throat for blood and justice.
Matt is the homicide detective investigating the serial killer, and when he meets Charlotte it’s practically love at first sight for both of them.
Charlotte knows that it’s dangerous to get involved with Matt but she cannot stop, but Matt is getting closer and closer to the truth.
Will Matt understand?
Will Charlotte let him find out everything?
It’s a brilliant and entertaining story.
I’m dying to read the next book of this couple and see how their story continues.

Not bad

I will admit that it took me a little bit to get into this style of writing. The 2 pov's... The storyline was great and the characters are well developed. It has an ending that you definitely don't see coming!
A good suspenseful and sexy read.

A brilliantly written story of love loss and possibly regret.
Loving parents taken too soon. Leading to a loss that escalated to revenge. Taken out on people who have caused pain and hurt.
This story will touch you. You will want Charlotte to be ok.
Will Matthew understand? Will his past and job cause a devide to far.
Will I get a happy ending? I don't know. I just know I will get the roller-coaster of a read.

This is the first book I have read by this author-I actually grabbed Paint before I realised I needed to read Blood first. What first struck me about this book: the way the author does her dual POV—almost like there’s a short recap of the previous scene from the opposing character’s POV before the story moves forward. From the first page, you see Charlotte identify herself as a serial killer. I appreciated that the backstory was told upfront, which made it easier to understand & focus on the characters. Matthew, a detective looking at the serial killer that no one else thinks exists, is drawn to Charlotte. Charlotte is drawn to Matthew too, so one character is searching for justice, the other, revenge. It’s a really engaging story, fraught with tension in places. Hard to know who to cheer for but right now, Anderson is one person I need to know more about! Looking forward to Paint.

This was my first time reading this author and I will read more. I liked this book, the writing was done well and the characters were great. For me though the story was kind of dragging a bit in the middle. Starts out great and picks up towards the end.

I was hesitant to read his book. It is way different
then the books I usually read. But something about the
cover and the blurb got my attention and I decided to try it.
I found it amazing the emotion the seriousness and the depth
of this book just drew me in. I could not put it down.
Indeed, it was different for me. but I have to say I really enjoyed it.
It is a book that really made me stop and think about things.
To ponder the effect of grief which I have faced often in my life.
This is a deep moving experience and I highly recommend it.

In diesem Buch gilt.

Interesting 4 ½ stars. - There is not a lot of dialogue but for some reason the narrative isn't boring. It definitely has a plot that makes you wonder what’s going to happen. It is very different from other romance/mystery stories I’ve read. The author wanted the reader to sympathize with Charlotte but she’s such a different kind of heroine. Yet, you still want her to have her HEA with Matthew. It’s an intriguing book. It’s not the end of Charlotte and Matthew’s story though. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

I DNFed at 80%. I was just so bored that I couldn’t even ride out the last bit. I felt like nothing happened. It was just the same inner monologues over and over, and I actively didn’t care about Charlotte getting caught anymore. The writing was also really stiff.

BUCHTITEL: BLOOD: Gefährliches Verlangen
AUTORIN: D.S. Wrights
VERLAG: BoD
ISBN: 9783751970112
SEITENZAHL PRINT: 396
REIHE: BLOOD
BAND: 1 von 2

KLAPPENTEXT:

Kommt Mattew hinter Charlottes Geheimnis?

The Wire in the Blood, indeed

A cat and mouse game between police and prey is the perfect example of how dual point of view should work and in this case, DS Wrights nails it. Everything that failed in Grantham Global is what makes this book a success! It is a smart, dark, sexy, and enjoyable ride.

Charlotte is unabashedly a serial killer. Neither the author nor Charlotte make any pretense about her behavior or what drives her to Kill. Matthew is a dogged detective who sees a pattern in the crimes. When their paths cross, they find in the other something elusive that fills the darkness within them. The problem is that Charlotte can't undo the past and Matthew can't ignore murder. Although you see the ending coming almost from the start, you enjoy getting to the end to see if you are right. As a reader, you won't condone what charlotte does, because honestly, at the heart of it, there is no reason for it other than that she enjoys her work. However the author does such a great job of humanizing Charlotte that you want things between Matthew and Charlotte to somehow work, despite the odds. Matthew is a bit of a forest for the trees type, yet you are rooting for him to catch her as much as not. The author maintains a delicate balance of justice and redemption throughout the book that a serious need for proofreading (the incorrect tenses can be hugely annoying) can't mar. Overall this is a great read and shows me what the author can really do. I find myself being pulled in again so that I will read more of her work.

For the first time, I catch myself wishing that I could really talk to my shrink about my feelings. Too bad there is no Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the real world because he would probably be the only one suited to be my therapist.

I read Book 2 (Paint) first so I knew parts of the story but it was still extremely satisfying and enjoyable to get to know Matt and Charlotte before the tragedy of the arrest. They were very cute....and wicked sharp and just as intense. 😏🖤Just like Charlotte, I was very impressed with Matt's spot-on instincts and terrifyingly accurate observations. It was obvious through the pages that he was an amazing cop.

What I loved even more was the story of Eddie and how Charlotte's kills started. And her routine and rules. It was disturbingly arousing and made me admire her. This book also had the dark humour and apathetic aura around the subject of vengeance when Charlotte's POV was shown...just like the second book.....and I loved it just as much.

I'll recommend both these books to everyone who wants a glimpse into the gravity of a romantic relationship between a serial killer and a cop.

P.S- I really really hope the author writes a sequel to "Paint" cuz I am dying without the knowledge of what happens next. 🖤🖤

WOW! This is different from what I normally read and I have to say I loved it!!! I don’t want to give anything away, but I could not put this book down. I kept wondering how this was all going to end – would she be found out? What would it do to their relationship?

Charlotte was a teenager when her parents were killed and her murderers never found. She was so distraught that she fought against everything and became a little rebel. She saw no sense in anything until she made her first kill. She felt like she got justice. Matthew is a homicide detective who lost his sister to suicide after she was raped. Her rapist was never found and therefore Matt decided to become a police officer. Charlotte and Matthew see a lot of themselves in the other. They have a bond unlike any other and both instantly feel it.

Great story with great characters. I cannot wait for the next book to come out in this series as I would like to see what happens after the big reveal! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through Booksprout ARC’s for an honest review.
