Scratch-off

Rate this book
The school year has ended and four middle-school teachers from Arkansas are brooding about their less-than-exciting summer plans. Janet, Fran, Sue Ellen, and Aimee - diverse in age, background, and temperament - all share the concern that life is passing them by. Then Janet wins big on a scratch-off lottery ticket and decides to treat herself and her friends to a well-deserved vacation. With high hopes for adventure and a taste of the good life, the foursome boards a grand cruise ship headed to the Caribbean, and a whirlwind week unfurls. In comical discord, they do their best to navigate the ship and keep up with the action. Fran and Sue Ellen make a drunken handshake deal, Janet gets a makeover, and Captain’s Night turns into a fiasco. Aimee spills her secrets, a shore excursion goes off course, and an evening of karaoke proves empowering. By week’s end, the ocean air is crackling with romance, the women having learned more about themselves than they could have ever imagined. And while not all is well in their world, they return to port triumphant and forever changed by a fierce sisterhood that will see them through anything.

My friend Joan recommended this book as a fun read that left you feeling good. She was right. No heavy lifting, just pure entertainment! After reading this I wanted to read more by the author so have just finished "Lucky Old Coot". Also a good read. Recommend them both.
