As the oldest alpha in the pack, wolf shifter Dax has a big responsibility. He hunts and provides food for his family, including his brand-new niece and nephew. Though Dax wants a mate and children of his own, he hasn’t met another wolf shifter to fall head over heels with and he’s starting to give up hope.
But when a hunt goes wrong, Dax suddenly finds himself staring into the eyes of his fated mate—and it’s the deer he’s been chasing.
An omega with a big rack… of antlers.
Morgan the omega deer shifter has always been a misfit in his herd. As an older omega, his antlers are large and majestic—and bigger than any alpha’s. Tired of being outshone by him, the alphas lead Morgan into a trap to get rid of him once and for all—right into the path of a hunting wolf.
But Morgan is no pushover. When he turns to fight his attacker, something odd happens. The wolf named Dax not only stops his chase, but warmly welcomes Morgan into his pack.
What the buck? Prey and predator can’t live together, and they especially can’t be fated mates… Can they?
Fated: Wolf and the Buck is a 46,000 word book with plenty of fluffy and steamy scenes, mpreg, low angst, no cliffhangers and a HEA as usual! It is the second in the Pack of Brothers series and best read in order.
Hawke is a M/M author who loves the world of MPREG and shifters. In his spare time he enjoys hiking with his dog, hanging out with his boyfriend, and playing video games.
Nothing really wrong with it. Just not feeling the romance, it seems a bit formulaic and expected after reading the last book. I'm also having trouble sensing the difference between the alpha and omega in this relationship.
Lastly, one of my personal pet peeves: a villainous character from the last book is brought back and "redeemed". Sorry, but you try to eat sentient shifters in their smaller animal form and I'm not letting that go, ever.
I am in love with this series! This is a continuation of the first book. Please take the time to read it. I guarantee you will love it as much as I did. The characters are so real, the world is vibrant and alive. You will be pulled in from the first pages and not want to leave. This episode follows Dax, the oldest wolf brother, and Morgan, an omega deer with huge antlers cast out from his herd. As their relationship grows, their unique pack continues to grow. And a certain red fox finally gains the acceptance he so desperately needs. Ooh, and another baby makes an appearance. When an old enemy causes trouble, the pack will come together to save the day. I have my suspicions about who will be featured in the next book. I can't wait to see if I'm right. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Book 2 of the Pack of Brothers series. Sweet, fluffy, shifter fated mate interspecies pairings.
Alpha wolf shifter Dax is a bit jealous his younger brother Hugo was the first to find his fated mate. He's hunting in a remote part of the woods when a big buck literally runs right toward him. He finds out a bit late this is his fated mate omega deer Morgan. Now he needs to earn Morgan's trust, before he can even convince the omega they're fated mates. Don't worry. That doesn't take too terribly long.
Another solid 3. No outrageous typos, spelling errors or weird incongruous POV changes.
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the kids' series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or 'Liberty' from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times a year (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok). It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
Now I used to this author's style and the dynamics of their pack family. I eagerly awaited the next Wolf shifter Pack of Brothers story. I was not disappointed. The new Omega in this book was too masculine for his herd of deer. No Alpha wanted him. The other Omegas didn't even want him around especially when they had fawns. He was miserable and full of longing to be mated, but even more so to raise and nurture a fawn. How was it possible to live surrounded by many dear but feel so alone?
Literally pushed into the jaws of death the Omega buck was actually shoved at his fated Wolf mate. It was so much fun watching them figure out their relationship. The big tough Alpha Wolf leader of his pack and the huge majestic Omega buck with the spectacular 12-tine set of antlers. Predator and prey yet evenly matched and with a very strong mutual attraction pulling them together
It was great to revisit the mixed species pack. To get updates on its members and their reaction to the eldest Brothers new mate. This story brought new information about the past and a dangerous situation led to a re-evaluation of who might be welcomed into the pack.
I really look forward to reading the next book in the series I feel invested in these shifter characters.
Morgan has always felt like an outsider in his own herd always shunned by the alphas because of their own insecurities. When the alphas turn against him and chase him out of the herd Morgan fears for his life but what he finds is a wolf coming to his aid. Dax is nothing like what Morgan expected and he cannot imagine that what Dax tells him is true. Can he really find happiness with a wolf and his pack?
Morgan and Dax’s story is a sweet story about never giving up on your dreams. The two may be predator and prey but that does not stand a chance against love and fate. Both men have strong personalities, yet this does not stop them only help them. Dax is not looking for a scared and simple omega he want someone to stand at his side, someone to be his equal. Morgan holds his own and finds his heart opening up to Dax and his heart. He learns so much from this little pack. Trust, acceptance, and love are new to him and he does not want to give them up. I enjoyed watching Morgan and Dax find their way to happiness and seeing the rest of the pack embrace Morgan made for a nice read. As it grows bigger, I am excited to see what will happen next to this pack.
This is a great addition to the series! I felt really bad for Morgan with how his herd treated him. He just wanted a mate and a family of his own but because he had larger rack of antlers than the alpha deer nobody will have him and due to their jealousy they force him from the pack and he almost gets killed by a wolf. Dax is a wolf shifter. He's looking for his fated mate and ends up finding him while hunting for a deer to kill to feed his niece. He doesn't realize at first that the deer is a shifter, who ends up being his fated mate. I loved that Morgan and Dax are about the same age and that Morgan is the more dominant in their relationship, even though he is the omega. I will definitely be reading the first book in the series next. I read this book using the Kindle Unlimited program.
Dax , a wolf, is the eldest Alpha in a pack of misfit shifters. Along with his two brothers, Hugo and Sage, Hugo's omega hare mate, their twins, and Remington, the omega wolf they adopted, life is pretty good on their new home. When a solitary hunt takes an unexpected turn, Dax finds this fated mate in Morgan, an omega buck. But an old wiley friend and a jealous herd member tests the bonds of family and mates, and Dax and Morgan have to lean on each other and their pack to protect their new son. I really, really like this series and I'm excited to read the next book. There's great world building and character development and lots of action, fluffy and heat! One of the best series with shifters I've found in a long time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dax and Morgan’s story brings a fun dynamic to the series with a strong, steadfast alpha wolf meeting his match in a sassy, determined omega deer. Dax’s longing for a family of his own and Morgan’s defiance of being cast aside by his herd create an emotional core that feels both relatable and heartfelt. Their initial meeting—during a hunt no less!—sets the stage for a surprisingly tender bond. Morgan’s mix of strength and vulnerability makes him a standout, and watching Dax fall for him is a delight. Their journey to trust and love is filled with humor, warmth, and a sense of belonging.
This is the second book in the series and focuses on Dax and Morgan. I enjoyed this book more than the first one; the characters pulled me in more.
I liked Morgan; he wasn’t a typical omega. He was fierce and lethal when he needed to be yet caring and nurturing with the pack. The sadness and yearning in his eyes in the beginning was evident.
A pack of misfits is getting bigger and a certain new pack member, was an interesting yet surprising addition. Great addition to the series!
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
This was such a cute and very pleasurable read. Morgan was a deer who was chased into a wolf (by his own herd) who just happened to be his mate. The writing was excellent and the characters were so precious and formed a beautiful pack and family of their own. I was so happy that Red was accepted into their pack. I'm truly looking forward to reading about who finds their mate next. Heartwarming story.
This one was even more insta lovey than the last one. Like, I think they mated after less than 24-hours of knowing each other (from what I can tell from the text). That being said, this was cute for Dax and Morgan. I think the whole conflict with Rock at the end was unnecessary and underwhelming, but overall the book was fine. Idk if I'm going to continue with this series, but the only character I'm even mildly interested in is Red, so who knows.
Fated: Wolf and the Buck by Hawke Oakley is the second book in the Pack of Brothers series. Sweet with a bit of heat, the story of these shifters finding fated love, acceptance and family make my heart warm. Not a whole lot of angst, just a bit of it... but a whole lot of love and fluff. I am enjoying this new series.
I really enjoyed this one and was able to connect with Morgan. I liked Fax as an over protective mate, but was glad that he was able to pull back on it some and heat Morgan out on the issue of Red joining the pack. The book even had a little humor in it which I liked as well. I can't wait to see who finds their fated mate next.
Love this series. The storyline is so sweet and amazing it has a sweet storyline and a HEA the characters are so much fun loved them soo much Dax and Morgan are perfect for each other and have the cutest kids can’t wait for more of this series.
This is such a sweet story. I love Dax and Morgan! I am so happy for Dax's story and I just love that Morgan isn't a typical Omega. Hawke Oakley just makes stories that I love and I can't wait for more in this world.
Another lovely shifter, fated mates story. And even if mpreg isn't my favourite thing I enjoyed the kids in the book. This time it's Dex, wolf Alphas turn to find the one in a one of a kind buck. This pack just gets more and more interesting.
Dax and Morgan are great. I love how tough Morgan is and doesn't take anyone's crap. I can't wait to see who is next and what other kinds of shifers are added to their pack.
Great book just like the last one,Morgan gets bullied by a alpha deer because he has a beautiful rack on his head then he meets Dax but he knew right away that they were fated to be together
I continue to love the predator-prey twist to the omegaverse romance. While the plot is pretty standard and gradually simmers down, we get some fun teasers of what I hope is Red the fox shifter's story.
This pack of misfits is quickly become a favorite. I've been super stressed lately and these books are perfect to help take the edge of. Not overly long, super sweet, low on angst but still has an interesting enough plot to keep your attention.
Loved Morgan! He was so strong and was perfect for Dax!! I'm so glad they found each other. I'm truly loving this series. Can't wait Save to find his fated!😍
