Supported by colour photographs taken in homes all over Europe and North America, this visual catalogue of decorative styles of curtaining includes the use of swags, pelmets and drapes to add character to interiors. The text explains methods of hanging or attaching curtains and techniques for measuring. Additionally, historic styles are illustrated in a selection of period paintings and prints. The text has been divided into sections which include how to select a style and choose the right curtains, and how to treat the special needs of individual rooms and windows. Practical advice is given on all aspects of making and arranging curtains and blinds, and there is a materials directory which provides a visual guide to a range of fabrics and trimmings. There is also a helpful directory of suppliers.
Good, classic choices. Sumptuous photography. I was not convinced that the claims for “Inspiring treatments for every shape and style of window – from cottage casements to modern picture windows.” was fully and accurately met; because much (but not all) of this book relies on the house possessing large rooms with floor to ceiling, or window seat height-to-ceiling windows. Overall I found inspiration in this book; most of what is illustrated looks like it can be made by a competant home-sewer.

Good book on interior décor, especially curtaining styles for windows. Good interior shots. Bought the book twice by mistake as other one had a different cover.
