This book shows what love looks like. To stand by your husband or wife through thick and thin shouldn’t be a thing of the past. Marriage should be sacred and secrets should not be kept from each other. I love how they loved each other and how they accepted the changes that were dealt to them.
I throughly enjoyed reading Kellon & Delilah’s story, it was truly a work of art. The author skillfully weaved this story with elements that bring forth every single emotion. There were points where I wanted to be mad at one character or another & points where tears were necessary & points where I was swooning! Reading this book genuinely made me reflect on what a marriage should be, how lovers should communicate, forgive, & weather the storms that may come. I always ask why is this a love that is everlasting, and the Author truly gave me a story that answered that question and then some. I highly recommend this book. I absolutely loveeeed it!
This was my first read by this author. The story was sweet, healthy and refreshing. I enjoyed reading this and it tugged at my heart because I can related to the hearing loss and other things. I loved their marriage and how strong it was.
Love overcomes all! The beginning of the book reveals how an indiscretion in the past caused friction & hurt in Kellon & Delilah’s marriage. & throughout the book we see how they work through that. There are triggers in this book that are sensitive to some.
I loved the disability rep in here with Delilah having to have hearing aids. KC & Delilah using ASL in some scenes made me be like awwwwww 🥰
An enjoyable love story! This book started off messy but I really enjoyed it. Kellon and Delilah love each other their is no doubt about that but they needed to learn how to communicate in their marriage. Something they learned the hard way when a situation forces them to take a deeper look at their marriage. I really enjoyed it and the themes it tackles throughout. This is my first read of the author and I definitely plan to read more of her work.
I have been struggling to find story lines that will hold my full attention lately, Thank you Chelsea. This is my first read by this author and I absolutely loved it and Kellon (heart eyes). The story line caught & held my attention from the very beginning. I can't wait to read more of Chelsea work.
Definitely love their Love Kellon communication was love, love a men bout his s*** Delilah and Kellon were spoil and so in love. Soooo happy for them but wassup wit Khiver.....? OG Killa C so loved pops
Pure love even through tragedy…. I had no idea what to expect going into this story and I’m blown away. This was such a beautifully written story. I Stan a black man that loves on his wife the way Kellon did. This was my first read from Chelsea Maria and I cannot wait to dive into more of her work. My heart is full after reading this love story.
Amazing. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author. I loved it from beginning to end. I enjoyed the faith and growth between the characters. A little messy as life can sometimes be, but super sweet.
YASSSSS Come Thru and push me out of my reading funk why don't you!!! Just when I feel like I'm gone take a break from reading, I find this author. Love those strong, confident male characters that love so hard. Love those out of the box, confident females but are beautifully flawed. Love a story line with the right amount of passion, sex and betrayal , all wrapped up in real life situations.
I really enjoyed this novel! To see the love Delilah and Kellin had for each other was so touching! What God has joined together! He didn't play about his wife and that was so rich! I loved it and look forward to discussing it with my book club sisters. This was our pick for this month! Real Diva's Read book club will have a lively discussion on this one! Great job Chelsea Maria!
I’ve really been interested in married couple romance novels lately. There’s something about reading about an established couple working through the issues during the story.
This brings me to Chelsea Maria’s Our Type of Love. Kellon and Delilah are madly in love. Their love is a constant ebb and flow and filled with the type of passion and sensuality that everyone around them can appreciate. Kellon is known as KC to the world, a famous rapper. Delilah is his doting wife and love of his life. While their love is envied by some and they are indeed happy with one another, these two have faced loss quite a few times and there is a slight undercurrent of discomfort barely beneath the surface of their relationship.
That discomfort is brought to the forefront when a person from Kellon’s past re-enters their lives and threatens to shatter the peace Kellon and Delilah share. Kellon is forced to face decisions from his past and Delilah’s confidence waivers as the foundation of their marriage is tested.
Delilah was a beam of light in everyone’s life and a strong, caring woman even when she made some pretty foolish decisions and seemed to forget that a marriage involves two people. Kellon is definitely a book boyfriend most readers would want. He is deeply spiritual and unrelenting in his love for his wife. Even when she pushes him away and disregards his feelings, he is there for her and refuses to leave her despite his anger. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. The drama in this book was a lot of his own making and I was disappointed in him because a lot of it could have been avoided. I won’t lie if I was Delilah, I probably would have made him sweat it out a bit because there were a few times I wasn’t sure if he realized who exactly was in the wrong here.
Our Type of Love is an emotional tale of a lifetime love, healing old wounds and allowing your partner to be your strength in times of need.
I’ve read all of Chelsea’s this year and this one is by far my favorite. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for more work from this author.
*******Spoilers******* I read this book twice back to back because this book was so good to me. I really love the love that Kellon and Delilah had for one another. Kellon cheated on Delilah with Sasha before they were married that resulted to Sasha getting pregnant. Delilah tried to make him get a paternity but he swept it under the rug because he didn't want to loose Delilah. Sasha married Will and claimed he was Kiser's dad. Will ends up getting sick and had all three kids tested then the truth came out. It hit Delilah especially hard because she had suffered three miscarriages. I love the protective relationship that Kellon's dad, Bishop Cambridge also known as Killa C, mom, Cassandra, and brother, Khiver, had with Delilah. I was so shocked when Killa C bussed Kellon in the chest because of how he mishandled the whole paternity situation. Woody was a good friend to Delilah because she encouraged her to stop ignoring Kellon's calls and talk to him and never once tried to get her to pack up and leave Kellon. Not that Kellon would let her leave him anyway especially the way he rolled up on her in Jamaica to make her come home. Kellon and Delilah's chemistry was off the charts and they were so in tune with each other. I love how Kellon never let anyone disrespect Delilah and was so attentive to her disability needs. Kiser was such a sweet child and just his presence healed things inside of Delilah that was broken. Delilah fell in love with Kiser at first sight and he really loved her too. He was so thoughtful to want to get her a gift and I'm glad that Sasha didn't try to discourage him not to become she was so jealous of Kellon and Delilah's chemistry and relationship. I'm glad that Delilah got her heart's desires without needing Orian and Heather's help and they got their HEA.
I’m rounding my 3.5 stars up to 4. I read this book a week ago and had to really contemplate my review. I’m so torn, because I love this author’s work, but the last 2 male leads have left a bad taste in my mouth. Kellon was needy, jealous, and demanding- and even insensitive in my opinion at times. Kellon and Delilah’s hardships with infertility were so heart wrenching, and he was so loving towards her so I had to soften my views on him. The issue I had was how he felt she should have snapped out of her feelings so quick after finding out about Kiser. I was even side eyeing his mom for checking Delilah about “taking care of home”. I’m still a little perturbed about that even now writing this. I feel that somethings developed too fast and were unrealistic. I will continue to support this author and watch her growth. I just hope these jerky heroes isn’t a thing that I continue to see.
I LOVED that this wasn’t a gang banging, drug dealing book. Kind of stopped reading because they all became repeatitive, well UL anyway. But anyway. This book was AMAZING!! It was so real, about issues people have. And the love oh my GOD the love they have for each other. The love & admiration for each other was just what the title proclaims, our type of love. REAL life up and downs and it was SO focused on God, making Him the center of their personal lives and their lives together. It was so uplifting to see them working through their problems. KC completely doted on her and she was smitten with him. Their love overcame it all and then ending was so emotionally! I had this book trying to read at work!! lol! I will DEFINITELY be reading more from this author!
I read this quickly, but unfortunately that was because I found myself skimming to get through it faster.
I was digging it at first. And there were some things I kinda liked throughout, like how Kellon loved Delilah and his alpha-male energy (both of which kinda went into overkill territory at times, though, for me). But it stopped to explain things too often, so I couldn't get into any kind of real flow. Some things were repetitive or seemed forced. The characters just never came alive or developed for me. I kinda liked the ending.
Cool premise but the execution just fell short, for me.
Kellon 'KC' Cambridge has lived a life of running the streets and now in the limelight as a megastar. One thing you can say about him is that money and fame hasn't changed him at all, but what has is the love of a good woman, a type of love that's one for the books! Delilah is that woman and is devoted to Kellon, but when past transgressions come back to hunt them in the most painful way, will their type of love be enough to save their marriage?
This is my very first read by Chelsea Maria and I found her in the most unlikely way; on a fictional book IG gossip page which is the brain child of Author Love Belvin entitled, (@spillinhotfictionaltea). Listen, the juicy tidbits from this book was just enough to get me to sample. And trust, the sample pulled me all the way in! I was engaged with drama from the jump and was surely invested in how this would all play out. Kellon and Delilah are relationship goals, you hear me! Their chemistry was palpable and their interactions had me freaking swooning! Kellon is a straight up alpha and knows what he wants and gets it in every which way, whew ! Though he had some moments where I wanted to pop him in the head, he was truly a memorable character that I'll stash away on my book bae list. I can't say enough about Delilah: I love her spirit, her drive and her kind heart is unmatched. Additionally, the sub-characters, from Kellon's family down to the hoe-ish villian, Sasha (rolls eyes) added to the storyline.
The plot was well written and the epilogue owed me nothing! All conflicts were resolved which made for a smooth ending. I really couldn't have asked for a better read, I just which it was longer so I could still have something to keep me entertained (lol). I'll be sure to check out other books by this author!
Kellon and Delilah’s journey was a great example of living the vows well past the dress, reception and honeymoon. The timing of the cheating made it even more Grey than the usual outside child scenario and I enjoyed the angst of watching them navigate these waters. But it felt to me like there was a greater weight of culpability placed on Delilah’s “failure” to handle her journey to forgiveness the “right” way than Kellon’s accountability for the piss poor way he handled — literally — everything in this situation. The fact that her (extended) trip to Jamaica was treated by both as the crime of the century left me with a taste in my mouth in light of the situation. You don’t get to drop a bomb on someone and then expect to hold them to your standards of reacting/responding to said bomb without any room for grace when they veer off the path you want them to take (and especially not when the bomb could’ve been avoided altogether had you listened to their advice). So for all of his love and caring, Kellon’s (admitted) selfishness did not make me a fan of his. That said, I liked the couple coming out of the other side of this experience stronger and as a family.
This is a really cute love story! We are introduced to Kellon and Delilah in this story. At the beginning of this book we are introduced to one of Kellon's transgressions. I immediately thought I would hate him throughout the entire book, but the way Chelsea Maria's pen is set up, that didn't last long. The love that was exemplified in this book was extraordinary! This couple's need for each other was nothing short of enviable. "Like my body needed water and food to function, my soul feeds off that palpable energy when our eyes connected."
In any marriage there will always be problems, but this couple suffered with some very unique problems. They weren't all resolved perfectly, but the fact that they were able to work through every single problem without losing sight of the big picture was admirable."Delilah Mari, I couldn't divorce you if somebody paid me to. When I married you, I married your flaws. Married the changes that would occur as we grow older."
Overall this was a great read. It kept my attention throughout the entire book. I also give it bonus points for having a happy ending.
This is my first time reading a book by Chelsea Maria and it was a great introduction to get me to read another. The story was great and kept me entertained. Kellon was a man who loved his family to the core but made a huge mistake that could have destroyed everything that he built. I loved that he was a serious alpha male and didn’t play when it came to Lilah. She went away to gather her thoughts and my man said NAH! Hopped on a flight, went to her hotel, packed her things and said let’s go!! Lol then tortured her with silk ropes! Lilah did have it rough and my heart went out to her, honestly I didn’t think she was selfish. She was blinded by her pain and depression because of her situations but I don’t think it made her a horrible wife because she couldn’t console him. Idk. She went through three tragedies & had to the be a loving wife and accept an outside child. That’s tough.
The moment I started reading I couldn’t put my phone down, it was such a good story that you just didn’t want to end. I’m a lil peeved I am just now finding out about Ms Chelsea Maria! Very talented and my kind of author. Kellon and Delilah were this awesome couple that loved each other to no end and weathered their storms together. Their love was patient, it was kind and it persevered. They weren’t perfect but they beautifully human and were upstanding people. And it was nice to read about them praying to God. Again I didn’t want the story to end. I need to know more about Kiser and I want to read about their journey with Kehlani and their other new edition. Part 2! Please and thank you
This is the 3rd story that t have read by this author, she has quickly been added to my llong lst of favorite authors. As an avid reader whose only hobby is reading I am always looking for new authors to read. Ms. Chelsea Maria I truly enjoyed this story their love and dedication to each other was very inspiring. They both struggled with being honest with each other about their true feelings because of fear it was good seeing them work to overcome those issues. Sasha needs a butt whipping child or no child you were the side piece and now you the baby mama, STAY IN YO LANE. Overall very good read. I think you have a few other books out that I haven't read will definitely add them to my list if books to read. Keep the stories coming. A new Fan
I loved Kellon. He has now become one of my top ten book boyfriends. Chelsea Maria wrote a beautiful love story between Kellon and Delilah. It was real, raw and soul deep. I need a Kellon in my life. He worshipped his woman and poured into her physically, emotionally and spiritually.
I needed more. I usually hate when authors drag out storylines but this book needs to be a series. I connected with this family and want more stories about them. Chelsea Maria handled some serious issues in this book in the most sensitive way. Some things seemed a bit rushed in my opinion but didn't detract too much from the story. Sadly, I couldn't give this book 5 stars which it deserved due to editing issues. I will be reading more books by this author in the future.
Goodness gracious! I really wanted to love this book all the way to five stars, but I couldn’t. Beautiful story but so many unrealistic scenarios. I.e she was on tour with him all the time for years , didn’t finish her schooling and there were no conversations about that? She had no hobbies for herself during that time? Really? She sits in his lap in public at restaurants because he enjoys him and her eating out the same plate? Really? He finds he has a son that’s 8 years old & when they reunite they have no issues, discussions, no transition periods? I wished more emphasis was put on the struggles couples faced in those situations and the conversations it takes to get past it. Overall, a good story line!
This is my first book from this author. Very good read. I loved the emphasis on marriage band and family. Love the emphasis on prayer and meditation. Loved the dedication the couple had to one another and how they had one another's back. The one criticism is for all of Delilah and Kellon's love for the Lord, they had no church life, pastoral guidance, or real Bible study mentioned. This even though Kellon's father is a pastor, it is not hinted that they attend. I know millennia often feel church is optional, but attendance is commanded in Hebrew 10:24-25. Bible study is required to know the GOD they pray too. So show the millennial generation not just family love, but true GOD love. Him for us and is for Him. Keep up the good work.
This was a cute short read. I know what it feels like to want a baby so bad but can’t conceive. Then, Lilah worked in a nursery holding babies and if that isn’t strength idk what is. I liked this couple but I didn’t like Kellon’s forceful nature at times. Maybe because I am not a submissive wife but the way he talked to her at times had me thinking how I could never. I do feel like he should have given her all the time she needed, to deal with the news of Kiser. One thing I can say is that he didn’t change anything about him and his wife in their home. The behavior stayed the same and he made time for his wife. He never made her feel left out. Loved the ending and the fact they got a baby and another one on the way!
