The Haunting Of Gallagher Hotel is not your run of the mill haunted house story. I was immediately drawn to this book based on its title ( who doesn't love a good haunting?!) But got so much more than I ever anticipated. The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel managed to combine paranormal, horror, mystery and comedy into the most perfect and palatable bite.

Synopsis:

When Chris, a master thief, and Riley, a contract waitress, get mysterious invites to an exclusive party at the haunted Gallagher Hotel, they discover that there is more at play than simple celebrations.

Hidden truths are revealed, and all hell breaks loose. But the "party" has just begun.

Now, Chris and Riley face their demons as they fight to survive a hellish nightmare full of spoiled secrets, carnage, and vengeful spirits lost to the hotel dating back to the turn of the 20th century.

Go ahead and check into The Gallagher Hotel and join the party if you dare. I must warn you though that you just might not survive the night.

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel was a story that gave me the unexpected. I went in expecting a simple tale of ghosts haunting a house, only to be given something else. It certainly surprised me, keeping me hooked throughout.

At the core, The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel is a horror story. However, there is much more to it than a look at the darkness. The personal elements of the story – the growth of the characters and the questions about their lives – are just as gripping as the supernatural elements. In fact, I enjoyed these aspects more. The supernatural story offered a unique twist, but it was watching the characters grow and reveal their true selves that I enjoyed the most.

All in all, The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel is a story that gives the unexpected. It’s one that keeps you on your toes, ensuring you keep turning the pages.

As soon as I read the word haunting in the title, I couldn’t resist this book. The first chapter is intense, and though it gets a bit slow like a few chapters after, the second and third parts made up for it. The characters are well-developed, and I precisely like Riley for caring and thinking of others though she is also scared and haunted. There’s a lot of gore in this story, and that’s what makes it more interesting; I know I am weird, but hey, isn’t that the best part of any horror novel and movies? If this will be a movie, I will watch it in daylight because I am a chicken. Anyway, I love how the historical facts were written, and it was daunting and interesting. This story is not your typical, predictable scary read; it is disturbing, sinister, and overall eerie. I truly enjoyed it.

I love reading a good Haunted House story, and the Haunting of Gallagher Hotel turned out to be a compelling haunted hotel story! It was like watching “The Haunting of Hill House” meets “The Shining“.

The author makes the story twisted, creepy, and even gory at times. At times, I had no idea what was around the corner. At first, the plot seems mild as the author takes time to introduce the characters. However, the story picked up once Riley starts to see the ghosts in the Hotel. The author then introduces us to the bigger cast of the Hotel. Natalie, Dan, Dr. Myles, and Brenda add nicely to the storyline,

I also liked the level of details the author put into the story. It was interesting to see how the past mistakes come to haunt the guests of the Hotel. One particular moment was when they saw the young girl lying in the Hotel, and Dan remembers his past’s horrors. I also found the scene with Pruitt, Dr. Myles, and Chris shocking, as they remember Myles’s past.

Similarly, I also liked the Hotel’s history and how Trudy and Ulysses started using it for the wrong reasons. A lot was going on in the story that made it a thrilling read.

However, there were a few questions that I felt we did not get answers to them. For instance, why did some of these people get invitations in the first place? Moreover, on a minor note, I was upset at how the author wrote off one of the characters, who became my favorite.

But, apart from that, this was a very chilling and entertaining book to read. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Is it too early to start planning those Spooktober lists?

For those who want a good haunting, make sure to add this one to those lists for October! Can horror be fun to read?🤣🤣🤣 I think so, as this one tickled my horror side, and while it may not have been scary for me (long-time Stephen King fan so...🤣) it was definitely a fun ride. There are some gory-type scenes so that's a plus too.

The writing is good and I enjoyed the setting and characters. It has a different twist to the haunting, and I loved that. This one is out now so definitely add to those Spooktober lists or if you're like me and enjoy horror any time of year, read it sooner 🤣🤣

"Pride and greed infect the soul, anchoring the dead to Gallagher Hotel."

If I don't get nightmares from this book, well I'll be dammed!
This is thrillingly gripping, creepy as hell itself, messed up in more ways than one, yet makes total sense too. Full of faith and demonic rituals. Oh it was the perfect frightful book (and I'm a big baby with these type of books!) I've read.
I am still surprised at how much I enjoyed this! I loved Riley's character, she has her demons but she's a fighter and full of faith. I loved how throughout the book she was strong and kept on fighting. Even when the truths came out with all the other invitees, she still tried to help them. Then Chris, I felt sorry for him, even with his past, I felt he was just a damaged soul and just needed love. The other characters na, they were worse than Satan himself!
This plot was absolutely well thought out, you're on the edge of your seat, in a horror filled rollercoaster wanting to know what happens next. I really liked how the hotel was a vortex to hell, and the souls captured, well let's just face it they deserved to be there. I really liked how this book was gorey and gruesome, yet there was the balance of faith and God. I liked that in the end that faith and God was the light at the end of the tunnel. I love that Riley, even with the crap she encountered, went back to the hotel and made sure it will never be used as a vessel again. She ended up saving those trapped souls, finally!

I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy this book, but I did. The writing is captivating, the creepiness is just enough to freak you out- but not enough to make you give up on reading. The plot and characters are believeable (although not all are likeable), there was faith and religion but not too heavily handed. It all tied in well and executed fantastically. For all paranormal horror fans out there, I definitely recommend you picking this book up!

30 pages in, I knew I wasn't going to like this book. The writing is mediocre, the dialogue is awkward, but the biggest issue is that it's not suspenseful. There really wasn't a sense of dread, no heart pounding with the turn of the page. There was descriptive gore, but that's not scary, and a lot of the time I found myself bored. As many characters as we're introduced to, only 2 are given any depth. I at least appreciate their arcs. I wish we could've gotten more about the antagonists; their motivations only seemed to scratch the surface. The setting should have been done way better as well. It's a creepy hotel, I want to feel like I'm in it. Instead we get descriptions of the walls and floors and a dark basement. I never got a true sense of the layout which made picturing it confusing at times. And then it abruptly ends. I was excited when I picked this as my Halloween read only to be left un-chilled and not thrilled.

Holy cow! What did I just read?? Whatever it was, it was fantastic!! The title of this one alone grabbed my attention, beyond that I really went into this one blind. It went in directions I would have never imagined in a million years. I had no idea what was going to happen from one page to the next. Really kept me white knuckling my kindle while on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

With a cinematic opening, this novel presents a group of people set to spend the night in Michigan’s most haunted hotel. Each person is horrible, so you’re prepared for their inevitable deaths. It’s like the start of an enjoyable cheesy movie and lulls you into its comfortable grip.
However, The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel has more to it than its opening suggests. The back stories of the guests are more nuanced than I expected, and the stories of the main point of view characters - Chris and Riley - were surprisingly emotional. I loved the spiritual aspect to the book.
This would have been four stars for me if the beginning 30% of the book had included more of the elements that appeared later (or hinted at them more) and also knocking off the star for the overuse of shrilled instead of screamed which I found irritating.
Overall, a very enjoyable horror novel that satisfied on character development, gore and a deeper meaning.

I am so excited to finally be able to get this review posted! I have been waiting for the tour date to hit, anxious to tell you all about this book.

I usually don’t care much for the paranormal type horror. Whether it be movies, books or comics, it’s just never been my thing. However, every once in a while, I come across a paranormal horror story in one form or another that really does the trick.

This is one of those books.

As always, before I really dive into the few particulars I’m willing to share, I want to give you the blurb that made me want to sign up to read this when my awesome teammates at Blackthorn Book Tours sent it to me. So here it is:

Pride and greed infect the soul, anchoring the dead to Gallagher Hotel.

When Chris, a master thief, and Riley, a contract waitress, get mysterious invites to an exclusive party at the haunted Gallagher Hotel, they discover that there is more at play than simple celebrations.

Hidden truths are revealed, and all hell breaks loose. But the “party” has just begun.

Now, Chris and Riley face their demons as they fight to survive a hellish nightmare full of spoiled secrets, carnage, and vengeful spirits lost to the hotel dating back to the turn of the 20th century.

Will they survive the night? Or will their souls be devoured by the most haunted building in Michigan?

Not bad right? Sounds like it has potential doesn’t it?

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel was a fantastic read. It’s a great story about a group of people at what is rumored to be the most haunted hotel in Michigan. We really stay centered on mostly one character, Riley, although there are five guests or so at the hotel total.

Riley is a contract server, kind of like catering. She’s an independent gal with a boyfriend who is madly in love with her and already planning their future together. Although she cares for him deeply, she kind of already has plans of her own. She is a young woman struggling to make ends meet and takes the request of this event at the hotel because she believes it will be an easy night of easy money. She quickly finds out that things aren’t going to be as easy as she had hoped.

As soon as all of the invited guests arrive tensions immediately begin to brew. So many different personalities just forced together for a night in a strange place, a haunted hotel and some very oddball hosts makes for the perfect recipe for trouble. All of the guests that Riley has been hired to serve for the evening seem to have this disgusting sense of entitlement. The kind of entitlement that makes the average person cringe with loathing and abhorrence. This makes the job much less pleasant for Riley than anticipated.

Also, she soon starts experiencing some very strange things. Peculiar things begin to happen inside and outside of the hotel. Before Riley even knows what is going on, dead bodies start to turn up in guest rooms. She not only has to figure out what is going on, but she also has to figure out who she can trust. More importantly, she must figure out how to stay alive herself.

Some parts of this book reminded me of the general idea behind the movie Final Destination in which the characters had to figure out ways to cheat death. This novel takes that kind of idea and mixes it together with Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Once that is combined really well it’s as if the author threw in a spoonful of the movie CLUE just for good measure. It’s a lot to put together, but this author was an expert with her literary loom and wove us a tapestry of suspense, horror, truth, lies, present, past and paranormal. A very tall order, in my opinion, but extremely well executed in the finished product, a novel that is sure to be a hit with any horror or suspense story lover. ANY paranormal horror lover should be jumping at this novel as well.

Yes, there is horror in this novel. There’s horror and gore, creepy ghostly secrets, blood and death, and just a dash of levity. I always enjoy when an author adds a little comedy into the mix. It makes for a much more entertaining read.

I also enjoyed the ending. It was like the last act in a thrilling and suspenseful play. It was truly an excellent conclusion.

This was a fascinatingly chilling and exciting novel to read. It was a true page turner for me, easy to read, easy to get through and very difficult to put down. The best part, for me, was the diversity of the characters. To me this adds a certain realism to the story and gives it a much more interesting angle.

My only complaint would be that the Part II section seemed to have quite a few words missing. It seems that the writer’s mind was going faster than their hands could type, which is something I completely understand. The words missing are not “key” words. It is obvious from the context that these are small more or less transition words and such, so it’s not that big of a deal really. Unfortunately, it’s very difficult for spell/grammar check to catch those sometimes. However, I do want to stress that, as a reviewer, I often get pre-corrected versions of manuscripts, before they are proofed and edited and completely published. Remember guys, I’ve had this book for a while before I get to post my review, months in fact. This is something that is usually fixed in the final copy. So, don’t fret. Some might feel like this novel is a bit long, but it moves so fast it really didn’t bother me as much as it might have if the book was bad.

I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of ghost stories and haunted tales, but also the regular horror lovers. I promise this novel does in fact fit in that category as well.

I wanted to DNF this audiobook right from the get-go. The narration is one of the most unlistenable pieces of shit (literally) I've ever heard. The first thing I heard was fuck all, because it's so goddamned quiet! The second was this ever-present background hiss. I had to turn my Audiobookshelf volume all the way up, then my phone, and sit with my face right next to my phone to barely be able to hear this overly quiet piece of shit.

The narrator says stupid shit such as "Acrosst", "outstide", "onvelope"... I take issue, as I always do, with ANYBODY who pronounces "envelope" as "onvelope". You don't "ontertain" guests at a party, you don't "onter" a room, and not a fucking soul says a room is "on-veloped" in darkness when you turn off its lights. He narrates damn near every scene in the same tone of voice, which he mostly uses for characters. Every once in a blue moon, he'd give a character a voice for a few lines, implying he has some level of talent, and then would go back to narrating everything in the same tone of voice. This was legitimately one of the worst audiobooks I've ever listened to, and the only reason I didn't DNF it was that I sometimes feel like I DNF too many books due to shitty, dogshit, god-damned awful narrators like this fucker.

As for the actual book itself, it was really good. I'm glad I stuck with it. The story has the same vibes (for lack of a better word) to me as Room 1408 (the movie, not the story, I never read it), 13 Ghosts, Ghost Ship, and the black marsh from Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. The hotel is this sort of soul-stealing operation. And while yes, that's a spoiler, it's a very minor part of what this book is about. Much more goes on. It's intense, exciting, there are a few twists, scenes from multiple points of view, and it genuinely had me hooked from the start.

There are some brutal scenes in here, though, mentions of mutilation, child-rape, gore, drug abuse, child death, and so on. This really isn't the story for people with a weak stomach. While some of these things are majorly disturbing for sure, the reason I'm fine with them is that it's not a pansy ass, pathetic book that tries to hide from reality. I hate how sex scenes in movies are always 2 shadows hugging. It's ok to show somebody getting brained, but don't you dare show a titty! And that's what I like about this book. It doesn't hold back! IT's not afraid to say yes, this horrible shit does exist in our world. People do these things, and it treats the reader (or listener) like a fucking adult, and not a child needing to be coddled, and I'm grateful for it.

Not to let the book off easy, however... It has the usual idiotic bullshit of referring to firearm suppressors as "silencers", which I will ALWAYS take the time to kick that dead horse on my way out. One other instance of "Abdomen" being referred to as "Stomach". Your stomach is an internal organ, if a character was stabbed in the stomach, or has their hands on their stomach, they're beyond fucked. Nobody ever refers to a character resting their hands on their lungs instead of their chest, because that would be idiotic and absurd. But speaking of idiotic and absurd, this book had what might be the single dumbest shit I've ever heard in an audiobook. Multiple times, it refers to people "pressing the backs of their teeth together." Now what even the fuck does that mean!? HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO THAT, EXACTLY!?! I don't know what the fuck back-woods, brother-loving part of the world the author must be from to experience shit like that, 'cause I just about had a fucking anyerism the first time I heard that stupid ass shit.

I usually save the audiobook section for last, but that narration was so goddamn dogshit terrible, I couldn't help myself. Definitely give this book a read or listen, if you like horror for adults, that isn't gory just to be gory (read Try the New Candy by Aron Beauregard if that's your thing.), but do yourself a favor and skip this just fucking awful audiobook. You can give a physical book to a friend, or donate it to a used book store or something, but if you try to give somebody this audiobook, they may take it as an insult.

NOTE: This audiobook was provided to me free of charge as a digital review copy. The opinions stated in this review are mine and mine alone; I was not paid or requested to give this book a certain rating, suggestion, or approval.

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel seems, at first, to be a simple, straightforward haunted-house story, but it's so much more than that. There is a lot more than meets the eye within these pages, and once things get going, it's hard to put it down.
The beginning is a little on the slow side, but it's building up to the intense happenings throughout the rest of the book. We get the character introductions and a little bit of backstory to get a feel for who they are before they end up at the hotel. Once there, that's when things start to get weird, creepy, strange, and downright chilling.
Now, I'm not normally a huge fan of haunted house stories. Or movies, for that matter. I tend to find them a bit silly and cliche a lot of the time, so I was a little hesitant about this one at first. But I'm so glad I took a chance on it. It's different than what I was expecting, and it was more than just some spooky happenings and ghosts floating around.
I really liked Riley, who is a woman still dealing with the grief of losing her loved ones. She's working herself hard to try and keep herself from dwelling too long on the past, and it's easy to feel sympathetic towards her.
Chris, the other "main" character, is interesting. He comes across as a bit of a tough guy at the beginning, but as the story progresses, this petty thief has some nice character development, and you start to see him in a new light.
Even the backstories of the guests at the hotel are done well. They draw readers in and keep them engaged with the overall story.
There is a bit of a twist, as well, which I enjoyed. I won't say anything to spoil it, though.
Overall, a really solid horror novel that will delight and thrill fans of haunted house stories.
4 stars!

The Story: Gallagher Hotel has a dark past. It was burnt down in 1921 claiming the lives of 25 people in the fire. Fast forward to present time, new owner, Brenda Scott, invited a few guests which are exclusively selected for a wine and dine and overnight stay at the hotel. Riley, a contract waitress is called to work as the overnight server at this event. She accepts the job as the pay is one thousand dollars just for this shift. Unbeknownst to the guests and Riley, the hotel has other plans for each of them. Will they survive the night?

My thoughts: I am a sucker for a good haunting story. The title immediately grabbed me and I knew I had to read it. This was unlike any other haunted house story I've read. It definitely has The Haunting of Hill House and The Shining vibes. There are so many bone-chilling moments and I was hooked from the beginning. The first chapter itself was so intense.

I enjoyed the mystery element of this story. I liked how it was unraveled gradually through flashbacks which brought the whole story together in the end.

Ah, secrets, secrets! I love reading secrets in a plot. Each guest carries their own dark past with them and it was a delight discovering their secrets!

This was one creepy and twisty horror story with a unique plot and an unexpected ending. I enjoyed it and recommend it to horror fans!

About the Book: The Gallagher Hotel prides itself on being the most haunted building in Michigan and has quite a history. 5 people have been invited to have drinks, dinner and stay the night in the hotel. Riley, who works for a catering company, has been requested to come and work the event. The hostess of the evening, owner Brenda Scott along with her sidekick, Allen, ruffle some feathers at dinner and everyone scatters to their own rooms. That is when all HELL breaks loose!!

For a five star read, you get a 5 list day for why you need to read this book..
1. The plot is not just a slasher novel, you get to know the victims and learn why they have been invited to the Gallagher.
2. You get a complete history of the hotel and it’s original owner, Trudy Gallagher. The history is so interesting and well done.
3. The house itself in its current state will give you a sort of ‘Mexican Gothic’ vibe (if you haven’t read that one) - this house does it’s own thing
4. The fact that strong faith plays a role in this book was a great addition.
5. I literally sat down and except for one popcorn popping break I read the whole book.

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel by K.T. Rose is a twisted tale of good versus evil in a hauntingly good ghost story that will keep you turning pages until the end. Rose went to a new level of haunting in this novel.

Riley is a server who has been asked to work for a one-night gig at the Gallagher Hotel. She is one of the few on a concise list of people invited to this special event and she has no idea why the owner asked for her. During the first few minutes on the job Riley is introduced to a handful of special guests including Chris who has plans to work a short stint before grabbing as many treasures as he can and heading to Mexico. With a cast of characters that is quite diverse the evening is set to be memorable for everyone.

I give this story 4 out of 5 stars for its ability to keep me turning pages with new surprises throughout. Some of the plot twists get confusing because there are so many lives intertwined, but overall, the plot carries you through for an eye-opening look at justice and truth in the eyes of a greater being. This story is definitely a must-read for any ghost hunter!

This is another great read from K.T. Rose. It's a haunted house story but not just a haunted house story. When the book first starts we meet Riley (a contract waitress) and Chris (a gang member/thief trying to escape the life). This is a slow starting story as there is some character development. As the story moves forward we meet the other invited guests and the host of the event. Now these are some horrible people, so it's hard to feel sorry for them as events unfold and the past comes back to haunt them. Even with its horrific scenes, the story has the underlying message about doing what is right. I am always on the lookout for a good horror author and I was previously pleased to read this author's book, Netted (which I previously reviewed), so when I learned about this one I was excited to receive a review copy. I recommend this book as well, giving it 4 of 5 stars.

Review:
The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel was such a good, haunted hotel story. I’m really into this genre, so I was really excited to read this story. I’m happy to report, I wasn’t disappointed!
K.T. Rose writes in this creepy, twisted voice that had me on edge. The story starts out at a slower pace, giving the reader time to know the characters, but when this story picks up, prepare yourself!
I love the revelations of how the past came back to haunt the characters. It was such a cool way to tell a ghost story. There is a lot of history at play here, which makes the entire story compelling.
There are some open ended questions, but I rather enjoy stories that don’t give you everything. Who knows every answer in life? Leaving a bit of mystery is equivalent to making it realistic.
I loved this and highly recommend it.

I actually give this 3 1/2 tars but since GR doesn't have 1/2 stars I am giving it 4.

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel by KT Rose is a bit confusing and as you read there is a lo9t of past history on each character which at times is kind of boring, but in the end it kind of explains itself as to why all of that is put in there. At times the book can be a bit confusing as well. At times it is slow. But the 2nd half really picks up speed and the craziness begins.

A handful of people all from different lifestyles, back grounds, and pasts are sent an invitation to Michigan's most Haunted Hotel the Gallagher, for a private party, No one knows why they were chosen or the real reason for the party. As the night goes on and more and more of the members of the party turn up dead. Chris a thief and Riley a waitress must turn to each other to survive the night.

When a group of ‘elite’ citizens are invited to an unknown celebration dinner and get to stay in what’s labeled the most haunted house of Michigan, I thought I was going to read a predictable paranormal tale about ghosts and hauntings.
The author mixed it up and the elite guests ended up being a part of a real life horror story. It was gory and demented. It was Satan and Hell! It’s a great read, if you love paranormal horror involving demons and the anti-Christ.
The thing that I felt could have been better, was a more transitional period of the guests lives outside of the hotel and their past.

Audiobook: This was my first experience with this author's work. It took a little while for me to get into this story, but once the set-up was complete, the story became engrossing. I liked that all the characters were complex, even the ghosts. I felt for Riley as she went through an emotional roller coaster, especially as she was trying to deal with the death of her son. I was entertained by Benjamin Powell's narration, once I was familiar with his cadence. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel is a captivating read. Overall, it's a good, engaging read. However, the pacing was off and there were some abrupt deviations from Riley (who we mostly follow through the story) that didn't add anything to the story. I wish Chris had been introduced more smoothly, but it kind of took me out of the story for a little. I wouldn't consider this a typical horror, but it definitely gets your heart racing. You'll be captivated waiting to see whether Chris and Riley make it out the other side alive...and sane.

I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have given The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel by K. T. Rose three out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This story is so much more than a horror story.

A compelling, unique supernatural novel which really captured my attention. I found it difficult to put this book down as the story that kept unraveling was so unexpected to how I thought the plot was going to play out. I have to say that this story is definitely not for the faint-hearted due to the amounts of gore detailed across some of the pages, it’ll make you feel a little uneasy, but I thought that was the best part. The detail. When an author is able to make you feel a certain emotion whilst reading their words, you know that they’ve achieved what they set out to do. To make the reader feel something.

At the beginning, I thought it was going to be quite difficult to keep up with the number of characters we’re introduced to however, as I kept reading it soon became clear on who was who, which helped to pick up the pace of the story. I really enjoyed the mystery element behind each character as I found that drew me into the story further as I couldn’t wait to unravel the events that were to happen next.

Although it could be confusing at times, I thought that the way the author incorporated past events to the present day was very clever and I found it quite easy to follow. There’s one particular scene which will stay with me for a long while, as it definitely made me feel unsettled (if you’ve read this book, you can probably guess which part I’m talking about). I don’t want to give too much away of this book as I think it’s a lot better if you were to go into it knowing as little as possible.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading supernatural, horror and gore stories. I look forward to reading more of K.T. Rose’s material in the future.

The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel by K.T. Rose was a creepy book! The past comes back to haunt Chris and Riley. I was drawn in from the start trying to figure out what kind of exclusive event was going on at the hotel and who Chris was to have been invited. It was a bit slow to start with, but I really enjoyed the second half of the book. It is definitely horror as it had a bit of gore in it. Overall, I enjoyed this book and recommend it to any horror fan.

Thank you to @blackthorntours for the #gifted copy of the book.

I love books that deal with a haunting which is the main reason I picked this book up. Love love books that have a bit of creepiness to it and doesn’t depend on gore. Don’t get me wrong there’s a bit of gore with this book that makes you cringe too. I do have to say that this is one of the few horror books that I felt so deeply for one of the main characters. I felt so bad for Riley and was rooting for her the entire time. That’s probably because most horror books I pick up are mostly plot driven and not really character driven. I will be reading a lot more by K. T. Rose!

don’t bother

I pushed through because I hate to quit but wished I would have. Typos, sentence fragments, weird comma placements in the middle of sentences. In correct word usage “chocked on blood instead of choked on blood” as an example. Another terrible example: yellow brain matter. In the history of brain matter, never has it been anything other than grayish pink in color…never yellow. I refuse to suggest a book to anyone when the book is inconsistent, incorrect grammar and nonsensical.

Great 10+ hour audio of a haunted motel in Michigan. I went into this blind and was pleasantly pleased. It’s not scary but is very mysterious and leads you down a gracious amount of information on each character. The information will definitely keep you locked into the book itself.

Several people received invites to either stay or work at the hotel for a weekend. What transpires is a fight for their souls.

I’m very familiar with a lot of the real life locations mentioned in the book as I live close so that was an interesting sure.

I listened to the audiobook version and while the narrator did a good job, I found the frequent time jumps between past and present—and between multiple characters—a bit confusing to follow. The premise is intriguing, especially with the eerie setting of the Gallagher Hotel and the haunted party angle. Riley’s grief and desire to rebuild her life gave her character some depth, and Chris had an interesting, if chaotic, backstory.

The supernatural twist added a spooky touch, and the atmosphere was well-crafted, but with so many characters and secrets unraveling at once, it was sometimes hard to stay connected to the core storyline. Overall, it was a decent read with a unique concept, but the execution made it hard to fully engage.

Chilling and Fast-Paced

This is a very good story, filled with memorable characters, horrific scenes of terror and violence and a very satisfying ending. Ultimately, it is a morality story, flowing on the spiritual strength of doing the right thing, even when it hurts to do so.
Read it, ponder it, discuss it with your friends, family, or Pastor. It will be a fruitful discussion, and would make a great movie. Well Done! A+
