Everyone has a dark, ugly side-some of us just choose to hide it better than others
She’s a young woman going through a mid-twenties crisis, trying to deal with the dark and intoxicating side of life with haunting memories of an abusive ex-boyfriend, remnants of a broken family and obvious mental health issues.
Finding herself on a consistent downward spiral, she tries to grapple with the harsh realities of her existence and her incessant attraction to all things that are bad for her, which ultimately culminate in the form of a medical emergency as she overdoses, leading to a blackout in the middle of a unfamiliar place, a very public meltdown and a broken leg.
With no job, a failing art career, months of expensive therapy, a cast on her leg and a mystery man in her life, will she be able to recover from her embarrassing wastefulness? Can she defeat her infamous trait of self-sabotage and manoeuvre her way through some hard-hitting truths?

A one of a kind book

It's primarily a memoir of a mind struggling with acute mental illnesses. The writing style is very honest, unapologetic, and skillful. Writing this book must have provided a sense of catharsis to the author, for the sheer intensity in which it is written. The book has the power to offer solidarity to readers going through similar mental health problems. I wish the author heals and write another book one day of transcending her illness against all odds. My prayers 🙏

Tazmeen Amna captures the reality of what a 25 year old girl is going through. She writes it raw and she writes about how a person with mental health is thinking. It's not yummy dory, it's what her female protagonist goes through. The book is written in first person narrative because she wants the reader to know what actually is going on in that brain of the depressed person. There are many things the character that she talks about which can make you uncomfortable but which is also the writers motive to show you through her writing that how mental health if not managed can lead to uncomfortable scenarios, thoughts and what not. Tazmeen writes about someone who is privileged enough to go to a therapist, have medication and understanding parents which makes us realize about the ones who don't have that privilege or access what they must be going through. The book is dark, real and somebody who is ready to enter a person's head to understand mental health better.
