The more answers I get, the more questions I have. I only know one thing for certain. I need my guys. All of them.
I let myself get comfortable. I found a rhythm and thought life might actually calm down for a while. That I might find a new normal, but the Society needs something from me.
My guys tell me I can trust them, their parents, and the organization they belong to. My mom’s journal says I can’t.
There’s no time to hesitate. No time to overthink. I have to do what I’ve been asked. This is bigger than me or my guys. There’s more at stake than I could have ever realized.
Loyal to a Fault is the fifth book in the Arlington Park series, a slow-burn reverse harem romance.
Avalon's life is a mess. She's fallen for all of her friends and they are all now fighting. She has a new friend but unfortunately, she's part of a new Society job. She has a new clue about her mom but it puts her no closer to knowing what made her run. Nothing is ever simple.
I know this series stated out front that it is a slow-burn but my goodness. Avalon has kissed two of the guys. Only two! That's not slow, that's stalled. Half of the time, at least one of the guys isn't speaking to her and another 1-2 are avoiding her. At this point, I'm wondering if she should just date Luca and call the others, friends. I know they have growing pains but they have forgotten the rules of friendship. They are no longer there for each other, especially Avalon. Too much jealousy from the guys and too much self-loathing on Avalon's part. As much as I enjoy these short books, I need some forward momentum. If not, the guys are going to lose their appeal. There also needs to be some progress on Avalon's search for answers. I loved the addition of Bianca. Hate how it played out. Avalon needs a Bianca...
Avalon's relationships with the guys take front and centre in this book. There is a Society task as a back story but really this book is about all the emotional angst as the guys and Avalon try to figure out what they want. This series is very slow burn, but promises to be worth the wait!
I love that it’s fast paced, action packed, interesting and full of characters with depth and uniqueness. It is slow burn and my frustrations are high that things aren’t happening but that just adds to the excitement and enjoyment and suspense of everything that’s to come!!
Things get more and more complicated. There is a bright spot for the mc for awhile but that seems to go away too. The end is a little bit of a cliffhanger and this book definitely goes by way too fast. I can't wait to see what happens next.
I love these guys. All of them are so sweet and strong. And they all love Avalon. But I wish they would get over themselves and see what they are doing to Ave. She loves them all. Lexie has written an amazing story and I can't wait for the next book.
Alright, I need to finish a series so I just chose this one because I know I can breeze through them. No more chronic "leaving a series unfinished."
That being said, this one's tough. The angst of this new installment, Loyal to a Fault was hard to chew and the misunderstandings left and right were just... beyond frustrating. I get that one conversation isn't going to magically solve all their problems and bring them together. It's just hard to read through the horrible angst and bickering that goes along with it. Granted, it's realistic *in a way* but also just somewhat overdone.
I say all these things, but I do like some of the characters. Like Luca. Dreamboat.
It's still also crazy to me that they are all fifteen or sixteen years old with unlimited access to money. Like where the hell was this when I was growing up? lol. Jokes aside, they're that young and dealing with all this shit? Killer cousins, bullies, would-be rapists, the mafia, a secret society of powered people.... I don't know how these kids aren't less adjusted than they are.
The plot is getting somewhere and I'm still not sure where it's going exactly. There have been a lot of tangents that the story doesn't really feel cohesive. The very end was interesting enough that I want to stay around and find out what's going on.
There are times I forget these characters are 15 and 16 years old. Why? Because they get to spend time alone in a house on Lake Geneva. Some of them go to parties and drink. The parental units are ok with it.
I think I get why the author has them so young. High school is a great catalyst. But these are children. Talking about poly relationship. Acting like they have their own money buying gifts but have no jobs. It’s like this was meant to be a paranormal romance, but there’s no real paranormal. It just feels…weird. The kids need to be in college for this to work otherwise if feels too pervy.
Continuing on from where we left off… and ending with yet another cliffhanger-ish ending! It’s a serialized storyline set over nine books, and they aren’t standalone! Avalon and her guys are trying to come to a consensus regarding their relationships. Meanwhile, there is a new task for Avalon to perform for the society… and a couple more birthdays to celebrate, along with the gifts that come with them!
Another enjoyable addition to this series, which is a fun, slow burn, academy RH.
This book has been a roulette of feelings leading Avalon to a total breakdown. The girl can't take any more emotional storms. She has already suffered too much hurt and loss for them not to put her first.
The boys have been very selfish, thinking only of what they are feeling, forgetting that before all this they were friends and could talk about anything.
I hope in the next book the poor thing gets a break.
Loyal to a Fault, book five of the Sorcerer's Society series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Another tension-filled installment to this wonderful series. Character and relationship-driven, the writer has done a great job of individualizing each person, even secondary characters.
Every time a new book comes out, I find it even better than the last. This book was more of Avalon figuring out herself than anything else. This book was high on emotions. I can't wait to read the next one.
For a series where really nothing is going on, kind of mundane. There is really alot going on and I keep reading their day to day. I really like it!! They really didn't get anything settled on their relationship part, hoping the next book.
I love Avalon and her guys but things are going very, very slow. Storyline as will as relationships. I think it would have been possible to combine some of the books and speed things up a bit.
Such a good book, so plot and character driven. I have enjoyed it so immensely. The characters are doing things that are more age appropriate, 5 books in and zero sexy times, just a few make out sessions. Loving this series.
This book continues the story, with a few twist and turns that take you by surprise. I wish this book had been a little longer. But overall a nice read.
