Cody Montrose is about to lose his virginity during a one-night (more accurately a one-hour) stand in a seedy motel when the hookup is interrupted by three men who abduct him...to the year 2060. His captors reveal that mankind will soon be extinct because of the mutated HIV virus. But perhaps a risky plan to send the ideal test subject back in time to California, to the year 1983 where the deadly strain first occurred, might work. Cody finds himself asked to impersonate Lance, a big-dicked, blond porn star of the era. Carrying an experimental nanocell that is hoped to inoculate anyone he has sex with, Cody must save the world without drastically altering the course of history, as he plunges into the world of porn and hustling, sleeping with a who's who of gay porn stars and famous actors, including co-star Leo Ford. But soon complications arise, and Cody's mission is endangered.
“Lance and Leo” by Colton Aalto is a sci-fi erotic book, that takes the reader to places they never expected. Cody Montrose is an average guy in modern times unlucky in love. Well, more specifically in being able to find guys who want to hook up with him. He is not the kind of guy who can easily entice other guys into his bed. Then one day an attractive man reaches out to him to meet up at a hotel. Cody is shocked that a hot guy would be interested in him. What he did not expect was for 3 men from a future time-traveling agency to arrive and kidnap him. Cody wakes up to find himself in the future. Why? Well, his blood is unique and can potentially save the future from a virus that will kill off all of humanity. Sounds like a crazy premise, right? Well, it gets better. In the future, Cody is altered to look like a guy named Lance. A well-endowed blond porn star from the 1980s. Sent back in time to 80s Los Angeles, Cody needs to have sex with as many men as possible to stop a potentially future deadly disease. I enjoyed this book more than I had expected. If you can get through the completely out-there premise, I think most readers will find it a fun ride. The first chapter brings the reader right into the spicy and never turns down the heat. It is a fun take on the fish out of the water trope, as Cody now has a new face and body that most men cannot resist. But it is not just filled with humor. There is a deeper story happening here. As Cody makes his way through the 1980s, he causes changes to the timeline, which gives the reader an alternate universe story. As most know, the 1980s was the height of the AIDS crisis and this book does shy away from it. At first, I was a little leery of it. Here is this guy with knowledge of the future, who cannot tell anyone, carrying a genetically-engineered cure for a specific strain of HIV. In the fictitious world of the story, this strain will mutate in the future and wipe out humanity. It was a bit difficult early on, knowing that there never was such a miracle cure that showed up and saved so many. When the story started introducing real-life people, including Rock Hudson, I worried about where the story was going to go as many of the historical characters mentioned in the story, did die in real life. But I felt the author handled that well. If you know famous porn stars of the 1980s you will get a real treat in this story. I would warn some readers about content warnings. The story is sometimes difficult to get through. Some of the things that occur in the story could make one uncomfortable as they read it. The plot centers around the 1980s porn industry. Which was quite a racist time in that industry. The story does discuss the open racism towards black performers. It does now shy away from how they were treated and viewed by their white scene partners. There are also various homophobic slurs used throughout the story. The most uncomfortable thing I found, was an SA scene that happens during the final quarter of the story. In which a character tries to justify his actions against a sleeping man. If any of these things are triggers, I would suggest caution while reading it. An additional note, I listened to the audiobook version of the story. The voice actor, Jason Frazier, did an amazing job telling the story and creating unique character voices throughout the story. Highly recommend. Overall, it was an enjoyable story, that I could see myself reading again. If you enjoy time-traveling sex romps and/or are a big fan of the 80s porn era, then this is the book for you.
