Court of Paravel #3

Blackmailing His Bride

Rate this book
I bled and struggled in darkness to place King Anson on the throne, and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him there. I’ve never asked for anything in return. I don’t want recognition. I don’t need thanks.

But the moment I lay eyes on her, I want Sachelle Balzac.

A family calamity has Sachelle neck-deep in trouble that goes all the way to the top. I’m the only one who can keep her secret safe, but my protection comes with a price.

I want everything from Sachelle, and I’m going to get it any way I can. She says it’s blackmail. I say seduction.

Either way, I win.

We back in this world!!! Its been a while since l read anything from this series and I really enjoyed this one wayy more then the last book. We have drama suspence and some steamy moments.

Jakob... LORD THIS MAN!!! even when he was cold and grump towards Sachelle (for good reason) he made me melt with the way he held himself dirty talking growly alpha. He knew right away Sachelle was his but he knew she was mixing herself up with a bad crowd to save her cousin. And he didnt enjoy it so he takes matter into his own hands ;). Lady Sachelle i really liked her she wasnt whiney she held her own she had a plan even if she didn't have all the info she tried her best to get it. But she has a love/hate relationship with Jakob who follows/stalks her, she starts questioning her choices in who to trust. And let me tell you when Jakob "blackmails" her he is doing it for her own good.

So much twist and turns who to trust and the drama was so good!! But the steam!!! 💦💦
Hands down the little fake "ill give you pleasure" scene that turned into a spanking for Sachelle lorddd 🔥🔥🔥 ugh that man I swear.

We also got some past couples and characters and new ones also KING MARRYING WHO???

No ow/om drama, No cheating, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins no manwhore

I am so in love with this series and this intriguing world of modern day royals that Brianna Hale has created. Blackmailing His Bride is a high suspense and incredibly sexy story that should not be missed. Jakob and Sachelle are a scorching hot duo that skirt the line between lust and hate and I loved every minute of it.

"He seems to think this is a game. Cat and mouse. He chases, I run. Now that he's got me pinned down, he wants to play with me a little."

The world building in this series is fantastic, and the intrigue of the Court of Parvel and its inhabitants gets more intense as the books go on. This story was definitely higher in action and suspense than the previous two books, and I think the author really excels at writing these high intensity scenes. There was a lot going on in the storyline but it did not take away from the two main characters whose sizzling chemistry made for some fabulous scenes, both in and outside of the bedroom. Jakob was everything I hoped he would be: formidable, dominant, dirty-talking, and completely consumed with Sachelle. Their interactions were so entertaining and when they came together intimately, they were practically on fire.

"I'm becoming obsessed with Sachelle Balzac. I'll unravel her one little piece at a time until I've found a way to make her mine forever."

The pacing of the plot was excellent, and the danger and suspense elements were well written. The sex was beyond hot and the development of Sachelle and Jakob's relationship felt real. I also loved seeing the characters from the previous books again. We got a short preview of what the next book will look like, and I am so excited for what's to come.

Jakob Rasmussen is the head of the City Guard and his loyalty to the King is undeniable. With long time friendships and alliances, Jakob is a principled man. Upon first seeing Lady Sachelle Balzac, Jakob admires her, but when she begins to get involved in certain groups putting her safety is at risk, he is ready to protect her despite her wishes.

“Do some hard thinking about your loyalties, Lady Sachelle. I’ll be watching you.”

Narrated in dual POV, Jakob has an intensity in that he is very protective and commanding without apology. Though Sachelle is young and pretty, she also believes strongly in certain ideals and wants to make Paravel a better place. Together, they have a push-pull that infuriates her but she can’t help to be attracted to Jakob’s alpha tendencies. Plus, Jakob will use any advantage he may have to prove himself to Sachelle.

“Right there. Nice and deep. That’s what you need, isn’t it?”

From the beginning of this series, I was interested in Jakob’s backstory and how he formed longstanding friendships. I like that Jakob is a loyal friend and that he likes Sachelle to be a dirty girl. Though Sachelle is a member of the First Families, she doesn’t act like she is entitled like others.

Blackmailing His Bride is a steamy romance steeped in instalove and action in a contemporary royals setting.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone Book 3 of Court of Paravel series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

For years Jakob Rasmussen dedicated his life to serving his country. When Lady Sachelle Balzac entangled herself with some questionable people, he used the opportunity to his own advantage.

I thought Jakob was such a bastard in past books but his hardness intrigued me. I liked learning about his past and how it shaped him. Sachelle knew her priorities and not afraid to fight for them.

I liked how this one had the most action in the series so far. It made the story more interesting. Mr. Rasmussen was one dirty man and made sex scenes scorching.

Jakob drives two fingers deep into my pussy and pumps them slowly in and out of me.
“Does that feel good, little fox? Does that feel like I despise you?”

Blackmailing His Bride is a story of taking control of one’s desires. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Note:
I like calling him Mr. Rasmussen. It just makes it extra naughty 😆.

Wow and wow!!!!

I had the absolute time of my life devouring this baby I really didn't want it to end. I loved Jakob and I loved Sachelle even more.
Both of them were made for eachother and you could feel their chemistry was insanely explosive.

It feels fantastic to finally get lost in a story and do not wanna come up for air. This one was a long awaited one and trust me it is worth it. It packs everything so perfectly and you want more more more.

Thank you so much Brianna Hale for a fantastic reading time.

Seems like every book keeps getting better and better. Sachelle and Jakob are scorching hot here but there is more action and suspense that kept me on edge. You need to read the previous books before this one as it all makes more sense if it's read in order. The world keeps getting more intricate and I love being able to escape to what the author has created here.

It's been a long time since the last book from Court of Paravel and I was really excited when this was finally announced.
This was Jakob's story who was sort of the villain from book two and I was really curious to see what he was all about and was really curious to see how he'd be with Sachelle who was another character seen in passing from the second book.
Whereas the previous books were more focused on the royal family this had a shift towards what life is like outside of the kingdom walls and it was really interesting to see more of that.
As far as the couple goes, I loved the back and forth that went on between them and the steamy moments that Brianna delivers perfectly. I'm really sad that there's only one book left but I'm curious to see how everything mentioned before will come to fruition when Daddy Issues drops!

"I opened my mouth to tell him to move back and he kisses me. The intimacy takes my breath away.so does the sweetness. A man like him shouldn't kiss like this witj so much sensitivity and control"

This series is so much fun to read!!
The hot men, the spicy women
And the wonderful writing
This book us about YAKOV – head of the king security, an man who is a strong foundation to king Anson's regime and the one who has been his eyes and ears through all the years of imprisonment – his heart was always with the right people and his loyalty was in the right place
Only when he meets SACHELL he learns that although he has been through so much – life can still surprise him
She becomes his number one priority
She is his whether she likes it or not and he will protect her
Even if it means lying to his king
SACHELL has a good sense of justice
She believes the republic was bad for the people but still the monarchy does wrongs that must be changed
She must save someone who was undutifully arrested
But out of good intentions and true ideas she finds herself miw=xes with the wrong people and her life is in danger
This is a story about two people that society would never mix, about natural enemies that find that their hearts are in the same place and that the heating outside is nothing compares to the one they have for each other and about interests that turn into devotion
Did I mention I love this series? and that Jakob gives a good fight to my crush on Devrim??

5 fucking perfect stars like Mr. Rasmussen

Okay, what I feel is like too much.
Blackmailing his bride is the third book in the Court of Paravel series. The first two are amazing and really beautiful, but bro, this book, Jakob and Sachelle’s book is just amazing.

To begin with, the plot is great, I mean, in each book it becomes more interesting because Brianna takes us deeper and deeper into the dark secrets of various characters when they fought for Paravel to become a fair and free country again.

Then there is the connection between the characters *AAAAAA* this is my favorite thing, I always look for Brianna’s books because she manages the connection between the characters in a surprising way, she manages that the relationship does not become boring. It is simply perfect. And the thing between Jakob and Sachelle is pure fire, but serious fire. Most of the book is in a tug of war because Sachelle does not want to pay attention to how she feels about Jakob, in addition to the fact that she tries to hate him for what is happening in the story. And Jakob can’t stop thinking about her, he watches her all the time, takes care of her, adores her in a way that makes me want to cry, in addition to what Jakob does for her at THAT moment ♥️ I love him with all my heart.

Brianna’s books are a damn erotic work of art, gripping, sometimes painful and magnificent.✨

Pd. I need the fourth book like right now, no really, I tormented Brianna on social media telling her about the couple from the fourth book. But I have already read the epilogue about 8 times. Lord, I’m sure that book is going to be my downfall. That is going to be the daddy of my life.

This is the third entry in the Court of Paravel series. Each book can be read as a standalone. Just keep in mind that characters do reappear and previous events are referenced throughout the series. The book is well written, the storyline engaging and it reads smoothly and easily. An enticing blend of suspense, emotion, steam, drama, action, tension, intensity and emotions. Because I have read the previous two books I had some preconceived notions about Jakob. Boy, did they get blown right out of the water! I fell so hard for this heroic, hot, loyal and fiercely determined man. Add in his dirty talk, protectiveness and willingness to dispense a bit of discipline if he thinks it is needed and he had me swooning!! As for Sachelle, I'll be honest and say that to start, (and for a large portion of the book) I really didn't like her. Personally, I thought she was too bratty and spoiled. Parts of her story should have made me like her more. However, sometimes I felt her actions did not reconcile with reasonings. I understood that she was emotionally torn in two different directions but it still bugged me. In the end I liked her but it took most of the book to get there. Despite that though, there was no denying the sparks and chemistry that blazed between these two and their intimate scenes were sizzling. This book sets up the next book and boy am I intrigued. Can't to be able to dive back into this series ASAP!! This is my unsolicited, unbiased review.

Blackmailing His Bride is the 3rd book in the Court of Paravel series by Brianna Hale. Each book is about a different couple. This book is about Lady Sachelle Balzac and Jakob Rasmussen. This story is about a man obsessed with a woman and how he's determined to make her his no matter what, including using blackmail to get her . This royal romance is steamy, sizzling, intense, twisted, dark, gripping, raw, and explosive. This has an age-gap, forbidden romance, hero obsessed with heroine, hero using whatever he needed (i.e. blackmail) to get heroine as his, explosive chemistry, great characters, amazing plot, past characters make appearances, seriously smoking AF 🚬 sexual tension and the passion that comes from it, twists, turns and amazing HEA. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

My Rating: 4.7 stars *********

I have enjoyed this series very much.
In Blackmailing his Bride, Jakob and Sachelle are not from the same social circle. Her family frowns upon mingling with common folk.
Jakob has fought tooth and nail to get Paravel to where it is today.
These are very strong characters that are absolutely right for each other. But being strong also means very pig headed.
It all works out in the end.

Ugh I don’t know how many times I need to say it but authors need to stop labeling sneak peeks into the next book as the “epilogue”. That’s not an epilogue and it’s such a let down and so annoying. This book would’ve been a 3-4 star if there had been a real epilogue. The h and H weren’t even IN the epilogue.

Jakob is one of the king's guards and has never asked for anything until he meets Sachelle. Sachelle is a young woman mixing with the wrong people. She's also strong willed and not afraid to face anyone. The two are pure fire together. This is a sexy, steamy read that I recommend.

Our hero, Jakob Rasmussen, is the King’s Head of Security. I didn’t like him in the previous books but he redeemed himself in this one. I loved his controlled demeanour, his infatuation with lady Sachelle, and his protectiveness. Lady Sachelle was badass. I enjoyed her feistiness and how strong willed she was. The bdsm was so hot, I loved their chemistry. They were so hot together. Brianna Hale did it again, with another explosive couple!

As the series continues we learn more about Paravel and its crazy history. We find out the integral part Jacob played in the revolution. We are introduced to new characters. I can’t wait to read about Devrim’s brother, Galen and Matilda. And more from King Anson.

Find out why I gave the both books in the series 5 stars. Devrim's Court (also known as Devrim's Discipline) 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒 and Breaking Her In 𝙍𝙀𝙑𝙄𝙀𝙒

ARC Review

An intriguing, action-packed and angsty book to set your insides on fire!

‘Blackmailing His Bride’ by Brianna Hale is the third book in her ‘Court of Paravel’ series.
The books in the series should be read in order to get the full, immersive experience but each book is about a different couple.

This story is a one of a kind love story about secrets, betrayals and fierce loyalty and love.
I am absolutely in love and completely intrigued by this world full of royals that are set in their ways, sassy and bad*ss women that don’t let rules stop them and their growly and overprotective men.

Having read the previous book, I couldn’t wait to see what Jakob Rassmussen’s past and present had to hold and just how his story would evolve and change.

This book had me constantly on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was coming next and what these characters would have to go through to get their HEA.
This is one h*ll of a journey that will consume you and corrupt you in the best kinds of ways!

Sachelle is this incredible and strong woman that knows not to back down or stop fighting for what she believes is right and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty in order to get results.
She is brave and resourceful, a sassy woman that just stands out from the crowd with her incredible personality and intelligence.
Sachelle is a lovely character that will always put a grin on your face and have you cheering her on out loud time and again.

Jakob is the most caveman, over-protective, stubborn and handsome A-hole you’ll ever meet and yet you’ll be confessing your love for him in zero to no time.
He is incredible at his job, astute, determined and focused, always trying to do better and be better for the people that need him.
Jakob is the kind of man you fall for despite all the times you want to hit him; with his handsome looks and dirty words and pure heart he will have no problem stealing your heart right out of your chest.

Their relationship is one that starts crazy and end even crazier, a unique love story filled with angst and hatred but fuelled by passion and love nonetheless.

I thoroughly enjoyed being part of their incredible journey and unearthing and discovering both their pasts but also the secrets that still haunt Paravel.

If you are looking for a sweet, angsty and powerful romance that will have your heart pounding and your underwear melting, THIS IS IT!
And if your are looking for your next obsession with a good dose of sassiness and a side of k*nkiness then go and start this series now!

Brianna Hale has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Sachelle and Jakob. Sachelle has gotten in with the wrong crowd. Her cousin Briar has gotten put in jail for speaking her mind and Sachelle is trying to get her out. Tieman, the leader of the group wants her to get the blueprints to the palace and she is caught. Jakob is the head of security and now is watching her. Things happen between them and he wants her. Someone has sent her an audio file and pictures. When she sees these, she thinks that it is Jakob. She goes to see Jakob and tells him that she is not going to let him get away with it. She tells him to do what he wants with the pictures because that will be the only way for him to see her again. She goes home to tell her father what she has done. Jakob looks at the pictures and plays the audio and he knows after hearing the audio that no one can help Sachelle if they get out. He goes to her home and is just in time to stop her telling her father. Instead, he tells her father that they were engaged. Her father doesn't like Jakob at all and tries to talk her out of marrying him. Someone is after Sachelle and tries to kill her. Jakob put security on her after that and she is not happy with that. Jabok tells her that he will find out who is after her. There are things that Sachelle finds out that make her think that she has made a mistake in trusting Tieman and she now has cut ties with the group.
Will Sachelle change her mind about Jakob?
Can Jakob keep Sachelle safe?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Nobody had to blackmail me to read this book. I submitted so very willingly.

What's more, I reserved one day exclusively for it because I wanted to savour every word without any perky interruptions. Guess what, I had my way! And it was glorious :-D

This royal tale will suck you in and drown you in juicy naughtiness. Even in my excitement, I was not expecting so much goodness. A spirited woman, a relentless man, a crafty and suspenseful plot with social depth, and all kinds of action. Superb!

Espionage and historical edge blend with two characters who combust together in the third book in the Paravel series. Head of Security, Jakob Rasmussen, grows in intensity, moral scope and heroic origins. I couldn't be prouder of him. The backstory scenes are truly engaging. What backbone. And how imaginative. Then, Sachelle is a lady with good intentions, greater courage, smart and committed, who ends up tangled in too many threads.

Treason, dangerous rendezvouz, machinations and political riot line her entanglement with a man who arouses as much as he dominates. It's all so riveting and fascinating.

I enjoyed their fiery interactions and bold passion. Finding out so much about Paravel's people and history captivated me because it happened through thrilling events. And the drama took me by surprise. It was tough and emotional, and it really sealed the couple's stormy affair and the country's upheaval in the most powerful way. So much detail in wrapping up everything, and such a hard-won reward for the characters.

I adored this story. And that epilogue? It left me reeling. I'm already feeling the withdrawal from this world. Give me more!

Blackmailing His Bride by Brianna Hale is the third book in her Court of Paravel series ft. the crazy antics of the royals in a recently upheaved country. The first book—Devrim's Court—was a primarily a Daddy book (though on the lighter end of the spectrum), the second book, Breaking Her In, was a delicious enemies to lovers, lower class/upper class situation that involved a lot of hate-based make out sessions.  I waited impatiently for Book 3 because blackmail + obsessed hero + heroine doing her best attempt at being a secret agent and kind of failing at it sounded right up my alley.

And it was.

There is something so alluring about a hero who is madly, madly in love with a heroine who is totally ignorant of his feelings for her until he literally blackmails her into acknowledging them.  Not sure why...but I love it. Jakob is only blackmailing Sachelle into dating him because he wants her so, so badly and she won’t give him the time of day. I mean, can you blame him? I loved that such a tough, hard-working, rather cold individual had absolutely no shame in pursuing the heroine and letting his feelings be known.

Sachelle was the kind of heroine you love, but whom you also want to beat over the head with a stick for refusing to go on a date with the handsome, arrogant hero. I mean, come on girl. Put aside those feelings of independence and righteousness and just hop into bed with him. But, of course, what sort of romance novel would we have if everything went swimmingly straight from the beginning? I loved that Sachelle wanted to do the right thing—however misguided—and that Jakob didn’t want to stifle her beliefs, but rather keep her safe in spite of them.

If you want a book rife with conflict, scenes of questionable morality, and hot elevator fingering scenes...well, can I introduce you to Blackmailing His Bride? Because it’s beyond what my expectations were for a book that involved blackmailing someone into loving them.

Paravel keeps getting better and better.

”if you run, I’ll chase you”, he whispers, gathering me closer. “If you cry, I’ll wipe your tears. If you fall, I’ll pick you up. It’s as simple as that.”

Jakob Rasmussen is one heck of a douche to begin with. Many times I wanted to slap him silly, but as the story leads on and secrets unfold, a tender-more gentler side embarks, making my heart yearn for him. He is dominant, sext as sin, protective and oh so wicked with moves in the bedroom.
Paired together with Sachelle Balzac, not the average royal family member, one who dreams of a different Paravel like her cousin Briar. With her running in the shadows of what she “thinks” is helping to save the court and King Anson, little does she know she is on the cusp of something dangerous... Enter Jakob.

The angst of back and forth between these two characters was off the charts hot! I enjoyed the suspense and the mystery behind Briar plus the added thrill of tid bits that Brianna Hale put in during a scene that led you to think something drastic was about to happen.

Really enjoyed this addition and I can’t wait for Matilda and Galen. I can feel the second chance and tension flying off the pages there.

Blackmailing His Bride by Brianna Hale is the third book in her Paravel series, and it scorched my reader and sucked me in from start to finish!

Jakob is one HECK of a grumpy growly dreamboat, and I thoroughly enjoyed his single tracked focus on what he wanted, and how he'd do anything, ANYTHING, to make that happen.

Oh Sachelle! Feisty, fiery, opinionated, yet also a dreamer, someone who cares deeply, and full of loyalty.

The tension is palpable, the chemistry dazzling and reactive! And the SHMEKSHAY times? I'm still a melted puddle of goo over it, and have zero regrets about how deliciously dirty it was and how much I enjoyed each moment of it!

Seriously, if you're looking for an action packed story with romance, thrills, deception, seduction, and a delicious dash of blackmail, then this book is the one for you! I know you'll love it, and in the meantime, I'm going to go ahead and drool over Jakob some more, and remind myself of why elevators are cool. You know you want to know why too!

P. S. So...Anson...and Remus...I need MORE!

P. P. S. Galen? Matilda? So many breadcrumbs! I'm just trying to find my way to the next delightful story!

When I began reading this story, I wasn't loving Jakob and his behaviour. I did love Sachelle and her fiery nature. She pushes him back even though he constantly tries to pull her in. I felt that he was manipulative in his interactions with Sachelle and forcing himself and a relationship onto her. It wasn't until later that I realised that he really did care about Sachelle. He was just pushy and controlling in the way he expressed it. I think this was because it was the only way he knew how to express himself. There was more to him than meets the eye and after one incident I feared that he might not get the ending he deserved. Just like Sachelle, we the readers didn't have the whole story and someone who was supposed to be friend was in fact foe. I loved the glimpses of the other characters from the previous stories and how they are doing. I also loved the peek at new ones and their potential stories. But still my favourite is King Anson. I love him and cannot wait to read his story.

I very much enjoyed the world building in this book and the steamy scenes between Jakob and Sachelle. I will admit this is my first book by this author, so I'm coming to this in the middle of the series. I'm definitely going back to read the first two. This was a stand alone, but at the same time it took me a bit to understand the setting, however you don't need to read prior books to understand these characters and their story.

Jakob is the head of security and the first few times we see him I wasn't sure how I felt about him, but as the story got going, he became a very protective, take charge hero, and was just what I was looking for in a read right now. I liked that Sachelle had some backbone and at times stood up to him, but I also liked that she wasn't annoying and fighting with him just to fight. This is definitely a steamy read with a bit of kink.

Looking forward to reading more in this series!
