Barrier to Learning is the eigth book in A Glennon Normal Historical Mystery series by R. A. Wallace.
HOW IS IT STILL SEPTEMBER AFTER 8 BOOKS???? It defies plausibility that all of this has occured over the course of just one month. For starters because each mystery Delia has come across has been solved over the course of several days. And how does SO MUCH happen in one dinky, little town over the course of one damn month? Okay...I'll move on.
Still no resolution to the mystery that has carried through the series. I had thought that this perhaps would have been the last book in the series and so was expecting a resolution, but it seems that instead some plot points are now starting to be explored.
This felt like more of a filler book in the series, that not much was progressed plot-wise. But a major aspect of this book is the pandemic of 1918, and it is surreal to be reading about something so parrell to what is happening now. I'll be reading the next book in the series and hope to see more progression in the big mystery from the series. _____
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited membership
2922 bk 292. With each new tale I feel like I have to hold my breath waiting for the next little clue to drop - and see if I spot it. This book is a reminder of how gossip can be used so effectively as a weapon - and a weapon that many discount, until it seemingly becomes fact. Well done.
This story has wrapped me into 1918 and the lives of people facing a world war as well as a pandemic. As we feel our lives have been turned upside down during our own pandemic I now realize my grandparents had faced these issues during a much more turbulent time. I am now looking at this time with greater attention and appreciation of what they were going through. Thank you R A Wallace for for this wildly complex, intriguing, well written series!!
This book didn’t solve any mysteries. At least not according to the characters. The books are free with my Amazon subscription. I would be seriously pissed if it wasn’t.
