It’s fun, it’s silly, it’s endearing. Book 3 sets us up for a dramatic finale in installment 4. But what I really wonder is “Will we find out what happened to Xander Blair?”

Alexis Blair is having a bad day and it just might be time to start over in a new place. She had just been fired from her book publishing job and broke up with her boyfriend, so there is nothing to keep her in Boston. She has always wanted to open a bookstore of her own, and the lovely small seaside town will be perfect.

When a man comes in to find a rare book and offers $50,000, it is strange. Yet Montgomery turns the offer down. Alexis remained silent, though, until she had a chance to ask him why. And it was even stranger, when the man ends up dead! What was so important about that book? Who killed Mr. Sloane and why?

The author kept me busy guessing about the murderer all the way through as I waited for the big reveal! The story moved along at the perfect pace and I enjoyed the characters we meet. I am definitely looking forward to the next adventure!

This is the third “The Witching Place” novel. Alexis Blair continues working at “A Curious Bookstore”. She’s taking a day off as her mother is coming to town to visit. However, after her mother arrives and tells Lex that she is staying at the local hotel, Lex drops her mother up and she stops by the bookstore for just a few minutes. While she is there, a stranger comes in and offers quite a bit of money to Montgomery for a rare book. He refuses the sale, so the stranger says he’ll be back. Alexis ultimately talks her boss into selling the book, and the stranger also asks to buy a rare clock. Now I ask you, what does a rare book and. Clock have in common?
But wait, trouble is brewing…the stranger is found dead. And, the book and click have disappeared.
Yet another good cozy read.

The Witching Place: A Perilous Page (A Curious Bookstore Cozy Mystery — Book 3)— Sophie Love/Narrator: Valarie Falken (32 chapters) July 11, 2023

This continues the same thread as the last book, when a strange man comes to the bookstore wanting a rare book (is it the same one from the last book? — hmm.)

He, of course, if turned down. When he comes back again and gets turned down he ends up dead.

A subplot involves Alexis finding clues about her dad. Was he mixed up in something too? Was it related to a rare book?

I am liking this series with a great narrator.
It reads fast.

Three stars.

I've been listening to the audiobook version--I bought the whole series. I'm not 100% convinced that it isn't read aloud by a bot. The delivery and flat and monotonous with a lot of mispronounced words.
I want to like these books for beaing cute and seaside witchy, but the protagonist is not very likable and kind of clueless/stupid, but somehow always seems to catch the murderer when the police can't. I'm in this far, so I will listen to the last and final book in the series. I'm hoping I'll find out what happened to her dad, but at this point I'm just hate listening and I want it to be over.

This book was better than the 2nd one. At least Alexis is getting a few answers. There are still inconsistencies that are hard to overlook. Montgomery asks Alexis to find the book that was taken after the buyer was murdered. She agrees to help. The whole issue with this is she has never seen the book nor been given a description of it. How does she know what to look for? Just any old book in a town with several rare book collectors? I will listen to the next one because I bought 4 together as a bundle.

A small coastal town and a dead body. A great cozy mystery. Lex is constantly trying to find out what the truth is. She keeps tripping over dead people. Why is Mr. Sloan dead and what is so important about the missing book?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

there's a pretty clear-set formula three books into the series where the culprit tends to be suspicious outsider #45, which made it easy for me to figure out who the murderer was not that long into the book. still, the charm of the series isn't really in having a huge twist of a mystery, but more in the atmosphere of its setting. this book still delivers on that front.

This series is fun! I think this might have been my favorite so far, but maybe it's just because I'm used to the characters now. I still get mad at them sometimes, haha... making bad choices and such. But that is to be expected in these types of tales. I've already bough book four and am looking forward to solving more mysteries. :)

Another Good Novel

Opportunities, relationships, and family, what more can one ask for? Lex is on another adventure with her sometimes irritating personality, but fitting for this series. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series!!

Very cute and the twists were unexpected! Although I will say I’m getting tired of the constant murder scenario is Alexis keeps getting herself into lmao.

This series is fun and silly and engaging. I really like them. They don’t take up too much brain power but it’s still a little bit to think about and have fun reading

Another good read in this series. It’s still cute, and has mystery with a sprinkle of romance in it. Makes me want to read the next book.
