Shivering: Heating Up the Global Warming Debate

Rate this book
Is global warming real… or is an Ice Age coming? Grab a blanket, sit close to the fire. We are definitely headed into another ice age. Take a look inside Shivering and see why the conventional wisdom about climate change is wrong. Dr. Richard Klein, a Renaissance thinker and professor of Mechanical Engineering, has spent nearly 50 years researching and refining his ground-breaking theory of global climate change causation. His intriguing conclusions will leave you nodding your head, thinking “This finally makes sense!” Using mathematics, his deep grasp of engineering principles, and his knowledge of closed-loop feedback systems, Dr. Klein will show asking about man-made climate change is asking the wrong questionWhy extraterrestrial arguments are flawedWhy sunspots aren’t an issueHow the Earth itself controls the climateThis thought-provoking book is bound to raise eyebrows and create controversy, and is worth reading to keep informed and up-to-date on this hot-button topic. A science-based inquiry into the Biblical account of Noah and the Great Flood. Now with updated material that incorporates new glacial causation theories and fresh thinking on the topic.

Informative and intellectually challenging proposition on climate change

The author's theoretical propositions are one potential cause of climate change but by no means the only theory that should be considered. I found the tone of the book condescending and unnecessarily demeaning of climate scientists and the general non-scientific public. However, I did appreciate the detailed explanation as to how a closed-loop system could explain the Earth's climate cycles. I had already been introduced to albedo, glacial oscillation, and other climate facets presented in the book. Therefore, this book refined my understanding of those concepts. Prior to reading this book, I was not aware of Lake Nyos or the degassing disaster that had occurred. In my quick follow-up research, several other lakes have experienced the same overturning. I also appreciated the matter-of-fact manner in which certain topics were addressed. This book doesn't settle the climate debate for me but it does expand my perspective and further supports that the science is far from settled.

This book is a must read for anyone concerned about climate change. The author, a retired Engineering Prof. and expert on feed back systems, has looked at the record from Ice Core Analysis and Deep Ocean Sediment Analysis. These studies reveal the earth has a long cycle feedback loop (100,000 years per cycle for the last 500,000 years) that causes rapid heating and then slow cooling. His studies indicate we are near the top of the warming part of the cycle and soon will enter a long slide into a cool down. His arguments have some deep scientific truths regarding thermodynamics and complex feedback systems presented in an easy to read fashion. The author adds supplementary material in which he shows how God has demonstrated a benevolent concern for his creation including man and this earth. Read it if you want to learn how the earth works.

Theory is Interesting

Theory is definitely interesting and makes a lot of sense, but writing is redundant and often fails to find the balance between easy, enjoyable reading and scientific theory. He often repeats himself which just felt like wasteful writing.

A few reveiws gave the writer poor reviews because he is not a climatalogist, but I don't think it matters because he is background is advance pattern recognition, and that is exactly what his findings are about and of which he tries to find causes for. It's also a different perspective in a field that might need an outsider interpretation.
