Synopsis:
Makayla Evans is a senior financial analyst for Syntec Pharmaceuticals. She lost her parents, her only family, at eighteen. Now at twenty-five-years of age, she loves having a challenging job and a therapist to go with it. She’s on the trail of an offshore account where suspicious activity is going on, and that’s when she’s taken off the scene.

Kellan James got an assignment to protect three researchers in La Isla Azul, located off the Costa Rican coast, from the Latin American drug cartel. Along with his buddies Adam Sinclair and Grant McAlister, he’s enjoying a quiet island life when the person who gave him this job assigns him another. After spending about a month in the idyllic island, he never expected to rescue a barely alive woman in Mexico.

Review:
A delicious tale of dark pharma, and the consequences an employee has to face when she stumbles upon a dark secret. The story moves quickly and in a gripping way. And it has one of the most beautiful endings.

Thirty-year-old Kellan has his own demons to slay after his last tour of duty as a marine in Afghanistan. Still, he can’t help but feel protective of Makayla. I loved it the way the author made her characters work through their trauma. Maybe it isn’t realistic, but in the event of no other or outside help on the island, it was what seemed good. This is my first read by Robin Huber and I can’t wait to read other books of hers.

This book is so nerdy and I loved it! And atmospheric too. What with all the greenery and the blue island and waterfalls which are so scenic, this was a perfect escape. Even though the idyllic island setting is bliss, but there’s the undercurrent of something bad about to happen.

The references to Twilight and Jurassic Park made this story feel like home. The book is mostly based on the island, which comes with its joys and dangers. The story kept me hooked right until the very end. And what do I say about the ending! I always want a drawn-out ending but I rarely get them. This one had it though! A beautiful conclusion spread over two long chapters.

Thank you to InkSlinger PR for an e-ARC of the book.

Makayla Evans was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not only was she kidnapped and thought her life was over, she tragically witnessed the murder of her friend. She discovers something terrible about her employer, Marc Spencer, and this causes a terrible rippling effect. Not only has she disappeared, she experiences grave injuries that almost cost her life.

Kellan James is a former marine and works private security. When Makayla's best friend Callie's husband Derek calls upon friend and fellow security expert to track her down. It might seem an impossible task, but Kellan does locate Makayla, and not a moment too soon. He whisks her to a Costa Rica island, called The Blue Island. This mostly hidden island is not only known for its beauty, but also for its privacy. Thus Kellan plans on keeping Makayla there safe from harm, at least until they can bring Marc Spencer to justice.

Makayla is traumatized, but there is just something so special about Kellan that helps her on the road to recovery. While danger might not be far behind, Makayla not only begins to feel a sense of security, but her and Kellan draw ever closer together, soon finding love despite the myriad of obstacles that face them.

I absolutely loved this book! I love romantic suspense. While the book leaned more on the romance blooming between Kellan and Makayla, the ever-present danger was never forgotten. Danger was there both near and far, and I loved how protective Kellan was throughout everything they faced. I also loved the friendship and camaraderie that was between people on Kellan's team, as well as some of the people on the island. This wonderful story carried itself well from beginning to end, and had a touching conclusion.

Many thanks to Robin Huber and to InkSlinger PR for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I had the pleasure of reading this book when it was written, before it was picked up by a publisher and revised into the magnificent story it is today. I love it then, and I love it even more now. Robin has a way of drawing you into the story and making you feel like you are experiencing life alongside her characters. Makayla and Kellans love story will take you on the most engaging, exciting, and thrilling roller coaster. This is by far my favorite book that she has written and will be a story I reread for years to come. I feel grateful to have been given the opportunity to read this book before its release.

Kellan is requested by an old friend to do private security on The Blue Island for a team of scientists. As a former Marine, it is a dream job until the same friend requests that he and his Marine buddies track down his wife's best friend who has been kidnapped. Makayla did not expect her whole entire world to be turned upside down when she went into work and discovered her employer is involved in the pharmaceutical black market. Makayla is kidnapped and wakes up in a Central American desert where she believes her life is over until a bunch of former Marines save her. Hiding on a remote island with a handsome man can not be all that bad. Until the danger comes lurking back.

Into the Blue is a suspensefully romantic page-turner that you will not want to put down. Robin Huber is a new to me author and I am happy that I was able to discover her books. I loved this story, the romantic times between Kellan and Makayla had me wanting to jet off to a remote island. The underlying suspense had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. There were some unexpected twists to the story which made it even more interesting. I can not wait to dive into more books by Robin Huber.

Okay, first...how about this amazing gorgeous cover!? If this book cover doesn't put you in the mod for a relaxing vacation by the ocean, I don't know what will!

This book was so hard to put down! It started on a very suspenseful note and just keep getting better and better as the romance heated up between the main characters. I would highly recommend this book for fans of romantic suspense with a lot of steam.

Makayla Evans, 25, is a successful senior analyst at Syntec, a pharmaceutical giant. But when she discovers that Syntec has an illegal connection to dark pharma and the drug cartel in Mexico, her life is forever changed. After the corrupt CEO Mark Spenser finds out, Makayla is fired on the spot. In moments, she is violently kidnapped and drugged, waking up later in a very dangerous place in the hands of an even more dangerous drug lord. Luckily for Makayla, she is rescued by a retired Marine who works private security for her best friend's husband, Derek. Her tall, dark, and handsome rescuer is 30 year old Kellan James. Kellan's childhood was rough and nontraditional, living in foster homes until he was 18. But after a few tours of duty in Afghanistan, he's grown into a man of great honor and love for his fellow Marines and friends.

Injured and scared, Makayla is whisked away to La Isla Azul (The Blue Island) in Costa Rica, where Derek and two other retired Marines are keeping a doctor and his team safe from the drug cartel. With Kellan's attentive care and encouragement, Makayla faces her PTSD from her kidnapping and assault, and soon becomes comfortable with the beautiful island. Kellan and the other doctors and Marines become a family to Makayla, which means so much since she lost her parents in a car crash when she was 18. Who could have known that the greatest nightmare of her life would end with her meeting Kellan and falling in love in a literal paradise on Earth. But even in paradise, danger is just one step away. Makayla wasn't ever meant to escape the drug cartel, and they plan to find her no matter where she tries to hide.

Buckle up for a wild ride - you won't regret it! Huber's story is suspenseful, sexy, steamy, and romantic. But perhaps the thing I loved the most was the atmospheric descriptions of Costa Rica with its beautiful island lagoons, crystal clear blue water, and breathtaking views. This is a perfect escape read!

OH MY GOD!! Yes!! Okay, so let me start by saying this is the first time I have read any books by Robin Huber however it won't be the last! Holy Batman!! My heart! What an emotional rollercoaster ah!

Makayla Evans works in a pharmaceutical company, however when she stumbles upon some paperwork that leads her to be kidnapped, witnessing her best friends murder and going through some traumatic events herself (see triggers at the end of this review). Makayla ends up being rescued by Kellan James, an ex-marine. While recovering on the island, Makayla learns how to come to terms with her PTSD, her current situation and her new feelings for her rescuer. Also, how to bring Marc (her old boss and the person responsible for all this "mess") to justice.

I loved this book! I mean seriously sitting on the edge of the chair, forgetting about my hot cup of tea I just made, captivating! Yip! Now that's how seriously invested I was in this story. The characters were well developed, the storyline was fast-paced and captivating. The secondary characters were amazing (ps Robin, I need a book about Adam and Mia now!) This book has a dual POV which was perfect because there are a lot of emotions and sensitive subjects being tiptoed around, it was amazing to get an insight into Makayla's and Kellan's mind.
Genuinely I can't fault this book anywhere. The descriptions were amazing, I genuinely felt like I was on this paradise of a beach and not in a raining, cold Ireland. The mixture of suspense and romance was perfect. How Robin could write such tragic events with such empathy and passion was amazing. Genuinely, that alone shows what a talented writer she is. Within such a hard storyline, Robin brought paradise to these characters.

I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it.

Thank you to inkslinger for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying...how gorgeous is the cover for this book?! I don’t know how to explain it, but it gave me all sorts of warm fuzzy feelings when I was staring at it. Maybe I’m just desperate for a vacation in these COVID times, but the cover just pulled me in.

This book is all kinds of romantic. Shocker, eh? I mean, it’s a romance book after all! But I’m serious here, it’s REALLY romantic. There’s an important suspense aspect in this book, but when I wasn’t being pulled into that part of the plot, and I was really pulled in, I was totally swooning over the hero, Kellan. He’s this amazing guy. He has some baggage, but he isn’t a giant douchebag who keeps pushing the heroine, Mackayla, away. He’s so sweet and protective, but still gives off this ridiculous alpha hero aura. I’m kinda swooning on him right now.

The backdrop of this book is a secluded, exotic Island off the coast of Costa Rica, and it makes that whole romance thing a whole lot more...well, romantic! If I close my eyes, I can picture Kellan in a banana leaf loin cloth with glistening tanned skin. He actually wears pants or shorts in the book, but the banana leaf adds a little pizzaz to the hot island sexy times.

Ok, enough about my inappropriate fantasies of a fictional character. This book has all the ingredients of an amazing romantic suspense book. There’s spine tingling action, great characters that you really care about, and decadent love scenes that adds some other tingling, just not in your spine. Wink wink.

Robin Huber hit it out of the park with this book. I gobbled it up in one sitting. I ignored my family, and threw some cereal at them for dinner because I didn’t want to put it down. I really loved the last few chapters. Once the bad guys were taken of, it was so nice to have some page time with Mackayla and Kellan where they didn’t have this heavy weight on their shoulders. It was pure joy seeing what the future held for them. I was swooning...again!

This book was so not what I was expecting! I was interested because Makayla (love her name) is working for a pharmaceutical company that she is in the dark pharma world - which is fascinating to me, because I work for a drug monitoring program. So I was in when reading the blurb.

The dark pharma world is just the tip of the iceberg! Although it's how Makayla ends up getting swept up into this whole thing - which is a little terrifying to be honest because it wouldn't surprise me if this was something that could happen. Plus it brings Kellan into her life and he was exactly what she needed at the time that Makayla needed him.

This story had highs and lows and everything in between. This was a wild ride from beginning to end and I was sucked in from the beginning!

You got a little of everything from suspense to a roller coaster of a ride. I loved the characters and I loved the descriptions Robin used. This is the first book I have read by her but it won't be the last.

Definitely falls into the quick sexy read category. I couldn’t get through the pages fast enough! Makayla works with her best friends husband. Unfortunately she gets caught up in a messy situation. Kellan is former military doing a favor for a friend. When he is asked to go save Makayla. Even though she had a very traumatic experience they chemistry was off the charts. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

"Into the Blue" by Robin Huber was an emotional, suspenseful story that grabbed my attention from the very first chapter and didn't let go until the end. The author did an excellent job of building the suspense and describing main character Makayla's sometimes terrifying circumstances without going into too much graphic detail. After she was rescued from her kidnappers and taken to La Isla Azul (the Blue Island) by her eventual love interest, Kellan, her reaction to the trauma and symptoms of PTSD seemed very real and understandable to me. An experience like that would be a lot for anyone to process, and it still wasn't over for Makayla because she couldn't go home as long as her former boss considered her to be a threat.

Kellan was very sweet and protective of Makayla from the first moment he saw her, and I appreciated how patient and understanding he was as she worked through the trauma of her ordeal. He had some emotional baggage of his own to work through, both from his childhood and from his time serving in the Marines, but he didn't let those fears rule his life. He never tried to push Makayla away, but rather shared his concerns about the future with her and made a sincere effort to make the relationship work for both of them. They got to know each other and fell in love very quickly under extreme circumstances, but I had no problem believing in the strength of their feelings because they were so good at communicating with each other.

Aside from Kellan and Makayla's relationship, I really enjoyed the adventure aspects of this story, in which the characters had the opportunity to explore the island. The author's descriptions of La Isla Azul were very vivid and I was able to picture the setting quite clearly in my mind. In this day and age when travel is so difficult, it was lovely to be able to pretend to be on a tropical island for a few hours thanks to this book!

Overall, I loved "Into the Blue" and highly recommend it for all fans of romantic suspense. I look forward to seeing what Robin Huber writes next!

"𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒂 𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒂?”
“𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆,” 𝑲𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅. 𝑺𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒆.

The story is PERFECT, not too dark, not too light. It has adventure, humour, romance, beautiful descriptions and a challenge. The writing is descriptive, but not so much that it feels stretched or boring.

Makayla & Kellan as a couple are sweeter than chocolate, sweeter than sugar, sweeter than anything and this couple is the reason you'll be having diabetes!
There is innocence and purity in their relationship with attraction and passion too. Laughing, spending time to know each other, sharing secrets, making memories, loving each other and just having fun away from the city chaos. They are that type of couple that you wish will never break up or grow apart because they are perfect for each other; complimenting each other, caring and doting with hearts in their eyes.

Throughout the book I was smiling whenever they were together. While reading, I was on edge waiting for the predicable, but it never came and instead a new issue was introduced, but, as soon as I thought the story has taken a different direction, BOOM it comes, totally unexpected.

When Kellan saves Makayla from the drug cartel, he feels the need to protect her from everyone and everything. Makayla develops fear, but feels safe with Kellan.

"𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝑲𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒏. 𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒆,” 𝑰 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓.

Kellan is the gaurd, keeping Makayla's darkness away. He's her support system, her pillar, her love, while Makayla is his family, his constant. Together, they support each other through issues and grow a beautiful relationship.

I am absolutely in love with the story and I cried happy tears during the end.
Would definitely recommend!!!

Robin Huber is a new to me author, and I'm in awe of her talented writing style so will be reading her previous work in the very near future.  First of all, a lot of times I'm all about the cover because it's the first thing to catch the eye, and this one is simply gorgeous.  Makayla is thrown into a ton of danger after she discovers something that she shouldn't have about her employer, which leads to her being kidnapped & disappeared to another country.  Former marine Kellan James is now working private security protecting three researchers for his old friend Derek on Costa Rica's La Isla Azul (The Blue Island).  It just so happens that Derek is Makayla's best friend's husband, so Derek sent him on another mission, to rescue Makayla.  By the time he gets to her, she has some life threatening issues, not to mention completely traumatized, so he's to take her to the island to keep her safe.  This story totally captured every bit of my attention from the jump, and it only got better with the f-bomb worthy twists and anxiety ridden excitement.  Ms. Huber is a descriptive genius so I really felt like I was on this beautiful island cover to cover and now I'm disappointed that I'm in my bedroom again.  And even with some romance brewing between these two, Makayla is still in danger so will Kellan be able to keep her safe?!  Hit those one click buttons to find out!  HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Who are Makayla, Derek, and Callie? How do they know Marc? Where is everyone off to? What jobs do they each do? Who is Jacob and what puts me off about him? Who is Kellen? What happens to or with Makayla and Jessica? Who are Dr. Hernandez, Jason, Mia, Grant, and Adam? Where do we find them meeting up at? What happens at the lagoon house that had me laughing so hard I set off my asthma? The suspense of this book was unexpected. The ending was perfection. My first book by this author and I cannot wait to read more!

Such a disappointment. Blue is one of those books that you need to anesthetize half of your brain or it will be immediately obvious how implausible this book is. Yes I did finish it, but it was a complete waste of time. Huber did make a little sense on the PTSD front, but most of the story was so thin and just fodder for the endless repetition of the was the H and h felt about each other. I have read a lot of romance/suspense and the caliber of this was very, very low (And worse yet, laughable). Other readers who gave this 4 stars: read some Pamela Clare and Cindy Gerard. You’ll thank me later.

I randomly found this book on KU today and decided to read it, never having read this author before, but I liked the blurb. And wow, I loved this book! There are definitely a few things I didn't like (some odd comments from characters, a few characters coming and going as needed in the story, and me wanting more from the way one character reacted after another character's death), but overall this was a book I didn't know I needed until I read it.

I loved the thriller aspect, the recovery from a traumatic experience, the friends, the inner strength, and the beautiful relationship that developed between the two MCs. Even the relationship that developed in the background of the story too. Everything had meaning in the book by the end; the island, the color blue, songs, pearls, butterflies, even things as simple as mosquito net bedding found a tiny way to come full circle or to be memorialized in their lives. There were some really swoony moments, and some heartbreaking moments too. I really enjoyed this one.
