Cord was a jerk. I really didn't like him at any point in this story. Even at the end I couldn't believe he had changed and I doubted they would stay together. She was definitely too good for him. I do like the family and that is why I read it but I can't believe how the hero treated the heroine. He was a hit and run kind of player and they had a weekend stand. She tried to call him to let him know she was pregnant but he wouldn't take her calls. And then he was such a jerk about the baby. That first scene of them together almost made me dnf the book. I just hated him and I never ever warmed up to him. Didn't want anything to do with his baby or his baby's mama. Such a selfish jerk. I did finish the book and it was well written and I liked hearing about the rest of the family. The only reason I finished it actually were his siblings. There was an epilogue but I still see divorce in the future. The 7 months they were apart she was celibate but I don't think he was but at least we didn't have to hear about them. I did like that they named the baby after his Father.
I always love a 2nd chance romance but throw in a surprise pregnancy and I'm hooked!
As much angst as Cord added to this story, the reader can still sympathize with him and his baggage that stops him from being the perfect man he can be. Maggie is the strong heroine in this story that sticks by her desires and what she wants.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This is the sixth book in the Wildes of Birch Bay series written by Kim Law. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. The books in this series can be read separately but once you read one you will want to read them all. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading other books by this great author.
Not a fan of deadbeat men being written as heroes. Don’t even get me started on the double standard bullshit of him having no problems having sex with others since her, but god forbid she do the same! Fuck off with that shit...
Cord is a loser, and Maggie is an idiot for believing in him.

Let me get this out of the way: My heart belongs to Cord. There! I’ve said it. Maggie and Cord seem so different and yet, the two of them work as a couple…only someone forgot to tell THEM that.
If you’ve read this series (and yes, you can read this book as a standalone but there is so much about other family members and folks in town that it is far more enjoyable to have read the previous books), you know that the Wildes have had a very hard life. Their mother was a narcissist and managed to wreak havoc in all her children’s lives. In my opinion, Cord had it the worst but you’ll need to read his story in this book. It unfolds as each page turns and it tells so much about who he is today, and why he’s like he is today. Loved him. And my heart broke for him.
And Maggie. She is amazing, imho. She manages to hold her head up in a small town – with all the judgements that go along with it – and live her life as a single, pregnant mom-to-be. Her family life wasn’t all hearts and flowers either so she, too, has some work to do dealing with her feelings, hopes and dreams. She and Cord have a long journey to an HEA but it works. As with all the previous books, I loved this couple. I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Cord Wilde is the one who feels the most damaged by his mother’s behavior. He was the one she intentionally set up to find her in her manipulative events. Until the last time when he was unable to save her. He knows it wasn’t his fault but it still weighs heavy on his mind. He’s determined to never have anyone rely on him again so he skates through live with superficial relationships. Until the one night stand & it’s unforeseen consequences.
This was an excellent wrap up to the Montana Wilde’s. Cord & Maggie seem like total opposites but they both have their own issues to resolve before they can move on. Cord is the most troubled & really has to get past the damage his mother created. Maggie needs to decide if she can rely on Cord or not. I enjoyed the catch up with the other family members. Even though this could be read as a stand alone, reading these books in order gives you a better understanding of the nightmare & the damage they were subjected to by their mother. I love the way the author had them all overcoming their pasts & learning to live, love & become a true family.
I received a kindle copy of the book for my honest and voluntary review. I love reading about the Wilde children and Cord has trust issues like the rest of them. I enjoyed Cord and Maggie’s story.
This was the last book about the Wilde family. It centered on Cord Wilde, the youngest of the boys. He grew up the "helper" in the family. Since his mother was a narcissistic sick woman, he was the one that was always coming along at the "right" moment to help or save her from her problems. She knew when and where he would come along and would time her "accidents" accordingly. It was the only way he knew. When his mother died and he grew up he swore he would never let a woman get that close to him again, NO ONE. He could have his fun, but never anything serious, and he would make sure the women knew this going into this. No one would see his heart or his love, they would never feel it either. He had that control down tight. Until he met Maggie.
Maggie Crowder, school teacher, sassy, cute and everything that he can't have. Maggie met Cord one weekend in Birch Bay during a festival. She thought he was the most beautiful man. She actually put the moves on him. They spend a great weekend together, both knowing it couldn't go any further than that. Maggie however did wish for more. But she took that weekend and enjoyed it. She knew Cord has issues, she could see it in his eyes. But getting into personal things wasn't going to happen. The weekend was over, they said goodbye. Life moved on. Maggie however found out she was pregnant. She tried to reach out to Cord but he didn't want to go there so he never picked up the phone.
Cord comes home to Birch Bay for a week, he has been forced into this week off by the Dr.'s he is in practice with. He hasn't been doing well. He has been having nightmares, and he turned a patient away who later died. He found a car on the side of the road on his way into town, it was snowing like crazy. He noticed when he got closer to the car it was Maggie. He wasn't happy to see her. He helped her after she put up a stink. Maggie wasn't happy to see Cord either, not in her current condition, 7 months pregnant.
Cord will finally find out he is going to be a dad in this story, he will be a huge jerk about a lot of things and I am shocked Maggie can put up with him. Until she doesn't. Will things work out with these two? I guess you have to read the book to find out, I'm not spoiling it.
I had a hard time liking Cord through lots of this book, but I did know where his feelings were coming from since I have read the rest of the series, (even if you haven't it is explained in this book) so I tried to cut him some slack. Maggie was awesome, maybe the difference in their personalities is why she could handle him, she helped him see the forest through the trees. They did fit well together, and all the other characters and their significant others being in this book was great too. Especially when the babies starting to come. I liked this book the best out of the series, it just hit all the feels for me. Tons of emotion, good, bad and big laughs. Ms. Law, fantastic writing.

Thanks goes to the author for the complimentary copy of Montana Homecoming by Kim Law for the purpose of reading and reviewing prior to publication. My opinions are my own and no one has influenced them.
Montana Homecoming is the final book in Ms. Law’s The Wildes of Birch Bay, and captured me from the first page to the last. It’s an amazing book and touched me on a deeper level than any in this series since Dani’s story in the first book, Montana Cherries!
Maggie Crowder’s character appealed to me from her first appearance. She has quite a bit in her cup, including a huge secret that she needs to share and can put off no longer. She wants to have everything resolved before the birth of her unexpected surprise from a weekend encounter with the guy she’d crushed on for years. I loved her determination to move forward and do what is best for her child.
Cord Wilde is a truly tortured hero, my favorite kind! He grew up with a narcissistic mother who counted on him to “save” her, but as a sixteen-year-old, he believes he failed her. He refuses to ever let any woman control his emotions again. His reason for returning to Birch Bay is tormenting him, and when he learns his carefree weekend with Maggie had consequences, he’s willing to accept financial responsible, but that doesn’t mean he needs to be in the child’s life once he’s born.
If I hadn’t met Cord in the previous books, I might not have liked his character in the beginning, but since I had and knew part of his story, I understood his fears, so my heart ached for him. He fights the feelings he has for Maggie, and I could feel his confusion when guilt eats at him over his decision to stay away from her and any thought of being a hands-on father.
The romance between Maggie and Cord begins with them on opposite sides, but as they spend time with each other, the undeniable attraction cannot be ignored. Cord’s struggle to move beyond his fears makes their love story an emotional one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I really wanted them to find their way to lasting happiness. They both deserved the security of knowing they are loved unconditionally.
If you enjoy contemporary romance with plenty of deep emotions and compelling characters, then you will love Montana Homecoming as much as I did. While this can be read as a stand-alone novel, I highly recommend reading at least the first book in this series. This has been an amazing series and I loved spending time with the Wilde family and enchanting Birch Bay. Happy reading!
Now that the last book has been written, I intend to read them all again, but this time back to back. I love this series. From the beautiful covers, the intricate descriptions of the scenery and the people, the deftly developed characters through the troubling and intriguing stories of the six Wilde children, who grew up with a narcissistic mother and weak father and were psychologically damaged by their dysfunctional large family situation. Yet one by one, they have reluctantly returned home, to heal and find the love that they should have received while growing up.
While Cord's siblings have all come back to Birch Bay and found the love of their life and have started building their own families, Cord is living in Billings, having bought into a medical practice there. He had been the most manipulated by his mother as it was his job to save her from all her almost fatal "accidents" to get attention, but the last time, she had not calculated on another car on the road. He has been carrying the guilt and anger since he was sixteen. He swore he would never fall in love and allow another person to manipulate him. He recently lost a patient who he had compared to his mother, and ever since has been having troubling dreams that have kept him up, to the point that his partners told him to take a vacation and get some counseling. He had been coming back home more often to check on his Dad, but this time, as he approaches the place where his mother had died, he sees another car had slidden off the road and finds a very angry and pregnant Maggie Crowder inside. Maggie has her own issues, but she is sweet and sassy and even though she had tried to tell him that their weekend fling of safe sex had nonetheless resulted in her pregnancy, he had refused to return her calls, so she wants nothing to do with him. He even has the gaul to accuse her of trying to manipulate him, the one thing he will not tolerate. But circumstances and a lot of snow push them together and they eventually discover that they were meant to be, but there is a lot of heartache along the way.
I read an ARC provided by the author to her Review Team. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
I really liked this book in the series (the last in the series, although there is a novella soon to be released). I liked Maggie and all her pregnant issues. I remember being that way. I liked Cord but he was a little too handsy for someone who didn't want to be in a relationship with anyone or be a part of his son's life. And, no, do not touch a pregnant woman's belly unless she gives you permission. I would have smacked his hand every time he did that. But I liked how they each wormed their way into each others hearts. So this book was a nice ending to the story line.
I did have a problem with one of the books. It was Jaden and Arsula's book. I didn't like the way Arsula got her point across physically. In their book she would throw things at Jaden and he ended up falling down the stairs and broke his ankle. And she kept throwing things and in this book she actually got mad at Cord and lunged at him. Her behavior hasn't changed. I'm scared for their children when they have them. And then, there is Jaden; he thinks he knows everything and puts his therapist degree to use even in other people's business when it isn't asked for. These two people just put me off every time I read them. If they weren't around this book would have gotten 5 stars from me.
I loved the area that this story is written. It would be a perfect place to visit. And I love the other characters in the family. Kim Law is a great writer and I can't wait for more.
I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
As parents, we can’t know how our interactions with our children will affect them. For the Wilde children, their narcissistic mother, took a toll on them all, but Cord Wilde was the favorite child to torment. When she is killed in a car accident she caused due to her needy personality, Cord feels he let her down and vows never to be manipulated again by anything or anyone.
Fast forward to a near blizzard and a car in a ditch. As a physician, it’s second nature to stop and investigate the crash site to see if there are any injuries. He recognizes his ‘one weekend stand’ from last spring, Maggie Crowder. Neither Cord nor Maggie are happy to see each other.
Consequences from their time together in the spring are very evident. Cord wants to throw money at the issue, and Maggie just wants to be left alone. Can they work out their differences to the benefit of them both? Can a grown man let go of his feelings of inadequacy? Can a woman who needs love and understanding accept that might not happen? Will love win?
A perfect conclusion to this series. Laughter, misunderstandings, hard feelings, family, pregnancies, new babies, job relocation, and finally love and acceptance. I cried as I read the last chapter, and the epilogue makes me think there is more of the Wilde family coming. Beautiful dialogue, lovely setting, and perfect ending.
Cord Wilde is by far one of the first protagonists in a story that I have actually wanted to slap multiple times. He is not only rude but comes off as mean sometimes, I would hate him if I didn't know the back story on his character and family. Maggie Crowder the female protagonist seems just too nice for Cord, but somehow the two fit together perfectly. Maybe because Maggie is so nice? Don't get me wrong, I loved this book, I have loved each one in the series, Cord was just a little bit harder for me to like at first. By the end of the book I decided I like him just as much if not more than his siblings. The story is a second chance type of a romance, it pulls a lot of emotions from the reader because the story and characters are so well written. If you love a book that will pull you in, have you turning pages because you just have to find out what happens next, if you love a story that will have you feeling multiple emotions while reading it, then this is the book for you. Be sure to have some tissues on hand, because you will need them along with a punching bag. That Cord sure did tick me off a lot. “I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. It was joyous and heartbreaking all at the same time to have the last Wildes book in my hands. I have loved all of the books and Montana Homecoming was no exception. Growing up and being used by a narcissistic mother has to leave a few scars on your psyche, and Cord has plenty. He's definitely a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy. However, that gets harder to do when he discovers that Maggie is pregnant--very pregnant--with his son. Will he be able to just write her a check and walk away? He might be able to if his family would just leave him alone and stay out of his business. Maggie is such a sweet character, but she's also a strong character. She would love to have a life with Cord and their baby, but only if Cord really loves her. If he doesn't love her, she WILL walk away no matter how much she loves him and wants to help him through his pain. An outstanding conclusion to the series with lots of family, love, tender moments and babies! I was given a free advanced copy of this book by the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Usually Birch Bay is a place where a person can escape the pressures of life. Unfortunately that's not the case for Cord Wilde. He really doesn't want to be here on 'vacation' and to spend time with his family. It gets worse when he sees Maggie Crowder. He hasn't seen her since they spent the weekend together. Now she's pregnant with his baby. He doesn't want the responsibility of a child and he definitely doesn't need a wife. I was sad that Cord was so damaged by his childhood. His mother was a narcissist who played games with the emotions of her children. Maggie deserved his support, but she becomes his rock. They both feel their connection grow. I liked how Mags won't give up on this frustrating man. Her spirit and determination are amazing. I wanted Cord to face his past and embrace his future. He has an opportunity to have a wonderful life. Maggie makes him a better person. She's a special lady. Kim Law wrote an emotional story that had me in tears. I loved Montana Homecoming. The characters were special and the story told of second chances and redemption. I wanted a HEA.
This is #6 in the Wildes of Birch Bay series. The Wilde children were raised by a narcissistic mother. It caused serious emotional problems for all of the kids but maybe most of all for Cord. He was expected to appear just in the nick of time to save his mother from whatever accident or incident she had created to draw attention to herself. Ultimately, he couldn’t save her from the last one. She died in a car accident and Cord was the one to discover her.
Maggie Crowder and Cord had a memorable weekend the previous spring and several weeks later Maggie learns she is pregnant. She has tried several times to contact Cord and let him know but he won’t return her calls. She decides she will handle the situation on her own. Meanwhile Cord is forced by the other doctors in his practice to take a vacation and comes home to Birch Bay. He sees an obviously pregnant Maggie and learns he is about to be a father. Their road to happily ever after is pretty rocky but hopefully love will win again.
I received a copy of this book in return for my honest review.
I had a preview of the first two chapters of Montana Homecoming before getting my hands on a copy. That little taste of the book made me anxious to get ahold of the rest of the book. and it didn't disappoint!
I do believe it helps to have read the entire series to understand why Cord is the way he is. Why he doesn't want nor trust relationships. Finding out seven months later that a weekend tryst with Maggie resulted in pregnancy, throws Cord for a loop. He responds in true fashion of wanting nothing to do with Maggie or the unborn child.
It's great to see Cord's transformation to wanting a relationship but then also having his issues that are hard to overcome. Maggie is strong woman who will do whatever she thinks will be best for her child. She doesn't give Cord a lot of leeway but does him the understanding that he needs.
A true fitting conclusion book to the Wilde family! “I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Some guys are just jerks. They say they will call and then they go silent and never do. Well, life goes on. And Maggie will take care of things like she always has. Cord, on the other hand, will gladly pay whatever the cost to be relieved of the responsibility. He is a doctor and just cannot deal with anything else. Yes, Cord has issues, and he is definitely aware of his issues. He is just afraid to face them, which is why he acts like a jerk. Maggie has her own long-suffering issues, but she does just fine.
Author Kim Law has a way of telling a story that redeems jerks and makes them lovable. I really did not like Cord for most of this story, but it is a GOOD story! And Cord ends up being a good guy. I really liked the depth of characters and the humanity of it all. What parents do can really affect their kids – good and bad, present and future. This story will draw you in and keep you turning pages until you have opened your eyes, changed your mind, and enjoyed the ride. Make a visit to Birch Bay. The Wilde’s will welcome you!
Montana Homecoming: Fantastic story! I loved Maggie and Cord. I liked the challenges they went through, it kept the story exciting. It had a lot of twists and turns. Great suspense and surprises. I liked he came from a small town and a big noisy family, even though he worked in Billings because of his past was still haunting him. I like the sparks between Cord and Maggie even he had a hard time admitting how much he loved her. I really enjoyed this story.
How I hate to see this series end!! We've been waiting for the aloof Cord Wilde's story for a while but this story makes it all worth the wait. These characters grabbed my heart from the very first page and tested my patience in the very best way all through the story. All the Wildes have had to work hard to find their happy and Cord is no exception. Maggie is the perfect one to fight for. Don't miss their story. I highly recommend it.
When a baby boom hits Birch Bay, it’s not all smooth sailing. Cole’s family history is a sticking point. This is the final book in this series of hunky guys and swoon-worthy gals who get them. Recommend.
I had such high expectations for this book. Through the rest of the books, we got glimpses of Cord's character and by the end I couldn't wait to read his story. But this fell short for me. Cord was supposed to be the most damaged of the siblings, so it seemed like he should have had the most character growth to get to his happy ending. But he mostly worked through what seemed like major issues within a few sentences and mostly in his own narrative. I also don't think the story between Cord and Maggie is believable. We're not told anything about her that makes me understand why Cord wants to be with her. And he doesn't treat her well and never really does the big heartfelt gesture to show he's sorry. The baby seems to be the only real driver and I don't think it's really enough. I don't typically finish a romance novel thinking the couple won't last, but that's the case here. I still love the author and will continue to read her books, but I was just a little disappointed with this one.
Another great read in this series. I had been waiting for Cord's story for awhile now. I have to say this is my favorite in the series. Excellent characters. I love when an author includes characters from prior books. Gives us readers a chance to check on how they are doing! Now for Cord and Maggie, i loved Cord, but there were a few times I wanted to slap some sense into him! For readers new to Kim Law I promise you can't go wrong with this book or any of the Montana series.
Montana Homecoming is the sixth and final book in the Wildes of Birch Bay series by Kim Law. Although each book can be read as a stand-alone, I strongly recommend reading the entire series. This is the book I have been waiting for because we finally get to learn Cord's story.
Cord Wilde is the only Wilde sibling that does not live in Birch Bay. He is partner in a successful medical practice, and has currently been forced to take some much needed time off by his partners in the practice. Cord is not happy about this, but decided he might as well use the time to head home to check in on dad. On his way to the family home in Birch Bay, he sees a car that skidded off of the road and ended up in a ditch. Cord stops to offer his help, and is caught off guard when he realizes the driver of the car is a very pregnant Maggie Crowder.
Maggie Crowder has always had a crush on Cord Wilde. After their weekend spent together in April, Maggie thought maybe they would have a chance to become more because they seemed to connect on so many levels. She has always seen in something in Cord that he fails to see in himself...the ability to love. She had hoped he would call, but he never did...not even when she tried to contact him to tell him about the pregnancy.
The story that unfolds is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Cord is the one that found his mom on the day she died in the car accident...one she intentionally staged knowing that he would be the one to find her. Sixteen years later, and he is still having nightmares. He has vowed to never let any woman manipulate his emotions the way his mom did, and has refused to let any woman get close. When he realizes he will be having a son, he offers financial assistance but wants no part in Maggie's life or his son's life. Of course, Maggie is determined to break through that wall, and she does everything in her power to make Cord take a chance on love.
The best thing about reading a series is the opportunity to reconnect with the characters from the previous books, in addition to the new story being told. Kim Law has perfectly titled this final book in the series, and has given her fans an ending that is completely satisfying. Family has always been a central focus throughout the series, and it definitely shines through in the final book. The Wildes of Birch Bay have become one of my favorite book families...a family that has suffered, but also found a way to overcome any obstacle in their path.
I would like to thank Kim Law for giving me the opportunity to read Montana Homecoming. I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
This review contains things that might be considered minor spoilers. Nothing serious, but I'm adding this warning just in case.
This book is part of the larger Wildes of Birch Bay series and while you do not have to read the others first, you definitely should because those books are wonderful and knowing the other Wilde siblings will only make the events of this book so much better. And reading those stories will give you a better understanding of Cord and his issues. (I'll circle back to that in a bit.)
Although I have read and loved every book in this series, I went into this one with a lot of trepidation. Not only because it is the last book in this series and I really don't want it to end, but because books with unexpected pregnancies make me nervous. I don't love it when a baby is given the job of holding its parents together, but I really should have known not to doubt Ms. Law. Once again, Ms. Law has taken a really difficult story line and made it into something so well-written that I didn't want to put down.
If you've read the previous books, one thing is incredibly clear: Cord Wilde is the most messed-up and frustrating of the entire messed-up Wilde clan. As the oldest of the Wilde children, he bore a lot of the brunt of their traumatic childhood, so it only made sense that he would be the most emotionally damaged. But because of that damage, you will likely find yourself hissing and possibly even cussing at Cord at the beginning of this book. And possibly toward the end, to be totally honest, but be patient with him because while he isn't perfect, he's a seriously great guy who just doesn't know how to get out of his own way. He might take some time to get his “stuff” together, but he's worth the wait, so be patient. Maggie was also a really excellent character. I loved how strong she was, and I appreciated the fact that even if Cord hadn't gotten it together, she was going to be okay. She would have raised her son to be healthy and happy and loved unconditionally.
Beyond Cord and Maggie's story, there were so many great moments in relation to the other Wildes. I found myself sighing happily so many times as I read. I was glad to find out that there will be one more novella in this series because I am not looking forward to leaving this town or this family. Life without a Birch Bay book to look forward to is going to be so sad!
“Montana Homecoming and the rest of the books in this series has all the feels of family drama and romance to melt your heart. ” ~ Under the Covers
Getting lost in Kim Law’s Wilde Stories is just what I needed. Montana Homecoming is the last installment of The Wildes of Birch Bay and this is Cord’s story.
Out of all the siblings, Cord was the most affected by his mother’s death and her final manipulation left long term damages which had him leaving their hometown for good. With siblings’ weddings and his father’s declining health, Cord has been back more times then he would like. Little did he know his last visit will give him more reasons to stay.
Surprize! There’s a baby on the way. Maggie, is your typical sweet local teacher everyone loves. Her pregnancy came as a surprise to everyone and the father of the baby is a mystery. Of Course, only she knows. Time is running out and the right thing to do is to let the father know.
While Cord is not my favorite hero in this series, I enjoyed seeing the last of the Wildes get his well deserved story. I was happy to see him overcome his issues but I was happier that Maggie found her HEA in him. The journey was rough and there were times I thought Maggie was too nice and more times I thought she deserved better but I suppose Cord was worth the wait.

Montana Homecoming is the last book about the Wilde's of Birch Bay. But, I'm so excited to hear about a novella coming out about Maggie's brother.
In Montana Homecoming, Cord, the confirmed bachelor of the family shows up one snowy night to check up on his dad and his health problems. He notices a car stuck in a ditch where his mother's fatal accident occurred. The woman is a previous weekend fling and obviously pregnant. Even more surprising Cord learns the baby is his from their weekend together. He's the fixer in the family, and has to take care of this..
He does NOT want a child OR a relationship. He never will! Since he was brought up by a narcissistic mother, he will never put himself in a position that will allow anyone to manipulate him ever again. He is adamant about that even though his five siblings have all found their happy endings.
This is a beautifully crafted story of Cord coming to terms with his youth and finally opening himself up to love, recognizing the demons from his mother's actions and finally starting to work to overcome them. Kim paints the anguish Cord and Maggie go through so beautifully that my heart hurt for them, and in turn want smack the for their hard headedness, and rejoice in their happy ending. Getting to catch up on his siblings whose stories were told in the previous books in the series, and the new generation of Wilde's being born was wonderful and added joy to their story.
I'm always excited to read a new Kim Law story, and if you haven't read the Wilde's of Birch Bay... Get started!!! You will be glad you did!
Kim Law has done it again. This book is a great read and can easily be read without having read the previous books in the series. This series is about a family who had a tough beginning dealing with a narcissistic mother.
This book centers around one of the sons, Cord, who is now a physician and had previously isolated himself from the family. He is pulled back to the family when his father has an accident. During a family wedding, he gets together with a local, Maggie, and she becomes pregnant with his child. Cord is still working through the psychological effects of growing up with a manipulative mother and doesn't respond when Maggie tries to reach him. He also has vowed never to marry or have kids.
Although he had not planned on having kids of his own, he takes responsibility for his unborn baby, which was a refreshing. The book walks you through Cord's process for dealing with the situation and Maggie's response and expectations.
This review may make the book sound boring, but it is far from boring. Again, I think this story was quite refreshing. Once I began reading, I didn't want to put the story down, and it only took two days for me to read it. Frankly, I would have finished it in one if I didn't have other responsibilities that encroached on my reading time. I highly recommend this book as well as the others in the series. Montana Homecoming doesn't disappoint. It will have you feeling all types of emotions.
When Cord returns home and finds Maggie stuck in a ditch on a snowy night he has no idea that his life is about to change forever. That event alone brings flashbacks of him coming across an accident involving his mother years before. Unlike Maggie, his narcissistic mother purposely caused her accident with the intent of Cord finding her.
Due to the scars of dealing with a narcissistic mother for years Cord has maintained a use em and leave em mentality. When Cord finds out that Maggie is weeks away from giving birth to his child will he change is mind about relationships?
Maggie has had a crush on Cord since high school so when the opportunity to "hook-up" presented itself she took it. Now she is sitting in a ditch on a snowy night carrying the "consequence" of the "hook-up" and who stops to help her but the man responsible for the baby she is weeks away from delivering.
After unsuccessfully reaching out to Cord to let him know that she was pregnant Maggie doesn't let Cord know right away that she is carrying his baby. When he does find out he decides he will be financially responsible as a parent but does not want to be a part of the child's life.
Can Maggie change Cord's mind about her and his child? Will Cord be able to walk away and return to his life? Pick up a copy of Montana Homecoming and find out for yourself...I promise you won't regret it!

This latest book brings us the story of last of the unattached WIlde siblings, doctor Cord Wilde. Cord’s relationship with his deceased narcissistic mother, taught him to never allow anyone , especially a woman, manipulate him. Maggie Crowder, a third grade teacher and long time friend of Cord’s sister, had a crush on him for most of her life, and when the opportunity arose to spend an unforgettable weekend with Cord. She never expected to end up pregnant. Cord’s past continues to define his present and when he finds out about the pregnancy, he’s determined to not get involved. As the story progresses, and the walls around Cord’s hearts started to crack, will he be able to realize that love doesn’t mean the other person is manipulating him? While the plot was engaging and the characters complex, we realize the story is more than the plot. It’s a story about family dynamics or lack thereof. About how our childhood experiences do in fact affect us as adults. That sometimes we need to take a chance at love and life, because the rewards will outshine any heartaches. In this story we also get a chance to “visit” with the characters of the other books and see how everyone is doing. This is a stand alone, but I would highly recommend those that haven’t read the previous stories, to read them. Each and every one of them are touching and wonderful stories. I was entrusted a copy of this boo. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
