One of the most important factors in getting your life to be the way you want it is to first understand what'¬?s holding you back. Most often, people don'¬?t have clear goals in mind and they don'¬?t know how to identify and overcome certain of life'¬?s limitations. In this book, psychologist James Fadiman takes you through the steps necessary to learn to set and achieve your life goals-in relationships, business, career, and spiritutality.
James Fadiman is an American psychologist and writer. He is acknowledged for his extensive work in the field of psychedelic research. Fadiman received a Bachelor of Social Relations from Harvard University and a Master's degree and Ph.D in Psychology from Stanford University. While in Paris in 1961, his friend and former Harvard undergraduate adviser, Ram Dass, introduced him to psychedelics. Currently a Senior Research Fellow at Sophia University, Palo Alto, California Microdose researcher and advocate.
I picked this up surprisingly from a cheap second hand book. On that basis alone and being a self help book I expected it to be dated and probably quite rubbish. Instead I found it really helpful. It was very much about adjusting my expectations and learning to expect different things from life. It was a little pricey for a second hand book, but I still think it was close to the best $10 I ever spent!
The book by nature being a bit dated actually gains something from being a bit old fashioned - I felt like it was some advice that one of my long-dead grandparents would have given me. It's content is well organised. If you can dig up this gem and you're feeling very lost and falling apart I really recommend it.
This was written by my favorite teacher ever. [Humanistic Psychology, Sonoma State CA] His class opened up the worlds of psychology, philosophy and religion to me in a way that still influences me. This is a self-help book, a little dated and a little late in my life cycle to be of great use. Much of it is concerned with improving self-image [something I never needed and that is somewhat out of fashion [it'll come back, just wait]! Jim also co-authored a great book on Sufism
