New York Sullivans #3

You Do Something to Me

Rate this book
Alec Sullivan has always believed he has it all. A billion-dollar private aviation business. A penthouse apartment in New York City. Beautiful women who know better than to expect him ever to fall in love. And great siblings for whom he'd do anything. But when Alec's business partner passes away and leaves everything to a daughter Alec never knew about, in an instant everything in his life turns upside down...all because of Cordelia.

Cordelia always thought she was perfectly happy with her life. She owns a garden store she loves, lives in a pretty little cottage in the same town as her adoptive parents, and figures there's plenty of time to meet Mr. Right. But she never counted on becoming the surprise heir to a fortune...or on meeting a man like Alec Sullivan. A shockingly sexy billionaire who makes her heart race and melt all at the same time.

Neither Alec nor Cordelia plans on getting any closer than they have to. Only, how can either of them fight this kind of heat, this depth of desire? And when Cordelia needs Alec's support, it's pure instinct for him to be there for her. But when it's her turn to help him confront his deepest pain, will Alec let her in? Or will he push her away, just as he's pushed away everyone who's loved him for the past thirty years...

You know how much I love all of my Sullivan heroes, but I've got to tell you that Alec just might have taken the crown with this book. It honestly stunned me how much I adored him while writing You Do Something To Me. He's my favorite kind of hero—sexy and sweet and desperately in need of an amazing woman to help make his life complete. I can't wait for you to read his book! ❤️ Bella

In the third book of the New York Sullivans series, we finally get Alec Sullivan’s book. Alec encounters tragedy when his business partner has a heart attack. When he dies, everything is passed onto Cordelia, who is someone that Alec had no idea existed. So when their paths crash, its met with some mixed emotions.

This book was a bit of a surprise for me. The premise isn’t what I expected and honestly, it wasn’t my favorite. For me, first impressions are huge and I really didn’t connect with Cordelia’s character. While I could understand where she was coming from, she still came across as cold to me. I didn’t like her attitude towards Alex in the beginning so it was hard for me to forget all that as the story progressed.

This story does have a billionaire in it, but it’s not done in an over the top way, which I can appreciate. I tire really easily of billionaire stories nowadays, especially if they are cliché.

I did enjoy the easy way in which Andre writes. It makes for a very quick read. So even though this isn’t my favorite book in the series, I am looking forward to reading more from Bella Andre.

This story was such a nice surprise. I've been a Sullivans fan for a while (hello, this is book 17 I'm reading) but the New York branch hadn't enthralled me like the San Francisco (my favourite) or the Seattle branch did; that's why I'd added the book when it was released in 2017 but hadn't felt too interested in reading it until now and boy, am I glad I finally read it.

Alec Sullivan is the oldest of the New York Sullivans, and the most pessimistic and cynic when it comes to love. All of a sudden he meets Cordelia and yes, he feels gobsmacked by attraction and love, and oh wow, hope and dreams? And so... a FANTASTIC journey of friendship, hope and love begins.

It was funny and lovely seeing Alec shedding his walls to let Cordelia in. It was refreshing to see two main characters communicating and no cliché drama to split them apart. Bless you, Bella Andre. And of course, it was incredible seeing a bit of my favourite San Francisco Sullivans in the book. Double bless you, Bella Andre.

You Do Something to Me indeed did something to me. I'm filled with gooey feelings and corny smiles. Bella Andre once again delivered a great love story.

A brilliant love story!!! This book is so sweet and tender that it will make you fall in love with Alec and Cordelia! If any two people deserved forever, it is them. Alec was sigh worthy, but I expected no less from a Sullivan. Cordelia was so honest and sweet that he couldn’t help but love her. Together they were perfect. ❤️ If you love a Happy-Ever After... this is the book for you!

Amazing, wonderful, so full of love. These words don’t describe how beautiful and enchanting You Do Something To Me was. Bella Andre really kicked it up a notch with Alec and Cordelia’s story. I didn’t think my heart could get any fuller watching these two people fall in love.

Alec was the ultimate knight in shining armor throughout this story even though he did try to come off as the bad boy. He didn’t believe in love or happily-ever-after’s, his mom and dad were proof that love could not conquer everything. He grew up taking care of everyone around him, knew that he was a cynic when it came to love, and never let anyone get close enough to see the hurt and scars that he has carried for 30 years. But, a tragedy brings the most amazing woman into his life and now he finds himself second-guessing all the decisions he has made in his personal life.

Cordelia sees right through the image that Alec projects. She sees his inner-light, how much he does care for everyone around him. He’s her saving grace and was there for her at her darkest time. He pulled her through and, in the process, pulled her under as well. She couldn’t help but fall in love with someone so generous and giving but, she’ll never try to change who he is or how he thinks. He’s accepted her for who she and she’ll accept him in any way. Friends, lovers but never partners.

When Alec finally starts to open his eyes, and realizes the opportunities that he’s missing because of his stubbornness, it’s almost too late. When all the Sullivan’s rally round, he can’t help but finally accept that Cordelia really did something to him … showed him how to open his mind, his heart – offer forgiveness and let go of the past.

I cried, I honestly cried happy tears during the epilogue. I was so touched and moved by the words Bella Andre put on paper that I felt like my heart was bursting with happiness. Bella Andre wrecks me every single time and I’m not surprised that she brought me to my knees again. She’s articulate, she’s fluid, she can write a romance like not many authors can. I have praised her writing since the day I picked up her first book and I have a feeling that I won’t stop. Kudos to Bella Andre for bringing another Sullivan a happily-ever-after, for keeping this series alive with fresh, new stories and for just being the amazing author that she is.

You Do Something To Me by Bella Andre was the third book in the New York Sullivan series and the seventeenth in the Sullivan series.

Alec Sullivan was the oldest of his siblings. His mother took her life when he was a child and he took over the care for his younger siblings when his dad fell apart and no longer could function as a parent. He had kept himself guarded and protected from love, relationships and reliance on anyone. He ran a successful billion dollar business and was loyal to his siblings. He was happy and content with his life.

Cordelia Langley was the unknown daughter to Gordon Whitley, Alec’s business partner. She was adopted as a baby, had never known her birth parents, was a successful botanist and business owner. She was happiest when she was gardening.

Alec and Cordelia met when Gordon Whitley died unexpectedly from a heart attack and left his portion of the business with all of his assets solely to his daughter, Cordelia. They were attracted from the onset but were conflicted with the circumstances so held each other at Bay and became friends instead, well friends with an occasional benefit.

Cordelia was the soft to Alec’s hard, sweet to his bitter, and optimism to his cynicism. It was an intriguing journey of exploration and reflection leading ultimately to hope and forgiveness. True to form, it was well written and well developed.

You Do Something To Me was a sweet story. It was low on angst but high on awareness and forgiveness. Andre included all of the cousins and kept us in the loop for potential next cousin stories; highlighting the closeness and bonds that we’ve come to love with the Sullivans.

Alec was the third sibling to find his forever love, so that leaves just one, Harry, and I can’t wait!

The Sullivan series is a truly magnificent work of art. I love every single book in this long series. I have read all of them and I just can't pick a favorite. Every one is a five star read. Bella Andre knows what her readers wants and she gives it in spades. Honestly can't wait for the next one...

Bella Andre is an amazingly gifted writer who has created an incredible series, The Sullivans. With her incredible dialogue, each story becomes a visual treat as we let our imaginations run wild.

Alec Sullivan, CEO of a private, wildly successful Aviation company, is about to get the shock of his life when he learns a secret from his recently departed partner’s death from a heart attack. Whispering a name, Cordelia, with his last breath, Alec is mystified. Unbeknownst to him, Gordon Whitely had a daughter he put up for adoption to a couple he knew would be perfect parents for her. Now, Alec learns she has inherited Gordon’s share of the company.

Arranging a meeting with their attorneys to discuss the situation, Alec is unprepared for his feelings upon meeting Cordelia. He doesn’t do relationships and is shocked at his emotional reaction to her stunning looks and impressive demeanor. Uncharacteristically, he wants to know her better before offering her a buy out, which is far from the professional way he has always done business.

Alec and Cordelia’s journey of self discovery is so beautifully written you’ll want to read it again and again. I know I will. Kudos Ms. Andre for another brilliant book in the saga of the Sullivans.

I do not know what to say! I have been a fan of Bella Andre and her Sullivan series for a few years now. I just finished her latest You Do Something to Me. It is the 17th book in this in this series, and the 3rd in the New York Sullivan’s. You would think after 16 books in a series it would start to get old?
NO. FREAKING. WAY!!!!!
You Do Something to Me is FABULOUS! STUPENDOUS! A TOTAL PAGE TURNER. A PHENOMENAL HEA! A TOTAL EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER RIDE! I could go on and on, but I will stop.
I will not write my own synopsis of my own, because you HAVE read the blurb, haven’t you? I will tell you WHY I loved this book.
First, and foremost, Bella Andre wrote the book. She has a way, at least for me anyway, of drawing the reader into the book from the very first chapter. The way she creates, and describes her characters, you just absolutely fall in love with them. The way she writes about the settings in her books, you can see them in your mind.
Second, I REALLY love a book series. And this Sullivan series, love, Love, LOVE IT! The way Ms. Andre lets you read up on previous characters in previous books. I really enjoy seeing how their lives are going. Every book in this series has been different. For instance, in You Do Something to Me, the hero, Alec Sullivan is absolutely sure he is NOT cut out for love, after watching… OOPS, sorry, no spoilers. And Cordelia, I love her! She SEES what even his family cannot… Again, sorry, no spoilers.
I MUST say, “Thank You” Ms. Bella Andre for all of the hours and hours of reading pleasure you have given me over the years. You have helped me to get thru some trying times over the last couple of years. Reading your books have been a temporary escape from life. I am forever grateful!
I was gifted with an ARC of You Do Something to Me for my honest opinion, and from reading this review, you can probably tell my opinion.
KUDOS, Ms. Andre on another FAN FREAKING FABULOUS BOOK!!
Thank you for reading my review. I hope this helps you to make up your mind. Now, what are you waiting for, go his that “one-click” button!

The Sullivans get better and better

Each Sullivan book gets better and better! When a series has so many installments it can oft times become stale. Ms. Andre has been successful in making each story independently enjoyable, while keeping it within the thread of the larger story. Alec was so jaded by his parents tragic story that he never believed he deserved love. While this isn’t a new story line, the addition of Cordelia and her relationship to Alec’s business partner added such action that the story really worked. I can’t wait to read Harry’s story.

In the third book of the New York Sullivans series, we finally get Alec Sullivan’s book. Alec encounters tragedy when his business partner has a heart attack. Sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling and highly Sullivan romantic adventure. This story is everything we have come to expect from a Sullivan romance and so much more.

Alec Sullivan is sexy, smart, charming and always believed that he was gonna be the eternal bachelor. Then his world is tilted on its ear when his business partner passes and leaves everything to Cordelia a daughter he did not know about. Cordelia is sweet, sassy and happy living her life never guessing she would inherit a fortune or be confronted by the sexiest man alive because of it. The attraction is instant and thrilling, loved every heart pounding moment.

Five warm and fuzzy stars. Bella Andre and her Sullivans have become my go-to reads when I need comforting from all the chaos of life's realities. I'm often reassured that love, friendship, and family are still some of the most important things in the world. That's why I read romance. That's why I love You Do Something To Me.

It's obvious that Bella loved writing Alec Sullivan. He's strong yet vulnerable, resolute but also unsure, tough and a softie at the same time. He's what you want your romantic hero to be - honest about his intentions and takes great care of the heroine. Cordelia is a worthy match for Alec. She has her strengths and brings out the best in him. She helps the real him to come out. She can stand on her own but is happiest when she's with him.

I really enjoyed this sweet and sexy friends-to-lovers romance. Anytime a book makes me smile and tear up, it's sure to get high marks.

Disclosure: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was so good! I think he’s my favorite among the NY Sullivans so far. Alec is just my kind of hero: protective, smart, sexy, and with just a bit of flaw to make him human. He meets his match in the beautiful and simple living Cordelia and from the very start, the chemistry was smoking. Cordelia and Alec each brought healing and love to each other and it made for a very sweet, sexy, sizzling, and yet poignant love story. I’m also happy for what’s developed in the family front for Alec! One of the bst books in the series for sure! Thanks Bella and can’t wait for Harry’s story! Will it involve a medieval princess?? Haha!

The New York Sullivans’ are back and I have fallen deeper in love with them. The Sullivans' have deep sense of family, love, bonding, friendship, life. Alex and Cordelia's journey toward each other was more than either was thinking they were missing from their lives. This time around love comes from a tragic loss. In the midst of it all they find something they never would have searched for. Getting to spend time with the Sullivans was the perfect mix of past, present, and future. This was just the dose of love that was needed to cap my week. Bella delivers another fantastic family romance that gives you more.

Narration from Eva Kaminsky has made me feel like I was coming home. She has that voice the smooths the road and makes it all worth the wait for the next installment. Eva is that staple with the Sullivan clan that lets me know all is well. She makes the characters come to life and gives a deeper connection to the entire world built around the whole family. I love her smooth flow of diction and pacing. I found the audio to be a perfect complement to Bella Andre’s work.

Begin your journey to love, life, family, friendship . . . and more . . .

With each new book in the Sullivan family series, I seem to fall in love with the hero each and every time. We had met Alec in the other books and he always seemed a bit harder than the other members of his family, so imagine my surprise when I not only fell in love with him, but he became one of my most favorite characters in the series to date.

Cordelia and Alec are as opposite as opposites can be at first glance. Alec is a partner in a billion dollar aviation business and Cordelia is happily running her little nursery in a small town. She wants nothing to do with the business she is inheriting from the birth father she never met. I loved that Alec was all ready to be all business about offering a buy out package until he saw Cordelia the first time.

I have to say I adored the instant connection between Alec and Cordelia. I felt like they each just understood each other on a level no one else ever had. Add in the smoking hot chemistry between them, and I fell so hard for them as a couple.

Each of the New York Sullivan children have every right to have issues with their father, and I so understood Alec being less inclined to be ready to forgive and have his father be a main part of his life. I think because of the time he spent with Cordelia and seeing her be open to forgiving her birth father, it helped put him on the path to forgiving his father.

I really did love everything about You Do Something to Me. It was filled with love, passion, laughter, and tears. I love a book that makes me feel so many emotions at once, and Bella Andre is a master of emotion. I highly recommend not only this book but all the books in the Sullivan Family series.

Another absolute, no questions asked, home run by Bella Andre! This is Alec's story, the oldest brother of the New York Sullivans. We met Alec in the earlier NY books and, to be honest, he was not someone who was likeable (in my opinion). You knew he carried A LOT of baggage from his childhood but he seemed to not cut anyone any slack. It made me curious how this story would change him, make him likeable/loveable as you learned his story. Alec is a billionaire who owns a private aviation firm with his partner/father figure Gordon. Gordon's unexpected death turns Alec's world upside down in many ways - most importantly, with the knowledge that he had a daughter that he had given up for adoption at birth. Enter Cordelia, Gordon's mystery daughter, whom he left his entire fortune to. With this unexpected news of her birth father and inheritance, her world is also turned upside down and she and Alec start to help each other, as they develop a friendship, work their way through all these ups and downs. Their story is one of heartache, self-discovery, friendship, love and loss and it was absolutely fantastic. I could not put it down, read it in less than a day am now counting the days for the next Sullivan series book :)

“The harder they resist, they harder they fall..”

This one was just so perfect...!! I loved how every scene was so beautifully written... how each point was tackled and then the story moved to the other part.. how well the characters complimented each other and did justice... I especially loved how Alec was with Cordelia and how she seemed to understand what Alec always needed...

It’s a perfect and wonderful read... I am so in love with these Sullivans now...!!

ARC review- Once again Bella Andre has given us another Sullivan hit. Alec and Cordelia both need to come to terms with the death of Gordon, a father figure and a birth father that was a mystery. I think they both helped each other over come their issues with their birth fathers and to realize that they found true love in the process. I love that all of the Sullivan's are so down to earth (literally this time). I cannot wait to read the next Sullivan adventure!

Never Tire Reading Sullivan Storie

Cordelia and Alec's story will warm and break your heart, especially Alec. Not for one moment did I not like him, I just kept hope he could get over his hurt and anger. Cordelia was perfect for him. If you believe love can conquer most things, this story is for you, and if you don't believe maybe this story will help you start. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance.

A fantastic story - I love Bella Andre's writing style - you can't go wrong with one of her books. The Sullivan's saga continues and it just keeps getting better and better with each new couple. I love how each book is not only about a new couple but also encompasses members of the Sullivan clan from previous books. This book was about Alex, the co-owner of a private aviation business, who has sworn off long term relationships for himself though he envies his siblings and their forever mates. But when he meets Cordelia, his business partner's daughter (one he never knew existed) to whom he has left his share of the business upon his passing Alex has mixed emotions about everything he holds dear. The two become friends but can it be anything more than that when they come from such different backgrounds while Cordelia is looking for her forever mate, Alex doesn't believe in forever relationships. I look forward to the next book in this family series.

Alec and Cordelia... 4 flying stars!!!

As you'll see on my Goodreads profile, I'm a die-hard Bella Andre fan... And it's difficult not to get excited when she publishes something new.

This book was no exception to the goodness that flows out of this woman's pen... I really liked the main characters and it was great to see some of the other Sullivans too...

Storyline was interesting and the sexy times... off the charts hot!!!

If you haven't read this series yet...what are you waiting for?!
