Here, Alice underlines what differentiates social realist works from "field or social genre in general" (where slums, workers, beggars, peasants, etc. are taken as subjects): the former has is aware of the "contradictions in society."

Alice Guillermo approached this book in a sensible manner in which she really dwells the perspectives of our local social realist artists and its correlation to the development of our national identity
