The Confidence Solution: Seven Steps to Confidence

Rate this book
Following on from The Anxiety Solution , Chloe teaches readers how to build confidence and become more assertive.

Many young women struggle with confidence, compulsive people-pleasing, and an inability to speak up and ask for what they really want. Now, Chloe Brotheridge offers her expert advice on how young women should take up space, speak up, and put themselves first.

We often think that confidence is either something we have or don't have, but it can be built like a muscle. Chloe herself used to have panic attacks during presentations but can now confidently present to hundreds of people. The key to her transformation was to create more time and space for herself, to say 'no' to things that aren't in her own best interests, and to stop worrying about what other people think of her.

The Confidence Solution reveals how everyone can follow their path to confidence.

I really liked how the author provided specific strategies and summaries at the end of each chapter. She provided realistic and practical examples of how to gain confidence gradually.

i'm sorry chloe brotheridge. i think this is a good book but maybe for a 14 year old who is just starting to form into a person. i'm 24 and this really didn't teach me anything new. maybe if you've never tried therapy before, reading this might be insightful. i just felt like it was lacking, especially in terms of discussion around body image issues and beauty standards. i feel like the author tried to push really hard for this to be a female empowerment literary work, but i get the sense that her heart wasn't fully in it. i suppose i can just chalk it up to the book being written during the internet body positivity era. still, that just implies it's outdated.

this felt more like a really long blog post than a book. i did like the exercises and summaries at the end of each chapter though.

TLDR it's not bad, it's just, like, whatever. there's better books out there.

I have deeply enjoyed reading and learning from this book. It approaches confidence from different perspectives, which helps you understand specific behaviours or thought patterns that influence your confidence and how you feel overall. It is structured in concise chapters, most of them providing exercises which help in better understanding and applying the learnings. Some exercises require introspection and take time to get absorbed, so it may lengthen the reading process.

Such a relatable book! Made me feel a lot less alone and a lot more normal, gave me lots of food for thought and actual physical things I can do for self development which was incredibly helpful! I actually got the book out of the library but definitely need my own copy to refer back to! All I can say is thank you Chloe!
