Well, I finished it
I enjoyed the previous 3 books in this series, so this one was a real disappointment. Nothing dramatic happened, so you can safely skip it and read the next one.
What went wrong? I think the book desperately needed another round of editing. Occasional bad spelling and grammar aside, I found the first third of the book confusing. Logan acts out of character and seems to have no strategy for dealing with Indigo. His thoughts and actions make no sense, and Indigo isn't much better. This isn't just a case of wanting to slap the characters for not seeing the obvious. This is a case of me wondering over and over, "who would think that in this situation?"
Indigo is a teddy bear: good looking, but not very talkative or proactive. He has no career, no talents, and no hobbies. He's sweet in as generic a way as possible. He takes action exactly three times in the book, and one of them made no sense, considering his complete passivity and lack of strategy when it came to Logan.
Logan we know from previous books. He was smart, cranky, and witty with (if I'm remembering this right) a sharp sense of humor. I guess I remembered how he looked wrong, because in my head, he was at least average height and well-muscled. He isn't described in this book at all, except his dirty blonde hair and maybe his eye color. I did not expect him to have a mate who could throw him around. I think not describing him was a big mistake. It's been a while since the last book came out.
Finally, the pacing seemed off. Part of that is the typical Omegaverse (this is not Omegaverse, but close) tendency to have a romance end with babies being born. I felt like the novel was done halfway through. It helps to have another source of conflict beyond the main characters to pull the reader to the end.
Are Logan and Indigo good together? If the number of times they have sex is any indication, then yes. Otherwise, I have to say no. Indigo is the kind of partner who will give anything to make his guy happy. Logan is a cranky guy who complains about everything, which would ultimately stress Indigo out if he was a real person. And I wouldn't think someone "sweet and romantic" would be top of Logan's list.
If you just want a low-angst romance with no physical danger, this is that, but there are better ones.
