Raw, scorned, and finally free from my disastrous marriage, I flee the lies, humiliation, and manipulation of my old life like a bat out of hell, leaving it all in my rearview mirror.
Seduced by the sunny, diverse, laid-back Denver, Colorado, I settle in and set up a new life.
New job. New house. New friends… Freedom.
The idea was to start over. Fresh. Anew. But I didn’t anticipate starting over with my twenty-year-old student.
Nero Gunnar might be twelve years my junior, but he’s the manliest man I’ve ever met. He has his sights set on me and he’s not letting up.
It’s wrong. Forbidden. A disaster waiting to happen.
But sinful wrongs have never tasted so, so sweet.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a dark romance. This is not an erotica. The Biker and the Professor is a sexy, unconventional contemporary romance novella at approximately 43k words.
Once again we have a very wishy washy heroine. I understand how you can lose yourself in a relationship so much that once it’s over you’re lost, however her indecisive behavior was next level. When a 20-year old is more mature that someone in her 30s, you know she has issues. Instead of spending so much of the book on the back and forth, I would have preferred to read more about how they build a life together with all the different challenges. I absolutely adored Nero and his focus. Digging below the surface of who he was would have been great too. As an aside, more info on Toni’s family would have been beneficial to the story.
3.5 ⭐ This book has one of my favorite tropes. Toni is a professor and has a crush on one of her students_ Nero_ who is a member in The MC club. I liked the book, it was a decent read.
I have been a huge fan of this author since I first discovered her. There was just something about the way that she writes that resonated with me. I have been patiently waiting for new words from this author and she finally delivered.
For only being a novella-length book, this sure packed a lot of story. There was a foundation in the story that offered me a chance to get to know what made Neo and Toni tick. Not only in regard to the other but in who they were individually. Even though the author did a fantastic job of creating a full story in a short space of time, my only gripe was that it wasn't longer. I found I did want a full story and certain parts expanded on. Yet, I will not rank it down because of that. Instead, I will appreciate the short but stellar story and new words from one of my one-click authors.
Romance genre: MC; Age gap Series: Oil and Water Length: 137 pages
Plot: Toni is a new calculus professor at the local college, and finds herself with an inappropriate crush on her 20-year old student, Nero. She's 32 years old and fresh off of a bad divorce, but that crush is definitely reciprocated. However, Nero's determined to make this more than just a one-off, and he bides his time until he feels Toni is ready. The question is, will Toni ever be completely ready?
Commentary: I think a lot was made of Nero being so mature (mostly, he was the one making something of it), but sometimes he was quick to judge Toni without thinking of things from her point of view, and I didn't think much of that, maturity-wise. He was only twenty - if he wasn't always mature, that was okay! But when the situation connected to Toni's job, I think she had the right to be hesitant and think things through. It's her livlihood, after all, and he's not the one who would suffer if word of their relationship got around. That part made me mad. He wouldn't even listen to her, and for him, it was all or nothing, which is nice in theory, but doesn't always pratically work. But otherwise, he was definitely a great alpha hero. Toni was a little back-and-forth, but she's older than Nero and has more relationship experience, very particular experience that made her consider if what felt good now would still work in the future. Both characters were flawed, but in the end, still likeable.
Three big problems, 1. The author creates two awful characters. They are horrible people. 2. The author serms to be using the biker genre to sell her books, the title claimimg these are Bikers but in three of the four books so far she has them deciding they don't want to be a biker from the begining of each of thee book. 2. 3. It's a basic outline very similar to Giana Darling's Fallen Men Book 1.
1. The author creates two awful characters. They are horrible people. The hero has his two best friends beat the crap out of his physics teacher who he says he really likes snd is a good guy and a good and postive teacher, all becaise he's jealous that teacher took another tracher, the heroine, on a date. He had his friends not onmy key the guys xar but beat him bloody. Thats not okay. The teacher didbt even know Grunt liked the heroine.
They are both awful characters and seriously immature. There are so many instances of immaturity here. The heroine argues to pay half the cost to get her car fixed, as if that somehow makes her an independent older woman. Ah, it's her car, she crashed it, she should be paying her own full bill! Not leaving it to her twenty year old student to pay the rest, when he had nothing to do with the car or her crashing it. Argh! That was irritating.
That scene made this like a badly copied outpine version Ms Darling's book, bevause it missed out the detail of King arguing that he covered the majority of the cost because he'd done all the work to fix the car himself etc. In this book, without that kind of detail, it made the heroine a pathetic woman who didn't pay her own damn bills. As I read further the author does actually give that as the reason he charged her so little, again making me disappointed about the similarly of this book to book 1 in the Fallen Men MC.
As for the hero Grunt, again it was like this author copied the plot from King's book but without the detail of the characters. So he just came off as being rude, bossy and unlikable. While I get the author made Grunt bossy to try to make him appear more mature than twenty years old, to make it okay that his thirty two year old teacher has sex with him, it wasn't done well.
The author continues to makes the heroine so immature and so unlikable, she gives her students a test and extra work assignments all because she's in a bad mood just because he didn't show for class. Then has the heroine throwing herself at him just because he missed a couple of classes. Seriously these characters are ridicuoous, immature children and not enjoyable to read. And just really don't like how the author used the Biker genre in her clearly not Biker books.
3. Didn't like that the author doesn't seem to read or like the biker/MC genre and is only using its popularity to sell her books. After reading two other of these books this author has called her, The Biker And The... series the author has her heros not be bikers anymore???
Colour me confused. From the beginning of this book Grunt is livid someone brought the heroine to the club, he's so against his own club and people, despite them all being his family, his friends, that doesn't want the woman he likes anywhere near the club. Literally in all three books I've read the author has the heros being so derogatory to the club, and deciding they don't want to be a biker anymore. So I've no idea why the heck she has labelled these with Biker titles.
It felt like the author is using the popularity of the biker genre to make money, while actually looking down on and disliking anything biker and the genre, to the degree that she majes them.not bikers. If she was being honest about her books she should have called them The student and the professor, The commando and the loner, and The buisness man and the baker, not the biker and the professor, the biker and the loner, and the biker and the baker.
I've read hundreds of MC books and many have the heros in clubs that are doing illegal atuff they don't like, and some have an MC member leave the club to live a "non" MC life, that's not the problem. The problem is that this author is just slapping Biker into her title and plasteting Biker across her cover to get sales, while making her characters not be bikers anymore. Hello? Clearly not cool.
It would be like the author claiming she has written a Curvy Girl series, slapping Curvy Girl in the titles and plasteting Curvy Girl over her covers, and images of curvy women on every cover but having every curvy heroine in all the books starve themselves to stick thin during the books, all while still claiming they were Curvy girl stories. Yeah. No. No, they're not.
Even the terminology the author uses in these supposed Biker books appears strong proof that she doesn't read the biker/MC genre herself, because she gets it all wrong. For example, she writes "the motorist slows to a stop. A biker isn't a motorist, a motirist drives a car, motorcar, hence motorist. A biker rides a bike and is called a rider.
Another example, biker names are not called their "street names". Bikers are given "road names". These are very basic things from tje biker/MC genre that the author got wrong. To me it shows she doesn't seem to read or like the genre and is just using its popularity to try to sell her books.
3. I didn't say anything on the previous book I read by this author because it was onmy one scene and Amazon has banned me from ever leaving reviews on amazon itself and deleted all my years of reviews, even my 5 star ones, because I've said a few times now when I come across a book that has a plot too similitude to another author's book, Amazon cleanly don't like that.
But in the Biker and the Loner, the first sex scene reninded me a lot of a scene in another book I read on Wattpad years ago but the entire plot and characters of this book is too similar to book 1 in Giana Darling's Fallen Men series, with King, a student who falls in insta love with his 12 years older than him teacher, published in 2017. It even has a character with an eye patch like Cy in the Fallen Men.
While book 2, Welcome To The Darkside in that Fallen Men series is one of my favorite ever MC books, it's actually the only book by that author I like, all the rest of Giana Darling's books bored me, including book one with King and Cress, which this reminds me of. I didn't like the immature, judgemental hetoine in that book either.
So, I'm not some uber fan of that author who saw a glimmer of similarly with the plot here and shouted copy cat. Maybe it's actually okay this has a similar plot/characters because maybe there's no real unique plots anymore. But I didn't like this book because the aithor ceeated two hideously horrible characters, who are not only seriously immature but are also horrible people, who beat the crap out of someone they like. No. No thanks.
From the first chapter of this book, I was intrigued by the storyline and the characters. The story is told in first person with the antagonists’ POV. Toni received more time than Nero. Nero was a fascinating character and I would have loved to hear more of his thoughts. Toni and Nero should not have fit together but they did. She is a wealthy college professor....working mainly to stay busy. Nero is a 20 year old college student who is also a member of a biker gang. He makes his presence felt in Toni’s class by the dent of his personality and does not mask his need for her. He is controlling but not in a negative or demeaning way. They embark on a relationship but Toni is worried by all of the things that would hamper them being together. She tells him she loves him and then promptly breaks up with him. I enjoyed how they reconnected with Toni moving from passive acceptance of what others wanted for her to being able to take charge of her own happiness.
I loved Gunnar, his personality, his outlòok in life the way he loves&commands Toni without being an a#***le about it,Ann just created a new type of MC since ever and believe me I have read my fare share since I was 16 but this one made my day in a way that others pale in comparison, he made this dynamic duo work and rise above adversity and learn to trust each other.....please keep on burning pages and coming up with brilliant characters like Nero, such a breath of fresh air 😍😍😍😍
S. Ann Cole did a good job on this story, the plot was written well. Nero and Toni may have opposites but they were made for each other. The attraction was strong between them, they were drawn to one another. Their chemistry was steamy, they were great together. I enjoyed this story. Thanks, S. Ann Cole. Good work :)
I read this spontaneously because it was free on kindle, and i enjoyed it for the most part. Toward the end the heroine acted so immature and not like a 32 year old women. Her 20 year old love interested was more mature than her.
I accidentally purchased this boring piece of poop. I thought it was a "read for free" book. By the time I realized it wasn't, it was too late. This woman acted younger than the 20 year old. Hated this mess. Money wasted.
I think Nero/Grunt is truly beyond his years and that made this context super attractive and, me, very attentive. Nero is so smooth and I would greatly want to be his obsession.
I’m hung critic of characters growing, well Toni grew in this book. She is fantastic, super braver and clever.
Age gap, not a super big issue. I thought, wow this is a major reversal for me but the author killed this story.
The story has a distinct pull. The reader will see it instantly. Author keeps it very engaging.
This book does not have much steam, it’s very mild and demure. But I still enjoyed it. I’m super curious about book 3 and 4. Really, I found Kenny to be super unsupportive (she has a moment we’re I supported her antics.
Toni, running from a marriage that ruined her reputation and her self esteem finds herself driving across country with no need to work ever again. When she reaches Denver, she realizes she’s home. Nero, Grunt to the brothers in the MC is looking for a better life. He wants a degree, a legit job, and his hot math teacher - Toni. They flirt harmlessly for months until she ends up in a ditch one night to fix a Cherry Garcia craving and he happens to be the one to save the damsel in distress. Things get complicated from there. Will they make things work? Will she accept he’s her student? Can she accept the MC? Read to find out!
S. Ann Cole is an amazing author. I enjoyed every moment of this book and I was hooked from the first paragraph. The story and character development were impeccable. The love was so evident and the fact that these to polar oppositesnwere so different because they both needed love they didn't know th dry needed and their differences was what made it such an interesting read. This is a must. I look forward to discovering more of her work.
Toni Blume has an admirer, but she prefers him to stay afar. Nero Gunnar is fine to do so, but a chance encounter brings him closer. Is Toni ready for that?
This is an age gap romance at its heart, but also an “other side of the tracks” romance. It is both long enough and a quick read. I ultimately had no issues with the story itself.
The characters, tho? Nero was pushy and Toni jumped to every conclusion. They were both flawed but I loved it.
If you like an Age Gap Romance and Motor Cycle Gangs, this one is for you.
There are so many parts to Nero and Toni that shouldn’t work together, but they do, beautifully. I loved this tough MC member and his saucy professor.
The book is written very well, and made me think of how it doesn’t matter how different people are, they can make anything work when they commit to it. This is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed her story.
This is a sexy older woman/younger man, opposites attract, MC book. Quick read, with plenty of heat, and BWWM. Professor Toni falls for one of her students, Gunnar, who engages in a little light stalking. One night her car ends up in a ditch and he is there to help her out, which starts a passionate relationship between them. Gunnar is your typical alpha male, but definitely not an alpha-hole. Great intro into this series.
In today's world a teacher is not to get involved with her or his students but in this story I don't think that anyone can tell Gunner what he can and cannot have and Toni the professor is what he wants, a woman loves a bad boy and a bad boy likes intelligent women even if their difference in age, I like this story and glad that the professor Toni made her decision and let herself love again
This was a great read that reminded me of how much I like a reverse age gap. Coming from an emotionally abusive marriage, the female main character has some issues to get through before she can accept love in her life again. It takes one determined biker who's several years her junior to break down her walls.
I have really enjoyed reading this book, the author did such a great job developing the characters, that I feel like I really know them, and not just the major characters, but the minor ones too. The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story.
This review has been voluntarily submitted for your consideration.
I normally hate teacher/student books but this one was done so well every single character was amazing. Their romance was so fun and sexy and smart and just wonderfully done. Plus she was a grown woman not some barely legal nonsense that seems to be all the rage lately.
I thought this story was going to be so cliche, I thought I was going to chuck it after a few chapters. Yet, I'm happy to say that I absolutely love this story. Great job with the writing, flow, and content. As long as you produce stories like this, I will read them.
As the mom of an only son, it was difficult not to be bias. I am not a fan of a woman being that much older than a guy, especially given his age. That being said, Nero was a stand-up guy, with a good head on his shoulders. Older guys could learn a lot from him. Interesting story.
First read by this author and it was not a disappointment. Love the plot, the flow and the characters. Was concerning about the age difference but it was tastefully written. Hot and all alpha male. Love it. Can't wait to read the next book
Nero Love for her was beyond her imagination. The professor was very indecisive because of the abusive relationships she has been in. So you have to read the book, to understand love and the chairs moments which she have for this bad.
Very rare have I read about a romance with a cougar but I truly enjoyed this one. I loved it. The biker knew what he wanted went for it. They complimented each other.
This novel came as a recommendation. I. Was. Not. Disappointed. In fact, it was really good & the characters were well developed. It's nice to have options and a goal. Would like to see another novel or two with the characters older and any struggles they may encounter.
I don’t like the older female age gap romances. Usually! But this story right here was fire! Alpha, sexy and tender! So glad I read this one! Loved “Grunt” /Neo!
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
