Intelligent Stock Market Trading and Investment: Quick and Easy Guide to Stock Market Investment for Absolute Beginners

Rate this book
Very few careers can offer you the freedom, flexibility and income that active trading does. As a trader, you can live and work anywhere in the world. You can decide when to work and when not to work. You may only answer to yourself. That is the life of a successful day trader; but it is not easy to achieve and very few succeed.

In the book, I describe the fundamentals of day trading, explain how day trading is different from other styles of trading and investment, and elaborate on important trading strategies that many traders use every day. I've kept the book short so you can actually finish reading it and not get bored by the middle.

For beginner traders, this book gives you an understanding of where to start, how to start, what to expect from day trading, and how to develop your strategy. Simply reading this book, however, will not make you a profitable trader. Profit in trading does not come with reading a book or two or browsing online. It comes with practice, the right tools and software and appropriate ongoing education.

Intermediate traders may benefit from the book's extensive overview of some of the classic strategies that the majority of retail traders regularly use with proven success. If you think you are beyond the stage of a novice trader, then you may want to jump ahead and start reading from Chapter 7 for an overview of the most important day trading

Day trading is not gambling or a hobby. You must approach trading very, very seriously. As such, I wake up early, go for a run, take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and fire up my trading station before the markets open in New York. I am awake. I am alert. I am motivated when I sit down and start working on the list of stocks I will watch that day. This morning routine has tremendously helped my mental preparation for coming into the market. Whatever your routine is, starting the morning in a similar fashion will pay invaluable dividends.

Bait and Switch

The book is interesting for beginners, but don't trust the promise of joining his community of traders for free. Once you apply, he will tell you that the community used to be free, but now you have to pay and you can join for 7 days foe free. So the guy throw in some interesting ideas, but the overall goal of the book is to sell you his community for "free". Makes you wonder if the guy is so good, why he has to use bait and switch tactics. You don't need to buy this book. His advice is very basic and you can find tons of similar advice for free on the internet. I read the book through kindle unlimited, but i won't buy it.

I feel like I need a disclaimer for any of my friends on goodreads that go through and see this book here (all three of you currently). I went through a two day phase of wanting to build an algorithm that day traded stocks and this was part of the "research" phase.

It was actually a decent introduction to the principles of day trading. The best part of the book was about risk and money management, but even that was pretty basic. TL;DR don't risk more than 2% of your account on one trade.

It takes stock trading very seriously, comparing it to running a business. I don't think I'm one to argue, but it all seems rather silly in hindsight. Something like 80 to 90% of day traders lose money: it seems naive to have the confidence to think you can beat them. But then again, this is the era of Robinhood and r/WallStreetBets so who even cares.

As for my algorithm project, it started as a lovely idea. A little Raspberry Pi with a LCD screen that would trade stocks for me. Two days of research and a book later and I find myself wondering why I didn't realize that if this was easy, everyone would be doing it. Suffice to say it isn't easy. The data is hard to gather and clean. The algorithm needs to run on a viable strategy and all of the popular ones aren't exactly profitable, nor applicable to algorithmic trading. There so many inefficiencies that need to be accounted for, including slippage, the spread, liquidity, commissions, and backtesting biases, just to name a few.

I don't want to say I'm giving up on this side project because that feels icky. I've just learned enough to know that I don't know enough to make this yet. Yes, it's frustrating, but it's also something to work towards eventually. For now though, all the money is "safe" away in ETF's.

Not just what I need to know, but what I did not know I needed to know?

I have read the revised 2022 version of this book. The updates and extra case studies are excellent.

I am below an amature at trading. Right now, I am trying to gather as much information as possible. This book is a fountain of knowledge. It does not just tell me the basics of what I want to know but so many things I had no idea I even need to know. However, the book foes stress. There is no substitute for experience. Until try (preferably in a simulator first) day trading, you will never get a feel for it.

The other great thing about the book is highlighting the difference between gambling and day trading. The fact that day trading is not a get rich quick scheme. As quickly as you make profits, you can make losses. Risk management, strategy, and resilience are key to day trading.

The book goes through a number of strategies, rules, and principles that have worked for Andrew. There is also a case study of another successful day trader using different strategies to Andrew. Going back to the fact that through experience, everyone needs to find their own style/edge to day trading.

The book finishes with a summary of Andrew's rules and a glossary of terms. I would highly recommend this book to anyone beginning or at the information gathering phase of day trading.

How to make $1000 daily

This kind of day trading has been repeatedly and statistically proven to be a losers game. While the book contains some useful basic information on how to understand market information, it also contains quite a bit of pseudo scientific strategies that on average do not work (some gamblers win in the short run). Most importantly, however, this book fails to provide sufficient information on the transaction, borrowing, and fiscal costs associated with such high turnover trading, and how all that stack the odds heavily against the day trader.

Very good book for beginners

Very good book for beginners. Well structured, explains basic strategies as well as overall traders mindset, psychology and the approach to the trading as any other business. What helped me was the authors comment, that almost every month he had bad day when he reconsiders if he should continue daytrading.

I went into this with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised by the book. I think I've seen a few too many youtube "start making thousands per day" ads since I had added this into my kindle queue and expected that.

Instead, I read a book that emphasized that day trading is a job, it's hard work, it's not going to make you rich, etc. All messages of which I approve. While there is a little bit of selling of the author's service, it's very much a soft sell, and other alternatives are mentioned.

In short, the author didn't seem like a slime. I'm glad.

Having read it, I'm not sure if day trading is for me or not. I'm very interested in the idea of day trading, but suspect swing trading may suit my personality better. It would definitely fit my lifestyle better, having spent the past 2 years not working as I went to school instead. I enjoy having regular income right now too much to want to go 6 months or a year without it as I learn the ropes. And, if I were to ever decide I could afford that time, I'd also need to money to work with. Given my current allocations (mostly in IRA / Roth accounts with very little in savings), I'd trade for several years before I could afford to live on what I made!

Excellent advice for day trading

I picked this book on sale as I had interest in learning about the stock market and how to make money out of it. I always felt that it was easy....if you knew what you were doing. But I had no idea how to learn it. After reading an intro book, I read this one and I am so glad I did. I did not know about simulators and this above all will help when I start trading. I had just assumed that I would open an account with a low balance, and then buy penny stocks as a crash course in learning live, knowing that I would lose my money but gain knowledge. This book has changed my mind and brought up enough suggestions to understand that there are better ways to learn. I will be opening an account, but will use only the simulator until I feel ready to start very small, with a very small goal of making (literally) a few dollars. Once I start making that small profit, I can scale up. There is a ton of useful information in this book that has really opened my mind. I plan on learning one method until I feel comfortable with it to then try another. I am really excited to try it. I dont plan to day trade much, and may even change to swing trading, but this book really gave me some great ideas and cautions. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in playing the stock market, and not just day trading.

Beginner Day Traders Should Start Here

Andrew Aziz offers a simple but straightforward and very honest take on Day Trading for beginners. His motivations for writing this book are clear, and that is he wants you to learn the fundamentals of Day Trading correctly. This is not a get rich or make profit quick book. This book is more of a teacher who teaches you discipline which in the long run is more valuable the immediate gains.

The trading strategies thought are very straightforward and valuable. But the things I didn’t know was the symphony of tools and steps that goes into trading well. He goes into the tools that you need and why they’re important for traders. After going through the book I feel I accomplished something really important. I gain the right perspective of Day Trading unlike some of the materials I’ve seen in the past where the training wasn’t as thoroughly done. If you do the work in the right way then you’re more likely to get success and this book really nailed that.

If you’re skeptical about my review you should just read the book. At the very least you’ll have a good reference in your library for Day Trading.

Happy Learning.

An easy to read and understand, informative, consize, and extremely useful book

This book is a rare find. It is extremely easy to read and follow. It is not too technical, which makes it great for new traders. It contains very useful information on trading proces, how to get better, how to practice, what to focus on what not to focus on, on the psychology side of things...boy, I really enjoyed reading this book...going to read it again now. MUST READ FOR BEGINNERS.
I actually relate to the writer A LOT: I also have a PhD in science and also got laid off from my research job, like Andrew, recently. I am trying to make day trading my new career. It is so hard but reading Andrew's book helped a lot.

Great book for new day traders

He provides a lot of insights and useful ideas on what it takes to become a sucessful day trader. I’ve been studying for the past 3 months and I learned a lot in this book. However, I think this book could be shorter and have a better organization around trading strategies. He shares a lot of trading strategies examples, but I felt the explanations are kind of scattered across the book. Talking about how hard it is to be disciplined and that is normal to think day trading is not for us and we consider quitting, is important, but I felt there is too much of it. All in all, for anyone who is starting on day trading, I consider it a must read.

I feel like I was just mentored by a friend.

I was honestly sad to say goodbye when I read the last sentence of this book. I truly enjoyed reading this- it was so clear, easy to read, and helpful! It offers such great psychological lessons as well as strategic lessons critical for day trading. This book has helped my career thus far tremendously. It is amazing how Andrew truly just wants to teach and help others from the good of his heart. That is what makes this book such a great and helpful read! Thanks Andrew for all your help and guidance through this book. And Happy Trading to you too!

Awesome read

This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn and understand what day trading is all about. It gave me a whole new perspective and appreciation of day trading.

If there’s only one opportunity I could highlight, it would be good to include some trade samples that were not successful and what you’ve learned from them. This way, everyone would get the full picture why trading is not always about the wins and how we should respond in those scenarios to make us better day traders in the future.

Nevertheless, it’s still worth the purchase. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and strategy, Andrew!

One of the best books I've read for beginners. It really helped me understand what it takes to be a successful trader, and how important mindset and psychology are in this industry as well! The author also offers many valuable insights into his personal experience with day trading which made him seem very real - not just some guy on paper who doesn't know anything about your life or experiences. Nowadays many online stock market courses are also available I am trying to learn the technical concept of trading using a technical analysis course in an online medium.

Day Trading as a Choice

I enjoyed this book. I have the Kindle version. I extensively highlighted what I consider the bread and butter points presented and intend to return to this book many times as a learning aid. I am a novice at this. My experience in stock markets is very limited. Books like this give you a definite heads up on the many ways to learn to trade in real time and use simulation as a means to gain experience. The time frames are realistic, and the explanation of the processes and risks as well as how to prepare business and trading plans are meant to help you succeed

Great book for the realities of day trading

By no means would I call this a beginners book. Myself having little background in investing and trading and only reading one book on saving money this book had much to teach. From the various terms, how to read a candlestick chart, methods, different brokers and their independent benefits. The author is very blunt in day trading is NOT a get rich quick scheme and is a serious profession, as such, treat it like you would a normal 9 to 5. Great book would recommend

This book is great for beginners! A lot of information you NEED to implement to successfully day trade

I’ve honestly started implementing some information I’ve learned in this book, into my trades, in the process of reading it and have noticed success already. And that was before even finishing the book! One thing I really picked up from this book is how to properly manage your risk ratio. I Would definitely recommend reading this wether you are looking to start trading or already have started like myself.

Extremely honest and informative

I love how this book is very honest and extremely informative. It's a great book to get you in the right direction for starting to day trade, however as the book states, don't just read this book. Do your research and expand your knowledge. Many of the things covered I read in this book are the same things I've seen from multiple resources when it comes to trading. Whether that's stocks, currencies or crypto. Take what you learn and expand upon it. Make mistakes and learn from them. I would highly highly highly recommend this book.

Good Job Andrew!

Andrew Aziz does a great job summarizing day trading in a short book. The main highlights focus on the main trading strategies that work for day trading, trading psychology, tools and resources to day trade and practical points and anecdotes to tie it all together. Definitely a must read if wanting to day trade. This book doesn't contain everything, but is a great place to start. He also wrote an additional book containing advanced strategies , which is next on my list :)

Best for Rookies

This is the first Trading book I’ve read that I enjoyed from beginning to the end. Author is serious about show you what day trading really means. He shows his success and failures and always remembers you that failing is part not only of learning but also of trading career.

His rules for trading must be kept at eye level all the time!

I couldn’t recommend it more.

Reasonable suggestion for day trading

It provides basic information for day trading.
But does not warn you 95% of day traders fail to make money consistently . Most end up losing money. The reason is due to simple probability. Not money management or risk management. You can only make money if you ride a trend in the market. The market was up 9% a year. If you find the bull market and trade with the trend you can consistently make money at slightly better than market average.

An honest genuine beginner's guide to day trading

Andrew is a master at relaying concepts you need to understand to begin the process of becoming a day trader. He isn't trying to sell you a system or a subscription, rather he is taking you on a journey to begin your first steps as a real day trader. One thing I liked about his style was his ability to cut away the fat and give you the core of what you need to understand to become a day trader. Thank you Andrew.

Practical Guide to Day Trading

Trading is a difficult process. Day trading is much more complicated than being a long-term investor who buys and hold. The author breaks down the psychology, pre-trade tactics, in-trade strategies, and post-trade evaluations that will lead to becoming a successful day trader. Trading In The Zone by Mark Douglas is more philosophical about the psychology of a trader. This book nails down specific strategies to deal with both making money and losing money, which is inevitable. A recommended read for sure.

An honest book on retail trading

I have made my mistakes and yet more to make. The author has written all the lessons I learned during my amateur days in trading. That said, you will only learn from your mistakes. You will only learn to walk when you fall no matter you have the best guidance. This book is a first stepping stone that sets the right frame of mind and expectations that one needs to have in retail trading.

You feel an energy that radiates from the page

There is a distinct voice to Andrew’s writing that welcomes a novice. It’s welcoming not because Andrew is successful and smart, which he is, but there’s a genuine desire to help that stems from personal experiences and hardships from the trading profession.

I made the decision to pursue a lifelong dream two weeks ago and I’m great full this is the third book I picked up and read about the subject.

Can’t imagine a better introductory book

With only having experience with traditional investing and the curiosity of how profitable the stock market can be for the individual; this book was engaging, excellently written and educational in ways I’m sure to benefit from for years to come. I recommend anyone who has a slight bit of interest to dive deep into this book and you will not be disappointed

This book is quite repetitive and lacks real insights. It does the job of explaining trade ideas based on technical analysis of stock price based on indicators and patterns. However, all of the examples are “winning” ones, which can mislead readers into believing that they can also find and make profits just by finding these patterns illustrated in the book. Overall, this book is about the author’s experiences, not about anything scientifically proven
