What if the one person you can't trust...is yourself?

US Army Detective Regan Chase spent years lying for her country.

Until she was caught.

Her reputation as the military's premier undercover chameleon in tatters, Regan's been shunted to a Stateside post and reassigned to the grunt work of Army CID—investigations. First up, the brutal stabbing of a soldier's wife.

Instead of the domestic homicide she expects, Regan confronts the first in a series of murders and suicides brought on by the violent hallucinations plaguing a twelve-man Special Forces A-Team just back from Afghanistan. A team led by Regan's ex-lover. The very soldier responsible for the decimation of her undercover career.

As the murders and suicides mount, Regan clashes with an unforgiving, uncooperative and dangerously secretive John Garrison—and an even more secretive US Army.

The Army knows she and John have history. So why hasn't she been reassigned?

Someone wants Regan on the case. But they also want her off her game. They’re depending on it. Why else is she being followed?

What happened in that Afghan cave? Why is the Army willing to risk an entire Special Forces team to keep it secret?

Regan won't stop until she finds out. But by then, it may be too late. Another name may have already been added to that growing list of victims.

Her own.

Blind Edge is the second book in the Regan Chase series.  Regan Chase is a US Army Detective.  Agent Chase is called to the scene of a horrific crime.  After returning from a particularly intense and difficult deployment,  a soldier stabbed his pregnant wife to death and claims he had no idea what he was doing.  Before Agent Chase could even get much information on the soldier and what happened, she had another crime scene to get to with similar details.  It seems the twelve man team that just returned from a highly classified mission are becoming violent and unreliable one by one.  Agent Chase must join forces with Major John Garrison, a man from her recent past.  While fighting the powers that be in the military and the government, the two must find out what exactly happened during this deployment that is causing these soldiers to hallucinate and act out violently.

This book is a could not put down on the edge of your seat book.  Not only does this book have non-stop action but Irving also deals with the struggles soldiers face trying re-acclimate into civilian life after a deployment and the PTSD that a lot of soldiers face.  This book had me in tears as my heart broke for the soldiers that come home and are expected to just put aside the horrors they witnessed and function in normal society.  This book is extremely well written and Irving's knowledge of military places and workings is evident.  This book had me guessing at every turn with several plot twists.  Another thing that Irving does well is depicting the sense of loyalty, friendship and respect amongst soldiers that serve and have served together.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book and anything Irving writes.  I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is the second book in this series. In the first book, Special Agent Regan Chase, who is an expert undercover investigator, must switch jobs when her face is publicly exposed. She is reassigned back to the United States as a CID detective.

Regan’s new mission starts when she investigates the violent death of a soldier’s wife at the hands of her Army husband. She soon discovers that he is the member of a Special Forces team that has recently returned from Afghanistan. Regan quickly discovers that all of the members of the team are becoming sick with a mysterious, violent illness that eventually leads to their death. Regan soon uncovers the fact that her ex-lover John had headed the team.

Regan, the protagonist in this book is clearly a role model for girls and women. She is an independent, strong woman who puts her ideals and her military career first. She will go anywhere and speak to anyone without thought for her own safety or feelings. Her main goal is to unearth the truth. In fact, when John continues to stonewall her, she confronts him many times while putting aside her own feelings for him.

Ms. Irvin has created a complex plot with lots of victims and suspects. She does not make this investigation easy for Regain. Regan has to deal with a lot of military people who refuse to talk and a lot of witnesses are so sick they are unable to talk. Readers will enjoy the surprise ending.

Blind Edge is a sure-fire winner. It is a thriller, mystery, medical, and military tour de force featuring Army CID investigator Regan Chase. Starting with the murder of an Army spouse by her husband, just returned from Afghanistan, it soon spreads when the members of an elite Special Forces unit all begin experiencing hallucinations, seizures, and comas resulting in murder, violence, and suicide. In investigating the events, the mystery touches the highest echelons of the Army, stretches the limits of the medical community, and reaches from Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush, where Regan risks her life to uncover the source of the strange events. This is a book that cannot be put down. It is an exciting, adrenaline-fueled adventure, with strong characters, an original storyline, and fine writing. I highly recommend it.

Blind Edge - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

After a neurotoxin attack left Special Agent Regan Chase and her partner John in a coma, she seemed slow to recover.

Yet the Army's Colonel Chilcote needs her and within a few hours Regan's on her way to a Navy warship in the Gulf...but death is also aboard.

What information does Dr Durrani have about a traitor in the NCIS? Will justice be done?

Candace Irving's an expert when it comes to writing intense storylines, with a feisty female lead character and plenty of gritty action to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Try Blind Edge for yourself - you'll love it!

A Great Series Start!

Blind Edge is a marvelous introduction to a Candace Irving character, Regan Chase. Regan Chase is an Army CID detective, who like Candice Irving's other characters, is as smart, intelligent and strong as any of her male counterparts. Regan is not without her flaws yet she recognizes them and tries hard to not let them get in the way of doing her job. Which is why she is such a relatable character. Once again, Candace Irving has created an inspiring character women can believe in. Ms. Irving has demonstrated excellent character development skills throughout this book.

Blind Edge is categorized as a suspense thriller story. It definitely is full of nonstop edge-of-your-seat thrills and chills. Candace builds a story around one of the world's worst fears, weapons of mass destruction and who controls them, and adds her own creative twist, ratcheting up the chill factor 100 percent! Try as you might to read this book slowly and savor each thrilling word, Candice Irving's wonderful wordcraft grabs you making it impossible to put this book down.

I for one think that the dust bunnies can wait! Blind Edge is well worth living in a little mess in order to escape into the brilliant imagination of Candace Irving and her female protagonist, Regan Chase. Fall in love with a women who gives our sisterhood someone to rally about! Grab your copy of Blind Edge and see for yourself.

I really enjoyed this story. It is clear the author has a military background and a great grasp on how to write a tight, character driven story. For example (not a spoiler as it is the first few lines…. “To the twelve soldiers who’d stumbled out of the dank, icy cave, each as consumed as he was by the malevolence that had been carved into their souls”. I enjoyed the flaws presented in the lead and the relationships with all the other players in the service. Very clever story that kept me guessing right til the end. I will look for more by this author as I always enjoy supporting a fellow veteran. Go Navy!

Blind Edge by Candace Irving. (Deception Point #2)

It has been more than 12 months since the events in the novella Aimpoint. Regan Chase is back in the US and starting a new phase in her career. This book is a non stop thriller with events that could have come straight out of the news cycle. Regan and John meet again under trying circumstances and must work together to unravel the clues and find he perpetrator. A great read. 5 stars. I am eager to read the next book in this series.

WOW!

When I received an offer for Aimpoint, I thought, why not? It's now, why not sooner? Amazing read, twists and turns, believable characters, and attention to detail had my heart racing and the pages turning. Regan Chase may be one of my new favorite characters. Blind Edge is an amazing read, cover to cover. On to the next of Regan's adventures!

You will experience a wide range of emotions; I guarantee you will. All scenarios are extremely plausible, frightening even. Just read it

Good read

Fast paced, and holds your interest. Love the sleuthing, and Chief Chase is great. The twists and turns will drive you mad, but it.s worth it.

After spending well over a year trying to forget, everything comes roaring back. Special Agent Regan Chase, Army CID, was dreading another Christmas. Suddenly, a group of Special Forces soldiers from the same unit began a murder spree without even knowing what they were doing. Chief Chase drew the case, and set out to find what had happened to these men on their last operation in Afghanistan. What she found was a soldier she wasn't sure if she did or did not ever want to see again.

This 2nd book in the series was just as compelling and full of intrigue as the first. Regan Chase is a kick a$$ detective, and someone you don;t want to mess with. She's a bulldog when the case seems to be thwarting her efforts at every turn. She's not even sure she wants anything to do with HIM. But I feel she is best described as crunchy on the outside with a soft center. But still a kick a$$.

Another great novel by Candace Irvin/Irving! Fast moving, great character development, real people in real situations around the world. Humans with flaws and great traits...Regan returns to continue her journey, this time in the US and Middle East. Read this book--you won't regret it...better yet, start with Aimpoint and then read this...characters and settings will make more sense.
The book flows smoothly from the beginning to the end, with several surprises waiting for you...as well as for the main characters.
Thanks, Candace, for another bright spot during the COVID-19 Pandemic!
Stay SAFE!!!

Blind Edge: A US Army Detective Regan Chase Thriller (Deception Point Military Detective Thriller Series Book 2) , my second read from author Candace Irving, was a 412-page-read, even better than the first book, that grabbed me and kept me reading until I finished it in one sitting. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading Backblast: A US Army Detective Regan Chase Thriller (Deception Point Military Detective Thriller Series Book 3) next. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Another On-The-Edge-Of-Your-Seat Reading Delight!

As with the first on this series, I simply could NOT put it down! Though I am loath to romance type novels, that part of this book didn't matter a whit to me. The spell bounding action and intrigue kept me reading even when I should have been in bed. The characters, the story and the twisty turns kept me glued to this book. The detail of writing and the story construction were kind blowing! The characters were so fully developed as to jump off the page at the reader. Kudos, Candace!

Regan is now working for CID but no longer undercover (read Aimpoint). Her skills are really put to the test in this book. Special forces soldiers are having serious problems and no one knows why. This story grabs and holds your attention. Like a little romance with your story? Read this and find out what happens when military throws John and Regan back together. I really enjoyed my ARC of this book. I'd like a other one about them.

I enjoyed book 1 enough to get book 2, and the difference was exponential. The book had the 2 main characters and the tension between them was obvious but the storyline was just that much more exciting. This was a book that grabbed my attention and didn't let go. The plot kept shifting and shifting and the tension got tighter and I could not put it down. Excellent book. Taking a bit of a breather before I try book 3, but you know I won't last long.

There are good books and then there are great books, Blind Edge is GREAT.
I could not stop reading this thriller. If this does not turn into a series I will be very disappointed. There is mystery, suspense, love and twist galore.
This is truly one of the best books I have read. If you like mystery books, especially Military themed, then you can not afford to miss reading this one.

A fantastic book, I couldn't put it down, was annoyed last night when I realised I had to go to bed, and still had a bit to read. A book you enjoy reading and want to get to the end to find out what happens, but when you do, you are annoyed that the book is finished. Looking forward to reading more of this authors books.

Excellent, very well written and very hard to put down. The author is a master at writing believable plots and characters. I was quite impressed with this book. Lots of twists and turns, Regan and John are at odds again. But the truth of what went on in that cave and how it's still killing soldiers and their families. Really a must read.

Awesome

Ms Irving is a masterful story teller. I loved reading about strong military men and women. Special Forces are cohesive units and have each others back. CID are stubborn and smart. Excellent read.

This second of the series is every bit as good as the first.
It gives insights into the lives of servicemen/women both enlisted and officer.
We also learn more about CID Detective Chase, and what formed her life.
