Wanting to know more history than there is in school, it is nice to read about heroes, writers, and artists who helped create a better America.

Text was well written and informative. Most of the pictures were peripherally related to his life and felt like filler

Find a better biography - or even substitute a good entry in Wikipedia. This is part of a series that a local high school library has. I have so many objections to this book that I don't want to begin the log. I will try the one on Duke Ellington because I already checked it out and I will be prepared to repeat the same recommendation.
