Evan Hunter always planned to marry and raise a family on his Montana ranch, that is, until his father was diagnosed with epilepsy. He knows he might develop the same condition, and that he could pass it on to his children, and he won’t risk that, so he gives up his dreams of a wife and family.
Sally Mason has always wanted a home of her own and a houseful of children. But after leaving the orphanage where she and her best friend, Josie, grew up, she finds herself in the worst situation she could have ever imagined—a brothel near the Chicago waterfront where every day, her life is in the hands of both the brothel owner and his customers.
When Sally receives a letter from Josie explaining Evan’s situation and asking her to come to Coldwater Creek as a mail-order bride to marry him, she escapes the brothel, realizing this is her only chance for a better life.
As Evan and Sally get to know each other, their feelings grow, and Evan begins to wonder if giving Sally the children she wants to badly is worth the risk. But when her past catches up to her, it threatens to destroy any chance of a future together.
Margery Scott is the author of more than thirty-five novels, novellas and short stories in various genres, and is an avid reader of almost every genre other than horror, fantasy and sci-fi.
She lives on a lake in Canada with her husband, and when she’s not writing or travelling in search of the perfect setting for her next novel, you can usually find her wielding a pair of knitting needles or a pool cue.
This is a short, sweet mail order Bride story of sorts western by Margery Scott. She has done a great job with the plot and the characters. Evan’s father has Epilepsy, a sometimes inherited disease, causing the fear of passing it to his children if he ever fathered any. He wants marriage but is fearful. Sally is Josie friend from the orphanage and has called into prostitution and want out desperately. Josie arranged a marriage of convenience for Evan and Sally. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
2. Sally (Brides of Coldwater Creek Book 2) by Margery Scott (Author) 4 Stars I purchased a copy of the clean, historical Old West short novel Sally (Brides of Coldwater Creek Book 2) by Margery Scott and this review was given freely. A touching story of finding love and family despite an abusive past and the potential of an inherited disease. Depressed and lonely after being rejected again out of the fear concerning his father’s epilepsy being hereditary, Evan Hunter accepts Josie’s suggestion to save her friend Sally Manson from the abusive life of prostitution.
I enjoyed reading about Sally and Evan in this book. Sally comes to Coldwater Creek at a request of her dear friend, from the orphanage they both grew up in. Sally had a hard life in Chicago working in a saloon. Evans life was hard because no woman wanted to merry him because of his father. Yet when Love is in the air you never know. Enjoyable read.
Basic premise that she was a prositute and that prostituion was openly discussed amoung main characters is quite unique. Chapter 13. " don't let fear of the future ruin your present." Her good deeds outweigh any of herprevious life's actions.

This is the second book in the Brides of Coldwater Creek series. It is the story of rancher Evan Hunter and “soiled dove” Sally Mason. Sally’s friend Josie had recently come to Coldwater Creek as a mail-order bride and she had been encouraging Sally to do the same. Can Sally overcome her past?
I enjoyed reading this book. Well written. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading historical romance books. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I really liked Josie’s story and the next book in the series does not disappoint. Sally was a very sweet character that made it easy to root for her finding her happiness.
