Froize Trilogy #1

Slave of Froize

Rate this book
"Eat your vegetables or the undead will come for you."
They told children stories of vampires and gleanings to scare them into doing chores. No one believed them, not even the ones who told the stories.

They were all true.

At a very young age, Laramie has been forced to live a nightmare that she can not break free from. She was part of one of the largest gleanings the humans have endured in centuries and she lives out her days as a captive and a servant in a kingdom that is hidden from the human world and filled with bloodthirsty vampires.

Laramie is rocketed from a lowly captive with a ruthless master to a personal pet and worker for the newly appointed King of Froize, Jett. Despite his distaste for the politics and formality that comes with being King, he has no choice but to become what all of the advisors demand he become.

In a kingdom where humans are looked upon as nothing more than laborers and prey Laramie knows she must do whatever she can to stay alive.

Will she fall just like every other captive has before her? Will Jett become the ruthless and dark king the other royals crave? Will the feelings they fight so hard to hide break them both?

A heroine to get behind!

Ok I looooooovvvveeeedddd Laramie. She was strong and smart and compassionate. I am very picky about female mcs because I know so many amazing women in real life that a lot of times the women in books are lackluster. This was not the case with Laramie. The writing was also really great, with the story being engaging and flowing smoothly. King Jett is kinda meh. I liked that he didn’t immediately fall for her and treat her differently. That happens too often in books where people are supposed to fear the ruler but right away the female mc is a soft spot. I liked the tentative friendship they struck up, but gosh he was just kind of spineless when it came to leading. And when it came to the queen. I just wanted more from him. Actually I was rooting for Tahmas until the epilogue. This was published in 2020 so I don’t know that we’ll get the other two books but I would enjoy seeing where she could take the story and characters.
I wish the author would have added TW/CW. But since she didn’t I will to my review
TW/CW: semi graphic torture and the aftermath the hotbox scene is ROUGH. Abuse where the vampires treat the humans very badly.

Could u some tweaks

I enjoyed Slave of Froize. Good plot, interesting characters, and lots of violence. I found the Prince Jett to be weak and not worth swooning over. So luckily while the book does have a small romance component, it is not the main focus. I found Laramie to be like a mama and common sense advisor to him. And in this world of cut throat vampires, I don't see why she could have survived so long with her smart mouth and the violent beatings. Also how is vampire spit so acidic but they can kiss and bed humans. So while I enjoyed the story, there was some issues for me. Anyway glad it ends all wrapped up foe the most part because I will. Pt be continuing the trilogy.

"Slave of Froize" has a lot of good ideas and is a pleasant read but is let down by poor plotting.
Laramie has been a slave of the vampire Froize Kingdom since childhood.
Now a young woman she saves the life of their king, Jett, and is elevated to the position of his personal assistant. She's still a slave subject to the whims of every vampire around but is somewhat protected by the King.
Without any formal education and with no experience except in slavery she still manages, time after time, to solve the problems faced by Jett. It doesn't ring true and little attempt is made to explain it.

Great story.

This story was exciting, but also far from a romance. The human nature that refuses to be kept down was very much in this situation. I would recommend this book to anyone.
