Another warm story from Janet. He never thought he would be a family man. He never was sure he would go back where he grew up. But he got a letter that led him home and his life changed for ever. And Mrs. Hargrove was still there! Praise God!

I've read every Dry Creek book in this series and love them all. You don't have read them to read this book, however. Each book can be read without reading the others. The characters in this book are people who have been let down in life, especially family. Mark doesn't even have a family and Bailey has a darling 5 year old daughter, Rosie, and is pregnant but her dead husband was a jerk. Mark comes back to Dry Creek when his foster father passes away and leaves him an inheritance. He and Bailey were childhood friends and Mark wants to help Bailey in her current condition. I loved the secondary characters, they added a lot to the story. Rosie was darling! A story that makes you think about the importance of family and being kind to others.

Mark is out of the army with a cane to help him walk.
It is a bumpy road to romance for he and Bailey .. nice HEA.
Bailey is newly widowed (bad marriage) at start of book with cute almost 5 yr. old red-headed daughter named Rosie. She is also very pregnant.
Wise Mrs. Hargrove (elderly Sun. school teacher) is catalyst for hero’s salvation.
Clean romance.
Josh (the other cowboy hand) is seeing the pregnant Emma - remember the lawyer scene at this book’s start; if she has a boy .. she inherits quite a bit.

This is Bailey and Junior Rosen's story.
This is Bailey and Rosie Rosen and Mark Dakota's story.
She had loved Junior when she married him seven years ago, or, at least, she’d thought she did.
Maybe it hadn’t been a grand romance, but, right up to the day he died, she had intended to make a good home with him.
That’s all she ever wanted: to feel she had a place in the world. An orphan was too easily set aside and she never had felt the steady support of a family. She’d thought she’d find that by marrying Junior.
“Junior isn’t with us anymore,” she finally said somberly. “Took off on the rodeo circuit, did he?” Mark whispered a guess as they started moving again.
“He always said he’d do that someday.” Bailey shook her head. They were beside the open hole. She spoke in a low voice. “No, that’s not it. He’s dead. Car wreck. Alcohol. The usual.”
This is Bailey and Rosie Rosen and Mark Dakota's story.
Soon the music was absorbing all Bailey’s attention. Rosie was dancing her heart out, a big smile on her face and her copper-red curls bouncing in time with the song she had chosen.
Mark seemed to instinctively know when a twirl was needed, and he held his hand out so he could steady Rosie in her moment of glory.
Bailey sighed as she saw her old friend gallantly help her daughter twist and turn. No matter what happened next in any of their lives, Bailey knew she would never forget this dance practice.
Neither Mark nor her daughter was dressed in their finery, but the expressions of pure joy on each of their faces were perfect.
They gave her hope for the future. Maybe having Mark for a friend would be enough for the both of them...
I highly recommend reading.
HIS DRY CREEK INHERITANCE by Janet Tronstad is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Janet Tronstad.

His Dry Creek Inheritance by Janet Tronstad
Dry Creek Series
Mark Dakota was an orphan who ended up on the Rosen Ranch in Dry Creek, Montana. Eli Rosen wasn’t much of a father figure. Mark lived in the bunkhouse and worked the ranch like hired help…without the pay. After being injured while in the military, he returns to Dry Creek after receiving a letter from Eli. Things were quite different from when he’d left.
Bailey Rosen was a widow with one daughter and a baby on the way. Now, her father-in-law has passed away, and there are even more complications when it comes to the will. Thankfully, her childhood friend, who was also an orphan like she was, has returned. Mark made it easy to rely on him as he helped her with so many things while in the last weeks of her pregnancy. If only he weren’t so against marriage.
It was wonderful visiting Dry Creek once again. Mrs. Hargrove and the café and other familiar people and sites. I laughed and cried reading this story. Janet Tronstad has once again written a very heartwarming story.

His Dry Creek Inheritance

Home, a place you think of often, but it’s hard to come back because everything and everyone has changed. Mark has a difficult task ahead. Recovering from injuries he has put his military career on hold to go home. Home, ha, he’d never had a real home. He wasn’t sure he could even find or make one for himself, but…

Bailey, took love when it was offered and then found that it wasn’t truly love. Perhaps she didn’t expect more because she was a foster kid? Whatever the reason she found herself alone, widowed, expecting a babe and caring for her little girl. Exhausted didn’t begin to explain her condition. She was holding on by a thread and that thread was attached to her faith. Was it enough?

Two old friends, thrown together because of situations at home, try to find their way. Not daring to even think of what may be.

It has been a long time since getting to visit Dry Creek again. I have missed it! So glad to have Mrs. Hargrove back! Mark Dakota came back to visit his foster father, only to arrive at his funeral! Bailey Rosen is a pregnant single mother to little Rosie. As part of Eli Rosen’s will, Mark is to stay on the ranch and help Bailey until after her baby is born. Little Rosie wants a daddy, and she has set her sights on Mark. Can she get her wish? The next installment will give us the story of Joe and Emma. Looking forward to it!

I was absolutely thrilled to see a new Dry Creek book. Janet Tronstad is one of my favorite authors, and a visit to Dry Creek is always delightful! This one has so much going for it: a clean romance, children, a dog, spiritual growth, small town togetherness, and a great ending. There is one part of the story that won’t be revealed until the next book in the series. I can’t wait!

His dry creek inheritance

A great story with the dog and the little girl Rosie. Mark comes back to town and finds a lot has changed. I love the way he helps Bailey, takes care of her. Also loved how he adopted the lost dog. Enjoyed Mrs. Hargrove as always.

I brought the book from reader service. This book review is my own opinion.

This was a great story. I loved the characters. Bailey and Mark had been friends since they were six years old, but had not been in touch for over 10 years when they are thrown back together. I loved watching them re-connect. I also loved Rosie. She was a delight. I recommend this book.

Reasonably good read; however, somewhat unrealistic with the story line somewhat disconnected in places.

Reading this reminded me of why I like this series. She lightly touches on issues like PTSD and shows different views of problems. The ending was predictable but what I wanted to happen!

I absolutely loved this book. The characters and their struggles were relatable, and the children acted their ages. The flow of the plotline never felt rushed or forced.

Janet never disappoints. Dry Creek is a wonderful place to visit. It's like visiting old friends when you read her books. This story is about forgiveness and searching for God's grace after years of disappointments.

Mark Dakota grew up a loner and never seemed to fit in. He has spent his life being mad at God. Sometimes we all blame God when bad things happen. He left Dry Creek and joined the Army. A tragedy happens and Mark returns to find many changes and a few surprises.

Bailey Rosen also grows up a loner. She makes a life for herself in Dry Creek. She makes some bad choices that comes with hard consequences. When Mark returns, she's struggling to get by. A lot of times we make choices, on a whim, that seem right at the time. Before making any decision, we always should pray and talk to God.

To see if Mark and Bailey stop being loners, and if Mark ever begins to trust God, and if they both forgive themselves and others......... You have to read the book. Happy Reading
